An international team of Earth scientists, evolutionary biologists and paleontologists has unearthed an ancient frog with a belly full of eggs, the oldest known find of its kind. In their paper published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B, the group describes the frog, where it was found, how long ago it lived and where it fits in the frog family tree. Prior research has shown that female frogs produce eggs in their bellies, and once mature, the eggs are laid and then fertilized by a male. In this new study, the research team uncovered a fossilized frog in the Zhonggou Formation of the Hanxia outcrop. Testing showed it to be from the Lower or Early Cretaceous, suggesting the frog lived approximately 100 million years ago, during the time of the dinosaurs.

𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝟎𝟎°𝟎𝟎’ - 𝟏𝟑°𝟐𝟎’
The animal of this nakshatra is a male wolf or a male dog.
A dog is the most fascinating creature on this planet.
It can love to a point that it will give its life for you or it can bite and throttle someone’s bone if they cross their territory.
They are needy, emotional, and pack animals. They always want to be with you and feel abandoned when you go to work.
Dogs are not directly connected with wolf’s lineage as many think, rather a different species of wolf, which lived 30,000 years ago but there are few similarities.
Wolves on the other hand are wild, sharp, smart and know how to pack hunt.
Wolves are some of the smartest hunters in the wild.
The most distant feature of the wolf is their howling during full moon nights or when the member of the pack dies.
Mula individuals gets attached very quickly and don't want to let go, just like a dog, which is the animal symbol of the nakshatra.
Mula is the root, the male dog develops deep roots not only in their master’s heart but also with other family members.
Mula natives are attached with their family, spouse, children or friends.
Once they are your friends, they are your friends regardless.
A male dog is more playful most of the time vs. female dog.
Mula natives are quite playful but their playfulness can be painful just like the sharp paws of the puppy or dog.
They can play rough and they don’t realize they have hurt the other person.
The symbol of Mula nakshatra is the roots, roots of a tree, plant or even our own roots.
Roots grow underground hence, invisible.
We only see what is in front of us growing above the ground.
Mula natives are the embodiment of their roots, their past; their ancestors.
They love to be detectives, search the past, like an archaeologist or paleontologist.
The roots can be completely uprooted especially when taking out a dead plant or removing trees to clear out a land.
Native who have clusters of Mula in their chart will always have the tendency of uprooting their life without a hint.
Even if everything is fine in a relationship, career or some idea, they just completely bulldoze and clear it out to pave a way for something new.
Mula natives may love studying the roots of plants and trees.
Sometimes, the basic meaning of things would be the biggest karma of a person, like a Ashwini native would be training horses for a living.
Mula natives would also love eating things which are buried under ground like potatoes, beats, ginger, garlic, onion; some even have a fascination with cemeteries and graveyards.
The deity of Moola nakshatra is Nirriti, the goddess of destruction.
She is the goddess who brings new creation, after destruction.
She is described as having golden locks, dark, and connected with the underworld.
She is very much similar to goddess Kali.
Goddess Nirriti rules the South West direction and is supposed to have come from the anus of Brahma in the creation myth.
There are variations of Daksha’s yagna story in which goddess Nirriti is supposed to have accompanied Rudra to destroy Daksha’s yagna.
Kali is the fierce form of goddess Durga, who stopped her destruction only after Shiva himself surrendered to her feet.
Nirriti is also connected with goddess Dhumavati, one of the ten Mahavidyas as well as goddess Alakshmi, also called as Jyeshtha, the goddess of poverty, is the elder sister of Lakshmi.
Lakshmi is the goddess of prosperity is supposed to visit Jyeshtha, her elder sister on every Saturday on the Pipal tree.
Lakshmiji follows and visit their home, who pay respect to the Pipal tree on Saturday.
Kali is connected to the black hole that is driving the center of the Milky Way, and her connection with Shiva is pointing to the Ardra-Moola nakshatra axis, with a black hole at the center of the Milky Way.
After reading the mythology the first impression we have for Mula natives is that they are followers of Kali, especially in Indian culture.
Someone in a foreign country from Celtic culture may worship a dark goddess like Carawin or Erzulie Dantor in Voodoo, which is a white magic to heal and protect people.
Laxmiji blesses a person who worships the Pipal tree where Jyeshtha resides and shows great love and admiration of her elder sibling.
Mula natives will protect their siblings and when someone does well for their siblings they would bow and protect them like their own sibling.
Just like the fierce goddess Kali these natives are fierce too.
They will challenge, stand up to anyone and take out the roots of beliefs and tradition in an instant.
Like their yoni animal, they can become Pit Bulls.
The position of Mula in the sky points towards the supermassive blackhole region of the galaxy.
So far we know nothing about inside a black hole, no one has been near it, inside it, and most are theoretical observations of scientific models.
Mula natives are as mysterious as the black hole; they can suddenly be comedians and then quickly turn into a killer like “The Joker”.
They are quite unpredictable with chaotic energy around them.
We do know via science that light doesn’t escape the black hole and it tends to suck everything around it; for this reason a Mula person must redirect their energy into a positive spiritual path because they will see how quickly they start sucking the energy of other people towards them and others would enjoy sinking into their spiritual hole.
However, the general population is not spiritual and neither desire to walk on that path.
A Mula person can be quite intense to be around, where you may feel they suck your energy.
A black hole crushes everything that comes near it hence, the Mula native also love to crush things, for example if they drink a can of coke they will crush it and throw it away, or someone who loves to see cars and other materials be crushed and destroyed by monster trucks or tanks.

Watch ARK: The Animated Series!!!!
So, I binged ARK: The Animated series today. It's a TV show, which is based on a video game and not only is it great but, I swear to God, whoever wrote this set out with the intention of pissing off the Gamerbro crowd as much as humanly possible.
Stuff that will make the Gamerbros cry and whine like little babies: 01). Main Character is a Aboriginal Australian Lesbian (Voiced by an Aboriginal Australian Actress no less). 02). Main Character's wife is a blue haired women who works as a translator for a humanitarian air organization (voiced by Elliot Page). 03). Main Character is a neurodivergent paleontologist. 04). Main Character's mother was a civil rights activist. 05). There's a plot line revolving around protesting the taking of Aboriginal lands. 06). Another major character is a Chinese Warrior Woman who is also a great big lesbian (voiced my Michelle Yeoh). 07). Main villain is a Roman General (Voiced by Gerard Butler) 08). Secondary Villain is an 19th century British Scientist (Voiced by David Tenant) 09). Tertiary Villain is a female Roman Gladiator. 10). Another major character is a Lakota man from the 19th century who was abducted from his tribe and sent to one of the Indian boarding schools. 11). The Main Character is better at science than the 19th Century British Scientist guy.
Great things about the show: 01). It's very gay. Like, so gay. 02). The characters are freaking awesome. 03). There are freaking dinosaurs. So many dinosaurs. 04). It makes you feel. Just, seriously, it makes you fucking feel.
Cons: 01). Content Warning: Self Unaliving in episode 1 02). This show is fucking violent. Like, I get that there's this whole 'battle for survival' thing going on, but we're talking kind of gratuitous 03). levels of violence. Seriously, half the animation budget was spent on red paint. That much violence. 04). The show is predictable AF. Like, I don't mind that, but don't expect any real surprises or plot twists.
In conclusion: Watch the fuck out of this show, because cons aside, it was freaking amazing. It's not like, Arcane levels of perfection, but if you want a fun, gay, show to watch, this is a great choice. There is also a part too already filmed and in the can which will drop later this year, so we're definitely getting more, and even the preview for Part II has gay in it.

SCIENCE SATURDAY: Sexual Dimorphism
Yup, we're having a sex talk...sort of.
Tumblr media
Sexual Dimorphism is a condition in which males and females of the same species exhibit different morphological (that's a fancy word for physical) traits. Here are some modern day examples:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many male birds have flashy feathers and songs to attract mates. Male deer like Elk have antlers that they use to attract females and battle it out with other males in dominance fights. Beta fish males have bigger fins and flashier colors than females. Male frogs and toads tend to be smaller than females. Even humans are sexually dimorphic with different body shapes and males typically being larger.
Tumblr media
Ammonites too may have also been sexually dimorphic. Paleontologists are always working with only half the picture but we can make some pretty damn good educated guesses. Because ammonites are so abundant we can make some observations as whole like the crazy size disparity in some species.
Tumblr media
This is Bifericeras and for a long time, we thought these were two different species that just happened to live alongside each other. The thing is, they are ALWAYS found together. So, are they really two different species or just one with two very different sizes?
Tumblr media
Since we have no direct evidence, we need to pull information from other places. The best way to do that is to look at their closest living relatives: the nautilus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is a size difference between male and female nautiluses with males being slightly larger and wider. Now, I am not an invertebrate paleontologist and I don't know how they came to this conclusion so if anyone has any info, let me know, but it is agreed on that female ammonites are larger than male ammonites to accommodate egg production. Now, all the research I have been able to do says they came to this conclusion because male nautilus were smaller but when looking up nautilus specifically, they are always larger so...biologists and paleontologists need to sit down and really talk I guess. Anyway, AMMONITES! Woot!
Tumblr media
Want more? I'm going LIVE on my youtube channel to talk more about sexual dimorphism at 5pm MST. Hope to see you all there!

A pachycephalosaurus skull pin that I sculpted
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fun fact: did you know that because of the amount of iron that is in the dirt where fossils are, fossils are actually a rusty brown color! Another fun fact: some paleontologists believe that the Stygimoloch might be a juvenile of the Pachycephalosaurus Wyomingensis. There are some theories that the other pachycephalosaurid, the Dracorex hogwartsia (which means "dragon king of Hogwarts") might be a female specimen of the P. Wyomingensis, but that's just speculation.

I saw that your request is open again 🥰🥰
May I request luffy with a female magical s/o that are just playing together with her magic and the others just adore it but in a fight against a strong opponent they combine their plays into a powerful attack that sends their enemy flying in one go?
Maybe afterwards high five with a bright smile? The others being shocked?
Thank you in advance
oooh i love this, this is different! I got you, enjoy. I couldn’t think of a cool name for their attack so I left that part up to those who are reading it

‘So cool!’
‘Do it again!’
‘Can you summon cotton candy?!’
‘Can you make hot babes in bikinis?’ The woman laughed at her comrades and their requests, while she showed them her powers for the first time. She was scared that they would judge her at first, so she kept them hidden. But, that was before she got to know them and her boyfriend, the captain of this pirate crew. ‘Stop asking her to dumb things, she used magic doesn’t mean she’s a magician’ The swordsman said, causing a fight to break out.
‘Moss head!’
‘Stupid Zoro!’
‘Stupid swordsman!’ She chuckled and watched as the group of boys fight each other. ‘Hey Y/N, I’ve never seen those type of powers before. Are they like a devil fruit?’ The orange haired navigator asked, approaching the woman. She shook her head ‘no’ and smiled. ‘I guess I should tell you guys more’ The boys finally stopped fighting and the rest of the straw hats gathered around, ready to hear their friend’s story.
‘I was born on an island, an island where magic is heavily studied and believed in. My ancestor, the original leader of my clan, was the first one to have magic powers. He had met this woman whom he had fell in love with, and she was the first one to know magic. She taught him everything about maintaining his mana and all types of magic, soon he was able use magic. They passed it on from generation to generation, but the world government soon began to hear about it’ She stopped when she heard a loud crackle in the distance, followed by a loud boom.
‘Canons?! Someone’s firing canons’ she announced, alerting her crew. They all began to look around the ship, when the cyborg spotted them. ‘They’re on our right and theirs a marine ship behind. I’ll turn us around with a coop de—or you could just do that’ The cyborg was cut off as their captain and their paleontologist made their way to the ship.
‘No wonder those two love each other, they’re just alike. Alright straw-hats, let’s go back those two up!’ The navigator shouted, the rest of the crew getting ready for battle. On the opposite side of the sea, the two were getting rid of the pirates that fired at their ship. ‘What the hell are you?’ One of the male pirates screamed in fear as the woman picked him up with her magic. ‘Your worst nightmare’ And with that she tossed them into the ocean.
‘Take down the straw hat pirates! We’ll take the captain and the witch, we’re gonna collect their bounties!’ A man stood above on the very top deck, riling up the crew. ‘That must be the captain, you want him all for yourself?’ She asked, even though she knew the answer. He smirked and used his devil fruit to stretch his arms to the top, but he made sure to give his woman a kiss on the cheek.
‘Was that your little boyfriend? Maybe we should kill him in front of you’ One of the pirates said, with two others laughing behind him. Her eyebrows rose and body temperature increased. ‘What did you just say?’ Her eyes were now blank, she was pissed. ‘You heard—‘ He was cut off as her magic made him explode into pieces, putting fear in them. Just as she was about to approach them, a loud crashing noise grabbed her attention, along with the figure of her boyfriend. ‘Luffy!’
Running over to him, she helped him to his feet, but he could barely stand. ‘He has a water devil fruit, no fair’ This wasn’t good, a devil fruit user wouldn’t be able to fight against someone with water. That’s when an idea popped into her head, she whispered in his ear and he perked up. ‘Alright, let’s go kick his ass and sink this ship!’ Luffy yelled, warning that infamous smirk once again.
As they raced towards the top of the ship, the rest of straw-hats were helping clear out the obstacles. The captain of the ship cackled as he watched the straw-hat make his way back up to him, ‘Aren’t you hardheaded one? I’ll just make sure you drown this time’
‘Not on my watch! Ready Lu?’ He nodded in response, the both of them using armament hardening on their fists. Y/N quickly enhanced their attack with her magic; temporarily nullifying his weakness to water. Hopping in the air, they both eyed their opponent, a smirk plastered on both of their faces. ‘Rubber-Rubber, ____ punch!’ They yelled in unison, punching the captain through the floors of his ship, down to the oceans floor.
‘No way?!’
‘That was awesome!’
‘Leave it to those two, always making a battle seem so cool’ The straw hats commented, as they watched the two finally land back on their ship. ‘That was so cool! Let’s do it again’ He smiled brightly, giving her high five, earning a chuckle from her.
‘Yeah, let’s do it again’

mystery, my darling, my beloved, reliable sonic news sharer (though i would also consider you friend, should you allow me), you are making me want to become a palaeontologist. and, y'know what? not complaining. dinos have been a lifelong special interest of mine (i have a touch of the mighty 'tism) and being able to study their bones? study dinosaur fossils?? hoo-whee! now that's tempting. (i'm currently on a creative media & production course in college. due to the whole 'wanting to be a photographer because i happen to be surprisingly good at photography' thing. may or may not change courses next year, if they have a course for palaeontology. which i'm praying they do..)
Oh, I’m sorry honey. I don’t study dinosaurs. I study humans. But dinosaurs are very, very cool. My favorite is the Parasaurolophus, they’ve got a cool cranial structure.
I wish that I knew some paleontologists that you could talk to. Because, from my understanding, it’s got a large female demographic (compared to others within that field, like vertebrae and invertebrate zoologists).
My advice to you is to reach out to the department head of your college and ask to get in touch with that department. See if you can combine both of your interests into one. I’m all about you doing things that make you happy. I wish you best of luck, my dear.

A 30,000-Year-Old Baby Woolly Mammoth Found in Yukon's Klondike Gold Fields
A gold miner found a mummified baby woolly mammoth in the Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin Traditional Territory in Yukon, Canada.
According to a press release from the local government, the female baby mammoth has been named Nun cho ga by the First Nation Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in elders, which translates to "big baby animal" in the Hän language.
Nun cho ga is the most complete mummified mammoth discovered in North America.
Nun cho ga died and was frozen in permafrost during the ice age, over 30,000 years old, said the press release. She would have roamed the Yukon alongside wild horses, cave lions, and giant steppe bison.
The frozen mammoth was recovered by geologists after a young miner in the Klondike gold fields found the remains while digging up muck.
Dr. Grant Zazula, the Yukon government's paleontologist, said the miner had made the "most important discovery in paleontology in North America,"reported The Weather Channel.
The baby mammoth was probably with her mother when it but ventured off a little too far and got stuck in the mud, Zazula told The Weather Channel.
Professor Dan Shugar, from the University of Calgary, part of the team who excavated the woolly mammoth, said that this discovery was the "most exciting scientific thing I have ever been part of."
He described how immaculately the mammoth had been preserved, saying that it still had intact toenails, hide, hair, trunk, and even intestines, with its last meal of grass still present.
According to the press release, Yukon is renowned for its store of ice age fossils, but rarely are such immaculate and well-preserved finds discovered. Zazula wrote in the press release that "As an ice age paleontologist, it has been one of my lifelong dreams to come face to face with a real woolly mammoth.
"That dream came true today. Nun cho ga is beautiful and one of the most incredible mummified ice age animals ever discovered in the world."
The woolly mammoth, about the size of the African elephant, roamed the earth until about 4,000 years ago. Early humans, hunted them for food and used mammoth bones and tusks for art, tools, and dwellings. Scientists are divided as to whether hunting or climate change drove them into extniction.

AITA for taking my colleague on a work trip to a dangerous island?
I (30s M) work as a paleontologist. I do a lot of archeological digs, in particular with my colleague E (24F). In the past I’ve worked with a bioengineering company and have some contact with its founder J (60s-70s? M).
So I’m doing this dig in Montana and a couple of things happen really quickly. I get a visit from this guy who asks some questions about J and his company (mostly him telling me things that J and his company have been doing and then asking “why are they doing that?”). I answer those questions (mostly with “I don’t know, ask them”) and he leaves. Then E gets a call from some science lab in Costa Rica. Apparently there were some animal attacks there and the scientists want us to take a look at the remains of one of these animals. Right after this, J calls and says he wants E and I to visit this “biological preserve” his company has established on an island near Costa Rica. He also offered me enough money to fund several years’ worth of digs, so I agree, and E and I leave for this island.
When we get there it’s very apparent that there’s dinosaurs there. Living dinosaurs. Actual living dinosaurs. The island is designed as a theme park, but with live dinosaurs. I’ll spare you the exact details of how they managed to bring back dinosaurs, but long story short: they used ancient dinosaur DNA from blood inside insects that were preserved in amber, and any gaps in the genetic code were filled with DNA from reptiles, birds, or amphibians. The dinosaurs are also apparently bioengineered to be female so they can’t breed.
Anyway, J is like “okay so you and E need to tour the park and say it’s good so the investors aren’t scared.” J has also brought a mathematician and a lawyer for the investors. Both of them think the park is a stupid idea and that it will fail miserably. (They basically said that but nicer and in more words.) The park’s staff include the engineer, a PR manager, a game warden, a veterinarian, and some sort of scientist guy. J has apparently also invited HIS FUCKING GRANDCHILDREN because their parents are divorcing and I guess hanging out at a fucking dinosaur amusement park will maybe make them feel better. The grandchildren are T (idk like 10 or something?, M) and L (eight-ish, F).
So everyone (minus the staff) is doing the tour, and I end up finding an eggshell. Which in any other context isn’t a big deal, but because we’re on Dinosaur Island where all the dinos are incubated in a lab, this means that they’re breeding.
Then the power goes out, and all the systems are down, which means the dinosaurs can just roam around the island unchecked. We become aware of this fact when we are attacked by a T. rex. I’m mostly okay, and I end up finding T & L, and escaping with them into the jungle.
The kids and I make it back to the control building by rafting down a river, we’re almost killed by dinosaurs a couple times, the details aren’t important. Point is, we make it back, I turn the main generators on, and T reactivates the park’s systems. At some point the velociraptors got out of their enclosure and killed the engineer and the scientist guy. I meet up with E, she’s mostly fine, no major injuries or anything like that.
I end up figuring out that the frog DNA made some dinosaurs able to change from female to male in certain environments. This island was one of those certain environments and that’s how we got the dinos breeding. The computer system that tallied up the animals was designed to make sure no animals had disappeared or died, so only counted the number of animals they were supposed to have on the island, failing to include organically conceived dinosaurs.
E, the game warden, the lawyer, and I find the wild raptor nests and we come to the conclusion that the velociraptors are trying to migrate off the island. Before we can really do anything about this, we’re evacuated from the island by the Costa Rican Air Force. I think they ended up doing something to kill off the dinosaurs or destroy the island but I’m not sure. Afterwards we’re staying at a hotel because there’s some sort of international something going on and we can’t return to the US yet. Some American doctor who’s working in Costa Rica visits me and says “hey so there’s this pack of animals that are migrating through the jungle, just fyi.” I go “huh okay I don’t want to unpack that right now though. goodbye.”
E and I return to the US sometime later and resume the archeological dig like nothing happened. I should have just said no, I recognize that now. I at least shouldn’t have brought E with me. From what I can tell she almost got attacked by velociraptors. I know she wanted to go, but I did say yes on her behalf. I didn’t know that the island had actual fucking dinosaurs on it, but still, I feel bad that she had to go through all that. Idk. So, AITA for taking my coworker on a work trip with me to an island that turned out to have literal dinosaurs on it?

It All Started At Jurassic Park - Ian Malcolm X Female Reader
Tumblr media
Title: It All Started At Jurassic Park
Ian Malcolm X Female Reader
Additional Characters: John Hammond, Dr. Henry Wu, Alan, and Ellie
| Part 2 | Part 3 |
WC: 1,436
Warnings: N/A
Checking her clipboard, the scientist took notes on the unhatched eggs, analyzing them as the robot arm gently picked them up and turned them, keeping them warm. Jotting down a few notes, the female scientist made her way to her co-worker, passing off her notes and heading to her desk. Sitting down at her computer, she made sure to add anything to her notes digitally, and made sure to fill out her paperwork for the day before her lunch break.
Y/N L/N worked for John Hammond, as a paleontologist in his growing theme park, Jurassic Park. Somehow the man had brought dinosaurs back to life, and when he came to her, offering her a job as a baby dinosaur caretaker, she couldn’t say no.
Y/N had been working for John for a very long time. She had been one of the first few people who joined and began working at Jurassic Park. It was an amazing new start for Y/N and her boring life. She never thought, in her wildest dreams, that she would ever get the chance to see a dinosaur in real life, that wasn’t just bones. She felt very fortunate for being chosen to do this job. She was three years out of college, studying and majoring in Paleontology, Marine Biology, and Earth Science. For all of University and College, she had been working as a part-time barista, and she never thought she would be able to get out of it.
Now, after about two years, Y/N had been rising up in the ranks of life. She had basically her dream job, amazing income, and free health insurance. She even had a small cottage on the island, not really leaving often anyway. She was in constant need at the lab, making sure the dino eggs were staying warm and healthy while also taking care of the baby dinosaurs as they grew. It had to be the best thing she had ever done. For hours she got to sit with the baby dinosaurs, taking care of them and making sure they were healthy. Even though John always made sure that the baby dinos imprinted on him first, Y/N felt that she too had a strong connection with them as well. Readjusting her glasses, she finished her online work for the day, making sure to close everything up before leaving the lab for lunch.

“Come on in.” John Hammond spoke softly, taking off his hat and handing it to one of the technicians.
“Good morning, Henry.” John greeted the scientist, who was taking notes.
“Oh, good day, sir,” Henry spoke, noticing the man.
Grant looked around the room, his eyes catching the eggs, watching as one of the eggs made a strong move, the robotic arm steadying it.
“My God, look!” He exclaimed as John, Henry, Ellie, and Ian joined him.
“Ah, perfect timing. I was hoping they would hatch before I had to go on the boat.” Henry mentioned, writing a few things on his clipboard of notes.
Looking up and around quickly, John looked back to the hatching egg.
“Where’s Dr. L/N? She needs to be here for this.” John asked as Henry looked up from his clipboard and looked around the room as well.
“I think she went to lunch, sir,” Henry answered, going back to his clipboard.
“Have someone notify her of the hatching, please,” John asked, grabbing a pair of plastic gloves and slipping them on.
“Right away, sir,” Henry spoke before grabbing his walkie-talkie.
The egg begins to crack, the robotic arm moves away, a baby dinosaur tries to break its way out, just its head sticking out of the shell. John reaches down carefully, breaking the shell away, helping the baby dinosaur out.
“Come on then, out you come.” John cooed to the small dinosaur.
“They imprint on the first living creature they come in contact with. That helps them to trust me. I’ve been present for the birth of every animal on the island. Just look at that.” John spoke, as he carefully petted the baby dino’s head.
“Surely not the ones that have bred in the wild?”
“Actually, they can’t breed in the wild. We have a huge thing for population control. There is no unauthorized breeding.” A voice quickly answered, gaining John and his company’s attention.
“Took the words right out of my mouth, Y/N.” Henry chuckled, before heading to his desk to file the baby dino’s birth report.
John stood up, quickly tossing his gloves in the trash, before turning to the scientist.
“Y/N, how wonderful of you to join us. The first egg just hatched.” John spoke and Y/N’s eyes widened, quickly heading over and checking on the baby.
“Darn, my calculations must have been off. I thought I still had a couple of days.” She spoke, pushing up the edge of her glasses, before grabbing a pair of her own gloves.
Helping out with the shell, she gently took the baby dino in her hands, observing and making sure the baby was doing alright, and all seemed fine.
“How do you know that they can’t breed?” Ian asked, more intrigued by the scientist than the answer to his question.
“They are all females, we’ve engineered them that way.” Gently turning the dinosaur in her hands, Y/N tilted her head to the side.
“Body temperature feels like somewhere around eighty-eight or eighty-nine degrees,” Y/N mumbled.
“Henry?” John asked, gaining the other scientist’s attention.
“Ninety-one.” He answered.
Y/N nodded and gave a small smile.
“Close enough. Doesn’t seem to be any issues in breathing or anything. She’s as healthy as can be.” She spoke as Ian looked at John skeptically.
“But again, how do you know they’re all female? Does someone go into the park and, uh… Lift up the dinosaurs’ skirts?”
“We control their chromosomes. It’s not that difficult. All vertebrate embryos are inherently female anyway. It takes an extra hormone at the right developmental stage to create a male, and we simply deny them that.” Henry explained as Ian stood there, shocked.
“Your silence intrigues me,” John spoke.
“John, the kind of control you’re attempting is not possible. If there’s one thing the history of evolution has taught us, it’s that life will not be contained. Life breaks free. It expands to new territories. It crashes through barriers. Painfully, maybe even… Dangerously, but… Well, there it is.”
“There it is.” John agreed as Henry looked at Ian.
“You’re implying that a group composed entirely of females will… breed?” He spoke, looking at the man with furrowed eyebrows.
“No, I’m simply saying that life… uh, finds a way.” Ian tried to explain.
“That is true… Mr… Uh…” Y/N gestured with a hand for the seeming rockstar's name.
“Ian, Ian Malcolm.” He introduced himself, giving the woman a smile, in which she blushed.
Y/N nodded and continued, "It’s true, Mr. Malcolm, but, here, we sort of change how life sort of works. I guess it’s hard to explain.” She laughed awkwardly, before looking towards Alan, who was looking intensely at the baby dino.
“Do you want to hold her?” Y/N asked the man, who abruptly looked up and gave a nod.
“Yes, thank you.”
“Just put on some gloves over there.” She spoke, as Alan quickly pulled on some gloves.
Y/N gently handed the baby dino over to the man, who had taken a deep breath in return. He had a certain suspicion of what it was.
“What species is this?” He asked, gently holding the baby in both hands.
“It’s a velociraptor,” Y/N spoke, taking her gloves off and throwing them in the nearby trash can.
“You bred raptors?” He asked, and the scientist nodded slowly, looking at the man in slight confusion.
Alan looked down at the baby raptor the small dinosaur in his hand that would one day grow up to be an incredible killer. Y/N checked over any of the other unhatched dino eggs, making sure none of them were hatching. Sighing, she pushed up her glasses again before looking back at John and his group.
“It was nice to meet you all, but I have to get to the baby sector. I’ll hopefully see you all later.” She spoke before heading to the door, before leaving she turned to Henry.
“Dr. Wu, could you please notify me when the next babies hatch?” She asked the other doctor, who nodded and gave the woman a smile.
“Thank you.”
Turning to Ian, Y/N smiled at the man. "And, I'll hopefully be seeing you, Ian?" She asked and Ian smirked, looking the scientist up and down.
"Uh, yes... Hopefully so." He spoke and Y/N nodded before clearing her throat and rushing off and out of the lab.
Ian watched after her, his smile never leaving his face. Ellie nudged the man and smiled up at him.
"I think she likes you." She spoke and Ian nodded, continuing to stare at the door you left through.
"Yeah, I think she does."
Ellie chuckled, crossing her arms. "And I think you like her."
Ian nodded once more, pushing up his glasses, his cheeks feeling warm. "Yeah, I think I do."

whats your favourite dinosaur and why??
The one that looks like this:
Tumblr media
Basically because he's a silly guy. He's a hadrosaur and the first dinosaur I got excited about when I learned about them as a kid. Also because he was the first dinosaur I ever got to see in person, and the first one that I ever actually saw off-screen -- the late Paul Sereno went on a lecture tour when I was in grade school and showed us a video of one of his paleontologists discovering a field of fossils in Niger, including this guy.
The video opened with a female paleontologist discovering the skull of this guy's head, in which you could see some of the individual bones. I remember I was at home with a babysitter and I ran upstairs to my mom to tell her about it, because I had never seen such a complete skull fossil before. (That is also when I came to appreciate the centrality of the skull to a human being's personality. The only time I cried in childhood was when we had to put our dog down, but I didn't start crying until I saw the animal's skull).
Anyway, like, officially official name for this guy is Iguanodon bernissartensis, named for the Bernissart cave in Belgium where these specimens were found.

Like I said in a previous Tiny Toon post, I loved that the writers still kept Fifi La Fume in the show when WB said they no longer plan on using Pepe for anything, which I don't mind as I always found his character boring.
Since it seems no one complained about her being in the show (even when she got bigger roles in the last 2 episodes of the first season) I hope this means that in the next season the writers will do more with her, maybe even make her a main character since the show could use some more. Let's just hope by then they get her a VA with an actual French accent as they kind of dropped the ball on that from time to time.
To do that I got some ideas for her character that would not only be interesting but could also help distance her from Pepe.
One idea is having her join Babs and Sweetie as friends or as a new roommate, since it's odd that Buster gets to keep his 2 male friends in a dorm room with 3 people while Babs is demoted to having only one female friend. I can picture Fifi being the "girlier" counterbalance to Sweetie's punk, tomboy personality. It would also be interesting to see Fifi and Sweetie pick up one another traits for an episode, espeically Fifi as the idea of her being a punk/rebel sounds funny.
Since the reboot showed her liking fashion, I can see Fifi going for a degree in Toon fashion. Maybe it could be revealed that she makes all the outfits that the main cast use in their gags/skits. It also could lead to a gag where she always wears a different outfit per episode and in one episode points out the trope of how it seems like everyone always wears the same outfit.
Another idea is having her be the dating/romance expert with a long history of dating/boyfriends before she decided to take a break to explore and find herself while at college, which is a great reason to explain why she doesn't act like Pepe... most of the time as I could see her fangirling over a guy from time to time. She would be the go to character when someone needs dating advice or how to get over a bad breakup for example.
This could be connected to two ideas, one is that she could be used for a joke that makes fun at shippers or shipping in fiction. Another idea is that she is a "jack of all trades" character, as she has picked up a lot of skills while dating which can be used for laughs and comes in handy when dealing with a problem in an episode, whether it be having her weld metal or bringing up knowledge about fossils cause an exe's dad was a paleontologist.
Do you have your own ideas for what the writers could do with Fifi in the Tiny Toons reboot?

A mischievous god, a reverend and a newly engaged man: Tom Hiddleston has been busy
by Bob Strauss. Photos: Jay L. Clendenin / Los Angeles Times
Tumblr media
It hardly needs saying, but Tom Hiddleston is a much nicer guy than Loki, the supervillain he’s played in six Marvel movies and an acclaimed Disney+ series, which just started shooting its second season in England.
And despite the Norse God of Mischief’s ubiquity, the Cambridge and Royal Academy of Dramatic Art-educated actor does have other interests. His stage résumé is as impressive as the array of auteurs he’s made movies with: Joanna Hogg, Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, Terence Davies, Jim Jarmusch, Guillermo del Toro, Ben Wheatley. There’s also prestige TV such as “The Night Manager” and now “The Essex Serpent,” which launched in May on Apple TV+.
Still, “‘Loki,’ ‘Essex Serpent,’ they have occupied the last two years of my life,” Hiddleston notes on a warm afternoon in an L.A. hotel garden.
Of course, there was more to the last several years than “Essex” and the first season of “Loki.” Hiddleston found time in March to propose to Zawe Ashton, his co-star in a 2019 West End revival of Harold Pinter’s “Betrayal.”
“I’m very happy” is all he wants to say about that, perhaps gun-shy regarding personal matters since a super-scrutinized 2016 romance with Taylor Swift. But just get him started on the latest shows ....
“I love playing Loki, have loved playing him every time,” the actor says about Thor’s shape-and-loyalty-shifting brother. “In every story, there’s been a different iteration, a different director, a different spin on the ball, if you like.”
The “Loki” series takes place in a divergent timeline before/after he was killed in the last two “Avengers” movies. This trickster version is detained by a kind of cosmic bureaucracy, the Time Variance Authority, and stripped of his powers if not his arrogance.
“If you take away everything that the character knows and understands, what remains?” Hiddleston submits. “Something will be revealed to us and to Loki about who he is. This idea of him undergoing an almost psychoanalytical interrogation with the TVA’s Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, and being confronted with repetitive patterns of destructive behavior, which only resulted in his loss and loneliness, I found to be extremely exciting.”
Another first, for Marvel and Loki: He came out as bisexual to the series’ other key frenemy, Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, a female variant of himself.
“In my research into the character and the ancient stories, Loki’s identity has always been fluid in his gender and sexuality,” Hiddleston notes. “It was a privilege to touch on it this time. I’m aware it’s a small step and there’s further to go, but I hope that people felt represented by it.”
Contemporary concerns are also represented in Sarah Perry’s bestselling historical novel “The Essex Serpent.” It’s set in a scientifically advancing 1893, while superstitions still haunt the Blackwater Estuary on England’s eastern coast. People go missing, a big underwater thing is bumping into fishermen’s boats, and some believe a folklore dragon has returned.
Claire Danes plays Cora Seaborne, recently widowed from an abusive marriage and an amateur paleontologist, who comes up from London to investigate. An attraction grows between her and the local, married vicar, Hiddleston’s Will Ransome. All six episodes were directed by another of the actor’s admired auteurs, Clio Barnard (“The Arbor,” “Dark River”).
“I loved this combination of her and the story,” Hiddleston says. “It deals with some very resonant themes: uncertainty, fear and how fear of what we don’t understand can sometimes collectively distort reality. There’s an ideological debate between science and religion that’s staged in the dynamic between Cora and my character, the very progressive but nevertheless faithful reverend of the community.
Tumblr media
“In my research into the character and the ancient stories, Loki’s identity has always been fluid in his gender and sexuality,” Hiddleston notes. “It was a privilege to touch on it this time. I’m aware it’s a small step and there’s further to go, but I hope that people felt represented by it.”
“It felt like with the pandemic, we all had to manage so much uncertainty,” he continues. “It’s about that, but of course there’s a very psychological metaphor about the serpent, things that lie beneath the surface.”
Hiddleston tried to be a gracious host to his American co-star when they filmed in the Essex salt marshes 13 months ago but fears he might have gone too far.
“It’s windy and it’s muddy and it’s wet,” he says of the shoot. “Claire was incredibly game about all of that. I became a kind of cliché Englishman, endlessly promising that the weather would improve. Every day I’d be like, ‘It’s going to get better, Claire! Just you wait, the spring in England is lovely!’”
Cliché, or in actuality a particularly nice chap?
“I was very lucky when I was younger,” Hiddleston reckons, regarding his reputation. “I worked with some great actors, and I could see that they were very committed to the work and very kind, inspiring in that way. I was junior to Kenneth Branagh and Judi Dench and Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ewan McGregor; these are the best of guys doing it.
“I try to put my best foot forward,” he concludes, then adds with a sheepish grin, “It’s hard to address that.”

Kit lived on a loving home in Tlaquepaque, México with her parents, Sergio Cortes Lozano and Yazmin Alvarado Torres, and her newborn baby brother, Manuel (Manu) Cortes Alvarado.
At such young age of 4 years, she was already hyperenergetic and started climbing the couches, this was an early signal of such climber she would later become.
In 2011 when she was 7, there was a high level earthquake that destroyed her home. She was in school when it happened. When she arrived, she found her mother dying under a rumble, holding Manu up to her before dying.
Tumblr media
She and Manu got adopted by Horacio Rivera Flores, a paleontologist who was the friend of their father.
To comfort them, Horacio took them to the museum where he worked, showing them the fossil of a concavenator and explaining them about the species and the diverse dinosaurs. Kit couldn't help but feel connected to these animals.
In 2018 when she was 14, her, Horacio and Manu moved to San Francisco in search of new animals to discover. She was already working with Horacio on his job. While doing an investigation on the inside of a ferry about the behavior of Basilosaurus. There, she got to see giant-man (she was on the ferry from amatw)
A day after that encounter, she became focused on finding out about this being and who it was. She discovered it was just ant-man, and in search of answers, she tried to give with his location and ask him herself.
In the following weeks, Horacio seemed sick. He was getting worse, and he was already way too weak on his bed. Horacio got blipped, while Kit and Manu survived.
She and Manu returned to México, grieving Horacio's and other loved ones deaths.
In 2020 at the age of 16, after living alone with her brother, she was arriving on an excavation, when she found an ancient artifact, a mayan obsidian dagger. It caught something in her so she didn't report it and sneaked it on her bag.
Tumblr media
When she arrived home, she got curious of the dagger, as it had some kind of button. When she pressed it, she unexpectedly summoned a concavenator with it. After realizing it would follow her commands and configurating the button, she realized the dagger could somehow summon extinct creatures at her will.
She named the concavenator "Corve" and discovered other creatures that would aid her later.
One day, she discovered her brother got assaulted by a thief, so she took a choice. She got an old celest blue mayan suit from an event, made a plume mask, and with a homemade spear and her dagger, started to fight local crime, with the intentions to protect people, but overall, her brother.
She also met Ruben on this period of time, who was also a newly turned superhero due to a replication he worked on since he wanted to be just like the original spider-man.
Tumblr media
In the following years she became more agile than ever. Her climbing became more and more expert, already climbing trees and even buildings.
In 2023 at the age of 19, when the blip was undone, Kit realized by the news, where the avengers communicated their journey to restore half of the universe. She remembered Horacio, and that he was so sick before being blipped.
She and Manu rushed to San Francisco again, but when they arrived at the department, it was too late. A worker informed them that after he unblipped, Horacio died by his disease.
Full with grief, Kit and Manu were devastated, but she noticed something. In the news, there was ant-man again, and now she knew how to find him.
Kit found Scott, and after meeting him, they became great friends.
Tumblr media
Then time later, she would get lost on a forest. There, she finds a sorcerer named "white shaman" who offered her to let her know her spirit animal and help her find her way out of the forest.
The next day, with his guidance, she learned to turn into a quetzal bird. When she mastered it he suddenly dissapeared and was never seen again. She also adquired wind abilities.
Tumblr media
One year after their friendship, now that she was 20, on another work travel, this time on Queens, she met spider-man, and befriended him as well.
Tumblr media
She kept making friends and friends, finding comfort in their presence, a little breath after the storm of unfortunate events on her life.
However, shortly after that, tragedy struck again. Her brother, who was just walking to school, when a villain, known as "Black Shaman" had gotten information of Kit, attacked. Kit appeared and fought him, but he knocked her unconscious and then derribated a column agaisnt Manu.
When she woke in a hospital and found out about her brother, she became silent and her self-esteem got lower than usual. However, nowadays she's still fighting for good, and having fun with her friends.

National Fossil Day
Fossils aren’t just interesting and fun to look at — they’re also proof of the existence of once-living things (like dinosaurs, animals, plants and even DNA remnants). Through these fossils we’re able to learn a lot about life from billions of years ago. We can even take a look at animals and life-forms that are no longer on the planet! These fossils (and the education around them) deserve to be preserved and explored. That’s why we celebrate National Fossil Day annually on the Wednesday of the second full week in October, with this year’s celebration being held on October 12. Show some appreciation for these incredible “time capsules” and the paleontologists who excavate them.
National Fossil Day timeline
1840s - 1850s Researchers discovered the Neanderthal
Ancient human fossils were unearthed for the first time, proving the existence of the Neanderthal.
1902 Proof of T-Rex
Researchers uncovered the first Tyrannosaurus Rex remains.
1974 Lucy was born
Scientists found fossils of a 3.5 million-year-old female hominin (an extinct human species) and named her “Lucy.”
How to Observe National Fossil Day
Hug a paleontologist
Check out local events
Visit Your Nearest National Park
Paleontologists are pretty incredible people. They go through lots of schooling and training to be able to study the fossils of all kinds of organisms. It’s because of them that we know a lot about the last few billion years of our planet’s history. Show your appreciation by giving them a hug, and asking them to tell you more!
Every year, the National Park Service partners with various organizations, universities, museums and more to celebrate National Fossil Day. Through field trips, classroom instruction and outdoor activities, they’re spreading awareness about this important holiday.
Many national parks are passionate about introducing future generations to the science behind fossils and paleontology. These may include anything from scavenger hunts, to multi-day ranger-led activities. Visit your nearest national park and discover all there is to know about this fascinating science!
4 Fun Fossil Facts
They’re insanely valuable
They can be enormous
Anything can be fossilized
They’re ridiculously old
The highest amount ever paid for a dinosaur fossil was $8.3 million (they named it “Sue”).
The largest intact fossil ever discovered was a whopping 4 square miles!
The smallest fossil on record was just 2/10 of a millimeter (it was of a 50-million-year-old parasite).
Next time you're feeling old, just remember some fossils date back to 4.1 billion years.
Why National Fossil Day is Important
We can learn about our planet
We can understand the progression of time
We can look toward the future
A fossil is evidence of past life that’s been preserved in rock. This helps us discover all kinds of shells, plants, animals, and more that existed long before our time. This information helps us understand what was happening during each part of our planet’s history.
By looking at fossils, researchers have been able to understand how and when organisms appeared and disappeared throughout the passage of time. This is how they’ve been able to divide up the events in our planet’s history into different periods.
Each fossil tells a story of the organism it encapsulates, and the details of when it was on the earth. By examining fossils, we can use these stories to help inform us about the future, and how environmental factors (as well as man-made ones) will help influence our planet for future generations.
