We are not ready yet.

I say this as a Ferrarista in love, thinking about my scuderria. We are not yet ready, even though we are only a short time away now. I think this must be the reflection, necessarily melancholy, after the French Grand Prix.

Let me explain. Yes, the Ferrari of 2022 is a very good car. Unfortunately fragile, but competitive on any kind of circuit. The figures, the numbers say so.

A beautiful American website (Fivethirtyeight) took the trouble to calculate the disproportion, in terms of performance, between what Ferrari manages to achieve up to Saturday night and what it capitalizes on Sunday. Well, historically the data was compiled before France!, historically, I said, only Williams at the turn of the millennium, with Montoya of Schumi two, had a worse balance.

We are not ready yet. I'm crazy about Carletto, even stones know that. I consider him an extraordinary talent. I am sure he will mark an era.

At the same time, this season, Leclerc has made two serious mistakes in races while Verstappen stands at zero.

It hurt me to see the boy's sadness in the post-race, but I greatly appreciated the sincerity. Leclerc is much better than some ultra fans who I hope will soon forget about Formula 1.

Well, all that said, I remain convinced that we are on the right track. This will not be, I suppose, the right year. I hope John Elkann will do his.

Because I like lists and cataloguing the dumb shit I cared about. As my brother once said after seeing and reviewing NOW YOU SEE ME on a lazy Sunday, ‘Some would say it was a waste of time, others might say it was a colossal waste of time.’     

I’ll admit, it’s a bit over-the-top. Particularly including the Pats, but yeah, in the Tom Brady era that started when I was 14 as a Freshman in high school to 33 years old now and wrapping up soon-ish (?), there’s not a chance in hell I’ll care as intimately about this shit. Adam Ferrari

Adam Ferrari is an accomplished petroleum engineer and is the founder of a private oil and gas company, Ferrari Energy. Throughout various roles in the oil and gas industry, Adam was inspired to learn more about property rights and the inner workings of petroleum exploration and extraction. After gaining expertise in the energy sector Adam obtained knowledge of the financial industry through his time at an investment banking firm. He then pivoted to bootstrapping his own business, Ferrari Energy, from the ground up as he blended his knowledge of energy and finance together. Stuttgart. Das Porsche GT Team hat im fünften Saisonrennen der IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship seinen vierten Sieg in Folge eingefahren. Patrick Pilet (Frankreich) und Nick Tandy (Großbritannien) triumphierten mit ihrem Porsche 911 RSR im hart umkämpften Sechsstundenrennen in Watkins Glen (USA). Die Werksfahrerkollegen Earl Bamber (Neuseeland) und Laurens Vanthoor (Belgien) erreichten im baugleichen, rund 510 PS starken Rennwagen mit der Startnummer 912 den sechsten Platz. Porsche hat somit seine Führung in der Herstellerwertung weiter ausgebaut, zudem übernahm das Werksteam in den USA die Spitze in der IMSA Michelin Endurance Challenge. In der Fahrerwertung sind Pilet/Tandy nun vor Bamber/Vanthoor an der Spitze.

Der Erfolg auf der traditionsreichen Strecke im US-Bundesstaat New York wurde durch perfekte Teamarbeit, optimale Strategie und fehlerfreie Fahrt der Werkspiloten möglich. Nach dem Start aus der vierten Reihe des hochklassigen Feldes der GTLM-Klasse arbeiteten sich beide Porsche 911 RSR in der ersten Rennhälfte konsequent nach vorn. Ein Boxenstopp zur Halbzeit stand stellvertretend für den Anteil der Mechaniker am Sieg. Im Vergleich zur bis dorthin führenden Corvette absolvierte man den Service um 2,6 Sekunden schneller und ging somit an die Spitze. In der letzten halben Stunde führte Earl Bamber in der Startnummer 912 zunächst vor seinem Werksfahrerkollegen Nick Tandy, aber aufgrund eines anderen Boxenstopprhythmus musste der Neuseeländer kurz vor dem Ende zu einem kurzen Tankstopp an die Box und fiel somit auf Rang sechs zurück.

In der Gesamtwertung hat Porsche seine Führung in der Herstellerwertung durch den Sieg in Watkins Glen auf 18 Punkte ausgebaut. In der Team- und Fahrerwertung liegen die Crews der Startnummern 911 und 912 auf den ersten beiden Plätzen. Im IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, der die Langstreckenrennen in Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen und auf der Road Atlanta umfasst, ist das Porsche GT Team nun alleiniger Spitzenreiter.

In der GTD-Klasse erreichte das Kundenteam Pfaff Motorsports den sechsten Rang. Porsche-Entwicklungsfahrer Lars Kern (Weissach) sowie die beiden Kanadier Scott Hargrove und Zacharie Robichon zeigten im Porsche 911 GT3 R mit der Startnummer 9 eine beeindruckende Aufholjagd. Das Team war zu Beginn des Rennens aufgrund eines Reifenschadens und einer Durchfahrtsstrafe phasenweise bis auf den letzten Platz zurückgefallen. Anschließend spielte die Mannschaft die Stärken des über 500 PS starken GT3-Fahrzeuges aus Weissach voll aus. Werksfahrer Dirk Werner (Würzburg) und seine Teamkollegen Marc Miller (USA) und Marco Seefried (Wemding) fuhren im baugleichen Auto von Black Swan Racing auf Rang zehn. Der Porsche 911 GT3 R von Park Place Motorsports, den sich Werksfahrer Patrick Long (USA) mit seinen Landsleuten Patrick Lindsey und Nicholas Boulle teilte, schied vorzeitig aus.

Der sechste Saisonlauf der IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship findet bereits am kommenden Wochenende (7. Juli) im Canadian Tyre Motorsport Park in Bowmanville (Kanada) statt.

Stimmen zum Rennen Pascal Zurlinden (Gesamtprojektleiter GT-Werksmotorsport): „Wir haben aus fünf Saisonrennen vier Siege geholt. Wir führen in allen Wertungen, sind nun auch im Endurance Cup alleine an der Spitze. Es ist bisher eine wunderbare Saison. Für die Startnummer 912 tut es mir ein bisschen leid. Die Gelbphase kam einfach zum ungünstigen Zeitpunkt. In der Fahrermeisterschaft sind beide Crews auf den ersten beiden Plätzen, also haben wir nun zwei heiße Eisen im Feuer. Die Strecken, die nun in den nächsten Wochen kommen, sollten unserem 911 RSR liegen.“

Patrick Pilet (Porsche 911 RSR #911): „Dass wir dieses Rennen gewinnen, ist für mich geradezu unglaublich. Am Freitag lief unser Auto nicht rund, im Warmup vor dem Rennen gab es erneut einige Probleme. Unsere Techniker haben noch in der Startaufstellung alles gegeben, um das Auto für das Rennen zu reparieren. Das ist ihnen sensationell gelungen. Genau diese Arbeit, auch während des Rennens bei den Boxenstopps und die richtigen Strategieentscheidungen, waren der Schlüssel zum Sieg. Und wir Fahrer haben auch keine Fehler gemacht.“

Nick Tandy (Porsche 911 RSR #911): „Wir hatten sicherlich nicht das schnellste Auto im Wettbewerb, aber die optimale Teamarbeit hat uns den Sieg gesichert. Die Boxenstopps waren perfekt, die Strategie einfach nur gut und wir Fahrer haben unseren Porsche 911 RSR absolut konstant und fehlerfrei über die Distanz gebracht. Zu Beginn des Rennwochenendes lief nicht alles rund, aber als es darauf ankam, waren wir voll zur Stelle. Dies ist ein großartiger, sehr wertvoller Sieg für mich.“

F1 | Ferrari: Leclerc a jewel that has been well guarded 

Charles Leclerc has had a sensational start to the season with two victories and a second place, highlighting the sparkling talent he has always had. There are those who think that the Monegasque makes no more mistakes and knows how to be a leader. Il "principe" (the "prince"), in reality, is the same, but now he finds himself with a very competitive F1-75 that allows him to make the difference.

Charles Leclerc's great start to the season has been the cause of much excitement on the part of fans, enthusiasts and the media. The Monegasque has confirmed his ability to take the lead in the general classification, proving himself an excellent interpreter of the F1-75, the single-seater that the former student of the Ferrari Driver Academy had been dreaming of for two seasons. Leclerc has grown, he has matured, he no longer makes mistakes, he knows how to be a leader... But is this really true? Can one really believe that in the three months between the end of the 2021 World Championship and the beginning of the 2022 season a driver could have made a step of this magnitude?

If it is the driver's skills that are under scrutiny, then this assessment is a long shot. Something has indeed changed from last December to the beginning of this season—not Leclerc, but the car he has at his disposal, the splendid F1-75, the 'object' on which Mattia Binotto and the Scuderia's technicians have poured all their energies into. Last year Binotto asked for a bit of patience, and today we have to admit that Mattia had a very clear vision of what was to come.

If the single-seater doesn't even seem to be related to the one that preceded it, Leclerc is actually still the same. Certainly, there is a path of maturation that continues steadily (as confirmed, for example, by the career of Lewis Hamilton) but Charles' talents are not being discovered today.

For two years he has been a lion in a cage, with a front row seat to the Hamilton-Verstappen confrontation, accompanied by the knowledge that he couldn't be in the game. Last season, mistakes were made, of course, but they were very often triggered by the inability to surrender to the evidence [that he did not have the car to put himself up there], a hard reality to accept for those who feel they have nothing less than those who regularly alternate on the podium.

The current Leclerc has not matured in any particular way compared to the previous one, and in many ways, his current life is much more downhill than that of 2020/2021. The pressure test Charles had already passed in 2019 (just remember in what way he won the Italian Grand Prix), that of talent he had passed with flying colors before—otherwise he would never have climbed into a Ferrari.

And at the end of 2019, the Scuderia had made an unprecedented choice in its long history, offering Charles a contract renewal of five years, the certification of confidence in his role as top-driver.

The single-seater was missing, and now it has arrived. As various insiders have been saying for years, when there is a competitive car in the garage, everyone on the team becomes better, even the cooks. What is surprising, however, is that today we discover Leclerc capable of aiming for a World Championship title, the driver capable of taking on the responsibility of transforming the competitiveness of a single-seater into twenty-six points at the end of a race weekend.

Twelve months ago Charles was fifth in the overall standings after three races, with 28 points, while today in fifth position (again with 28 points) is Lewis Hamilton, who last year at the end of the third race was the provisional championship leader.

To exalt Leclerc's hypothetical growth is tantamount to believing that Hamilton has lost the polish of his best days, forgetting that a few months ago he thrilled the world with the splendid run-up that brought him within a 'Masi' of winning his eighth world title.

Judging a driver is a difficult and complex exercise, but luckily at Maranello there are those who, years ago, understood, protecting a driver who has become one of the pillars of the current Ferrari project. Perhaps without knowing it, Ferrari has set an example, seeing that after the five-season renewal proposed to Leclerc, Red Bull thought of proposing a contract to Verstappen identitical in length.

Those who have a 'jewel' at home hold it close, and at Maranello, they have known for some time that they had something on their hands that they could not risk losing.
