I am a femme but sometimes I feel like I'm not "femme enough". Idk.. like sometimes, I don't feel like dressing up. And sometimes I don't even know if I "look" femme. I see photos of femme and I don't look anything like them. I'm chubby, I have acne, my hair is a mess and I don't usually wear face makeup. When I do wear makeup, it's usually just lipstick. And when I do dress up, I usually wear dresses or skirts.

I’m not femme myself, but there are plenty of femmes who don’t wear makeup and don’t feel like dressing up all the time. And your body shape or whether or have acne or not does not at all affect “how femme” you are. The femme identity comes from the unique experience of lesbians who subvert femininity in order to resist patriarchy in their own subtle way, and it also comes from femmes’ special relationships with butches. Don’t worry about being “femme enough”, anon. You shouldn’t have to base your own identity off other people’s experiences.
