If better bones were canon there would be so, so much cool art depicting Elderberry and Fury sharing a grave. When I first read that idea my eyes widened like a cartoon.
"There was only one bed" is OUT. "There was only one grave" is IN.
In seriousness though that's actually one of my goals, totally unironically. What is even the point of an AU if it doesn't make you see a cool ass AMV in your head? That's like the entire appeal of Warriors in general. If I'm not FLIPPING MY DOLPHINS at the mental image of cat violence that would make a 13-year-old explode, then I have to go back to the drawing board.

Working on (read: thinking about) an au where Firesand has a second litter of three at the beginning of TNP (squirrel and leaf are a few moons older than they are in canon) and two of those kits are the ones to die in the construction equipment induced famine instead of Ferncloud's. Idk what happens with Ferncloud's litter/if they even exist in this im still working that out

yeah said person I mentioned is just really weird in general. There’s this one character they hate with a passion and they think that said character’s writing is misogynistic when the thing is that said character had a mom with post partum depression and felt neglected. Like yeah the books have issues with misogyny but… that’s not one of them
OH YOURE TALKING ABOUT WARRIOR CATS
ok i understand what you’re talking about now. yeah sparkpelt’s situation is rough and it’s especially rough on her son nightheart. like i completely understand what she went through, her mate died and it was shocking and out of nowhere, and then one of her kits died. of course she felt too depressed to raise her kits. 1 millionth time thanking god for daisy’s existence.
and shout out to lilyheart!! larksong was her kit and yet she took to mentoring nightheart, who looks so much like his father, like a champ. mentor/apprentice relationships are always under appreciated but nightheart and lilyheart were super close to the point where nightheart saw lilyheart as more of a mother to him.
sparkpelt did eventually recover enough to interact with her kits before they were old enough to leave the nursery but for nightheart the damage had already been done. and with lilyheart as his mentor nightheart had no desire to rekindle his damaged relationship with his mother. feeling awkward every time she tries to interact with her son, sparkpelt naturally grew closer to her daughter finchlight, who was willing to form a relationship with her. and that mother/child relationship being so successful only but more strain on nightheart and sparkpelt’s relationship.
it’s not sparkpelt’s fault that she didn’t properly bond with her kits. she was depressed, and lost, and grieving. but i don’t blame nightheart for not being so eager to forgive sparkpelt or grow closer to her. we, as the reader, know what’s going on, but from nightheart’s perspective his mother simply was too tired to love him for a long time. he doesn’t fully understand what grief did to his mother, because he never knew larksong. all he knew was a mother who emotionally abandoned him at a vital part of his development. and that’s going to mess anyone up.

u guys know me, i love writing warrior cats with a touch of horror :)
ivykit races up to her one morning out of breath, saying: “mommy, mommy, guess what?”
whitewing laughs at her daughters enthusiasm - dovekit is usually the more chattier of the two, and seeing ivykit so excited is a rare occurrence.
“what?” whitewing purrs, bending down to lick behind her daughters ears.
“i made a new friend!” ivykit chirps, ducking from her mothers grooming.
whitewing pauses for a moment, confused a little about her daughters statement - ivykit knows every cat thunderclan by now, as does her sister. after a moment, she guesses that this is probably just an imaginary friend; she never had one herself, but she remembers ferncloud telling her that spiderleg did when he was young. poor ivykit can be so quiet, a little lonesome - but she seems so happy right now that whitewing doesn’t want to burst her bubble.
instead, she purrs: “oh, really? a new friend?”
“mmhmm,” ivykit nods, looking out of the nursery’s entrance. “i told him i wanted to come and introduce you to him, but he was a little shy.”
whitewing chuckles - definitely an imaginary friend. ivykit is only four moons old, so she supposes she’s not too old to have an active imagination - and she seems so happy at the moment, too.
“well, that’s okay,” whitewing says, smiling at her daughter. “where did you meet him?”
“behind the apprentices den,” ivykit tells her, proudly. “i saw him hiding there and went over to ask who he was, but we started talking and he’s pretty funny.”
whitewing twitches her whisker. “well, that’s good. where are his mom and dad? did you ask him if he’s lost?” she asks, humoring ivykit.
ivykit shakes her head. “mama, he’s like, the same age as you! i don’t think he lives with his parents!”
whitewing feels a trickle of discomfort down her spine - she doesn’t know why that detail bothers her, but something about this….friend begins to unsettle her. maybe ivykit is a little too old for imaginary friends, or maybe it’s for a reason that whitewing can’t place yet.
“oh, well,” she starts, not wanting to discourage ivykit when she seems so excited. “an adult, huh? what did…well, what did he look like? what’s his name?”
ivykit frowns. “he didn’t say his name,” she mumbles. “but he talked a little funny. i think it’s because of the stick he had poking out of his throat.”

siblings bonding over betraying local gods
Tumblr media
It looks like they are ready to from a rock band too
Following the Hollyleaf from the Nowhere/Lionblaze is Scourge AU ! The siblings reunites every cat who was wronged by Starclan or used for Starclan's entertainment. I feel like at this point in the canon, Starclan is so weirdly written. Starclan feels like it's both completely clueless on what it's doing, and at the same time it's actively trying to destroy living cats lives. They work so well as an antagonist, I couldn't not use them as a main antagonist.
Cats are :
Up : Fallen Leaves
Down, first rank, left to right : Breezepelt, Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, Jayfeather
Down, second rank, left to right : Yellowfang, Pinestar/Pine, Frecklewish, Ferncloud (she is just so mad her incel stalker of a brother Ashfur is in Starclan right now), Snowtuft
I should have added Goosefeather too but I forgot grrr
Oh, also I wanted to include Breezepelt too because I always had a soft spot for Breezepelt. I never really liked Crowfeather, but I started really disliking him seeing how poorly he treated Breezepelt. I felt so sad when Breezepaw was getting ignored and pushed away by his father constantly when the group was in the mountains. I know a lot of people may disagree, but Breezepelt deserved so much better. Breezepelt should have been helped by the Three when they saw that he was definitely in pain emotionaly. I feel like the narrative tried to forgive Crowfeather, all the while Crowfeather was doing huge damages to Breezepelt (I read the books in French so maybe the French version just really pushed this narrative forwards ?)
Breezepelt is just a little guy I relate to a lot
If you have any ideas of cats who where wronged by Starclan too, feel free to tell me !

Lynxstorm!
Tumblr media
Design Notes:
In my last design for him I made him a light gray tabby colorpoint, but I decided to make him a black tabby colorpoint this time because 2 of his kits are black, and despite the fact that RoC does not follow realistic cat genetics... it still bothers me bec it makes no sense that two dilute cats would have non dilute babies LOL
I actually really like this change tho!!! I think it looks really cool!
Also fun fact! His white is the exact same as Tigerclaw's and to make his gray I took Thistleclaw's gray and made it the hue of Snowstorm's blue!
Character Bio:
Lynxstorm
(Whitestorm)
Cis Tom; he/him
Age as of 1st arc's beginning: 4 cycles, 4 moons; ~33 Hyrs
Title meaning: -storm =   a cat who is powerful in battle; strong and fights like a storm; Was specifically given this title in reference to his mother.
Warrior -> Second of Thunder Order; was in line due to being Star Bluefrost's nephew
Mentor: Star Bluefrost
Mother: Snowstorm
Father: Thistleclaw
Siblings: Sky; Shine; Shimmer; Star Tigerclaw
Mate: Willowchime
Kits: Sootfur; Rainwhisker; Sorreltail
Step-Kits: Darkstripe; Graybelly
Grandkits: Cinderheart; Honeyfern; Poppyfrost
Step-Grandkits: Ashfall; Ferncloud; Willowfeather; Oakfeather
Other notable kin: Star Pineheart (grandfather); Leopardfoot (Grandmother); Swift (nephew); Brambleflower (nephew); Star Tawnyclaw (neice); Mothwing (neice); Star Hawkfrost (nephew)
Extra notes: I changed his name to Lynx bec White is boring and it matches with Tiger!
Lynx was mentored by Bluefrost bec I think thats cute, and it also just adds to why they are so close <3
another fact! Blue wished she had chosen Lynx to be her Second instead of Tiger... but tbh Tiger probably would have killed him, even if Lynx was his brother.
Character Summary:
Lynxstorm and his littermate Tigerclaw were Snowstorm and Thistleclaw's second litter, the first being a litter of 3 which all sadly died due to a premature birth. It was many cycles before Snow and Thistle tried for a second litter as the death of the first had left Snow distraught and fearful of it happening again. However their second litter were healthy and strong, and because of this Snow named them after two kinds of powerful and strong wild cat.
Thistleclaw took far more interest in Lynx's brother Tiger, as Tiger was the larger and stronger of the two, it was obvious that Tiger took after Thistle, which Thistle loved. However Lynx was smaller and more empathetic and kind, he spent far more time with his mother and found his father's more cruel nature unappealing.
As Lynx grew he also took far more notice of how toxic his parent's relationship was. Thistleclaw was so obsessed with power and strength, that he would often judge his own mate for doing things he deemed "weak" and Snowstorm would refuse to let anyone think her weak and would feel the need to prove Thistle wrong. Thistle didn't just put this pressure on his mate either, he put it on his sons, especially Tiger, and Lynx grew to hate Thistle for it.
Snowstorm died during a border dispute early into Lynx and Tiger's apprenticeship, and this drove Thistle to be even more cruel. Thistle would take his sons out on extra night time training sessions that were far more brutal than anything a normal apprentice would be doing. Lynx knew that he only rarely was taken on these training sessions, Tiger on the other hand was trained constantly by Thistle. Lynx wanted to tell someone but Tiger made him swear not to, as Tiger wanted those sessions to learn how to be strong, even if he hated Thistleclaw for how brutal he was during them. Lynx never learned that Thistle had also been training Tiger in the Dark Forest as well...
As an adult, Lynx stayed far away from his father, choosing to go about his live happily and without any Thistleclaw bullshit. This would be made truly permanent when Thistle was found out for his grooming of Spottedleaf, Lynx was horrified by this (though not 100% surprised by his father's actions). Lynx joined Bluefrost's plan to assassinate Thistleclaw instead of simply banishing him, and though Tiger was the tom to serve the killing blow, Lynx was certainly there to make sure the deed was done. This not only felt like vengeance for Spotted, this felt like vengeance for his childhood, for his brother, and for his mother.
During the first arc plot Lynx becomes a big role model to Fire, being something like a father figure along side Lioheart.
Lynx got closer to and fell in love with Willowchime around the time that Gray was an apprentice, Willow always wanted to chat with Lynx and Lion about her son's apprenticeship and they started bonding from there. Lynx is also one of the only cats to learn the full story of Willow's past romance with Dark and Gray's kittypet father, and he holds not judgement towards her for it.
Lynx and Willow both died in the great battle against Tiger Order.
...
[Image ID: A digital drawing of Lynxstorm an au version of Whitestorm from Warrior Cats. He is standing tall and proud, with his right side showing, and he has a calm expression and smile. He is a long furred, white tom with dark gray almost black tabby color point markings, and white on his muzzle , paws and tail tip. His eyes are blue with yellow-orange irises, and his inner ears and nose are pink./End ID)

I don't want to hear people call Squilf a bad mother for not being in the nursery very often when the three were kits for /eight chapters/ when you people defend Fernsong and call him a great dad when the amount of times he 'raises' his kits would amount to a single paragraph, if that. It's worth noting she slept in the warriors den more frequently because (and I quote: 'where she wouldn't disturb the kits and nursing queens when she left on early patrols' - The Sight) Which you know, implies she did it to be considerate to her children and the other cats in the nursery. The idea she 'never cared about them at all' is patently untrue- one such example while I was skimming the pdf by searching her name is her complimenting Jaypaw's idea to put heather nectar in the herbs Leafpool instructed him to give her. She literally helps search for Hollypaw in Dark River alongside Brambleclaw on one of the patrols- speaking of, considering the text didn't make any effort to imply he was raising the kits from the nursery at all at any point, at least be consistent and call them both bad parents. I don't even think it's necessarily a bad thing Ferncloud and Daisy raised the three in the nursery, especially when you take into consideration that Squirrelflight couldnt've nursed them anyways, and she (unlike Crowfeather and Breezepelt) does interact with them positively in their youth. Which is more than Fern 'barely relevant to his daughter's life' song can say. Why is it that mothers are ran over with a fine toothed comb by the fandom, but the fathers raising the same kits rarely, if ever get that treatment? Because nobody seems to take issue with Brambleclaw telling Hollypaw not to worry about Lionpaw getting beaten by Ashfur to the point of bleeding or him choosing not to question Lionpaw further after seeing him use a move he'd never learn without Dark Forest training (which is undeniably worse than simply moving out from the nursery when you know your children are in good hands and don't want to disturb them or the others living inside of it), that's for sure.

did you already start planning squirrelstar's leader ceremony and if so who's giving her the 9 lives?
I'm still a bit concerned that the writers will pull something with her 9 lives, but I've got so many good choices for BB!Squilf that it's not an issue to start considering who's gonna turn up for her.
Plus, honestly, NOT totally interested in abiding by canon if they commit the dumbshit we're suspecting they might. Pre-emptively biting and killing it.
Here's the list of candidates so far. Everyone with a * is a definite yes;
Goldenflower Her mentor in BB, replacing Dustpelt! After everything Squilf has gone through with Bramblestar, and after Golfy took her son's side after the big reveal, it feels good for her to show up with a life for Judgement. To decide when to listen to her heart, but also, when to realize when it is leading her astray.
Sandstorm Mother choice is a solid one, though I'm leaning towards giving this life to Ferncloud for variety. Squilf's got 5 immediate relatives here to give her a life.
Hollylark* Her grandkit, and Sparkpelt's mate who sacrificed xeir life to take her illness away. Xey'd give her a life for Interdependence, for all of the connections that bind a Clan together. Love, friendship, convenience, family. Squilf is familiar with sacrifice in service of it... but it's more than that. To love is to BE loved-- she must accept reciprocity. And... xey'd make some kind of loaded comment about Nightheart, knowing that neither one of them want to talk badly about him. I might end up changing xeir life to something like "letting go," as foreshadowing for how I'm absolutely planning for Nightheart to NOT return to ThunderClan after his road trip with Frostpaw. BUT I don't decide arcs until they're done so we'll have to seeeeee
Firestar* Basically required. Squirrelstar is his daughter, the successor of his ideology, and the follow-up to a leader that Firestar considers a mistake. His chats at these sorts of ceremonies often get wistful, so I feel like they'd talk about second chances, wanting people to be better than they are, how to fix things that are broken and when they aren't worth the effort. He says it explicitly, "You're just like me. A spark of my flames, burning bright, long after I've become starlight..." His life would be for Progress. To continue to evolve and grow, to never be so stuck in the past that she can't see the future, to know when things can be fixed and when they must be broken.
Rosepetal I want to save her on one hand, but on the other, having her go out in a blaze of glory at some point in ASC or TBC is a good reason why Squilf didn't make her deputy. Rose was her first apprentice and has always been a dedicated, passionate warrior who would deeply want that spot. If she's here for the 9 lives ceremony, she'd give Squilf a life for Ferocity. "Give them twice the Hell you always do, so that it's like I'm right there next to you."
Shrewface* (Shrewpaw in life.) Her guardian angel. He helped her hide the secret of Leafpool's pregnancy, and has always stood over her, providing help secretly. Now he can finally stand before her and give her a life. He would actually stumble and chuckle, because he's wanted to do it for so long he's blanking on the life he wants to give her. On one paw, Squilf is a little annoyed. It's a super serious leader ceremony, holy moment in her life, but on the other... Shrewface is so HAPPY! His joy is infectious. He's standing before her as the adult he would have been, but under that, she sees the funny teenage best friend that she lost so long ago. It feels almost like being a kid again. So she picks her own life by saying, "How about one for Joy?" And he says, "Hey that's a great idea!"
Rainwhisker A ThunderClan cat who died in the WindClan Civil War, and someone she remembers fondly. The life he gives is a life for Collateral. He has no shame in how he died, and he believes Firestar's call was the right one. But he needs to remind Squirrelflight that beliefs are backed with blood. Every time she brings her Clan into war, there is a chance that someone will die because of her choice. He restates that he believes his death was noble; but his life will remind her of the cost that someone else might pay.
Sootfur If it's not Rainwhisker, I'd like his brother Soot to be here. I think his death was haunting, with how Squilf couldn't save him, watching him tumble down a rockface because of his broken leg and being brutally murdered by what-is-now a boar. She's carried guilt from how she couldn't save him her whole life, so in contrast to Rainwhisker, his life is for Acceptance. To remember that not everything is her fault, and she could NEVER be so perfect as to avoid all of life's misfortunes. Even if others pin blame onto her for something she couldn't control; no leader is powerful enough to save everyone. Thinking about it though, I might really try to slot BOTH of these guys in. I think the contrast of the two back to back is powerful; that actions have consequences, but not every tragedy is a consequence.
Ferncloud She just died very recently, taking both Graystripe's super edition AND his sacrifice in the Dark Forest. Graystripe is still alive, living at the tribe with his son Stormfur. She confronted Ashfur for Squilf, so it feels right that she also comes to support her here. Ferncloud, for the first time in so many years, looks at peace. She isn't gray and grizzled anymore, but sleek and vibrant. Her family surrounds her, Dustpelt, Elderberry, Brindleface, her many lost kits. So, the life that she gives Squilf is for Faith. In StarClan that she will always have Clanmates in the skies to watch out for her, in her Clan that there will always be future angels fighting by her side.
Longtail Her uncle, and Jayfeather's mentor who trained him into the full angel-punching cat he became. During the big trial she has in Squirrelflight's Horror, Longtail was one of her loudest supporters, and eventually nudged her backwards so her son could grab her ankle and drag her back down to the mortal plane. He's always been her wonderful uncle, so, he might end up taking that life for Faith from Ferncloud. Just depending.
Feathertail* I want her to show up in the ceremonies of every patrol cat who achieves power, as a given. If we get Crowstar, I also want her to be there. I just think it's nice that if Crow, Bramble, and Squilf ever did end up able to chat about this together, in spite of the TANGIBLE awkwardness of the three of them being in the same room, they'd be able to make a joke about Feathertail Gives You A Life and it would land a little TOO hard, be a little TOO funny, because they were hoping that SOMETHING would lighten the air and it did. But anyway, this incredibly specific desire aside, Feathertail Gives You A doobie life for Tranquility. That the once-impulsive Squirrelstar will be able to slow down and consider every action, to take a deep breath in stressful times and think about what she's about to do. That as leader she will be under immense pressure, yeah, but also immense power. She can always afford to take a moment before making a big decision.
Leafpool* MANDATORY. There's NO reality where I do not end off this ceremony with Leafpool. When she steps up, they can't look at each other without crying. It overwhelms them, to the point where Squilf can't even choke out her sister's name. Leafpool, meanwhile, has gotten used to controlling her body while her heart breaks into billions of little pieces. She'd done it for her whole life, and now, she does it again in death. "this life is for love," she touches her night-cold nose to Squirrelstar's, and the new leader's vision begins to fade into black, "you know why." From the darkness, memories burst forth. Of them as kits, their silly games and dreams, how they planned to one day be the cleric and leader of ThunderClan together. The terrible loneliness of being separated while Squirrelpaw was on the Sundrown Patrol. The ache in Leafpool's heart whenever she saw her sister mistreated; how she gave up on relationships with Crowfeather and, to some extent, with Mothwing as well so she could serve her Clan and stay with her family. The three kits, the anxiety as Squirrelflight took them, the way it felt like Leafpool was being flayed to give them up. Parenting, loyalty, betrayal as Hollyleaf snapped and revealed the secret Squirrelflight desperately didn't want to keep, the guilt that Leafpool felt watching her suffer for helping her. The way they always felt like, on some level, it was them against the world.
And then she wakes up, back on the shore of the Moonpool, with her Clerics beside her. Leafpool is gone. StarClan is, once again, very far away, and she's left with nothing but the cold feeling on her nose and the looming specter of war ahead of her.
12 candidates in total, but only 9 can take the spot. So I'll trim it down once we get there!

asc shadow spoilers
“oh squirrelflight’s too old to become leader” i literally could not give LESS of a fuck i have wanted this for YEARS. if she actually DOES become squirrelstar catch me getting out the champagne and throwing a whole celebration. my girl has been through so much, she deserves this. idc if she gets her nine lives and lives forever i WANT her to live forever i love her so much
as for her nine lives i have predictions/hopes (again if it does happen and the erins aren’t chickenshit):
i get the sense that the ninth life is the most significant/important one and while it’ll proooobably be leafpool (sigh) i really want it to be hollyleaf. iirc while holly had that moment with leafpool on her deathbed (SIGH), she never got to have a moment like that with squirrel. i would kill a man for holly to give her mom that life and say “it’s okay. i love you. you’re forgiven and i hope you can forgive me too”
but as for all her lives in no particular order, i’m guessing/hoping it’ll be:
1. firestar
2. sandstorm
3. leafpool
4. hollyleaf
5. feathertail
6. dandelionkit and/or juniperkit
7. dustpelt
8. shrewpaw
9. graystripe
other candidates i would enjoy: foxleap or rosepetal (her apprentices), flickerkit (grandson), larksong (daughter’s mate), stemleaf (granddaughter’s mate), moonlight (unlikely but would be neat), brindleface or ferncloud (denouncing ashfur’s b.s.)
yellowfang being there would piss me off unless there was an apology involved.

GUYS. GUYS.
As some of us warriors fans know, BrambleClaw nor GrayStripe deserved to be deputy (maybe Bramble but he became a bitchy leader) so I GOT AN IDEA!!!
In the fight of bloodClan, where WhiteStorm dies and FireStar announces GrayStripe deputy. Well, what if he chose LongTail to be the new deputy instead??
LongTail then chooses to retire (fuck forced retirement because he got blinded. blind cats are actually really good hunters so he and JayFeather could be like the hunters of the clan alongside SandStorm) and instead of FireStar choosing bramble to be deputy, he chooses CloudTail?? (BrakenFur would be a good choice as well.)
Then, when FireStar dies, CloudTail becomes leader insteaddddd???
AND, what if this is the same au where FeatherTail gets saved by Squirrel and the same au where BrightHeart dies instead of SwiftPaw??
BrambleStar’s nine lives included FeatherTail so imma switch it up a lil bit.
CLOUDSTAR’S NINE LIVES:
1. FireStar, a life of courage to make the hardest decisions.
2. BrindleFace, a life of understanding the love of a mother. ( this life was originally given to BrambleStar by GoldenFlower but golden isn’t cloud’s mother )
3. BlueStar, A life of clear judgement of character.
4. MouseFur, a life of listening to your elders.
5. LionHeart, a life of having the greatest pride in your clan.
6. FernCloud, a life of honoring queens.
7. CinderPelt, a life of offering second chances.
8. BrightPaw, a life of exploring the borders beyond your clan. ( this life was originally given to BrambleStar by FeatherTail: But this is the same au where Feather and Swift survive so BRIGHT IT IS)
9. RavenPaw, a life of speaking out against injustice.
Thank you for your time <333
( @featherfrond and @espressopaw what do we think??)

Warrior cat relationships were better in arc 1
I just hc that they never changed. I think it opens the door for so many more interesting relationship dynamics if we don't force two cats having kits together having to mean that they are monogamously tied to each other, or even anything more than friends, necessarily.
The broader warrior cat society has undergone some interesting changes since the first arc. The clans' inevitable move from several independent at-best-non-hostile groups to an interconnected and interdependent society of "nations" is natural and interesting. It's been what's driven a decent chunk of the narrative for multiple arcs now. That's all cool.
But the way interpersonal relationships worked in arc 1 is significantly more interesting (and fun for shipping) than the heteronormative, monogamy-driven shift that happened starting with arc 2. I don't even think "mate" was uttered a single time prior to arc 2.
The key element, raised several times throughout arc 1's plot, is the idea that a queen is under no obligation to say who the father of their kits is. You get the sense that it's a social faux pas to ask or even wonder publicly (though I'm sure it was the source of untold amounts of gossip every time). This could be because the father is from a different clan (something that's ~illegal~ but everyone realizes is necessary for some good old genetic diversity), but it could also just be because the kit-making was a purely transactional thing.
Take Brindleface, whose kits were retroactively assigned to Whitestorm. Were they "mates"? The text doesn't really support that. More likely the two of them decided that they would make some good, capable ThunderClan kits together, had the necessary interactions to make that happen, and then went about their separate lives again.
I think about Firestar and Sandstorm. They're the subject of the first use of the word "mates" in the series iirc. But are they? Sandstorm definitely had a crush on him, and they spend a lot of time together, but mates? I think they work a lot better as really good friends and confidants who decided to have a litter of kits together. Sure, she still shares his nest sometimes, but we all know that Graystripe is in there as much if not more. Firestar's got a wife and a boyfriend and no cat has a problem with it. It's great.
As another example, think about Lionblaze and Cinderheart. They spend a huge chunk of Omen of the Stars boring everyone to tears with their relationship angst. I say it's better if the two of them decided, hey, Cinderheart's brains and Lionblaze's brawn would combine to make some pretty great kits. So they decide to periodically have some kits, but everyone knows Lionblaze is dating Berrynose, come on.
It doesn't always have to be transactional. Dustpelt is the ultimate "I love my wife so much" guy, and he and Ferncloud have kits as a natural consequence of their romantic relationship. But arc 1 gave us such a better vehicle for storytelling by letting us decouple romantic/sexual relationships for the act of making more kits for the clan. I choose to believe that never changed.

Worldbuilding Tidbits: Ranks
Most of these ranks are canon but I figured I ought explain some of them
Leader- Same as canon
Deputy- Same as canon
Druid- Renamed medicine cats
Lore-keepers- These guys are the historians, storytellers, lawmen, recordkeepers, diplomats, and morale boosters of the clans. Lore-keepers are very educated in history, legends and mythos, the warrior code, and diplomacy. They also keep extensive records of important events in the clan and older lorekeepers often help counsel the leader. Of course a single lorekeeper can't be good at everything, so usually a lorekeeper will specialize in one or two of the above fields. They don't fight and rarely hunt, and hurting or, Stars forbid, killing a lorekeeper or druid is one of the heaviest offenses in the clans
Warriors- Same as canon
Caretakers- The camp bodies, they keep the camp clean, repair/build dens, regulate which areas of the territory are to be hunted on, and offer emotional support for their clan. They can also hunt and fight, and are trained to protect their camp with their lives
Apprentices- Same as canon
Perma-queens- Mollies (or in rarer cases, toms and moggies) who stay in the nursery to help the queens and kits. They help raise the kits and offer support and comfort to their parents, and kitsit if their dam needs to take a break. So pretty much Daisy and Ferncloud
Fun fact, this rank is the most accurate to IRL feral cat colonies since they're made up of mostly mollies
Queens- Same as canon
Kits- Same as canon
Elders- Same as canon, but they are much more revered and the whole clan pitches in the care for them
---
Scavengers- A ShadowClan specific rank, they venture into the town to gather supplies and food and maybe recruit some new cats. They're very skilled in diplomacy
