moonshine for the song thing!

So I thought this was gonna be really hard, but then I like... got going 

Daughters by Little Big Town comes to mind, because while gender roles are different at the Crick I feel like Moonshine struggles a lot with expectations to what she should be and do. 

I’ll Stand By You by the pretenders for what feels like obvious reasons, Moonshine is fiercely loyal and will stand by her people through anything. 

Suzanne by Leonard Cohen partly because I get a slight Moonshine vibe from some of the descriptions of Suzanne, but mostly because of the Jesus verse, because I think Moonshine gets so caught up in saving/helping other people that she doesn’t consider the cost of it sometimes. 

The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert because I feel like it reflects Moonshine’s love for the Crick. 

Follow Your Arrow by Kacey Musgraves because it’s an awesome song about being unapologetically yourself, which is hella Moonshine vibes

eyyy you got lucky! you got a song with words!!! i think i listened to this album in full during the spring 2019 semester, because i was really feeling the vibes of “another brick in the wall pt 2″ (that’s the “we don’t need no education / we don’t need no thoughts controlled / no dark sarcasm in the classroom / teachers leave them kids alone” fuck the establishment song lmao), so i listened to the full album for context. i really, really like the instrumentation of this song, and the descending melody of those lines specifically - i didn’t expect the lower register to be so heavy there, and it’s really nice in a hair-up-on-the-back-of-the-neck way. i like acoustic sounds that have a low, rich bass presence, and this song ticks that box for sure!

14. Do you ever collaborate with others?

Well, I haven’t before, but that’s mostly because of lack of opportunity.  I would be very open to collaborate with people in the future.  Oh, wait!  I was part of @kenmarlenn‘s Amnesty PMV project, which you should totally check out if you haven’t already!

23.  Do you draw more fanart, or more original art?

Right now I’ve been drawing a lot more fanart.  I do like drawing original art, but being able to draw taz stuff and post it here really helps with my motivation

what’s your favorite part of the original story you’re writing?

:O!!! there’s not like,,, a favorite scene, but I really like a few things about it! First is the way I decided to write the dialect, which is kinda sorta city talk / kinda sorta south talk.

i also like that I can sorta use this story to cope? it focuses on grief and growing up and I want it to feel as realistic as possible?? bc I'm love the characters but they need that Real Life Taste

three! this story makes me feel okay about writing dialogue. i always get nervous writing dialogue bc im not the best at conversations at all, so this helps me practice without the fanfic stress of “i need to stay in character” because I decide what “in character” is!!!
