Celebrating Snoggletog with them
ft. hiccup, tuffnut, eret, snotlout, astrid, ruffnut
Tumblr media
⤷ Hiccup
Hiccup would be very excited. He would wake you up with soft kisses, then he would make you breakfast and then you two would spend whole day together doing lots of different things. Like riding your dragons, snow war, building a snowman and decorating your own small tree in your common house. You would make a hot chocolate together and after that you would go ice skating. But Hiccup don't know how to do it so you would have to teach him. Which would be lots of fun! Hiccup would made a special gift for you and he spend almost six months on it.
⤷ Tuffnut
Tuff would be excited as well. He would wake you up by him singing some Snoggletog/Christmas songs. He would try to make a hot chocolate or some cookies, but he would fail. So he ask you for help which you accepted with a smile, because he did a puppy eyes on you. Then he would want to attack his sister with snow balls so he starts a snow war and surprisingly you two win. Tuff isn't one of the creative people so he tried so hard to think about special gift for you. But he probably asked Ruff for help.
⤷ Eret
Eret never really celebrate Snoggletog so I can say it was his first. And what made him more happy was that he could spend it with you. You would have to show him everything. So you two made hot chocolate and snowman. Then you went on a walk around whole Berk. Eret would ask you on lots of question like why does vikings decorating this big wooden tree and much more. Only thing he knew about Snoggletog was that you are giving and reciving gifts. So he made you something from wood.
⤷ Snotlout
Snotlout was trying all day to impress you but all he did was embarrassed himself. But it was very cute see him try. Hookfang also had a lots of fun, because he teased Snotlout and made him fail in his many attempts to impress you. But one of the things Snotlout enjoyed the most was when he gave you his gift for you. He saw small sparkles in your eyes and how happy you was. He swear himself that day, he's gonna do everything to make you smile and keep you happy.
⤷ Astrid
Astrid would make yaknog ofc! But she wanted your real opinion, because she hates when you lie to her. So when you told her it wasn't good she was little sad, but then you decided to do a small changes on it that she was happy to help you with. And after that it was very delicious. So you decided to go to everyone and serve them yaknog 0.2 and everybody loves it. She would made you a gift as well and it was one of the best gifts.
⤷ Ruffnut
Ruff would want to build a snowman with you. Like whole snowman family and after that she would want to play a snow war which we already know that she lose to Tuff. And that made her little pissed so you had to comfort her mostly with kisses and hugs. After that she would want to bake something and she doesn't care what it is. Then she would want to prank all of her friends. She just want to a lots of things with you. Her gift would be with something you love the most.

Hello!
Congrats you’re my first request!
I hope I could do your request justice, enjoy
Just Talk To Me!
Hiccup x Reader
Word Count: 2.8k words
Summary: You and Eret have gotten pretty close due to your constant fighting practice. Of course, a certain chief isn’t too happy about it but he has a bit of trouble trying to tell you why.
Tumblr media
————————————————————
“You’re getting better at this!” Eret praised, ducking under your fist as you swung at him. He continued to dodge your strikes as you smiled.
You both had begun sparring together a few months ago, after the whole Dragon War fiasco. You realized that without your dragon, you weren’t as strong or as agile as the other Vikings, so you asked Eret to help you train.
You swept your foot under him, finally taking him down and putting your foot on his chest, signifying that you had one the fight.
“Have I gotten better, or have you just gotten worse?” You asked teasingly, taking your foot off of him as he smiled up at you.
You held out your hand to help him up. He obliged, taking it as he stood up once again, wiping off his clothes from that dust that truly didn’t even seem to be there.
“You’ve certainly made improvements since day one. I can tell you that.” He said, stretching a bit. “You could definitely do well even without your dragon, if you’d ever need to.” He continued, looking back at both of your dragons who were simply chilling off to the side, as they often did when you two fought.
“Hopefully there never comes a time.” You said in a lighthearted tone, but you truly hoped there would never be a time where you’d have to fair without your dragon.
“I second that. It’s funny, I never thought I’d ever change my ways when it came to dragons. Yet here I am, looking after this beast.” Eret joked, patting Skull Crushers head lightly causing the dragon to groan and slightly shake its head in response.
“Well I’m glad you had it in you to change, who knows maybe I would’ve taken you down myself.” You gloated sarcastically, walking towards the pair as Eret smiled back at you, acknowledging your joke.
“Yeah you wouldn’t have made it even close.” He let out a chuckle as he watched your teasing smirk turn to a pout. You knew his teasing was all in good fun but realistically if it had come to it you would’ve taken him out if you needed to.
“Just cause I’ve gotten better doesn’t mean I wasn’t skilled to begin with.” You reminded.
“Fair. Now how about best two out of three?” Eret asked, getting into a fighting stance which you very quickly mimicked. Just as you both were about to start fighting you had heard a very familiar growl come from above. Your head shot up towards the noise and you spotted none other than Hiccup Haddock, the chief of Berk, flying above you.
“Guess not.” You joked, no longer standing in a ready position as you turned to face the aforementioned chief who had landed not too far away from the both of you. Hiccup hopped off of Toothless with ease, slipping his helmet off in the process, and walked over to the two of you with Toothless close behind.
“Morning you two.” Hiccup greated, earning a nod of acknowledgement from the both of you. “What are you guys doing all the way out here?” He asked but you noticed it wasn’t in the sense of his usual curiosity. There was an underlying tone that you could quite put your finger on so you figured you were just simply thinking too much into it.
You hadn’t really thought about it but you suppose you and Eret were more or less in the middle of nowhere in the woods. It was the most quiet place the two of you could find to practice in peace without going to the Arena.
“Eret and I have been sparring, I figured I should eventually learn how, considering most of my strength comes from them.” You said, gesturing to your dragon who was sleeping peacefully only to be startled awake by Toothless patting them on the head. You couldn’t help but laugh a bit, Toothless always reminded you of a cat in a way, you found it adorable.
“Alone?” Hiccup asked, which honestly surprised the both of you. You looked towards hiccup in confusion only to see the shock he had on his own face. Clearly he didn’t mean to let it slip out but it was too late to take it back now.
“Well no… our dragons are here with us?” You stated but you were so confused about the reasoning behind Hiccups question that you couldn’t seem to phrase it as anything other than a question. You all fell silent as Hiccup swayed his arms in an awkward fashion, something he only does when he’s trying to avoid talking about something.
Eret looked between the two of you, realizing he had no part in the conversation he simply cleared his throat.
“I’ll just leave you two be, I have some… things to take care of..” He excused himself, quickly hopping onto Skullcrusher and exiting the awkward situation as quickly as possible. Once Eret had flown away you quickly turned back to Hiccup who was clearly avoiding even looking in your general direction.
“Spill it.” You said bluntly causing Hiccup to finally make eye contact with you. His face held a confused look but you both knew what you were talking about.
“I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.” Hiccup said, again clearly avoiding the topic as he walked over to Toothless. “Have you seen the new addition I added to Toothless’s tail?” It was clear he was trying to think of anything to change the subject because obviously there was nothing different about Toothless’s tail and you both knew that.
You crossed your arms as you stared at the brunette before you, your face holding an expression that clearly said ‘seriously?’. He dropped Toothless’s tail with a sigh before getting up and walking towards you. Silence quickly swept over the two of you as you continued to wait for Hiccup to say something. You raised an eyebrow at him before he blurted out,
“Have you seen the new scale armor?”, giving one more quick shot to derail the conversation.
“Hiccup.” You said quite sternly. “Spill it.” You repeated, your arms still crossed over your chest as you watched the man nervously fidget. He may be the chief but he still held some of his nervous quirks. Sure he had the ability to look powerful and calm when his people needed their chief, but when he wasn’t the ‘Chief of Berk’ he was just Hiccup.
Just Hiccup.
And you’d be damned if you said you didn’t love him. Ever since you met hiccup you knew he always tried to meet everyone’s expectations only to have a long history of falling short. Hiccup as he was was always overlooked, everyone looked to him to be ‘the Chiefs son’ the ‘next chief of Berk’ and the one he really struggled with, was ‘Stoick’s son’. No one ever truly looked at him as just Hiccup.
Well everyone except you.
You liked him from the very beginning when he was just a scrawny boy obsessed with earning his fathers approval. Did you have the courage to say anything about the way you felt? No of course not, why would you? As much as you loved to see him as ‘Just Hiccup’ you couldn’t deny the fact that he was still pretty far out of your league, especially given his title of ‘The Dragon Master’. What title did you have? Nothing.
Well you had the title of being one of his closest friends so you stuck with that as being enough for you.
“I just don’t think you and Eret should be so far away while training.” He finally spoke up. It was clear he was still keeping something from you but at least he gave you something to work with.
“Why?” You asked, trying to nudge more out of him. He put his hands on his hips. As he began to pace slowly in a circle.
“I don’t know, I just think it would be safer if you-“ Hiccup began only for you to cut him off.
“Hiccup we have two dragons here, one of them being Skull Crusher. I’d say it’s pretty safe to say nothings going to attack us out here.” You argued, now mimicking his pose with your hands on your hips.
“Well still I just don’t like the idea of you guys being alone.” He said, looking up at you. You rolled your eyes in response,
“Hiccup I already said, we’re here with the dragons. We’re not alone.” You stated as if it wasn’t getting through his head. It hadn’t even occurred to you that he was trying to hint at a different concern and you were missing the point entirely.
Your response only caused Hiccup to groan as his hand shot up to his face. He dragged his hands down his face as he turned around, now facing Toothless who simply looked at his friend in utter confusion. The dragon looked from you, then to Hiccup, then back to you. You simply shook your head with a shrug of your shoulders before Toothless walked away, deeming him your problem.
“Hiccup I don't understand why this is such a big issue to you, we used to be in the woods alone all the time together. You didn’t seem to have a problem with it then.” You stated quite bluntly.
“That was different!” He shouted. His face had ever so slightly turned the faintest hint of red, but it was still enough for you to notice. He seemed almost exasperated as you continued to swim around the very vague point that he was failing to get at.
“How was it any different than what me and Eret are doing? If anything it’s safer now because we’re both adults. Granted we did have a Night Fury with us back then…” You began to mumble to yourself, accidentally going off topic. Hiccup sighed, walking up to you and grabbing you by your shoulders. He was stern but still managed to be gentle as he forced you to look at him.
“I can’t control what you do or who you spend your time with, but I just don’t like that you and Eret spend so much time together, so far outside of the village, alone…” Hiccup said, practically laying it all out for you.
“Hiccup?”
“Yeah?”
“We’re not alone.”
Hiccup merely stared at you, eyes wide in shock as he tried to calculate your intelligence in that split second. He practically spelled it out for you and you still weren’t getting it.
What hadn’t occurred to him however, was that you had already caught on, you were just trying to get him to admit it himself. Granted, you had just caught on maybe seconds before, but you still thought it might be fun to mess with him a little. Besides, who were you to make the assumption that the Chief of Berk himself was jealous that you were spending time with another man. It could be considered a reach… Unless he just said it himself.
“Why don’t you want me to be alone with him so badly?” You asked, figuring you should try and at least break the loop that you two seemed to be stuck in.
“Because…” Hiccup began, trying to think of a way to phrase what he wanted to say. You waited patiently, just looking at him and occasionally switching your gaze over to the dragons who were chasing each other around.
“Because?” You repeated, waiting for his response. His green eyes staring back into yours. They looked almost as if they were trembling as they bounced between the features on your face.
“Why is it so hard to talk to you?” He shouted abruptly, quickly letting go of your shoulders and flung his arms into the air with an exasperated groan.
“If it was easier for you to tell me about the dragon you were keeping hidden from a village filled with bloodthirsty, war hungry Vikings, I’ m almost afraid of whatever this could possibly be.” You joked, trying to lighten his mood.
“It’s not the same thing.” He muttered in response as you laughed.
“How could anything you have to tell me be worse than that?” Hiccup sighed in response as he went back to pacing. Clearly it was his way of thinking about what to do next. It wasn’t a trait he often exhibited but you knew once he started pacing, whatever he was thinking about was pretty serious.
“It’s not about what I have to tell you, it’s about your response.” He finally said, you rolled your eyes lightheartedly. You’ve known this man for years, and in those years you’ve learned countless embarrassing facts about him that he had less of a problem about you knowing than ‘whatever he had to tell you’.
“What does my response have to do with anything? Hiccup, anything you have to tell me won't change anything.” You stated with a laugh as you tried to comfort him. You almost started to second guess what you thought he was going to tell you. If he was truly this worried about what he was going to say maybe it was actually a very serious matter?
“Ha, yeah you say that now.” He laughed sarcastically, quickly looking up at you before returning to his pacing.
“Hiccup, I'm serious.”
“So am I.”
If there’s one thing about Hiccup it was his stubbornness. Anyone would just shrug that off as a Viking thing but you knew if anything, it came from his father. As much as Hiccup would deny being able to compare to his father, he shared many similar traits with him. You knew it, his mother knew it, even Gobber knew it, but he frequently denied it.
Stubborn.
“Why are you so concerned about me and Eret in the first place?” You decided to bring up the last topic, because if he wasn’t going to get to the point, you were.
“Because…” He muttered quietly in response as if he was holding something back.
“Because what hiccup? Seriously, I know you have an issue with communication sometimes but you can't just keep dancing around the issue here-“ You rambled a bit but before you could continue, Hiccup interrupted you.
“Because I have feelings for you!” He blurted out suddenly.
You both froze. He turned away from you as you simply stared at him. He finally said it, he actually really said it.
“Hiccup…” You muttered quietly.
He didn’t move. He didn’t want to move. The last thing he wanted right now was to turn around and have to face the potential of rejection.
“Hiccup.” You called out again, walking towards him and lightly placing your hand on his shoulder. He finally turned towards you slightly, but he still refused to face you all the way. “You’re serious?” You asked, to which he simply looked at you with confusion.
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
“At least one of us finally admitted to it.” You joked. For some reason Hiccup had registered that you were making a joke, but not necessarily what you were joking about.
“Yeah okay, go on, laugh it out- wait.” Hiccup quickly turned back to you. You nodded with a smile, confirming his suspicion as he clearly thought he had misheard you.
“Wait but- for how long?” He asked excitedly, almost as if he didn’t believe you. “Oh this is great! I thought you were going to hate me for even saying anything about it, but you’re not! You feel the same-“ He cheered, slightly beginning to ramble as all of his previous anxiety seemed to just melt away.
You smiled as you watched him celebrate before quickly planting a quick kiss on his cheek.
The man froze before you, clearly not expecting even such a small act of affection. You never knew him to be entirely bold, you always saw him as a very awkward man, but you watched as the awkwardness practically jumped out a window for a split second or so as Hiccup grabbed you by the waist and pulled you closer to him.
He was the last person you’d expect such a smooth act to come from, and honestly you didn’t mind it. His eyes drifted from yours to your lips in a matter of seconds as if he was silently asking for your approval, to which you nodded.
Before you knew it you were kissing the literal man of your dreams.
It was wonderful.
It was a very soft kiss, the perfect kind to be shared for the first time.
Once you pulled away you looked to hiccup before dramatically gasping.
“What? What is it?” Hiccup asked, panicking that he had done something wrong.
“Does that mean… you were jealous of Eret?” You asked with a joking smile.
“Oh come on- really?” Hiccup said, jokingly pushing you away with a laugh.
Safe to say you never let him live this moment down, and much to his dismay you had excitedly told your friends about it not too long after.

There was no silence down here, not for long, stale air filled with the angry, mournful, tragic sulfurous breathing of dragons.
You curled in your cell, a square wooden thing with an open, vertical bars caging you in at one end of the wall. The rest room was filled with the violent sound of clanging metal and the hissing of beasts, a steady mix between a barely contained violence and mournful quiet.
Your hair was matted and clothes dirtied, your body pressed up against the cold ship walls as cages filled besides you. Your face was overshadowed by your unlit cell, all the nicer amenities including fire spent on places where the non-prisoner folk roamed.
The wood felt like ice through your boots.
Your stomach complained silently to you, burning a hole through your torso only you could feel.
You heard the rabble of the crew above in the silence between words, rushed feet stomping viciously against the wood floors as their muffled shouting and the clash of metal on metal filled your ears. You’d spent so long at sea that you’d lost track of time.
You wondered if a dragon above had broken loose. You hoped it did, and killed them all. You knew it was a lost cause.
You watched a dark brown, gray set of boots, not yours, across the way, shifting against charred wood, clenching your fists and digging dry, blood-caked fingernails into cut palms.
You listened to the rattling of chains below, the heavy breathing of dragons come together to make one loud synchronized voice. At times it made you feel as if the very wood of the ship was expanding and contracting with it.
It couldn’t have been any more than a week, maybe two.
Your arms were braced at either side of you, your back pressed up to the corner of your small, dank cell as the rocking of the ship became more intense.
You glowered at the stockily-built trapper in front of you, as if he might dissolve if you put enough malice into it. You hated Eret, Son of Eret, who stood with bravado between two stark cages containing a pair of chained and muzzled dragons.
A Nightmare, like the many lining the edges of this packed room you were stuck in, and a Scauldron.
He glared back, arms crossed over tans furs, a plaintive sneer marring his stone features as the rabble from above grew more intense.
“You cost us dragons.” He said, finally, his voice with heavy amounts of malice.
“You’re hunting them back,” You croaked, voice bordering a hiss just as sharp and jagged as the rest of the beasts locked up around you. Because your life was ruined, trapped here with the rest of the unwanted mongrels, the violent souls the unknowing Riders failed to save.
“You have to tell me,” He quieted down, speaking with controlled, exaggerated breaths.
The stomping from above grew just loud enough to finally draw his attention, breaking his facade for only just a moment. He shot a glance up the narrow stairwell towards the deck, then glanced back.
He was still incensed from your earlier argument. He wasn’t the rageful type, but you found that you had quite the penchant for making him mad.
“No,” It was so cold. You pushed down a wave of irritation, hugging your arms irritatedly in an effort to quell your shivers, and the chattering of your teeth.
The two of you stared at each other in silence as the ship rocked violently, men storming around above. You were at a verbal impasse.
“Either way, I’m trapped.” You broke it. You felt sometimes as if you were still in shock, because you felt no such thing, though you’d never heard of a shock lasting so long.
“I can’t help you, then.” Eret looked down on you, waving his hands angrily before dropping them onto his thighs.
“You were never goi-” You started, as the trapdoor covering the top of the stairs leading down burst open.
Slowly, steadily a large, scruffed man made his way down, each step dropping heavily against steep wooden staircases, taller than they were wide.
He was one of the thicker men, with a large reddish brown bear that was now stained ever darker by the blood running down his temple. He hunched in on himself, arm on his side, exchanging a meaningful look with Eret, who faced him fully.
“The- the masked- The dragons,” The man groaned angrily, blood dripping down from a large cut on the top of his head, just as a scream rang out from above.
“It’s- This early?” Eret’s head flipped towards you and back. He decided quickly that it was time for him to go, though his eyes promised that this wouldn’t be the end of it. You weren’t surprised, there never was an end.
He didn’t wait for an answer, moving forwards, face exposing his astonishment and determination, running up the stairs to the top, forcing the other man to stumble up with him.
You watched him go unblinkingly, listening to the happenings from above with apathy. Once again, you entertained the mild pipe dream that come what may, they would all be dead by the morning.
You remembered the way flesh felt on the other end of your knife, living, breathing and human. It terrified you just as you cursed the lot of them with it.
Your hands shook with grief.
The trapdoor fell to the ground with the loud, hollow slam of wood on wood, just as Eret’s foot disappeared up the hatch.
You listened to the dripping water, the sound of stomping as it traveled through the wood from directly above, the rustling of leathery skin and the storming water outside, to your back.
You listened to the sound of buzzing in your ears, closed your eyes as they unfocused and the sounds of fighting, the clash and the thump of fist against metal and metal against bone became obvious.
You ignored the splinters digging into your palms, a few out of many, and the blisters that grew there like fungi, a result of your constant grip on the hard surface and the friction brought on by the rough seas.
The rumbling of dragons grew louder as something hummed through the wood above, the sluggish, lazy, weighted sounds of leather dropping softly onto the deck and the delicate scratching of claws kindly rested against flooring, tapping against the metal detailing of the even larger, covered trapdoor that allowed the trappers to settle dragons into the jail.
It was like listening to the world’s worst shanty, all of that mindless noise come to a violent and discordant crescendo.
You listened to loud shouts demanding recompense, then even louder, panicked shouting to move.
Your face burned angrily.
One of the dragons must’ve escaped.
You sighed with bitterness, jealousy heating up your breath, causing you to expel air much like a dragon expelled fire.
You tensed your arms, released your nails from your palms, shook out your shoulder, anticipation and dread building in your gut.
Room grew hotter with such sudden ferocity that you were caught off guard, unaware until you yourself were nearly baking in it, the sudden onslaught of heat caused the dragons below to rear up, to grumble and crackle zealously and sweat boiled against your temples.
You searched for the source, eyes jumping erratically from side to side.
The wood above you blackened, eyes focusing on it with immediate clarity.
You startled as the metal embedded into your roof began to glow, simmering a bright, passionate orange before distorting, melting onto the wooden floor just outside your cell.
It was the sound of your breath, louder to your ears than any other, that had covered the breath of another.
You listened to the crackling hiss of fire, with the dying hope that it was the riders, come after you, finally. But you knew that wasn’t their modus operandi.
A hot jet of fire ripped through the wood floor with sudden ferocity, wood frames snapping viciously as it burst through to your floor that you tried to jump back, forgetting that you were already pressed flushed to the corner of your cell.
It brought your cell to unbearable degrees, infusing the air with smoke and ash and filling every one of your nerves with the urge to writhe away.
You blinked away the smoke with shaky waved hands and stinking, watery eyes.
You shook, squinting up towards the misty deck from where you were crumpled.
You could vaguely make out a hole had been burnt into the side of the ship, melting through the varnish and fireproofing as you left out, a new dragon crawling through the hole, slitted eyes taking in your surroundings with vigorous abandon.
Your breath caught. And a dragon, with a great, large crown of thick red spines and a flat, viciously-toothed face. It glared down into the hole with slitted eyes, and you pressed yourself back, praying it had not yet seen you.
It brought you back to your days on Berk before the peace, where everything you knew was ravaged and you could do nothing but hide and wait, ignorant to the flashing world around you. Except instead of your world being awash with a series of bright reds and the screams and shouts of VIkings in fiery battle, it was silent.
A world marked by muffled shouting and pounding of flesh on wood and something much less forgiving. The sounds of battle were not as loud as they should have been. There were too many a distant shout cut off suddenly and without abandon by the root.
You weren’t sure what was more frightening; Hearing the rest of the crew crumple and fail and hearing exactly how or being left to the silence, knowing deep down that you were next.
The catch and release of a bola reverberated over the silence, a deep hollow flinging sound hollowing your ears before fading off into the distance.
The disgruntled scream made by the beast came much too late after it was hit, tumbling off and around the side.
As it fell, it revealed something, someone…. For a moment, you had hope.
Overshadowed in your cell, you peered outwards.
Someone was in a mask, wrapped tightly in leather, their face covered by a heavily spined wooden slab.
They stood with their shoulders braced, stance confident and body lithe.
You couldn’t make out their face. The whole thing rendered them rather mysterious.
But it was someone.
You didn’t know there were any riders. You weren’t sure if they were a Rider.
You kept your head down, pushed up into the corner of your cage, deliberating whether or not you should move. You knew if you didn’t it would be your doom. You didn’t know if you could break the trance you found yourself in.
They peered into the hole, before a sharp, ragged dragon call drew them away, lean legs bringing them out of view and rendering them invisible in the mist.
You shivered.
You waited. And waited, counting the seconds in slow motion, listening to your breathing, experiencing every second. Watching the way ousted pieces of wood fell to the ground and shifted as the ship moved, watched as small embers shifted and puttered out, as the metal marking the front of your jail slowly, slowly cooled off, leaving a large, neary person-sized hole.
You could run.
Your breathing quickened. You should have spoken up
But now you could run.
You stared at your knife, hilted on a mount just by the staircase.
You stared at the melted metal cage and stumbled to your feet, nearly falling as you made your way over, trying to keep with the rocking of the boat and the dizziness clouding your thoughts and vision.
You stopped in front of it, hands on your knees, before you turned to the side, lifting your leg up ever so carefully and dropping it onto the other side, mindful of the metal that had just cooled itself still.
You felt your foot drop to the other side and you let out a breath of relief before catching it, leaning forwards hard in order to make up for the sudden jolt of the boat, hissing as you grazed the red end of a bar with your arm.
You felt skin there sting as it threatened to blister. You knew it would, later.
You came out the other end hopping on one foot, falling against one of the cages on the other side, grabbing the handle of the bar, gritting your teeth as hot metal burned your hands and pushing roughly away towards the stairs, nearly landing on your knees.
You looked back at the few dragons who hadn’t managed to escape, trapped and locked down in their cages, pressing close to the far corner.
A Nightmare, chained down but no less ferocious, blew smoke through the small allowance in its muzzle. It glared at you rebelliously just as you had Eret a while prior. Condemning, knowing.
You wondered if you had a right to free it, if you were just as bad as the ones who strapped it down, cut the points of its claws to nubs, let it burn itself to near death as the others laughed and jeered.
You couldn’t help but to reel back at the look in its eye, briefly imposed by the image of another.
You wondered if setting it free might give you brownie points with your masked hero. If they were here to play hero, that was.
You had a choice to make.
You slipped between the cages, You were much slimmer than most of the trappers on board. Slim enough to slim to the other side and grab ahold of one of the huge locks keeping a set of remaining dragons trapped.
They were built to be hardy, enough to keep the dragons locked in, but delicate enough for a person to undo on their own.
You wedged your knife into the lock, messing with the latch and cylinder until you heard that telltale loud release-click. You had become very familiar with that particular sound over the past few weeks.
You slipped to the side, fabric of your furs getting trapped on a sharp untrimmed end of the cage as a pillar of fire burst past, blowing a hole into the next cage over.
You pushed open the cage door, though not before the dragons had freed themselves, running from the hole and slithering up towards the top.
You scowled, “Beasts.”
You weren’t sure if you could muster anything besides bitterness for them.
Shaking your head, scanning the empty room, you decided to move, running up fast before crashing up through the trapdoor, causing whatever freed dragons there were to jump away.
Your arms shook as you ran across the deck, both invisible and vulnerable in equal measure.
Through the misty fog, you spotted some masked person in the middle of a fierce confrontation against two large men, which they ended by knocking one of them into the other and allowing their dragon, who had since recovered from the bola, to throw them offboard.
You hid around one of the crates, eyes darting around erratically, looking for a way off the ship, smelling something like freedom.
You ran and ran, hoping to maybe find a dragon to hitch a ride off, or at least a raft which you could use to continue to float aimlessly across the sea until you either found land or drowned.
You reached the edge of the ship, skidding to a stop, great pounding as you made eye contact with a figure standing tall at the bow, the same person as before, one food on the side of the ship, the other planted firmly on the ship’s deck and they stood tall above you.
You had pushed open the cages, freed the dragons. You had helped.
“Take me with you,” You pleaded, glancing back at the freed dragons behind you in the mist, fighting off trappers and making off for more open skies.
You wondered if they knew how a moment so inconsequential, a moment so small,  could become so holy to you. It was your poetry. It was your Pantheon.
You couldn’t tell anything about them besides their eyes, green and hard, the rest of their features hidden behind leather and rags. You thought you might look pathetic the way you were then in your worn, holed furs, torn to the thinness of rags.
Eerily, it reminded you of the moment you spent dangling off the edge of a cliff, looking into the eyes of someone with a very much similar build.
You stared at them, stuck in a moment of hesitation, which caused hope to well up like blood cut from your still beating heart. You pleaded with your eyes, shoulders, body language, let the knife in your hand loose.
Eerily, it reminded you of the moment you spent dangling off the edge of a cliff, looking into the eyes of someone with a very much similar build.
You imagined their faces, whatever lay under that mask and Hiccup’s, moving in the same way, though you prayed the outcome would not end up the same.
There was a time when you would have rather been in Hel alone than in Valhalla without him.
Eventually, after a long moment of silence and clear deliberation, the masked warrior shook their head no.
They turned, hooked staff shivering, bone parts wrapped to the staff with twine rattling, conveying a command you could not decipher in full.
The dragon got ready to take off. You tried to grab on to their coattails, the fins of their dragon, anything as they left. But you were too late.
You choked back a sob as you fell back down, hard against the deck.
Misty, separated by a curtain from the rest of the world, listening to the steady approach of footsteps from behind. You bared your teeth, knife at the ready, and swung.
You felt the blade drag though you couldn’t see against what before you were nicked back onto the ground.
Sopping wet, you struggled against the men who worked to hold you down.

httyd characters reacting on you having a cannibalistic dragon
ft. hiccup, eret, tuffnut, snotlout, grimmel, astrid, ruffnut, valka,

༺☆༻
⤷  Hiccup
-Hiccup would find it so cool but dangerous at the same time. He'd be really proud of you and he'll brag about it to others, saying something like "yeah heh my love actually has a cannibalistic dragon Deathgripper (od other dragon you like), she tamed him, cool hm?"
He'd ask a lot of question and will definitely write them into his notebook. He'd wanna know everything that's possible, most of all he'd want to know how you managed to tame it. He would touch it only if you are near so he's 100% sure that your dragon won't accidently hurt him, because your dragon listens only to you.
⤷  Eret
-Eret would be really surprise and he wouldn't trust your dragon that much. I mean he still has some hunter reflexes so even know when he doesn't hunt them anymore, he's still focused and careful around them, just in case after all they're just animals..
After some time he will get used to it, he would want to hear what your dragon can actually do, how to met it, tame it, all these stuff... maybe he would be interested more in some cool stories/memories of yours with your dragon like hunting with it. He'd also be really proud of you, telling others how cool his girlfriend is.
⤷  Tuffnut
-Tuff would find it epic and awesome and so cool! Like you managed to tame a cannibalistic dragon and now you are dating him?! He'd brag about you to his twin sister or Snotlout all the time, just to make them jealous.
He'd ask a lot of questions like if your dragon ever eat other dragon in front of you, if it does it often etc... but he'd never go and pet your dragon, never! When is Ruff being a little more annoying then usual, he'll tell her something like "you know what, i will tell y/n to come over with y/d/n (your dragons name), i bet it's hungry!" and this will shut her up most of the time.
⤷  Snotlout
-Snoutlout would brag about it the most, like really! Mostly to Hiccup or Fishlegs telling them how you're cooler then them and much tougher and badass. From the start he'll be confident saying stuff like he can tame dragon like this, that he himself has a pretty dangerous dragon, but soon as he hears your dragons roar, he's gone.
At night, when no ones listening, he whispers into your ear that he's proud of you and that you are strong and all these stuff just because you managed to tame your "special" dragon.
⤷  Grimmel
-Well Grimmel has himself cannibalistic dragons but he still holds big respect for you, because he control his dragons with venom, you somehow managed to tame it with your bare hands! He was thinking about it whole night when you first told him.
I believe he'd be more careful around your dragon because he can't control him, it's "wild" animal yk, so he's more careful because he knows what they can do.
⤷  Astrid
-Astrid would have a huge respect for you, because of that. She'd also ask a lot of questions and she would want to introduce your dragon to hers because Stormfly has her venomous thorns so Astrid thinks it will be alright.
She will often stare at you from a certain distance when you interact with your dragon, she admires you. She always say that you and your dragon are like beauty and the beast. Deep inside she thinks that you are much better then her, much stronger and cooler, but she'd never say that.
⤷  Ruffnut
-Ruff's reaction would be pretty similar to her twin brother's. She'd ask a lot of questions and be really really curious, with confidence until she sees your dragon, then all of the sudden she's hugging you from behind.
She admires you a lot, she finds you really really strong and badass because of it. And when she cannot sleep or when she's bored she will ask you to tell her the story how you tamed your dragon over and over again until she falls asleep, it's so cool that it's like a fairy tail to her, almost unreal.
⤷  Valka
-Valka lived with dragons most of her life so she knows everything but when you told her that you have a cannibalistic dragon (probably deathgripper) she was surprised and curious.
She'd want to meet him and try to "tame" it again, she knows dragon body language so if she notice that she's making your dragon uncomfortable, she'll stop. But be prepared for tons of questions even more then Hiccup would ask. She's really proud of you and really glad that she has such a strong partner.
