Female Red-winged Blackbirds have red wings too! Oftentimes they are easier to see when the bird is in flight, but the "epaulets" shine on this one as she gathers food for her nestlings on Female Bird Day.

A/N: so, i kinda changed this universe a little bit, where billy is the CEO of anvil and frank works there as his top agent. I'm picturing a mafia leader to be a very conservative and traditional man who pretty much doesn't think women should be in power, but i can assure that it does reflect in no way my own beliefs —this is just for the sake of the plot. Any triggering content will be specified in every chapter, but if I missed any, let me know :)
Redwinged Blackbirds are interesting to me because they are one of the harbingers of spring, they carry the German flag and a Pearl Jam song on their feathers, they have an interesting song and they are feisty when they defend a nest. They are also very beautiful, and the females none less than the males. In recent days, I have seen females a lot all over the yard and feeders, so there were good opportunities to get photos. I love the faint red on their shoulders.

The female blackbird and there juveniles are more inconspicuous on the move and wear a plain brown plumage. The throat is slightly lighter and streaked with brown.
