Man regards moods far too much as effects and not sufficiently as causes. Moods are imagined activities without which no creation is possible. We say that we are happy because we have achieved our goal; we do not realise that the process works equally well in reverse direction- that we shall achieve our goal because we have assumed the happy feeling of wish fulfilled.

Art is always concerned only with life. What do we do in art? Let's resurrect life. Man is so busy with life that he forgets to live it. Always says tomorrow, tomorrow. And this is true death. On the other hand, what is the great success of art... It's life. A life that can be seen, felt, lived in a palpable way. (Viktor. Okay, I don't know what the fuck tumblr just did to my post, so I'm just gonna keep it brief:
Today I saw a screenshot (above) from [Mayim Bialik's Twitter] about a new children's book about Jewish struggles and hope and all that feelgood stuff.
EDIT: tumblr will only let me embed one link per post for some reason, so here's that link again
https://twitter.com/missmayim/status/1757143813724987448?lang=en
The book's name? "Under the Rockets' Glow: Shira's Journey to Courage".
"Under the Rockets' Glow".
A book about Israeli struggles.
"Written" by [a dude who works in machine learning], so the illustrations (and likely the writing also) were possibly stolen from other artists; the fact that there's no credited illustrator only fans the flames of this allegation.
But that's all just garnishments on this garbage feast because it's called "UNDER THE ROCKETS' GLOW", and the cover makes the trails of missiles and projectiles look like fucking shooting stars.
Being sold (as I write this) on Amazon for $12.99 and at Barnes and Noble for $16.99.
I'm gonna be physically sick.
Free Palestine, fuck Israel, boycott Barnes and Noble and Amazon. Get bent, Blossom. Eugh.

Star-studded Opening night for Wilko World Premiere at the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch.
Tumblr media
A dazzling Opening Night unfolded on Saturday, marking the world premiere of Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch’s inaugural show for their spring season. Wilko is a production skilfully written by renowned journalist and TV broadcaster Jonathan Maitland, playing until 24 February.
The star-studded event drew in illustrious personalities, including Jemma Redgrave, celebrated for her roles in Dr Who, Holby City, and Grantchester. Currently sharing the screen with Jason Statham in The Beekeeper, Jemma expressed her enthusiasm: “I absolutely loved it. It’s brilliantly written, exceptionally well-performed, and the music is fantastic. Come and see it!”
John Michie, known for his roles in Holby City, Coronation Street, and Taggart, revealed his admiration for the Canvey Island legend, saying, “I’m a big fan of Dr Feelgood. I loved Wilko Johnson, and this cast tonight absolutely nailed it. The music was spot on. It’s a great show; I highly recommend it!”
Patrick Gibson (Shadow and Bone, The Tudors),Richard Gibson (‘Allo ‘Allo), and Penelope Rawlins(award-winning voice artist) praised the evening as “the best evening imaginable,” commending the amazing cast and the performance of fantastic music.
Sadie Nine of BBC Essex Radio described the show as “absolutely fabulous” and urged those near Canvey Island to attend.
The list of VIPs included Richard ‘Kid’ Strange, founder of the mid-1970s proto-punk band Doctor of Madness, and Rebecca Harris MP for Castle Point.
From standing ovations to heartfelt commendations, audiences have showered praise on the world premiere of this rock ‘n’ roll extravaganza. Its enchanting blend of humour and emotion has captivated viewers, who lauded the cast’s brilliance, the well-crafted script, and the superb staging.
Here’s a glimpse of the audience’s acclaim for “Wilko”:
• “An extraordinarily brilliant show. It had integrity; amazing performances, fabulous music, and much to say about life…go see it!”
• “Great show. Brilliant cast. Very well written and staged. Went last night and will be back for sure.”
• “Anyone who is a fan of Dr Feelgood or Wilko Johnson should see it.”
• “It’s brilliant. The actor who plays Wilko is great. All the cast are fantastic. Some laughs and some tears.”
• “Take my hat off to the writer who gave us great insights into Wilko’s life and career.”
• “10/10 – I want to see it again!”
Wilko is a striking biographic play with live music celebrating the extraordinary life of Dr Feelgood co-founder Wilko Johnson. In 2012 the iconic rock star was told he had inoperable cancer and a year to live. Refusing all treatment, he decided to spend his last months living meaningfully: seeing the people, places and things which meant most to him during his remarkable life. Then, a miracle happened….  This new play is a mixture of words, rock ‘n roll, and quotes from the man himself – tells the amazing, uplifting true story of Wilko, the Essex legend.
Tickets from £19 (plus 65p QNext fee), under 26s £8 (age guidance 11+). To book, call the Box Office on 01708 443333 or visit queens-theatre.co.uk

On some level I'm happy that Nimona was nominated for the animated Oscar because it's cute and it's an openly gay kid's movie written by a trans man, yay representation, hopefully the Oscar nom will give it, and him, some extra publicity, but also it's super not Oscar level good. It's just not.
But then again the Animated category is always just a shoulder-shrugging list of whatever got made that year, with a depressing automatic win for whatever Disney/Pixar (okay sometimes Dreamworks) just put out. Ratatouille won over Persepolis, Up won both over Coraline an Fantastic Mr Fox, Brave beat ParaNorman, Frozen beat The Wind Rises, Big Hero Six beat both Song of the Sea and Princess Kaguya, Zootopia beat Kubo and the Red Turtle, I'm not sure anyone it the jury a) has taste b) likes animation c) even watches what got nominated instead of asking their kids. Note that I only listed the wins I consider unfair where I've seen both movies, there are probably other masterpieces that lost to Disney FeelGoodness.
You can probably argue about some of these, but definitely not about Persepolis. Persepolis should have beaten Ratatouille. Reasonably cute movie about a talking rat learning to cook, with a sweet but super cliche message about following your dreams and breaking through barriers VS an artistically and narratively stunning memoir about the Iranian revolution that handles heavy topics but retains a sense of humour. Oh but the jury would have needed to read subtitles and care about foreigners, so it's right out.

Ok I'll be saying this, and damn it all.
Not watching The Flash because of Ezra Miller is a childish, sjw-ish, anti behavior.
This is NOT Miller's personal movie. Miller is just ONE actor within this project. Miller is ONE cog (a big and important, yet just ONE) in this machine. By boycotting a project, that involves hundreds if not more talents, screenwriters, producers, actors, directors, tech people, music people, visuals people, costume people, ART PEOPLE, you are spitting in the face of a whole workforce, that whole its crime was to sign a contract on a project along one other person who turned out to be a No Good Guy.
Whatever Miller did, doing and will do, should not ever be a stain over people, ESPECIALLY ARTISTS, who chance would have them working on the same project with them. That is not OK. That is not anywhere along the lines of justice. This is cruel.
This is a "FeelGood" behavior for consumers. A trendy action with zero significance and 100% bad taste.
The production and management did all they can to minimize Miller's upfollowed involvement in the press releases and commercials and interviews for the movie. What you can do is respect the efforts of the crew that worked on the project. The actors who put their best in it. The writers.
Whatever will be of This One Person is up for the courts to decide. If there is a rehabilitation, a sentence a jail time - it's not up to any of the audience to decide. It is not the case for the guillotine.
This movie is not a product of one person, not Miller's personal message to the world, not a cult leader's manifesto. The movie is not a hate crime, not a propaganda created by one Ezra Miller. It's not theirs.
It's a superhero movie, in which Miller stars as an actor.
If Jews can listen AND ENJOY Wagner's music so you can put your big boy pants on and watch THIS movie.
And if YOU personally don't like superheros, and won't be watching it, that's fine.
And if YOU personally don't like the character and not interested in Flash, and won't be watching it, that's fine.
But if you want to watch it, but won't because of ONE actor? You are doing a great disservice to the filmmakers, the other actors and to yourself.
Think about it.
