Kiran is (functionally) a Bodhisattva/Deva and Askr is gambling on them (A wild almost baseless theory)
I'm out of my damn mind and I've decided to make you guys suffer through my insane thoughts.
To get this out of the way, a Bodhisattva is roughly translating, ‘the enlightened one’ in Buddhism, one who has grasped the truths of the world and are able to break away from the cycle of suffering and ascend into an actual Buddha. But choose not to, instead remain on the current plane of existence to help alleviate others' suffering in hopes that others may attain the truths and do the same. (This is NOT a perfect, total summary but I hope its enough to understand what a Bodhisattva, functionally, is.)
So for years I've been holding onto this idea that Kiran is a supernatural being in the context of the world of FEH. I mean, if they’re from our world and played the series, I reasoned some things:
Our world relatively speaking is one of incredible comfort, even more so than what monarchies of the medieval eras can achieve at their height. Specifically, Kiran is akin to a Deva of the variety of deities in Buddhism before they were pulled into FEH. Here's the wikipedia link explaining the nuance of what a Deva is. The takeaway: They live longer, are able to die, but their lives are one of pleasures and comfort. (Remember Peony’s words of how the World of Steel is one of comfort?)
They have knowledge of all FE characters, some more invasive than others. Conversely, native zenith folks are completely unknown to them. This makes them a bit supernatural despite being a human being, and makes them aware to the suffering of characters in the FEverse.
They must then know certain repeating tropes that has been occurring in FEverse. Masked dudes being sus, dead parents, blue haired lords, divine dragons subject to mental degradation, etc etc. You get the idea.
As blue haired lords with sisters are typically the main criteria in general for FE lords to be recognized as the protagonist, it is theoretically possible for Kiran to over-attach themself to Alfonse based on point 3 at the point of first contact.
Kiran has some level of perception towards tropes, which is why I think they caught on to  Bruno/Zacharias’ identity in book 1 so easily. And how many of us were thinking, 'Gustav is totally gonna kick it' when he appeared?
If Alfonse can open pathways to other worlds, then one inferred reason why Kiran doesn’t leave is because they realize if they do, Alfonse is completely screwed. (twisting this can also mean: delay to ‘ascension’)
By book 2, the name of Sutr and the prophecy referencing Ragnarok is clear, and the presence of Loki throws in a very high possibility that Ragnarok will happen even without Sutr. Loki is also, across all interpretations, a chaotic basket of fun and does things so long as she has a laugh. Point 6 is reinforced.
I also thought about why the game explicitly refers to Kiran as us, the players playing the game, when they could have taken the Blazing Blade route when they could turn them into a Mark v2.0. Those 7 points i listed are ultimately wild theories of a theoretical Kiran who thinks like me, and so I have to admit it doesn’t hold much weight on its own.
It just has to be an avatar, is what I'm getting at. An avatar functionally more akin to Robin or Byleth, characters with their own personalities and goals while we drive the plot forwards.
Except, then, there are Norse gods. And Norse gods means a lot of self-indulgent deities with Odin/All-father who has the Twilit Runes, ie he has already seen EVERY bit of fate that’s to come. But Kiran wasn't there at the point the runes were made, so far away in our world without magic and so insignificant that it doesn't matter. Probably.
As a direct result of their presence/interference, Askr isn’t at Embla’s mercy by the end of book 1, and Ragnarok doesn't occur as prophesied in book 2 by the hands of Sutr. I think its possible that Fjorm would have perished instead by book 2 originally if not for Kiran’s presence bolstering Alfonse’s fate/desires to defeat Sutr.
So Kiran does have a function in the world of FEH.
So then that leads into who made Breidablik and the prophecy behind them? I thought it could be Askr, Baldr (if they even exist), someone, or even Eitri, but seems like Eitri wasn’t involved in the creation of Breidablik. Baldr remains non-existent at this point, so, I thought, someone who knows of the Twilit Runes wanted to stop it made Breidablik. And maybe Breidablik just looks for whoever understands enough of 1. sticking to the blue haired lord, and 2. Norse mythos, to roll on with the plot of FEH.
But that's all the thoughts I had for years.
Then book 6 starts raising my eyebrow. Ash’s beast form is a cow. A cattle. One of the most sacred creatures in Buddhism/Hinduism. Cows in general are a very rare and unique character design choice so I didn't dwell too much on it. (EDIT: here's a write up expanding on this idea) Since this is ultimately entertainment, so sometimes they do random things in the name of cool. Askr is a divine dragon anyway, right? Lizard and all, I thought.
But then. then. On April fools 2022, Lonely Puppeteer (Spring Remix) drops, complete with a fully rendered MV
Tumblr media
And I see Kiran on a goddamn lotus. Lotus in Buddhism/Hinduism is representative of purity above material attachment and physical desire. It's a big thing there, but ok, still nothing definitive. I'm also reminded of how Kiran technically resisted the lust pollen in book iv. But ultimately it looks fancy and cool, and it's April Fools, so whatever.
(I want to stress also that there are countless depictions of deities and Buddha sitting above the lotus in peaceful meditation. The lotus is some serious symbolism in Buddhism and Hinduism.)
Then Askr's design comes out. He's a DIVINE. BULL. DRAGON. DEITY. I just about fucking lost it.
Tumblr media
Immediately I notice the Third Eye on his forehead.
In many parts of Asia, the Third Eye is said to allow the user to perceive things which are beyond normal perception. Some think it predicts the future, lets the user see ghosts, divine fates, or even see beyond our own material world. Now, I don't know at this point if that third eye, if it is even one, lets Askr do those things, but I'm willing to bet the ability to open gateways to other worlds is in synergy with it at bare minimum. After all, Anankos was able to see the world of Awakening despite being in Fates, so this seems more than plausible.
And if my bullshit is right, the one responsible for Breidablik is likely Askr, who has seen the future and wants to prevent Ragnarok. (EDIT: JOSSED, it looks like. oh well!) So he pulls in a being from a wildly different plane of existence, maybe with said prerequisites of understanding 2 rules, 1. sticking to the blue haired lord, and 2. Norse mythos, all in hopes that the chance of breaking the prophecy of Ragnarok is above 0%.
Thanks for coming to my Ted-talk. Admittedly I've only bounced this idea off 2 people, one who hasn't caught up on FEH and doesn't know too much about Buddhism, and another who has dropped the game. So this idea is unrefined.
TL;DR: Title
I'll go back to writing Fanfic on AO3 now lol. I wrote Hello Hopeful, and this is my AO3 account. I’m losing my fucking mind rn, cheers. If you find my fic interesting, Id be super happy if you could leave a kudos!
PS: Third Eyes also enables the user to see Devas according to that Wikipedia article. Divine Eyes and Third Eye means the same thing in Mandarin, so wtf lol
PPS: Devas are not creator gods either. they are more of a human, mortal deity who can observe the realms ‘below’ theirs, but rarely intervene/offer counsel. There's a belief that we all once had the ability to fly and glow and are Devas ourselves, but lost the ability to do that over time in buddhism
EDIT: This theory is a shallower exploration and mostly made from speculation. I made a better one! For a more in-depth meta analysis feel free to check my pinned. Thanks!

okay, this has been on my mind since the first movie of the book lol. so i made a pic of what ive noticed.
● both have the same hair part, along with the orange in their hair, plus the placement of gullveig's horn is super duper similar to where the diamon/gem on heidr's forehead
● both have gold on their finger tips and upper left thighs. its eerily similar
● may be a stretch, but their eye shapes are similar too. even heidr's gold eye
● plus, heidr is the only one who has this "curse". or that we know of at least
along with today's chapter, my biggest theory is that heidr is gullveig in the past, and that something happens and she becomes cold and cruel. which if true, will make the fight against her harder for seidr. i do wonter too, why she needs the summoner. and why seidr finds the summoner so familiar 🤔

has anything been on your mind about Engage recently? I keep thinking about the fact that while we don't learn a ton about any of the countries, we learn a bit and, for most of them, can talk with the regular citizens on some of the maps...but not Elusia bc most of the people were killed off in Sombron's zombie apocalypse, and it just makes me wonder about what Elusia's people would have been like if survivors of the corrupted had appeared in the Elusia post-battle areas. Like, we can get some idea of what the other three countries were like from random NPCs, but not Elusia, and it's been haunting me a bit
Engage hasn't been in my mind as much lately because I'm too busy suffering through 3H and there's still no end in sight for that one, but on one hand I get why (especially because Sombron literally ate the only Elusian town we get to visit) and it is unnerving... but it's also a shame we get pretty much nothing about the Elusian commonfolk's lives.
Anyway, as to what I keep thinking about - I belive I've already mentioned this, but the fact that when Lumera finds Alear in Gradlon, there is seemingly no one accompanying her. What was she doing in Gradlon all alone?
Tumblr media
And that got me thinking- by this point all of Lumera's loved ones are dead, Sombron seems undefeatable and she is the only Divine Dragon who's still alive.
Tumblr media
My point is, she has little to no reasons to live by that point, and while I don't think she was actively suicidal... again, she was in Gradlon entirely by herself.
Tumblr media
That's why she got so attached to Alear, I think. Not just out of sympathy for their plight, but because she could deeply relate to them despite the fact that, well. There's no way they don't have Divine Dragon blood on their hands.
So she goes back home in Lythos and invites Alear there and, well, we know how it goes from there. Lumera mentions having Alear as a child was her greatest joy and I honestly believe that's an understatement.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lumera may have spent a thousand years giving Alear her life force and the means to come back from the dead twice, but Alear unkowingly gave her a reason to live those thousand years to begin with.
Tumblr media
Their relationship is a lot more reciprocated than you'd think at first, and I just. Love them so much😭
Lumera may not have won the Best FE Parent Tournament but she's still best mom to me

Remember how in its first years of existence, FEH tried to shoehorn some link between characters by having them by drawn by the same artists?
Like Seliph and Siggy, Julia and Deedee, Arvis and Saias, Lewyn and Ced etc etc (wait it's only for Jugdral characters?)
Now :
Tumblr media
The New Supreme Leader alt is drawn by teffish...
Who also made the evil lizard lady's evil alt !
Tumblr media
And let's not forget cuboon, who made Brave Supreme Leader's padded armor, and also designed a milktruck F!Billy and Rhea's swimsuit alt!
Also, Supreme Leader's swimsuit alt has flowers for some reason... placed where Rhea usually put lilies in her own hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it only means one thing to the feh devs : Supreme Leader could have been born with pointy ears!

FEH combat resolution nowadays is determined by two lawyers in arbitration arguing over whether the Null Deadeye dragon veins are countered by the Null Null Null Damage Reduction Duo Skill bonus, as item 1 of a twelve point agenda.
So, hiya papaya, Yunaka!, I love you but you have to understand: if I had the mental capacity to plan more than zero moves ahead in FEH, I would not be spending it on FEH.

Eitr and Freyja
There are many similarities between Freyja and Eitr that I’m just convinced Eitr is Freyja as a child somehow.
first off the tempest trials take place in Freyja’s nightmare but this could have just been referring to the nightmare realm.
In the meet the heroes, Eitr is stated to have low self esteem because people used to make fun of her. Freyja was ridiculed for having a mark on the underside of her nose as a child. Looking at Eitr’s design there seems to be some mark on her nose.
furthermore on the design, their hair colors are similar and they have the same colored eyes.
in meet the heroes, the flowers Eitr holds seem to come from Vanaheimr, where does Freyja come from? Vanaheimr. It’s also noted Eitr feels familiar somehow, why? Perhaps it’s Freyja?
Just some connections I’ve made, however I could very much be wrong.

(rev spoilers)
i am at that point in the royals-only!insane rev run where the Fun starts, aka scarlet is. well.
and ironically i think it's easy to forget that anankos/(gunter) aims first at corrin with the fireball, wounding her -
(this shot)-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-and then again a second time, before scarlet throws herself in between.
like.....
okay, one - corrin's probably got at minimum some burn wounds. what the fuck does he feel about that. he appears immediately next to her after, he definitely sees them.
two - he almost succeeded in straight up killing her. what. the fuck does gunter feel about that (regardless if they're a pair or not). he's gotta know about it. jury's out on whether he's "in control" at the exact moment (considering base gunter has 0 magical ability, so anankos is influencing to some degree there).
here's the thing to the last part: a later possession scene shows that he's still got the ability to talk "as" himself and throw fireballs so fates doesn't even let us have the easy way out of weakly saying "eh anankos was fully in the driver's seat" and pinning the blame on anankos.
ahaha no that was at least some bit of gunter that willfully aimed two killing shots at corrin.
god i love rev for a possession story that goes so fucking hard.

What if Seidr is Gullveig and Heidr is a red herring? It might explain why Gullveig is the icon for book 7 despite her being the antagonist.

You know as far as I know, Reyson's older sister Lillia was only mentioned in the game. I wonder what she looks like. Does she have straight long hair like Reyson or wavy/curly hair like Rafiel and Leanne?
I have a headcanon that she has long straight hair like Reyson. It would make sense if she did. Rafiel is the oldest and he has wavy hair, and Leanne being the youngest she ending up getting wavy hair like him. I also like to think they inherited their wavy hair from their mother. So if that is the case and it goes in a pattern then Lillia being the second oldest would mean that she inherited straight hair like Reyson from their father Lorazieh. Or I could be thinking to much into it and she could have wavy hair like the others. I do hope if feh ever puts her into the game that she has long straight hair like Reyson.

when Ash was released in the game I thought they were referencing the huldra, but after reading your post it made think DAMN THAT WORKS TOO--
!!!! anon!!!! ilu ilu ty for the ask!!
Funny thing is the idea of Norse/European mythos never crossed my mind when I saw Ash, honestly bc I don't actually know much about both... See, I was already starting to suspect something was up with FEH's concept when darker skinned summoners became a selectable portrait starting from I think FEH 5.2? Might sound weird but the combo of gold circlets and darker complexions got me thinking about India.
India happens to also be the birthplace of Buddhism. While FEH is ultimately another game from Japan, they tend to mix things up for twistsy twists so I was never down to conclude things. Ash could have Huldras mixed into her concept, it's entirely possible.
As a result, I actually thought of Hinduism first when I saw Ash. Her design has a lot of elements borrowed from Hinduism/India. Just like... Look at her.
For example, this armband is something I notice India folks occasionally wearing irl... They also incorporate lots of gold into their clothes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not of India descent myself so this is all I'll comment to avoid unintentionally saying something ignorant.
=x=;;
Next is her beast form, which is this white holy looking cow but it looks absolutely nothing like the species of cows typically kept in farms for beef. Those farm cows are usually black/white or brown, not pure white.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
See, nothing alike, right?
Tumblr media
Ash instead reminds me of these 2 pictures below. White cows which are typically seen in India, are protected and venerated. They just straight up refuse to kill cows there in accordance to their religion. Seems that they associate cows with the mother of Gods. I've stumbled on the 2nd image down here by chance so that came to mind first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I decided not to jump to conclusions but once Askr's design came out I lost it, mainly because I felt alone in noticing these things. Norse mythology seems to be the text, and Buddhism/Hinduism feels more like a subtext. Unfortunately without going into a lengthy analysis I can't just yell why it's the case without sounding like a nutcase. I probably still sound like one right now. (EDIT: here's my unhinged rambling about it)
Ty again for the ask anon and uh sorry for over sharing my thoughts on Ash klasdfaskjdf;as.

Ok, I’ve gotta say that Awakening Naga’s Halloween alt might be the best thing that’s ever happened for her character. Giving the character a playful and mischievous side that partakes in festivals makes her so delightful.

People on FEH reddit yesterday were debating why the gross new op Lyon has the skill he does.
Ending the enemy turn after an attack started with Fomortiis of course, and his ability Nightmare, which his prf is named after. In FE8 that made units in range fall asleep. No turns for you.
Lyon has the offensive version of that. But also, Lyon was unlockable as a Summoner.
The whole deal with an FE8 summoner is that they plop a phantom down - an illusory unit - and the enemy would waste at least one turn gunning for it because it had 1HP.
Phantoms aren't great for combat but they are good for tricking the AI... into wasting its turn.
