Kids don’t know how to wish softly but you did. Then underneath the yellow slide you taught me how. Over and over again, I wished to have wings to fly, to migrate futures where we evolved together but separate. It’s been 20 years since I’ve seen the breeze sculpt your face. I can look at you, in the present, and see the grey hair inching from the left side of your hair like a leaf happy it’s Spring time. What would my days be like if I got to see the birth of that grey hair? What would we be if those 20 years had stayed with us? A woman I know - most are passerbys, I admit, because of you - saw your picture and asked: “Do you even know who she is anymore?”

I stopped. And without wishing away her answer, I replied, “She’s my broken language. Though I may leave home and lose my native echo, somewhere within me it’s there even if broken, not how it once was. It’s there the second I speak. That’s what she is for me.”

They say a wish is never forgotten, only grows. I wished many things the day you left…But the one I know as true, no matter who holds your hand, is: We’ll always be our yesterdays and tomorrows. We are, infinitely linked, throughout our past lives.

My AO3 Fics:

Poster Girl: This is a House Of The Dragon fic set primarily in the late 90s, and it follows a teenage Rhaenyra Targaryen after her best friend Alicent Hightower disappears - and then, an adult Rhaenyra when Alicent’s daughter comes to town. This fic is told primarily in Rhaenyra’s third person POV, though there is an occasional first person interjection from Helaena. The ships are Harwin/Rhaenyra, Criston/Rhaenyra, Rhaenyra/Laena, and Mysaria/Daemon.

Black Hole Sun, Won’t You Come?: This is a Yellowjackets fic with the same 1996/2021 structure as the show. It’s a role reversal that imagines what would have happened if Jackie, Laura, Mari, Akilah and Javi had lived instead of the canon survivors. It alternates between third person POVs of the five, and the ships are Laura/Lottie, Jeff/Jackie, Mari/OMC, and Laura/OMC.

The Roys At The White Lotus: This is a crossover fic between Succession and The White Lotus. It follows the Roys, a couple of months after the finale, deciding to go to The White Lotus in Hawai’i for spring break, just as - you guessed it - the Mossbachers and Pattons and Tanya do. This fic is told entirely through third person, with the perspectives alternating between the major characters multiple times a chapter. The ships are Tanya/Roman, Armond/Dillon, Rachel/Shane, Shiv/Tom, and Willa/Connor.

How do I break you before you break me?: This is a House of the Dragon two-parter fic that essentially asks the question, what if Alicent Hightower finally snapped? And when she does and it has unfortunate consequences, what happens when she and Aemma watch the aftermath from the afterlife? This fic is told through Alicent’s third person perspective, and the ships are Alicent/Viserys and Daemon/Rhaenyra.

I Love You To The Moon And Back: This is a House Of The Dragon fanfic that begins when Rhaenyra narrowly interrupts what would be Helaena’s suicide. After Helaena finally gets to rant, the course of the war is forever changed. This fic is told through Helaena’s first person perspective.
