New changes, going into 2024

Hello everyone! Felis here.

...Whew.

It's been a long year.

I'm sorry I don't have art to accompany this post, but I've been a bit dead (not that I have enough followers atm for anyone to give much of a damn, hah-) buuuut since circumstances might be changing soon with a bit of luck, maybe I can update more in the future. We'll see!

Lots has happened this year. Rekindled old friendships and tried to repair others, found a special someone, got a nice job, got a kitten, got (temporarily) kicked out, god knows what else. It's a blur, and it's hard to say if it's been positive or negative, but it's another year gone by that's changed me a lot. Hopefully for the better.

I know New Year's Resolutions tend to be a little bullshit, but honestly? I just hope I can be better in the coming year. Kinder, more considerate to others and myself, (more productive-) and maybe a bit more confident. I hope the same for everyone else. The world is a bit of a shitshow these days, but that doesn't mean we have to be!

For the few people who were aware of my existence previously, I have changed my URL and such. Mostly because having a fresh name and look might help be feel a bit more productive, since everytime I looked at my blog I saw a post from when I was 17 and in college suffering from depression, lmao- not great on the psyche.

So like... Odin might've had a point

i saw a post pointing out discrepancies in flashbacks, and noticed another.

When Baldr talks about Hoder's death, we see a flashback. Hoder, facing Maleficent. Baldr appears behind her, she is struck down by Maleficent and disappears in his arms.

Yet when the upperclassmen recount their tale to Xehanort in the Underworld, we see a different flashback. The upperclassmen hurry after Hoder, and appear just in time to see her fade and swear revenge. Baldr is noticably absent, for having supposedly held her in her final moments.

And in a third presentation from this scene, given by a fully possessed Darkness-Baldr, we see Darkness strike down Hoder with both Maleficent and Baldr absent.

And yet, Baldr clearly witnessed Hoder's death, and felt immense guilt for it.

So what happened here?

What I personally think happened is this:

Baldr did not get possessed a week after Hoder's death. He was already under Darkness' influence beforehand.

From UX Ven's appearance, we know what this can look like. Ven himself did not kill Strelitzia, yet he has no recollection of the event, despite witnessing it. He has entirely different memories of meeting Ava, whom Darkness took the shape of.

So, I propose that Darkness did kill Hoder, but:

Darkness, likely taking advantage of Baldr's worry, compelled him to follow her to Enchanted Dominion. There, it struck Hoder down, which Baldr witnessed, but hid him from the upperclassmen. When the upperclassmen arrived, it struck them down, erasing Baldr's memories of that event.

After this happens, it's highly likely that Vidar arrives. Vidar is the only one who knows Hoder was struck down by "a formless darkness", and he knew Baldr was possessed by it, before Baldr escapes confinement and joins up with the other underclassmen.

Darkness killed Hoder to blackmail Vidar. Her death would inspire him to take revenge, and taking Baldr would inspire Vidar to seek out Kingdom Hearts in an attempt to rescue him.

If we assume the one week period of Baldr's confinement is from the start of Dark Road to Episode Seven, this would make no sense.

How would Vidar know in advance that Baldr is possessed if he too was told by Odin that Baldr had a different task?

And yet, Vidar only knows to seek out Kingdom Hearts to cure his friend because Odin told him how.

In short, Vidar sees Baldr possessed by Darkness in Enchanted Dominion, and then tells Odin.

Odin tells Vidar about the power of Kingdom Hearts in response, and locks Baldr away as a stopgap measure until then.

During the one week confinement, "influence" turns to flat out possession as Baldr, manipulated by Darkness, blames himself for Hoder's death and gives into despair. Then, he escapes during Odin's moment of absence, joining up with the underclassmen to start picking them off.

When Odin told the underclassmen that "Baldr had a different task," he was lying and deliberately concealing Baldr's locked away status, which Darkness takes advantage of to spin a yarn about "time off to heal."

This would explain why Baldr's room looks like a solitary confinement cell. Cuz it is.

Vidar, Vala, and Vali presumably give up on finding True Light after confronting Xehanort and Co. in the Cave of Wonders over the wishing lamp. Eraqus' resolve likely shakes up Vidar, and he comes to realize the futility of his plan, and that he has been playing into Darkness' hands the entire time.

After this event is immediatly when Baldr breaks out.

I hope this is somewhat clear? I just think this would clear up several "plot holes"

(why would odin tell vidar abt KH, why did Odin lie abt Baldr, why did Baldr's cell look Like That, why are the three flashbacks of Hoder's death so different, how did Vidar figure out Baldr is possessed so early, etc)

so yeah! odin might've had a good reason, but that just made everything worse!

Remember, Ven could oppose the darkness within himself and regain his memories of the true sequence of events after being supported by his friends :)

Been getting into Thor/Piratesoftware's content the past few days (found him through a super interesting stream with Alok/Healthygamer) and wanted to see if there were any fans of his on Tumblr since he seems to be a huge positive force in the indie game dev community!

Onlyy to see one of the top posts under the Piratesoftware tag is people saying to uninstall his game Heartbound because he decided to stream Hogwarts Legacy 😭 you guys are so unbelievably annoying. Use your brains man.

It was so tiring to watch the storm you guys caused over that fuckin game. As if trying to boycott the game was gonna make any kind of dent in JKR's wallet. As if it was gonna change her, or anyone else's views on trans people.

And then mindlessly wishing harm on people you don't know/don't care to know because you've decided to jump on the bandwagon of "Hogwarts Legacy is an evil to all trans people", trying to rally together to ruin the lives of creators who ever dared to have their own opinions on the matter.

I'll never forget the shit people started over Hasan wanting to stream the game. That man's raised MILLIONS for the causes he supports and you couldn't let him do the same for us? Trans people are being stripped of their rights and you'd give up the opportunity to raise a significant amount of money, just so your streamer doesn't play the stupid Harry Potter game??

It blows my mind to this day.

And then seeing the same bullshit for Thor, like come on. It takes all of two seconds to understand the person he is and the damage you're doing by attempting to take down everything he's built for playing a game you've incorrectly labeled as a harm to trans people.

Use your fucking head. Jesus.

Actually, to be honest, Mao @'d me in a video today & that's also been all that's on my mind in between my ability to watch stuff. I almost started crying by how cute it was. I've watched it quite a few times over.

It dealt with the first time Koga came upon Rei. The artist made it prior to the release of the Backdoor Pamphlet. That came out end of last year, but the video they made was done in like 2020. So of course there's some differences between the new canon information, but it is still very close in what could be taken from the information at the time.

So it showed Koga with tickets going to a concert. With the new information, he just snuck into the Livehouse without paying to see Rei, until he got caught. But it was still very much definitely how Koga would have been that very first time he saw Rei on stage. Even if the difference was that Rei would just go sing at the Underground Livehouse, no concert or anything in place, but for sure the first time Koga laid his eyes on Rei up there on stage singing, he would've immediately flushed in his cheeks & got hit by that DOKIDOKI.

After all, we still know Koga was mesmerized by Rei's vocals, finding them to be very sexually appealing, even more than any girl he's ever known, and he never felt LONELY when he went to the Livehouse to listen to Rei. Koga was beginning to feel crushed by his growing loneliness. Sure, he wasn't actually alone by any means, he had his parents who adopted Leon as a puppy, which Leon gave him more attention than his parents did. But he felt overwhelmingly lonely.

Just being able to see Rei on stage was more than enough for him. He fell in love with Rei up there on stage, and eventually came to love Rei for Rei, no matter how Rei came to be.

I cannot be.... the first to put chia seeds in tea and absolutely love it... right?

Every time I bring it up to someone they find it weird but I love it! Mayb its just my recent interest in finding ways to meet nutritional needs while still getting the kinds of foods n flavors I love, so Im trying a lot of random shit

But there's no way putting chia seeds in tea is a weird or new thing. It makes so much sense to me.

I got the idea from the weird weight loss trend on tiktok for "chia seed water" which was all kinds of gross and please don't take health or weight loss tips from tiktok lol

But I saw that and figured it would make way more sense to put them in tea! The issue w having them in water was just that it gave the water a really gross taste lmao but tea and whatever you add to it completely solves that issue

Ive just been looking for ways to get enough fiber in my day-to-day, because tbh I dont like veggies very much. I don't think I'll ever get to a point where I eat enough veggies to be hitting whatever a healthy amount of fiber is in a day. But I do love fruit, apples especially, so there's that.

Anyways, point is: there's a lot of fiber you can get from adding chia seeds to your tea or smoothies or yk people usually will put em in pudding!

I really like the added texture, especially in my tea, its kinda like teeny tiny boba! Because when the seeds soak, they expand a little and get this squishy and clear outer layer (kinda like bubble fruit in Rain World, which I thought was a neat comparison)

I usually only put like a small tablespoon in some normal ass green tea w honey and its lovely. I like it a lot and I think everyone should give it a try :)

most of it is summarized in the Anguis Ven Agenda, which is a character analysis of pre-ux ven basically, and That One Post Everyone Has Feelings Over sums up the general gist on how I see the ux vanitas twist, though the language is deliberatly theatrical to invoke emotion

To summarize: I think interpretations that use ux to cast vanitas as Entirely Separate from Ven are horseshit

So like, ux, yeah. It reveals that there's some Capital D Darkness in Ven, which formed Vanitas when xehanort pulled it out again in bbs. i don't disagree with this.

However, what is very important to me. Is that Darkness stole Ven's own to make itself sentient. It's still Ven's darkness, too.

As I say in my Anguis Ven Agenda, and dramatically imply in the other post, the Darkness still acted on what it thought was Ven's will. That's why I call it "intrusive thoughts." I believe some part of Ven was jealous, did want to kill Strelitzia, even if he never intended to act on it. The thought was still there.

And for bbs, too. If you go for "vanitas is only Darkness" you end up retconning and invalidating his entire character in bbs. He is ven's darkness, came from the same source, which makes it all the more tragic that the two grew apart. Bbs Ven has changed as a person, and so the two puzzle pieces don't fit anymore. The edges got sanded off and they won't click.

Vanitas is in essence trying to return to ux Ven, who no longer exists. Who will never exist again.

That's all that from a mainly lore standpoint. I think considering Vanitas to characterize Ven is also important.

In bbs, Vanitas is trying to be a person who no longer exists, but Ven is rejecting part of himself because he finds it unsightly.

Ven rejecting Vanitas means Ven rejects not just his own darkness. He rejects his anger, his loneliness, his jealousy. He is denying all the feelings Vanitas is made of, and it's destroying him. Literally.

Ven hates that these feelings could possibly have been his so much that he is willing to shatter his own heart and openly contemplate suicide. yknow.

of course there's also aspect of ven not wanting to be a weapon, and accepting vanitas wouldn't have worked anyway because of sora sanding the edges off, but that's tragedy, isn't it? There was no ideal path for those two.

I think that self-rejection, that already appears in ux, a bit. Again, darkness is the thoughts Ven doesn't want to admit he has. Or he had, before gaining friends. He's behind all that now, ysee? He got friends. He's no longer alone. So he doesn't need these unsightly feelings anymore and they should just leave.

I think after bbs and kh3 and whatnot Ven doesn't have xehanort's pressure on him anymore and can be a kid for a bit and as above he just. doesn't feel what vanitas is anymore. and without the pressure he likely won't again. but i'd say he still needs to do some introspection. he's All Light now, but that doesn't mean negativity is gone.

if hearts can grow back whole does darkness grow back too? did ven get darkness from sora, because that's what his heart lacked?

as for the future of vanitas, his tie to sora is fascinating. as i mentioned his tragedy is that the person he's trying to be will never exist again, but he can still help, i think. first of all he'd need to accept himself as a whole person by himself, but i think he can help sora.

i put vanitas on my kh4 bingo card for good reason. i believe he'll be back for several reasons that other people have probably outlined better than me, but sora falls into the same trap ventus does where he denies his own darkness and it is killing him. has killed him.

it started with "kingdom hearts... is light!" and then it never stopped which is how we get anti and rage form. he only ever grieves for others and never for himself, so doing a ... darkness trade of sorts with ven would land him with vanitas. if vanitas comes to represent sora's darkness (i'm the shadow that you cast etc etc) and sora has to conceptualize that as a person he cares for then he would by extension learn darkness isn't all that bad and care for himself

i think that would be epic. vanitas was my kh fav before i even knew who sora was so i miss him. kh4 give him to me

YEAH he got capital D Darkness in him but he's wayyy more than that and i hate it when people reduce him that way. Yeah all his actions in bbs were a fool's errand and that's tragic but it would be so bad and pointless if vanitas wasn't what he believed himself to be at all. It's good if he can be more than Ven's darkness, maybe Darkness will even help him get a sense of identity, that there's a part of him that isn't just Ven, but if you make him less than that, I hate that. I'm looking at you ux clickbait theorists.
