I didn’t know what was after me, but I could feel the wisps of its breath rolling over my neck. Inside my chest, a fear so visceral I could taste it. Feel its texture on my tongue. The floor was a sheet of ice in the face of my terror, trying to trip me at every step. 

Behind you.

“I know!” I shook my head to clear it of this nonsense. Who was I talking to? I was alone.

I dared a glance behind me, barely registering a shape before fear twisted my head back forward. It was infuriating to know better, to be entirely too aware that I was running from shadows, but to find myself scared nonetheless. I despised the kind of fear that rendered me useless. 

When I reached the door, it was shut tight. Its handle, old and rusted by time, was held by the pile of equipment that had led me inside. I had been careless. I had been trapped. I was being made to distrust my own instincts.

Pressure at my back. Cold fingers playing the xylophone on my spine. My vision became unfocused, tears welling with senseless dread. 

You’ve caused me much trouble lately.

I hadn’t. I hadn’t the slightest idea what that meant. Reason was leaving me in waves of shivers as my hands clawed ravenously at the door. 

Warm. Warmer. Burning.

This is the last time you disappoint me.

Who? I hadn’t done anything wrong. I hadn’t. I was innocent.

Hot air sifting through my hair — why did I care? This had nothing to do with me. Had everything to do with me. I didn’t know anymore — Pull on my clothes, choking me. 

You’re not getting out of here.

I was. I had to.

Teylabeth Week goes into its third round!

For everyone who is new to this or unsure what this is about, let me clear things up:

What is Teylabeth Week? Teylabeth week is a week during which we celebrate the ship of Teyla Emmagan/Elizabeth Weir more than usual, a week where we show our love and appreciation of this ship.

When is Teylabeth Week? Teylabeth Week 2024 will take place between June 3.-9.

How can I participate? There are many ways you can participate! By writing fanfic, making fanart, writing meta, editing, collaging, cosplaying, giffing, whatever seems right to you to celebrate this ship!

I don’t really write/make art/feel comfortable with sharing anything, can I still participate? Of course! This week lives through people who engage with the contributions! Go through the Teylabeth tag, engage with posts and fanart, comment on fics, the sort of things that keep fandoms alive!

Are there rules to the contributions? No rules! Everything is allowed! But please make sure that your contributions are tagged accordingly (ratings on ao3 as well as content warnings) so people can filter them out! Also, since this is Teylabeth week, the contributions should center around Teylabeth <3

Is there going to be a fic exchange? No, there isn’t.

Natasha is a good judge of character.

You don’t survive and make it out of a place like the Red Room without sharpening your abilities to assess others and their intentions. Which, she has learned in the worst possible way, are often harmful.

Men, twice her size, trying to take advantage of the fact that she’s a woman; exerting their power over her like she is nothing but a toy that can be played with and then left broken and forgotten behind. Girls, just like her, trying to trick her into failing and meeting her demise, so they can come out on top as she becomes a part of the dirt they walk on.  Some of them, Natasha tries to assuage Natalia’s murderous thoughts, were just doing what they had to – were just trying to survive; but none of that matters when it’s either you or them.

None of it matters when the only place you can call a home is the one place that takes all your biggest fears and beats you hollow with them, over and over again until you condition yourself not to fear it anymore — not to feel at all.

The good thing about it is that Natasha knows how to be around bad people. She knows how to play and manipulate them to guarantee she always gets her way, and that she always gets her out. A lot of harm, very little foul. That’s what she knows.

Or that is what she used to know, until she met the Avengers.

Reflections on Luna's Intro Chapters

Luna has to be my fav HP girl. I couldn't care less if the other HP girls died (especially Ginny and Hermione) but I just find Luna so adorable and entertaining. Just some book 5 snippets I find interesting.

“What are you talking about?” said Ginny, who had squeezed past Neville to peer into the compartment behind him. “There’s room in this one, there’s only Loony Lovegood in here —”

I can't believe there are people so desperate for HP femlash that they pair poor Luna with a bitch like Ginny. I can see where the appeal comes from but no, just no. Why are the female friendships in HP so shallow and nondescript??

She closed the door again, rather pink in the face, and departed. Harry slumped back in his seat and groaned. He would have liked Cho to discover him sitting with a group of very cool people laughing their heads off at a joke he had just told; he would not have chosen to be sitting with Neville and Loony Lovegood, clutching a toad and dripping in Stinksap.

Neville deserves better friends. Neville is so Harry's pity friend. I will never forgive Horrid Harry comparing sweet Neville to Peter Pettigrew.

“She didn’t enjoy it very much,” Luna informed him. “She doesn’t think you treated her very well, because you wouldn’t dance with her. I don’t think I’d have minded,” she added thoughtfully, “I don’t like dancing very much.”

I don't ship Runa but Luna and Ron are so cute together. I wouldn't have minded this ship over Romione. At least Luna would not be prone to physically assaulting Ron and underestimating his talents. But I prefer Runa as a sibling relationship.

“Anything good in there?” asked Ron as Harry closed the magazine. “Of course not,” said Hermione scathingly, before Harry could answer, “The Quibbler’s rubbish, everyone knows that.” “Excuse me,” said Luna; her voice had suddenly lost its dreamy quality. “My father’s the editor.” “I — oh,” said Hermione, looking embarrassed. “Well . . . it’s got some interesting . . . I mean, it’s quite . . .” “I’ll have it back, thank you,” said Luna coldly, and leaning forward she snatched it out of Harry’s hands. Rifling through it to page fifty-seven, she turned it resolutely upside down again and disappeared behind it, just as the compartment door opened for the third time.

I love how Hermione is the only person Luna is cold towards. That's my girl!

“Yeah,” said Harry, “but you, unlike me, are a git, so get out and leave us alone.” Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville laughed. Malfoy’s lip curled.

Druna crumbs! Luna is the only person who did not laugh. Maybe because she is the only one with good enough humor to recognize a lame joke. You can do better than that Harry!

“Did everyone see that Grubbly-Plank woman?” asked Ginny. “What’s she doing back here? Hagrid can’t have left, can he?” “I’ll be quite glad if he has,” said Luna. “He isn’t a very good teacher, is he?” “Yes, he is!” said Harry, Ron, and Ginny angrily. Harry glared at Hermione; she cleared her throat and quickly said, “Erm . . . yes . . . he’s very good.” “Well, we think he’s a bit of a joke in Ravenclaw,” said Luna, unfazed. “You’ve got a rubbish sense of humor then,” Ron snapped, as the wheels below them creaked into motion. Luna did not seem perturbed by Ron’s rudeness; on the contrary, she simply watched him for a while as though he were a mildly interesting television program.

Oh Luna, I love you! Nice to see everyone outside the golden trio + Ginny are not brain dead Hagrid stans. What idiots.

Oh yes, another instance of Harry intimating Hermione to agree with him about Hagrid. It's so amusing how Hermione can lash out against Ron but Harry can subdue her so easily. Karma for how she treats Ron. It's so sweet! Pro Harmione! Gives me 'Taming the Shrew' vibes. People complain about Draco mistreating Hermione in Dramione when Harmione is right there in canon lol! Harry putting girlboss Hermione in her place haha!

Runa is so cute!

Ron, get yourself out of Hagrid's ass. At least Ron shows more common sense about Hagrid than dim wit Harry.
