I feel like there was a missed opportunity in book 3 to have an inter dimensional duel between Alfonse and Veronica vs Lif and Thrasir. Just constantly ripping and closing portals between worlds, trying to shut their opponents out.

Blue hair in Fire Emblem and how it concerns Alfonse and Lif

I have always wondered how it is that humans do not posses the coloration some other animals do and how they exist in Fire Emblem and how that may be possible.

The concept of Structural Pigmentation or Coloration is not very new to me, but I have just put two and two together and come to the realization of how this affects Alfonse and Lif. And a very sad realization it was.

For those who do not know what Structural Coloration is here's the explanation as it is shown in Wikipedia:

Structural coloration in animals, and a few plants, is the production of color by microscopically structured surfaces fine enough to interfere with visible light instead of pigments, although some structural coloration occurs in combination with pigments.

It is said that blue as a pigment is very hard to find in nature and that most birds and butterflies that display this color is due to this kind of structure that traps the blue light and therefore makes the feathers look blue. So in truth the feathers are a different color but look blue to us.

My theory is that blue hair in Fire Emblem is this way. The hair on our blue hair characters is truly not blue but it looks that way because somehow the structure of their hair makes us see it that way.

If this is true this may explain why Alfonse has blond tips in his hair and Lif has silver tips in his hair.

The explanation being that Alfonse is actually blond and the structure of his hair makes it look blue but for the tips that are different in texture than the rest of his hair.

Now you may see where I am going with this, but if not let me tell you the rest. Lif as Alfonse had his blond hair (with his blue structural coloration) but went through such an ordeal that his hair turned white (silver). Although he still retained the blue from the Structural Coloration the tips are seen as silver now.

Now we all know what happened to Lif but day after day I understand his pain more and more and this just another proof of the horror he had to endure. I wonder if IS knew what they were doing or if this is just mere coincidence but the effect and impact it had on me is very great.

Now I just want to hug him even more.
