Bioware missed an opportunity by not having the inquisitor's family/clan/mercenary group make an appearance in Skyhold. It would have given a nice lull in world saving and expand on your Inquisitor's past a bit more. Like can you imagine your Inquisitor being woken up in the morning by Josephine rushing into your chambers to tell you your family/clan/mercenary group has basically invaded Skyhold within the small hours of the morning and are demanding/asking to see you? What would your inquisitor's reaction be?

In the years since my first playthrough I genuinely forgot how good Josephine's romance is, like I'm only on the first flirt and the game is already giving me everything I want for Josie and Calla:
Tumblr media
Josie: You weren't a violent criminal, were you? 😲 Calla: That depends, would you find that sexy? 😏 Josie: 😲 🤔 😳

guess who fought with a mf for her favorite choccy croissant
anyhoo, one more quick lagertha art. she definitely rocked a buzzcut for some time and i’m thinking to give her dnd version more dwarf-ish tattoos (aka geometrical looking)
anyway i love and miss her in action dearly

Which of the 2 character voices did you pick for Nina & is that actually how you imagine her voice?
the american one! i only chose it bc for some reason i cant stand the english female voice i don’t know what it is but i watched a ton of videos with her back in the day and when she’s asking npcs questions she always sounded so like... placid to me idk? so like politely uninterested and especially awkward w characters like sera idk. on a character level, i think there are some cadashes (upper rank smooth talker traders and spies) you could play with that voice, but it’s way too posh for the way i play nina. im realising as i type this the english va probably also has an accent most similar to my own JGSHSKSK internalised anglophobia. hate wins <3
i do imagine nina’s va as her voice, it took a little getting used to and i wasn’t sure about it at first but now it just. is her voice. she should sound a little younger though i think. a tiny bit higher and more uncertain? but it works as it is, i feel like the va is kind of an act she’s used to putting on trying to sound tougher than she is

Prompt: I need a teenage inquisitor who accidentially keeps calling Solas 'Dad' (for obvious reasons.) Bonus if it's a non-elf. Brownie points if other companions react to it.

Today I used the DA:I character creator to make my current D&D character, Daylight Coalburn. She's a dwarf bard. The female dwarf creator didn't have the right beard so I made her on the male creator 😂😂. I might make an alt account for future art stuff/non DA:I related stuff but I figured since I used the DA:I character creator for this it was still somewhat appropriate.

FANFIC: Cheating the Dread Wolf by cartadwarfwithaheartofgold
I read this story long ago all in one sitting. It absolutely gripped me, tugged at my heartstrings, and wouldn't let me go. A Cadash/Solas/Varric Tethras rare pair, you have to give this a try.
Rating: E Pairing: Female Cadash/Solas, Female Cadash/Varric, Varric/Solas Chapters: 13/13 Length: 42,657 words Summary: Maria Cadash hung up the Inquisitor's mantle for the Viscountess' crown, but she's unable to stop her desperate and impossible struggle to stop Fen'Harel from destroying the world both her husband and daughter inhabit. The fact Varric, Maria, and Solas are all madly in love with each other just means she may have enough of an edge to win this game.

I'm tagging a lot of people on this one because I want to get this KICKSTARTED. Dragon Age is coming BACK this summer, and I'm trying to get twitter refugees who don't know anyone on tumblr to realize that there's a thriving DA fandom that has been here the whole time. But feel free to recommend from other fandoms! I love finding new fics and new artists to follow.

Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts Pt. 13
Dance with the Duchess
Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts Masterpost First: Gaining an Invitation Previous: Briala to the Rescue
The PC enters the ballroom and is approached by Florianne.
Florianne: Inquisitor [Adaar/Lavellan/Trevelyan/Cadash]? We met briefly. I am Grand Duchess Florianne de Chalons. Welcome to my party.
Dialogue options:
General: May I help you? [1]
General: You have interesting timing. [2]
General: Not now. [3]
1 - General: May I help you? PC: Is there something I can do for you, Your Grace? Florianne: Indeed you can. [4]
2 - General: You have interesting timing. PC: Why am I not at all surprised that you want to see me now? Florianne: This is Orlais, Inquisitor. Nothing happens by accident. [4]
3 - General: Not now. PC: I have urgent business to attend. Florianne: That is why I am here. [4]
4 - Scene continues.
Florianne: I believe tonight you and I are both concerned by the actions of… a certain person. Come, dance with me. Spies will not hear us on the dance floor.
Dialogue options:
General (female PC): Two women dancing? [5] -10 Court approval
General: Let’s dance. [6] +10 Court approval
General: Let them hear us. [7] -15 Court approval
General: Not right now. [8]
General (locked in romance): I’m seeing someone. [9]
5 - General: Two women dancing? PC: Should two women really be dancing together? Florianne: My dear Inquisitor, we are the most important people in the room! It would be more scandalous if we did not dance. [10]
6 - General: Let’s dance. PC: Very well. Shall we dance, Your Grace? Florianne: I’d be delighted. [10]
7 - General: Let them hear us. PC: I don’t care what the spies overhear. Florianne: You should. They report your every look and gesture directly to your enemies. Come. [10]
8 - General: Not right now. PC: I have other matters to attend to first. Florianne: I assure you, this discussion is your highest priority. [10]
9 - General: I’m seeing someone. PC: I’m already taken, Your Grace. Florianne: Your lover has nothing to fear. This is business, not pleasure. [10]
10 - Scene continues.
The PC and Florianne decent the stairs to the ballroom floor.
Florianne (Qunari PC): The Tal-Vashoth are hardly known for political maneuvering. Just what interest do you have in our little war? Florianne (Dalish PC): Have the Dalish gained a sudden passion for politics? What do you know about our civil war? Florianne (dwarf PC): I’ve never thought the Carta could tell one human from another. Just how much do you know about our civil war? Florianne (human PC): You are from the Free Marches, are you not? How much do you know about our little war?
Dialogue options:
General: I was briefed by my staff. [11]
General: Why don’t you educate me? [12]
General: As much as I care to. [13] -10 Court approval
Human PC: Orlais is everyone’s business. [14] +5 Court approval
Nobility: Orlais’ war is Thedas’s war. [15] +5 Court approval
11 - General: I was briefed by my staff. PC: My advisors keep me informed. Florianne: One would hope the Inquisition’s leaders had a proper understanding of politics. [16]
12 - General: Why don’t you educate me? PC: What do you think I ought to know? Florianne: My brother and my dear cousin have been at each other’s throats for too long. [16]
13 - General: As much as I care to. PC: I know as much as I need. Florianne: Such wit and vivacity. You dazzle me. [16]
14 - Human PC: Orlais is everyone’s business. PC: I assure you, the effects of this war reach far beyond the borders of the Orlesian Empire. Florianne: Perhaps it does. I should not be surprised to find the empire is the center of everyone’s world. [16]
15 - Nobility: Orlais’ war is Thedas’s war. PC: It doesn’t matter where you’re from, Your Grace. Everyone knows what’s happening in the empire. Florianne: I… I often forget about the world outside of the Imperial Court. [16]
16 - Scene continues.
Florianne: It took great effort to arrange tonight’s negotiations. Yet one party would use this occasion for blackest treason. The security of the empire is at stake. Neither one of us wishes to see it fall.
Dialogue options:
General: I can agree with that. [17] -10 Court approval
General: Is that what we both want? [18] +10 Court approval
General: That’s why I’m here. [19] -10 Court approval
17 - General: I can agree with that. PC: I think I can agree with that, yes. Florianne: Then you have lifted a terrible burden from my heart, Inquisitor. The world is filled with doubt and uncertainty. Fear rules more hearts than any empire. [20]
18 - General: Is that what we both want? PC: Do we both want that, Lady Florianne? Florianne: I hope we are of one mind on this. PC: In times like these, it’s hard to tell friend from foe, is it not, Your Grace? [20]
19 - General: That’s why I’m here. PC: I’m here to make sure it doesn’t. Florianne: Perhaps the Maker truly has sent you to us. The world is filled with doubt and uncertainty. Fear rules more hearts than any empire. [20]
20 -Scene continues.
Florianne: I know you arrived here as a guest of my brother, Gaspard. And have been everywhere in the palace… You are a curiosity to many, Inquisitor… and a matter of concern to some.
Dialogue options:
General: I’m here to help. [21] -10 Court approval
General: Which am I to you? [22] +5 Court approval
General: Not my problem. [23] -10 Court approval
21 - General: I’m here to help. PC: There’s no need for concern. I’ve come here to help Orlais. Florianne: “Helping Orlais” has a variety of meanings depending on whom you ask. Kindness to some is cruelty to others. You cannot be a savior to them all. To some, you must be a monster. [24]
22 - General: Which am I to you? PC: Am I the curiosity or the concern to you, Your Grace? Florianne: A little of both, actually. This evening is of great importance, Inquisitor. I wonder what role you will play in it. [24]
23 - General: Not my problem. PC: The court can think whatever they want. It makes no difference to me. Florianne: It should matter. The people here could be powerful allies. Or powerful enemies. You should choose carefully which ones you intend to provoke. [24]
24 - Scene continues.
Florianne: Do you even yet know who is friend and who is foe? Who in the court can be trusted?
Dialogue options:
General: I trust Briala. [25] -10 Court approval
General: I trust Gaspard. [26] -10 Court approval
General: I trust Celene. [27] -10 Court approval
General: Who do you trust? [28] +5 Court approval
General: I trust the Inquisition. [29] +5 Court approval
Underworld: I trust no one. [30] +5 Court approval
25 - General: I trust Briala. PC: I believe the ambassador is my best ally. Florianne: How far will you go, I wonder, for the sake of that allegiance? [31]
26 - General: I trust Gaspard. PC: The grand duke has my full confidence. Florianne: How far will you go, I wonder, for the sake of that allegiance? [31]
27 - General: I trust Celene. PC: If you can’t trust the empress, who can you trust? Florianne: How far will you go, I wonder, for the sake of that allegiance? [31]
28 - General: Who do you trust? PC: An excellent question. I might ask the same of you, Your Grace. Florianne: In the Winter Palace, everyone is alone. [31]
29 - General: I trust the Inquisition. Female PC: I only trust the Inquisition. It’s every woman for herself here in the Imperial Court. Or so I’ve heard. Male PC: Inquisitor: I trust the Inquisition, Your Grace. Every man for himself in the Imperial Court, after all. Florianne: In the Winter Palace, everyone is alone. [31]
30 - Underworld: I trust no one. PC: If I’ve learned anything, Your Grace, it is to put my trust in no one. Florianne: In the Winter Palace, everyone is alone. [31]
31 - Scene continues.
Florianne: It cannot have escaped your notice that certain parties are engaged in dangerous machinations tonight.
Dialogue options:
General: I have noticed that. PC: I have seen a few… signs to that effect.
General: Isn’t everyone? PC: I thought “dangerous machinations” were the national sport in Orlais.
General: Tell me what you know. PC: If you know something, tell me.
Choice dependent dialogue:
High court approval [32]
Low court approval [33]
32 - High court approval: +15 Court approval
The PC dips Florianne. The crowd applauds.
Florianne: You have little time. The attack will come soon. You must stop Gaspard before he strikes. In the Royal Wing garden, you will find the captain of my brother’s mercenaries. He knows all Gaspard’s secrets.
The dance concludes, the PC and Florianne bow.
Florianne: I’m sure you can persuade him to be forthcoming.
PC: We’ll see what the night has in store, won’t we?
Scene ends.
33 - Low court approval: -15 Court Approval Florianne swings the PC around and sort of pushes them on the dance floor. The crowd laughs and applauds.
May Andraste guide you, Inquisitor.
Scene ends.
Next: Reconvene with the Advisors

it's sunday so have the first shipping call for this blog !
muse list is beneath the cut since i don't have javascript back yet :/ this isn't a guarantee of a ship on either end, but rather you letting me know you're interested in developing one! i don't autoship very much and i definitely like to headcanon jam a bit before jumping into a dynamic. but there's absolutely no harm in asking, asking is not forceshipping, so if you want to try out a dynamic pls comment!

Fanfiction Writer Questions!
Was tagged by the very lovely @optiwashere some time ago, and I've only just had the chance to sit down and take a crack at this!
Not gonna tag anybody, but if you read this and want to do it, consider yourself tagged!
(Also this is talking about a lot of fics that I've written but not published because well... that's just how it's been lmao...
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
13 at the moment. I’ve deleted a few things that I’m not entirely proud of/works that I’m planning on rewriting and improving upon.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
26,031 (my WIP folder has almost 100k words, if we want any comparison)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mainly Dragon Age! Although AO3 is misleading… I’ve only got 7 fics on there for Dragon Age. But these don’t include the ones I’ve deleted and also the literal hundreds of WIP documents in my writing folder. It’s become quite a problem. I’ve also been writing for Baldur’s Gate 3 a bit more recently, but those fics are on hold because of lack of time/motivation/the fact I’ve not finished the game yet and want to do my research and understand characterisation and plot better.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. a lesson in grief (T-rated, Vi/Caitlyn from Arcane) 2. slip away (G-rated Gen-fic from Hades 2020) 3. Names (G-rated Fenris/Female Hawke from Dragon Age) 4. Anxious Grief (T-rated, Cassandra Pentaghast/Male Cadash from Dragon Age) 5. Fear and Forgiveness (G-rated, Dorian Pavus/Male Adaar from Dragon Age)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to! Every single comment I get is like fuel to my brain so I love and appreciate each one!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I think I did toy around with a fic where I left Hawke in the Fade. The process of getting into Fenris’ headspace during that was way too painful for me to continue.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics tend towards happy endings, even if they pack a lot of angst in the body of em. Of the ones I’ve got published, I’d say Names.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven’t, but then again I post so rarely and sporadically so people forget I even exist huhu.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
… Yes… (and that’s all im gonna say)
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I’ve not written crossovers per se, I’m more of an AU kinda guy. Though there’s definitely an ancient story I wrote back when I was like 13 that had like, every single bit of media I’d ever loved merged into one, and the excuse was that I’d just read His Dark Materials and wanted my own universe where everything I loved existed at once. COMPLETELY self-indulgent shit.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know…
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope! At least not that I know of.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Again no… I’ve not done a lot of stuff huhu!
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
It’s the one and only. The girls that live rent free in my head. The girls that deserve everything. (It’s Josephine Montilyet/my Inquisitor from Dragon Age Inquisition)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
It’s the Dragon Age Inquisition rewrite I’ve been complaining about for the longest time. It’s become the pet project I keep poking at whenever I have the energy to. All my Tashak/Josephine fics are set within this, and honestly at this point, instead of making one large fic, I might as well just post the disjointed chapters separately even if they don’t make sense. I’ve got WIPs in the folder from 2016. It’s out of control.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’d like to think I’m good at descriptive writing, at drawing the reader into the scene and pulling them along with the story.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I’m so bad at dialogue it’s not even funny. Also, my writing can tend towards too much rambling – I guess that’s just because it’s the way my brain works.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
The only other language I’m fluent in is Malay, and I really can’t imagine myself writing in that unless in very specific circumstances.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Dang, I think it was probably for BIONICLE. Way back when I was like, in secondary school.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Published? Names. There’s stuff in there I still feel jealous of, even today. Unpublished – a bunch of stuff for Aforementioned Dragon Age Rewrite. I should really post stuff from there at some point LMAO…

Snippet of the WIP you are currently working on?
“Shit. Shae!”
It was rare to hear him call her by name, but she couldn’t really appreciate it in the moment. She was seeing black spots now. The pain was making her nauseous, making it even harder to breathe. She let herself topple into his room.
“What in the Void happened to you?”
“Met your boy. Hawke.”
“Did he do this?”
“Nah,” she gasped out as Varric lifted her bodily off the floor and set her down on his bed. Vaguely she noticed that he’d thrown a dark blanket over his rumpled sheets so she didn’t bleed all over them. “Coterie, I think.”
“You think,” he repeated dourly. He was pulling at her boot, and she hissed in pain as it jostled her injured side. “Maker’s Balls, you’re a mess. You need a surgeon.”
“Risky.” Too risky.
“Yeah. Yeah, all right. Give me a minute to get some stuff together.”
She knew she was going to pass out any second and fumbled for his hand before he got too far away from her. “Hawke. You were...curious.”
“Not now, Shae. Tell me after I clean you up.”
She shook her head, uncaring that it spun. It was entirely possible she’d bleed out first. “Mage.”
Then it was quiet and dark in her head and Varric’s exclamation was distant.

The Ascent
Prologue: Sleeping Giants
Pairing: f!Cadash & Solas (gen) Characters: Female Cadash, Solas Fandom: Dragon Age: Inquisition Other Tags: Dwarf Lore, Elvhenan Lore, Cadash Thaig, Cad’halash Thaig
Summary: "Cadash" had always been more than a name for Thora: it was her family, it was her history, it was her. But the Stone tells no tales of exiles. Although she thanked the ancestors with the same lips that sang the Chant, she never felt she knew them, and feared she never would. When the Titan's song lures them into the depths of the Deep Roads, she finds the chance she's been looking for her whole life. Cadash Thaig is within her grasp, she only has to reach for it.
The earth shakes like the sky before a storm. Weeks beneath the surface, and yet Solas feels the tremors under his feet, as though the source still lies miles beneath them.
It speaks again, softer this time, mumbling in the voice of a Titan. Only a few pairs of eyes lift to watch the ceiling quiver, the rest having acclimated days ago. Varric’s attention, as always, turns to their exit to assure himself it’s still there. Their Inquisitor looks, too, but with different eyes. Not nervous, but inquisitive. Listening with intent to a foreign language she strains to understand, and when the shaking ceases her expression falters, tight with shame as her gaze falls back to her book. For Solas it is an old, familiar sound, the echo of an ancient quarry, newly awakened, and does not distract him long. He turns the wooden spoon around the dinner pot, stirring the pieces that had settled at the bottom before they begin to blacken.
“Do you think it knows we’re here?” Varric asks in a low, nervous tone, deliberately spoken so that Valta does not overhear (although Solas doubts she would pay them any mind, either grief or fascination distracts her from their gossip). He looks and finds her now engaged in conversation with the Inquisitor, though her attention seems divided, suspended between the person before her and a force beyond their sight. Satisfied they will not offend the Shaper, he looks back to Varric, whose eyes now glance furtively around the high ceiling.
“It’s difficult to say,” he muses. “We lie so far beneath its notice it may not be truly aware we are here, and yet the Sha-Brytol greet us like a fever come to burn away the disease.”
“Always with the cheerful observations, Chuckles. I suppose a little reassurance is too much to ask for?”
“You misunderstand,” he says. “A soldier who’s weathered a thousand battles may still succumb to plague— an adversary so small it could pass through the eye of a needle.”
“So we’re what in this scenario, a summer cold?”
A smile tugs at his lip. “If you like.”
