Renegade Nell is really good. I liked how instead of making the youngest sibling special in some kind of way they made the second oldest have something special. The middle child is often forgotten in these types of stories and it was nice to see. Obviously it’s something on their mother’s side is where the magic comes from, it was said that both Nell and her sister Roxy take after their mother the most. I love a strong female character and especially one that can handle her own. The fight scenes were amazing.

My formative experience with pro-wrestling is from the 80's (dating myself…) In that era holds and moves like sleepers, Boston crabs, figure four leg locks, suplexes, powerslams, neckbreakers, and so on… Well every one of those was often a match ender, frequently with the adjective "dreaded" applied before them.
At the same time, women's wrestling was already turning into… Well outside of Japan it was kind of become a joke. An exercise in titillation and a laugh. As for any suspension of disbelief that you were watching a genuine contest? Well forget it…
Part of me wishes I'd been able to see more of the women's wrestling from the 50's and 60's. Like this.
Inspiration taken.
This is a workout. There's no ref but there is a Ladies' agreement (as opposed to Gentleman's) that the goal is not to mess anyone up. Tap outs are recognised and our various slams and throws are all holding back - just a little bit. Teah's high flying style doesn't lend itself well to 90% effort (gravity doesn't know how to back off), so this one is staying well within the four corners and top rope or lower.
Unfortunately for Teah, that means her one potential advantage against Hinako is lost, and it's been showing. Hinako is quite open that she's got something she wants to try out and work on today. After being forced to tap out the third time Teah has a pretty good idea what it is. Looking out for it now, Teah is aware of and on high alert for Hianko's (dreaded) cobra clutch attempts.
Alas, alertness and preparedness doesn't seem to be making much of a difference. Sometimes she even sees it when it's coming…
Does not seem to be making much of a difference alas…
Teah has lost count. The number of times she's be caught like this now is easily up in the double digits. She can't figure out how to see it coming reliably. Whether she sees it coming or not she can't figure out how to block it. And once she's caught?
Teah knows that Hinako isn't cranking down 100%. She tried to fight it twice and went to sleep. The other times she tapped out. The frustration is getting pretty real, and she's really asking herself if she's willing to tap again.
When Teah wakes up Hianko thanks her for the workout, but reckons that's enough for both of them today.

Although Myanimelist credits Fighter with an appearance in Goblin Slayer season 2 - that is, in sixty seconds to the minute of victim shaming, misogyny and race baiting - I'm fairly satisfied that she only appears in a flashback. Satisfied in every sense that Susan Shuang 'Fighter' Lei has as little to do with an obscene production as she can manage, and that flashbacks to season 1 highlight that Goblin Slayer has never been anything but the disgusting rape porn, victim silencing and toxic male fantasies epitomised by nothing so much as episode 1 except for the irredeemable victim shaming of Shield Maiden. Once again, if you think Goblin Slayer has any more significant qualities than the racism and misogyny undeniably baked into its premise, you need to adjust your priorities - although idiocy is the only other quality that it does in fact possess.
Fighter, with Harry 'Hotspur' Fawkes and Ilsa 'Wizard' Tresckow, is a true survivor of Goblin Slayer's lies and degradation - Goblin Slayer is not a fiction but a lie, because racism and misogyny are lies. Nothing Kumo writes or the anime and manga display are worth acknowledging the existence of, except to condemn them. It doesn't matter one jot if season 2 has the hypocrisy to pretend to show her recovery in some little village - her life is in a greater world elsewhere, still fighting beside her friends against real monsters.

Gwen is used to overpowering her opponents, either out brawling them, picking them up and smashing them into the mats repeatedly, or just grabbing hold and hitting the squeeze until the submission pops out (or their lights - Gwen isn't choosy).
Trying to out brawl Lucy is an interesting strategic choice. In addition to a chin of stone Lucy has a brick at the end of each arm when she throws a punch. The high school state wrestler knows how to bounce off the ground, and she also knows how to bounce her her opponent. And as for that squeeze?
Gwen gets close with the bear hug. Lucy is obviously in trouble and is struggling for the angle that would enable her to throw an elbow or punch to the side or top of Gwen's head with enough force to break the hold. In the end, almost desperately, Lucy pushes herself even higher in Gwen's embrace, to the point that the Crusher can lift her legs and cross her ankles around Gwen's ribcage. Awesome though Gwen's bear hug may be, under a level of pressure that will make her own ribcage separate she has to let go. Fortunately the spine buster she uses to plant Lucy on her back breaks the scissor hold also.
Back to work, the match has been largely one way since then, but Lucy won't stay down and Gwen is getting gassed. The attempted body splash into the corner misses when Lucy moves out of the way. Staggered and ribcage feeling like it's injured, Gwen wobbles backwards into Lucy's waiting belly to back. Gwen ends up completing the rest of the move into the centre of the ring in the air.
Gwen is injured and dazed, but Lucy is not taking any chances and moves quickly.
Gwen regains her senses very quickly. That's a common side effect of this much pain.
Lucy has escaped Gwen's signature. Gwen does not escape Lucy's.
The bell rings....
