Christmas List Erased Day 24: The ghost of Christmas past, Family

I know these last two we're doing are MEGA late but Christmas really took it out of us. This was SUPPOSED to be on schedule to make everyone sad on the 24th right before Christmas but family obligations and tiredness absolutely destroyed us so we went for quality over quantity with this one. 23/25 is still a good ratio. We have one more picture for Christmas list erased prolly posting later today and mayhaps a doodle page and something else.

You jolted from your position on the couch from a loud ruckus coming near the tree. "Shit!" You heard a familiar voice from over there. Of course, it was Ran...dressed in a Santa suit? When did he get that?

"Shhh, Ran, you're going to wake the kids! I thought you were asleep already." You whispered.

He stepped over to you and leaned in to give you a quick peck on the lips, tasting of the crumbs of cookies he just ate. "It'll be fine, darling. Why else would I be dressed like this, no?"

You sighed with a smile, placing a hand over your face. "I mean yeah, they'd be screaming with joy that's for sure but I don't know how they'll react if they see you kissing me," you teased as you poked m his stomach that clearly had a pillow stuffed under the red coat.

His arms snaked under you and hoisted you up. "Hmmm, I think we can just tell them Santa also had a gift for mommy this year."

Your face burned as you covered it with your hands. "Oh god, Ran!"

"Come on, let's get you to bed. We have a looong night waiting for us," he whispered huskily in your ear.

And next thing you know, you're both being woken up by your kids jumping on the bed, yelling "mommy" and "daddy" wanting to open presents at five in the morning.

Even so, the night was still worth the time.

Not sure if this theory makes any sense at all but I'm starting to believe that there's no time skip between Wally's phone calls and what we see/hear in the show's Media/Merchandise. If we see the Toyland call being made before the Homewarming episode then it would make sense that Wally's expecting Barnaby to come over soon. As well as the Homewarming sketch from the prior update. (I don't know, still kind of brainstorming this perspective)

that theory Does make sense and i've been considering it! the "timeline" is such a nebulous thing right now because we still... don't really know! there are too many variables and too many Maybes for any solid answer.

maybe the reality that the neighbors live in exists outside of time like you say, and like half of me suspects. there's so much reality fuckery already present, but I'm also... unsure of how much merit this holds given what we know / can infer about how time passes in Home. i'm putting this theory on a low shelf to look at but not prioritize

maybe it really has been 50 years, and Barnaby is either still around / Wally is still in contact with him, or Barnaby... isn't there. who knows, maybe Wally was just verbalizing some Wishful Thinking. i mean, Wally is a bit of an unreliable narrator, isn't he? we can't assume that everything he says is entirely accurate or truthful. and i mean, if it's been 50 years it makes sense that Wally would be pushing for connection / to revive WH. who knows how long he's been trying.

hm... i mean. it could be a mix of that and the Outside Of Time theory. who knows, maybe W is receiving calls from different points in the timeline - Wally may have started out just calling, and has just graduated to invading the WH website / getting pushy with the envelopes and media that's been sent to the WHRP. maybe Wally got tired of waiting for W to respond before W was even born. who's to say!

Alright, I have a look in the back if we still have some Christmasy Kruspe in store - I mean, it's getting close to Christmas and he really is quite popular with the customers... Oh, here, I found some! Some Christmasy Kruspe in various shades and forms coming right up 🎄🎅

First, some light and entertaining Christmasy Kruspe facts from back in the day (from this interview):

Back when he lived in New York, he liked to invite his family and friends over for Christmas. This gathered several people from different countries and the rule was that everyone had to bring a typical Christmas dish from their country for the celebration.

On the second day of Christmas, it's time for a Lord of the Rings marathon 🧝🏼‍♀️🧙🏼‍♂️

Back when he was a kid, one Christmas his brother and sister apparently got a lot of presents while he was sitting there with two little ones, internally breaking a sweat that maybe he did something wrong 👀 Some minutes later, his father brought a huge present for him into the room which contained an enourmous toy car track which Richard wished for desperately, and he still likes to think back fondly to this particular Christmas celebration.

Here's some christmasy advice from Richard from this interview: "Try to make peace with your family, which is a big thing always for me too."
