Seja qual for o seu lado nessa discussão, Over The Moon é uma obra que vale a pena assistir.

8 Classic Books to Read Before They Become Movies and TV Shows
With themes as resonant as ever, narratives as timeless as they come, and characters that nestle into our hearts and minds, classic novels will always influence contemporary content. Whether using the basis of a tale to weave something more modern or directly adapting the source material, classic novels provide bottomless pools of inspiration for filmmakers. Here are the classics you should read before they become movies and TVshows.
‘The Last Voyage of the Demeter’ | “The Captain’s Log” in ‘Dracula’
The Last Voyage of the Demeter is based on a single chapter — “The Captain’s Log” — from Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Stoker’s 1897 novel was not the first story about a blood-sucking vampire, as that honor belongs to Sheridan Le Fanu’s 1871 novel Carmilla. However, Stoker’s narrative has arguably influenced the vampiric landscape to a greater extent, as over 200 films have been made featuring The Count.
As for The  Last Voyage of the Demeter, the tale is set aboard the Russian Schooner Demeter —chartered to transport 24 unmarked crates of private cargo from Carpathia to London. The story will follow the seafarers aboard the ship who do all in their power to survive the voyage, as they are terrorized by a dark presence nightly. When the ship finally arrives at the harbor, there is no trace of the crew. André Øvredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) directs the upcoming film starring Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead, In the Heights), Liam Cunningham (The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Clash of the Titans), and Aisling Franciosi (The Fall, The Nightingale). The Last Voyage of the Demeter will premiere in theaters on August 11, 2023.
‘A Haunting in Venice’ | ‘Hallowe’en Party’
A Haunting in Venice is an Agatha Christie adaptation with Detective Poirot at the helm once again. Following in the footsteps of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, A Haunting in Venice sees Detective Poirot come out of retirement to solve the death of a man who lost his life during a seance.
Unlike the previous two murder mysteries directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh in the title role, this film will enter into the horror landscape, boasting jump scares, an eerie atmosphere, and quite the foreboding score. Inspired by Agatha Christie’s 1969 novel Hallowe’en Party, the sequel stars Kelly Reilly of Yellowstone, Jamie Dornan of the Fifty Shades trilogy, funny lady Tina Fey, and Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh. The film premiers in theaters on September 15, 2023.
‘Wonka’ | ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’
Though not a direct retelling of Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wonka will serve as a prequel to the tale set forth in the Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp-led adaptations.
#WonkaMovie Director, Paul King hosted an early look at the new trailer 🤩

— Warner Bros. UK (@WarnerBrosUK) July 6, 2023
The upcoming movie musical will trace Willy Wonka’s journey to becoming a famous chocolatier. Timothée Chalamet will take on the iconic cooky candyman, with Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant, Olivia Colman, and Ryan Gosling rounding out the primary all-star ensemble. Director Paul King (celebrated for his work on Paddington and Paddington 2) spearheads the film he co-wrote with Simon Farnaby (Ghosts, The Phantom of the Opera). The highly-anticipated fantasy is scheduled to premiere in theaters just in time for Christmas on December 15, 2023.
‘The Color Purple’ | ‘The Color Purple’
Nearly 40 years following the film that made Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg household names, The Color Purple will return to the silver screen with an all-star ensemble led by Fantasia, Taraji P. Henson, Ciara, Halle Bailey of the live-action The Little Mermaid, Corey Hawkins, and Danielle Brooks (Orange Is the New Black).
The Color Purple, by Alice Walker, documents the trials, tribulations, and gradual triumph of Celie (Fantasia) — an African American teenager raised in rural Georgia. Celie narrates her experience via painful letters written to god in a story that examines race and racism, spirituality, self-realization, and more. The Color Purple is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 18, 2023.
‘The Fall of the House of Usher’ | ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’
Edgar Allen Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher is one of the author’s most celebrated short stories. Though not exactly a book, its legacy warrants its place on this list, and you will find it in any notable collection of Poe’s works. Capitalizing on the eerie and medieval atmosphere akin to gothic fiction, the tale puts forth themes of isolation, family, and madness to lay the groundwork for the eventual collapse of a decaying mansion.
The story follows an unnamed narrator who is called to visit The House of Usher by his childhood friend, Roderick, who is slowly dying. The narrator, empathetic for a man on his deathbed, heads to the mansion (and stays longer than he should) out of respect for his childhood friend’s final wishes.
A few minutes ago we wrapped production on THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER, closing a huge chapter of my life. I've worked in Vancouver almost nonstop since BLY MANOR in 2019. We made 4 series in 3 years, only taking a short break for the COVID lockdown in early 2020.
— Mike Flanagan (@flanaganfilm) July 9, 2022
Mike Flanagan — the genius behind the Netflix adaptations of Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House, Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game, and Henry James’ Turn of the Screw (The Haunting of Bly Manor) — helms the upcoming series. Flanagan, in a manner similar to Quentin Tarantino, likes to call upon the same actors; thus, it should come as no surprise that this series will star Carla Gugino, Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, and Annabeth Gish — all of whom have worked on multiple Flanagan productions. The series is expected to drop on Netflix in the fall of 2023.
‘Harold and the Purple Crayon’ | ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon’
Originally scheduled to premiere in theaters this summer, the live-action retelling of the beloved children’s classic is now scheduled to premiere sometime in 2024. The story will follow Harold as he embarks on a magical mission with the help of his purple crayon.
While Sony has remained rather tight-lipped about who’s playing who in the upcoming film, we do know a handful of the A-listers set to take center stage. Zachary Levi, Zooey Deschanel, Ravi Patel (Animal Control, Come As You Are), and Camille Guaty (Prison Break, Daytime Divas) are all set to star in the film from Rio and Ice Age director Carlos Saldanha. Writers Dallas Clayton (An Awesome Book of Love) and David Guion and Michael Handelman — who worked together on Slumberland, Dinner for Schmucks, and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb — penned the screenplay/

‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ | ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’
A movie in 2002. A British TV series in 1956. A TV miniseries in 1998. A 2023 ViX original series starring William Levy. And, now, an upcoming film from Director Matthieu Delaporte starring Pierre Niney (It Boy, Masquerade) in the title role. In short, The Count of Monte Cristo remains a timeless and captivating story from French author Alexandre Dumas.
The novel chronicles a man’s revenge-seeking journey following his escape from prison and contemplates themes of vengeance, mercy, justice, forgiveness, betrayal, transformation, power, and identity.
Screenwriters Delaporte and de La Patellière told Variety that their film, “will be told from the point of view of Edmond Dantès, the first French superhero, who steps from the light into the shadows, assuming the identity of masked avenger.” The film will premiere in French cinemas on October 23, 2024. An American release date — whether theatrical or streaming — has yet to be announced.
‘Lord of the Flies’ | ‘Lord of the Flies’
You have quite some time to read this William Golding classic — if you haven’t already read it as part of your high school literature requirements — as the BBC series was only just announced in April 2023. British playwright Jack Thorne (Best Interests, Help, Kir) will take on the challenging task of adapting this complex story, which relies heavily on symbolism and inner dialogue to establish conflicts and thematic undertones.
The BBC limited series will be the first-ever on-screen adaptation of Lord of the Flies, consisting of four one-hour episodes. The narrative follows a group of young boys who wind up stranded on a tropical island, giving rise to themes of civilization vs. savagery, power and control, loss of innocence, and more. A cast and release date have yet to be announced, but be sure to check back with Thought Catalog for updates.

it's been a while since things about a movie, probably, i don't remember, and i'm not going reading through old posts. last year I watched all three Channel Awesome anniversary movies, and despite them being bad, i have been thinking about them, mainly it's in the third one, how they continued the running thing of not seeing Todd's face by making him Robocop. and they're in my movies yt playlist, so I'm doing it again.
Kickassia (2010):
last year, i gave it a 1.5/5.
i hadn't noticed it, but i think Lindsay Ellis is doing a Sarah Palin impression, but an impression of Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin; the whole 'I can see Russia from my house' thing.
'but Mars Girl is a woman' "sure she is, and I'm the tooth fairy' what? [ok, so this bit's from after I finished, and i was going to come back and say something about not knowing who wrote it, so I can't pin it on singularly that person, but then I remembered that this movie has opening credits, and Doug Walker volunteers himself. so I correct this] Hey Doug, what?
this movie shits on Jimmy Carter as a politician, the guy who warned about how the US needed renewable energy in the 70s, then the Reagan and Bush Sr. administrations said no.
i used to watch nostalgia critic for about a year in 2019, so i don't know who most of these people are, the only one i recognise is Linkara, so they're trying to do dramatic scenes with character stuff, but it means nothing currently.
'we heard gunshots!' "did they come from a gun" - unfortunately, that is the exact kind of stupid comedy i like.
unfortunately, that single point is counteracted by a line 3 minutes later; 'I feel like a puppy that got raped by a bulldozer' not really one for rape jokes.
is this a cutaway gag, but one that's the instructions for risk?
cameos work so well, especially when you don't know the people, but i've said that already.
there was a scene that really reminded me of the classic: 'but i didn't even get her email address' from Spy Kids 3D. for better or worse, given I haven't seen that movie either.
previously it was a 1.5 because it was just dull. and it's still 1.5/5
Suburban Knights (2011):
previously, this was a 2.5/5. it was more interesting, but still not good
ha ha, referring to character in one property by the name of a character from another property played by the same person, ha
i'm going to guess that Doug wrote this one too, in which case; What's his issue with Jimmy Carter, he seems like a nice guy. the guy from inside a book, from the 80s went; 'did we ever have a president worse than Carter?' but i guess that makes more sense, Reagan administration shitting on his legacy, making him look hapless, and all.
I've got less to say, the plot's more interesting, the acting's the same, but it's intended to be a fantasy not a drama, so it can work.
it's probably satisfying for the people who left Channel Awesome to see Doug lose twice in two movies.
To Boldly Flee (2012):
this was a 2/5, there's plot, it just relies even more heavily on knowledge from their videos.
I'm watching this three days later, had work so i couldn't watch it the next day. instead i watched Fantasia 2000 and The First Avenger, both much better movies than this.
there's a joke about 'Spoony' being attracted to his sister, which is kinda distasteful to begin with, but then i thought i remembered that he was the contributer who had a mental breakdown, looked it up, and he tweeted about having sex with someone, and people took it as being that he would rape her. i haven't seen the tweet, so I'm not sure. even so, jesus christ mate.
acting, emotions, the characters are seeing one of their friends maybe die, but they're blank, masterful, the layers of their performances, etc. etc.
poo jokes and penis jokes, sick. I'm not against a good penis jokes, and good thing too, because this one is... fine.
'zombies, dressed in confederate uniforms, fighting women in bikinis' does sounds like a B-movie that I'd hear about, go 'ergh, seriously?' and then never think about again, so i guess they get a point, good job Bradikan.
if any of the idea for the aftermath of the email-writing scene came from the people on-screen, then it's still concerning, but if Lindsay Ellis wanted to dress as Seven of Nine, sure, whatever. if it came from Doug, which it most likely did, what the fuck.
I don't know who she is, but the woman who got 'mind-altered' was pretty good.
not entirely sure what the death star parody is meant to be, it looks like a curling stone to me, but for the life of me i can't remember a scene where it was referenced.
i don't think that's the guy who played Ma-Ti.
'... I'm British, our only contributions to culture is comedic cross-dressing and spotted dick' - "FilmBrain", 2012.
turns out i'm an idiot, the death star is a bomb.
'you've got to point out the things that don't make sense' you mean what they were already doing, isn't that the bread-and-butter of this MCN, finding the small issues, and making references to other media and jokes out of them, then surely it shouldnt' expand any more, because they'll have already said it, and put it out into more public consciousness.
i bet the "that was a good crossover" 'this was too' was added in later in production, when they were getting to the end of the one week of filming.
it's still a 2/5.
if Dominic Noble was in them, it probably wouldn't have made them better movies, but i like the guy so it may have helped my enjoyment of them at least.

This review of Return Of The King on goodreads
[image ID under the cut]
The review itself contains 5 heart emojis as a divider followed by text: “a rousing climax to the most ravishing love story of the modern age. tempestuous, tormented Frodo at long last learns to accept the love of his lifemate - the loyal and submissive Samwise Gamgee, bottom-extraordinaire. this is truly a tale of love's labour hard-won, and at such a cost! but love conquers all in the end, and even bitter, militantly hetero villain Sauron cannot stand in the heart's path for too long. in this third book of the torrid trilogy, Frodo's love-hate relationship with the concept of commitment - deftly symbolized by a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, designer ring - reaches a dramatic fever pitch, as he wrestles with his awkward feelings about monogamy & gay marriage in the boiling, repressive deserts of "Mordor" (clearly a stand-in for maverick Texazona). fortunately, the maternal Sam is constantly by his side to offer succor - forever the wind beneath Frodo's wings.”

There is another heart emoji divider followed by “the incredibly racy & erotic atmosphere is filled with a circuit party's worth of soldier types, as well as many classic queer icons: butch trade turned romantic male-model Aragorn; saucy friends-with-benefits Merry & Pippin; the tough & dour yet loveable uber-dyke Arwen; little bear-daddy Gimli; cringing closet-case Oh My Precious; fey pretty-boy Legolas; the exquisite drag queen enchantress Galadriel; and of course, presiding over them all, flouncing from scene to scene, battling his nasty sourpuss of an ex-boyfriend Saruman, and just chewing up the scenery like no one else...the fabulous and effervescent Gandalf the Gay. you go, girlfriend!”
Another heart emoji divider followed by “despite the couple dozen unnecessary scenes of Sam staring dreamily into Frodo's sad sad eyes, this is truly a flawless and timeless gay classic, one that boldly states Love Is a Glorious Burden That We Must Ever Shoulder. love knows no boundaries. and even the smallest of men can have the biggest...."heart", i suppose. queer fave Enya even contributes to the soundtrack. Return of the King is a luscious, deliriously homoerotic fantasia.”
After one last heart emoji divider the text says “oops, forgot i wasn't reviewing the thrillingly fagtastic film version. well, as far as the novel goes, it is perfect. i wouldn't change a word. even the poetry is awesome.”

#Fey-Fey #Netflix #ACaminhoDaLua #OverTheMoon https://www.instagram.com/p/CXbOXPkLSy_/?utm_medium=tumblr

send me a fc +👥 to see a character i’d play with that fc.

Anything Nice to Say: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
Nicholas Cage stars as a centuries old sorcerer trying to wipe out the last of Morgan le Fey's followers in an action comedy that's loosely based on an animated short from the Fantasia anthology. None of that belongs in the same sentence together.
But, if you've got some time, it's a fun movie. We didn't have too much trouble finding anything nice to say about The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
