If no problem, why expose them to ruthless killers? Did your mate put your brain through the mincer or why is your logic so off?
She thinks one thing and then does the complete opposite, what is this?

when people say “b-b-but feyre HAD to lock nesta in a house because she was embarrassing her and rhys”
seriously?
mor, azriel and cassian all canonically slept around and drank their weight in alcohol for CENTURIES and it’s not embarrassing? cassian publicly banging someone against a wall is less embarrassing than nesta privately bringing guys home?
feyre destroying a court when she’s supposed to be a high lady is less embarrassing than nesta drinking and keeping to herself?
feyre breaking the rules of the high lord meeting and using her powers to attack court officials is less embarrassing than nesta drinking?
feyre and rhysand banging in the sky over velaris is less embarrassing than what nesta was doing?
feyrug and riceman designing their 6th mansion while their citizens are struggling after the war is less embarrassing than what nesta was doing?
feyre saying that nesta was embarrassing her is so funny to me because feyrug, rhystrash and the inner circle have single handedly embarrassed themselves so much 😭😭😭 anyways, let’s finally admit feyre pulled a tamlin on nesta and move on 👯‍♂️

So Feyre is 21 years old.
During those 21 years she has:
Almost died helping her family survive harsh winters;
Survived tortures at UTM that included killing innocent Fae in order to save all Fae (which we know traumatized her indefinitely);
Actually died to save Prythian;
Was reborn as an immortal High Fae with the powers of all seven High Lords and is therefore one of the most powerful and threatening/threatened High Fae in Prythian;
Saw her sisters be turned immortal against their will after being taken hostage by her former emotionally abusive lover indirectly due to her own actions;
Was part of an extremely traumatizing war which killed her mate for a couple seconds, her older sister was kidnapped, saw her best friend sacrifice her life as a High Fae to save them all, lost her father unknowingly and when she found out realized that the last time she ever saw or spoke to him was when she was kidnapped by Tamlin, lost hundreds of Illyrian warriors, saw entire territories be decimated, etc.
So, that’s a lot right? I don’t think anyone could disagree, and I feel it’s why a lot of us admire Feyre because she’s been through so much and has still seen the other side.
BUT, now she wants to have a baby.
That’s fine. It’s her choice. But...I feel that her and Rhys deciding to have a baby is a sort of mechanism used to avoid talking about everything that has happened to her the last 2-3 years.
And I feel like this fandom is full of so many readers that claim to love strong, independent, “not-like-other-girls” female protagonists BUT are upset when those female protagonists don’t eventually fall down the “how a woman’s life should work out” rabbit hole—i.e. be a bad ass, but if you don’t eventually get married and then have children your character’s arc is still incomplete.
Like I seriously enjoyed that Aelin supposedly had years of personal time to heal as well as time to focus on regaining control of her territory and really owning being a Queen for her people and the Fae before she and Rowan had five kids (I think).
And I think it’s kind of ridiculous that Rhys enabled Feyre to rush this so much when she has JUST begun her immortal life. She literally has like 59 more years until she reaches what the Fae consider is adulthood. 59 YEARS. They seriously can’t even wait until then?
I mean maybe it’s because she’s a human at heart and so she has a hard time comprehending that she could literally wait 300 years to have a child and still have over 500 more years with them. I don’t know. Just another personal flaw in SJM’s writing of Feyre which I think deteriorated a possibly phenomenal character development arc.
And I’m not saying she shouldn’t be allowed to settle down, but why can’t she settle down as a woman without kids. Why can’t she just paint for a couple hundred years and work with local communities to better them and build massive estate houses here and there? Why does it have to be: bad ass, mate, marry, build nest, and have babies all within the first 25 years of a possible 1,000 year life span?

Lmao I just found out that SJM's parents are a court judge and a lawyer and she grew up in NY's Upper West Side (aka richie rich type of neighborhood). No wonder she sucks at writing characters who deal with poverty and discrimination and institutional issues 🤷🏽‍♀️ she's also an only child which explains Feyrug and Alien behaving like the whole universe revolves around them 🤦🏽‍♀️
welp. that explains a lot
i don't want to say people from privileged backgrounds can't write characters from other backgrounds at all, but it definitely requires a level of care and attention to detail to make it realistic and to stop your own privilege leaking into your writing as much as you can. you need to research, you need to empathise, and you need to remember that you will likely never be able to capture the true essence of the experiences you are trying to write.
sjm does none of this. she tries so hard to be revolutionary but it falls so flat because she doesn't even try to develop any sort of understanding of institutional issues. she would rather use them as window dressing, case in point: using breonna taylor to promote ACOSF OF ALL THINGS. Y U C K. she gives very white-woman-trying-to-be-woke-to-prove-she's-not-a-racist energy. but her bigotry is so OBVIOUS in her writing it's fuckin painful to read.
again, she can't control her lack of siblings but BY GOD don't try to depict a complex sibling dynamic if!! you have no idea!! how it works!! NO SIBLING would tolerate how rhysand treated feyre's own sister, and no older sibling would let their youngest go out into the woods every day. you could grow up in the most divisive, broken family and there's still an unbreakable bond between siblings. you may disagree, you may hurt each other, you may not talk every day or get along. but you will never seek to destroy your sibling's life or put them in danger.
i'm a middle sibling in a house of three girls. my older sister and i talk a lot about how fucked up the relationship between the archeron sisters is (she's only read acotar and that was enough for her). reading these siblings is PAINFUL. my older sister and i would never send our youngest to hunt for us. i would never hope for my sisters to starve?? i would never let a MAN control my sister's life and destroy her apartment, or force her to hang out with my friends who HATE her. i wouldn't even tolerate anyone being rude to my sister.
my friend is an only child, and she's sometimes really confused at the dynamic between me and my sisters. how one day i'll be ranting about one and the next i'll tell her how we did something funny together. and that's okay!! it's not like she has any experience with siblings. but she's also not oblivious enough to go on to write an entire SERIES about siblings, about something she doesn't understand and likely never will.
honestly, from what i remember even aelin's relationship with aedion is more realistic than whatever the fuck is going on between the archeron sisters. at least their love for each other was never in question. they disagreed, but aelin and aedion would fight tooth and nail for each other. the archeron sisters? if rhysand asked, at this point feyre has already forced nesta into countless uncomfortable situations and pulled her life from underneath her. she's trapped her in a house with a man she's uncomfortable with, she DESTROYED HER APARTMENT, told her she's an embarrassment for having PTSD (which feyre herself has suffered) and then offered her up as a prize to eris, a known abuser. she may care about nesta, but she doesn't love her.
im so sorry i went off on a rant LMAO i have a lot of feelings about the sibling dynamic hahah

None of the Archeron sisters should be given positions of power. All three of them are uneducated and lack class. I love nesta but I don't want her to be the leader of Illyrians or whatever. Feyrug has already proven that she is unfit to be a high lady when she pulled that stunt in spring court during acowar. And Elain is just a no for me.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the Archeron sisters looked different? Like, they could all have some form of brown hair as the main tone, but you could play with undertones and highlights. ‘Cuase, let’s be honest, every portrayal of them I’ve ever laid eyes on basically makes them the same person put in different clothes, and it’s frustrating.
Elain could have golden highlights that lightened several shades in the summer when she’s able to spend more time among her plants. The way the sun catches could make her hair look like a sun of its own. She could be prone to snacking through the day as she worked through her garden and be the plumpest of the sisters. Blue eyes like the sky on a clear summer day.
 Nestle could have red undertones with some blond highlights. It wouldn’t take much for light to dance on her head and make her hair look like a living flame. Her body could look like a match stick, much to her frustration. Light brown eyes that are almost golden.
Feyrug could have the darkest shade among them. Black strands mixed among the brown and it looks like the bark of a tree at night. Given her archery, the girl would probably by built like a brick with the strongest arms and shoulders anyone has seen. Eyes deep green, but might be mistaken for black if you’re not paying attention.
I mean, it really doesn’t take much to give them some personality with their appearance.

Used to be so upset about sj//mess screwing with my country's traditions via her stereotypical portrayal in acotrash (you know, where feyrug's relatives die of typhus and malaria in bharat :)))) ) but now the more I think of it the funnier it is,, like india said this land is archeron-phobic and decimated all of feyre's gene pool whenever they walked into bharat to loot our spices or whatever colonial bullshit janet concocted.

Is it just me or does some criticism the Archerone dad gets feels very ableist sometimes? Idk maybe im reading too much into it
Yeah, I think you’re right actually. Stans can be pretty vile and they've proved on repeated occasions that they're horribly ableist (the kind of jokes they make about C/haol from ToG are terrible). So really, I don't think you're reading too much into it. Feyrug's dad definitely could've done better, but anyone who's wronged the protagonist in the mildest possible way is often demonised and torn apart by the fandom and it's known for being very insensitive so... :/

i just finished rereadin ac0war and the thing that i wanna rant abt is the butchering of the archerons dynamic, like im the eldest of three girls so n/esta is a character i would relate to from the get go and i just dont its absurd that the eldest would just let her sisters starve?? its like theres no love between the 3 at all. Their relationships are so fucking cardboard lmao like its clear sjm did no research she jus gave feyrug sisters so she could look like a saint at the start of ac0tar lol
Yesssss to all of this!!!! N/esta’s behavior makes no sense and it reflects SJ/M’s fundamental misunderstanding of class oppression and sisterhood/healthy interaction between women. I have a younger sister and she’s my BEST FRIEND. We take care of each other and our time together is precious. Almost every girl/woman I know with a sister is extremely close with her. Of course, not every sister gets along, and sibling dynamics are always different, but why couldn’t SJ/M have written the Arch sisters as really good friends? It’s so much more often that we see antagonistic women rather than women who support and love each other, and the Archs were a wasted opportunity to show some solidarity. I also hate how the blame is foisted onto N/esta, as if she “let” them fall into poverty, as if their fall was something that could’ve been avoided if they chose to act a certain way. Also, why would N/esta, the most authoritative family member, be the one who sat around and let her younger sister do all the work for nine years and then resent her? And how does it make any sense that she favored just E/lain and not Faerug???? Sigh. Everything in this series is so transparently written to glorify Faerug.

Hi! i'm the anon who got the 1st part of their message eaten lmao i was just saying that since sjmess intended for the archeron sisters to be evil but then changed her mind, she should've also changed the fact that they did nothing to help feyrug to feed the family, she's contradicting herself since 1. she described elain as having "a nurturing personality" yet she didn't care abt feyrug risking her life every day to hunt in the woods 2. someone as proud as nesta depending on others? unrealistic
agreeeeeeed 100%. and tbh even though she did change her mind, it doesn’t really come across in-text, since—as you said—elain and nesta still exhibit “evil sister” behavior. it just makes everything cheap, and introduces yet another way to pit female characters against each other. like it makes me wonder if sj/m has sisters—I seem to recall she has a brother? the reason I wonder is bc, even when I disagree with my sisters (i’m 23, my younger sister is 20, and my little sister is 18, so we’re kinda all mixed like the archer/on sisters are) we still remain loyal, we’d still bail the others out of jail, we’d still help them bury a body. THAT would be an interesting and unique dynamic in ya, if I do say so myself, instead of yet another group of siblings (specifically sisters) who don’t get along.

i’m sorry but feyre can be so embarrassing
like she’s really out here MAKING FUN of lucien, vassa and jurian for being called the “band of exiles” ALL THE WHILE she’s apart of a group called “the court of dreamers 🥺”
she’s really looking down on lucien like that? girl stfu
your “friends” are only your friends because you’re dating rhysand, and your title is only your title because you’re dating rhysand, and the only reason you have a house (since she thought it was funny to point out that the band of exiles didn’t have homes) is because you’re dating rhysand
i suppose her scoring a sugar daddy could be applauded but she’s really not in the position to be making fun, laughing at or looking down on someone
why does her ego exponentially increase every book?

just thinking of rhysand ruling all of prythian 😭
this man can’t even rule JUST the night court properly. he ignores the court of nightmares’ existance entirely (since, apparently in 500 years ONLY one girl has been a “dreamer” ok then) and can barely handle illyria and would rather build himself a 6th mansion than take care of these issues. and before you come for me and tell me “rebellions and outbursts take time to handle” rhysand has literally been a high lord for multiple centuries? and even if the illyrian army rose up, are you telling me they’d be stronger than the army of the multiple other courts?
and why would helion and the other high lords want to bow down and step aside for rhys to be the high king? why is being high king rhysand’s birthright? why would they want a tyrant and an oppressor as their high king?
another white man making the very limited POC characters that SJM has in her books step down so he can take over their courts and rule them 😍 gives me colonisation vibes
SJM, enough of this madness 😘

why do people want to read feyre’s pregnancy from feysand’s POV? like, did you guys read ACOSF?
it would have been feyre thinking of names for their baby and decorating their nursery all the while rhysand is lying to her and literally not telling her she’s going to die
we already got that one chapter of feysand in feyre’s pregnancy where rhys literally seduces feyre to avoid telling her that her pregnancy complications are what’s making him upset
he’s so gross
