One manifestation of anti-transmasculinity I see again and again, primarily in discussions about the existence/denial of anti-transmasculinity is the treatment of transmascs in the same way cis men treat feminists as hysterical women and rad/feminists treat men as ignorant beasts. Of course these really just echo each other in that the other is deemed lesser but it's really in the wording.

You do not, can not ever understand misogyny, you are just ignorant sluts vieing for attention, what happened to you wasn't that bad, you're exaggerating, it was just a joke, it doesn't matter, you deserved it, you're being dramatic, who cares, who cares, who cares. Just shut up already.

i think queer identity makes people boring and not the other way around. i come across so many women who are insightful and smart and funny who identify as some flavor of nonbinary or queer and its like once they remember "oh yeah i identify as those things" in the middle of a conversation it comes across as insincere and random and dull to whatever we were previously talking about. like when they're being themselves they're complex individuals, but once they remember they have to push an identify complex on themselves and have to make sure you know they don't feel like a woman 100% of the time or something all their personality suddenly tanks as they try to artificially craft themselves to you.

I have no real desire to get involved in ship wars (And really, this isn't about shipping), nor do I want to argue over what I would/wouldn't like to be canon. I stick to enjoying what I enjoy with fellow freaks on the internet and leave everyone else to it...

But I must admit, it's slightly disappointing to read some of the takes disguised as feminist when in reality, they are arguably quite harmful and seemingly rooted in misogyny which are being shared around.

Women being in love does not "cheapen" their stories.

Women can be powerful characters and still be in love.

A woman being in love does not make her weak or any less powerful.

Women can be fully-fledged, powerful and 'badass' characters and still be in love.

If you think a 'powerful' woman having a romantic relationship makes her weak, it kind of seems like because falling in love and romance are seen as feminine, you actually just think a woman's femininity makes her weak...

I really wish there could be an acceptance that women can be both strong, powerful, intelligent and in love. Women do not have to choose, in life or in fiction. And there is rarely the same attitude when it comes to male characters. I never see anyone say that being in love would make a strong, independent man weak.

Anyway, I personally think that female characters who have been through horrible things deserve a happy ending and it does not weaken them to allow them to have a romantic partner. Being strong is exhausting and having someone there when they need a break after a busy day of being a girlboss is totally understandable, healthy and acceptable.

In conclusion, let powerful women fall in love!!!
