"I won't be long. Save me a seat, alright?"
Sending Fez a tight lipped smile, you nodded. Putting on his white button up, still warm from when Faye had just finished ironing it, he didn't even think to question why you'd left the flowers and card that you'd just finished signing for Lexi on the side.
Nor did he second guess the backpack on your shoulder, heavy with creased clothes that had been haphazardly thrown in during your hastened rush once he was in the shower.
Your chest felt heavy as his hand caught yours, stopping you before you could pass him, "You sure 'bout this? We can always stay home."
"No... No. It's fine. I'm fine. We should go. For me as much as Lexi."
Swallowing the guilt the scratched at your throat, the acidic taste burning in the cuts it left behind, you pressed a chaste kiss to his cheek, watching as his cobalt blue gaze softened, accepting your unknowing deceit without hesitation. Even after all this time, Fez's trust in you remained steadfast, resolutely unwavering in the belief that you were a good person, despite all of your shortcomings and weaknesses. A faith that not even your parents seemed to have in you.
He left one last kiss on the back of your hand before you made your way toward the door, halting for just a moment as you inhaled deeply.
You would be back. Once you were better. If you ever got better. Because whilst addiction was an illness, it was chronic. It didn't pass like a cold, or the flu. You would feel the temptation lingering for the rest of your life. That much, you'd learned from the abysmal amount of NA meetings you'd attended.
You would never be cured. But you didn't want to flit between addict and recovering addict for the rest of your life. Because for once, that life seemed to have something worth staying around for. And it wasn't just Fez.
Your life as a child had been privileged. Much more so than others, and you had realized that whilst you could understand where your issues stemmed from, you couldn't blame the difficulties of your past and allow them to be your excuse for your future. You wanted to be a better person.
You wanted to be clean. Recovering. You wanted to be you again, even if you had absolutely no idea who that was, anymore.
Feeling a pair of eyes burning into you, your head darted round quickly, meeting the dark coffee colored eyes of Ash. Silently, he watched you with an unrecognizable expression, and for a moment, you panicked, almost positive that he could read your mind.
A mournful smile fell on your lips, watching as his eyes fell to your bag. "I'll be back soon."
His dark eyes remained on you, but you could feel them relax a little, even from the distance across the room, and the boy simply nodded, his intense gaze finally dropping and allowing you to leave.
Tumblr media
Squeezing your eyes shut, you tried fruitlessly to keep your tears at bay, knowing that if you let even one fall, the whole charade would crumble, and you'd end up back under the security of Fezco's bed sheet, relying on a man who simply didn't have the capability or expertise to help her. And why would he? He was a 21 year old, running two family businesses whilst bringing up his brother to the best of his ability. On top of taking care of his grandmother.
You were just another layer of stress that he didn't need. Not right now.
"Ay, you good?" The familiar voice of Custer made you flinch, hazy memories from a night that felt so long ago pushing at the brink of your consciousness and leaving a taste of how good forgetting could be.
"What're you doing here?" You prayed your voice didn't sound as meek as you were sure it did. Whilst you didn't particularly want to be rude to the guy, you also had no intentions of giving him any sort of pass. You didn't like him, and you didn't trust him. Even if Faye did.
"Seeing my girl. Where you off to?"
Furrowing your brows slightly, you watched as his fist clenched before his fingers fiddled with the bottom of his shirt, as if they couldn't stay still for even just a moment.
"Out. To uh... See a friend."
"Cool, cool. Your boy home?"
You wanted to tell him no. Tell him that nobody was home and his journey was a waste of time. But he knew damn well Faye didn't leave the house -- you weren't even certain if he knew she often frequented the store -- and there was at least some excuse for his appearance. So instead, you simply nodded, a forced smile on your lips as he passed, watching as he rounded the corner, out of your sight.
Your phone buzzed, causing you to jump and fumble to retrieve it out of your pocket, your heart settling as you recognized the name.
"You on your way?"
Clearing your throat, you nodded before realizing they couldn't see you, "Uh, yeah. Just left."
"Sure you don't want me to come get you?"
"-No, no. It's fine. I could use the walk to uh... clear my head. I'll see you at the church, though. I won't be long."
The voice sighed, and you knew they were hesitant, as if you would run off into the sunset instead, "Alright. Well, I'll be outside waiting when you get here."
"OK, cool. And Ali?" you heard him hum through the phone, awaiting your next few words, "Thanks. For all of this."
"Yeah, yeah," his warm laugh could be heard down the phone, "see you soon."
You placed your phone back into your pocket and took a long, deep breath in, ignoring the city air and trying to focus on steadying your heart. This would all be worth it.
Two letters had been left next to Lexi's card.
Sure, Fez might've understood, but you knew his ocean eyes would've stopped you leaving, even if his words would've told you it was OK, maybe even insisted you went. Helped you pack a bag that you didn't have to hide away.
But you would've stayed. In his apartment. In a rut. In and out of an addiction that would inevitably kill you.
So a letter would have to do. It needed to do.
Tumblr media
You passed by the closed store, eyes downcast as you refused to look in, despite knowing Fezco wasn't there, and didn't stop your pace until you were stood outside of a familiar house, the car in the drive way causing your palms to sweat.
All you had to do was drop off the letter. Put it in the post box and fucking run. You knew Rue wouldn't be there. She too, was at Lexi's play. But it wasn't her you were nervous to see.
Swallowing down your nervousness, you crossed the street and opened the old mailbox, heart pounding in your chest as you tried to exit as quickly as you'd arrived. A voice from the front door stopped you in your tracks.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
Taking a deep breath, you retrieved the letter, trying your best to not scrunch it up in your hands as you turned to the woman who somehow made you feel even more ashamed than you did every time you caught your own reflection.
"I'm sorry, I was just..." holding out the letter pathetically, you quickly stepped back as she approached you, her speed surprising you as she made it to you within a few strides.
"You need to leave before I call the damn cops."
"I know Rue isn't in, I'm not here to see her. I just wanted to give her-"
"Don't you think you've done enough damage? I don't give a damn what you want. You come within 10 feet of my daughter, and I swear to God-"
"Mom," a voice desperately called from the house, and you recognized Rue's little sister watching you both with a furrowed brow, disquiet evident on her face.
"Gia, baby, get back in the house. I got this."
"Mom, please. Come back inside-"
"I'm sorry. I just-"
"You're sorry? You're sorry? No. I'm the one who's sorry. Sorry that I ever allowed you to stay in my daughter's life once I found out how you knew each other. Once I found out what you are."
Unable to hold eye contact, your eyes settled on your dirty converse, "I'm so sorry, Leslie. I know, I fucked up and-"
"Don't you dare. I don't want your apology. My daughter doesn't want your apology. We just want you to stay the god damn hell away from us."
Leslie turned, storming back into the house, calling after Gia, but the young girl remained, large brown eyes boring into yours, unsure of her next move. Eventually, she peaked over her shoulder before closing the door behind her, her steps much smaller and slower than her mothers.
Wrapping her arms around herself, she intently watched your every move. Every breath.
"She has a chance of getting sober for real," Gia's voice was soft as tears collected along her lash line, "I know that it's not as simple as just... stopping. But... She has a chance, and I'm not gonna let anyone ruin that."
Nodding, you felt your chin wobble. Not for yourself, and not even necessarily for Rue, either. But for the damage her addiction had caused those around her. This was the fallout of her self-destruction. And you had only aided that.
You'd helped crumble the buildings that were crushing everyone who loved Rue.
"I know I have no right to ask you this but uh..." sniffling, you wiped your sleeve under your eyes, almost angry at the small tear that had fallen, "Can you give this to her? You can read it first, if you need to, but I uh... I need her to read it. To know that I'm sorry. For everything."
Gia released a sigh, watching as you held out the crumpled letter, arms still wrapped around herself.
"Rue was an addict long before you came along, and she would've relapsed with, or without you. I know you didn't help, but... You didn't cause it, either. Rue... She's not been good for a long time. Almost as long as I can remember. Ever since our dad..."
"I know. Well, I mean, I don't know, but... I know she's been through a lot. And I know she's a good person, and I don't wanna hinder that anymore."
"I'm sorry for what my Mom said. She's just-"
"No, not it's fine. I get it," you sent her a meek smile, as you nodded. Sometimes people need to get their feelings hurt.
Only once Gia's fingers had gripped the envelope, did you turn and leave, hoping the tears would at least hold off until you got to the end of the road.
Tumblr media
An apology. To the people you'd hurt. That was what Ali had told you. He was going to help you learn how to forgive yourself, but in the mean time, he had told you to learn to seek forgiveness in others. Whether or not they forgave you, whether or not you believed they should forgive you. All you could do was apologize. What they chose to do with that was out of your hands.
So once Fezco was sound asleep -- his body cloaking yours in a warmth that you'd struggled to draw yourself from -- you settled at the kitchen table, a school notebook open as you racked your brain for the right words.
A simple Sorry I fucked up your life didn't seem adequate enough, it barely scraped the surface of your feelings, but the longer your eyes bore into the lined page, the more you were able to sit with your emotions. And once you'd started, the words just didn't seem to stop.
You'd started with Rue. An apology, for doing what all addicts seemed to do and use her to get a fix. Sure, she was using just as much as you, and said she'd had no intentions of remaining sober, but you felt guilt regardless.
Your appearance couldn't of helped. Rue, who was used to using in secret, by herself, now had a friend to play with. One that was just as willing and as reckless as she was. It was a temptation that she couldn't decline. You knew you wouldn't have been able to, either.
You wanted Rue to know that she was a good person, and a good friend, despite her bad habits. But that they didn't have to define her. That she was so much bigger than this. That she deserved to be bigger than this. She just had to keep trying.
You wanted her to know that if some other alternate reality existed where neither of you had faced the challenges that led you down the paths you had taken, and you'd have still managed to find each other, you would've been friends. And even though you couldn't be sure whether that ending would ever happen in this reality, you could only wish your circumstances were different. But if you no longer being involved in Rue's life aided her sobriety, then so be it.
The next letter was addressed to Ash. Not only apologizing for turning his life upside down since your arrival, but for him feeling like he had to protect you. Whether he liked it or not, he was a kid, and he deserved to have the life that was so tragically torn away from his brother.
You asked him, pleaded with him, to remain kind to Fez. And whilst you knew the eldest sibling would need his support, you only hoped Ash would also seek the sanctuary that only his big brother could provide.
You'd never seen the type of loyalty that the brothers held for each other before. Never felt that loyalty, until Ash had shown you the night of Mouse's death. Of course, you never mentioned that in the letter -- you weren't stupid enough to incriminate either of you in regards to the drug dealers death -- but you hoped he knew how appreciative you were of him, despite the inner turmoil that he'd felt the need to protect you in the first place.
Faye's letter was much shorter, but you had to apologize for putting her in the position you had a few weeks earlier. You didn't know how she felt bout it now, but you'd seen her lingering, sorrowful glances as she passed you, your body curled up on the bathroom floor drenched in sweat and soaked in regret.
Fez's letter.
Well... that was much harder.
Buzzing in your pocket, you phone pulled you out of your pity party. Wiping the few tears that had trickled down your cheeks away, you didn't even bother to look at the caller ID.
You weren't too far from the church that held your NA meetings, and you fully expected it to be Ali, ringing once more just to double check if you still wanted him to pick you up from there or not. Especially now it had started to drizzle.
"What?" You sighed, voice trembling a little more than you'd liked. the voice sounded calm enough down the phone, and you felt a little guilty for answering so bluntly.
"Now?" Pulling your phone away from your face to check the time, you still had the best part of an hour before you had to meet Ali, "Yeah. Sure, fine. But I gotta be quick."
Tumblr media
Finally arriving at the apartment building just off Kemper street, the door opened before you even had to knock, the seemingly sweet woman's smile faltering slightly as she took in your appearance, "Oh, you're soaking. Come on in. I'm sure I have some spare clothes somewhere."
"It's fine, really, Laurie. I have extra." You motioned toward the bag on your back, causing her eyebrows to raise slightly,
"You're not going somewhere, are you?"
Watching as she sat down on the couch, you tried to swallow down your discomfort.
"Oh, uh... No. Not really. Just staying with a friend for a while."
"Trouble in paradise?" She smiled before quietly thanking Bruce Jr when he placed some folded up clothes beside her.
"No, nothing like that. Just a uh... change of scenery, I guess. Look, I really do have to get going-"
"You can't walk around in those clothes, you'll catch your death. Change into these, and I'll get yours into the dryer. Bathroom is down the hall."
"I have to meet someone-"
"-It won't take a minute to dry. Then Bruce will drop you wherever you have to go. C'mon. I don't bite."
Knowing that the easiest way to get out of here would be to entertain Laurie's fussing, you allowed her to help you, making your way toward the bathroom and changing, giving her the damp clothes once you were dressed.
"Now, you know back after we first met? When I did you a favor? And I said, one day, I'll need you to return that favor. And when I did, I expected your help, no and, if's or buts?"
Despite the cold chill that the rain had left you with, you suddenly felt a little too warm. Sure, you'd agreed to help Laurie, but you had been in a moment of weakness, willing to agree to almost anything for your next fix.
"I'm, uh... I'm not really doing that anymore."
Sending you a tight-lipped smile, you could sense how forced it was despite being on the other side of the sofa, "Oh, that's not important right now, sweetheart. But I do have an issue that I need your help with."
Licking your lips, you could only nod, hoping that you could just get out a little sooner.
"Good girl," the words felt patronizing, but her tone remained soft, "You see, there's this girl who agreed to take a lot of drugs off my hands, promising I'd get a good turn out. Only problem is, she's a first time dealer and I'm yet to have any repayments."
Wringing your hands in your lap, you could feel them begin to shake, "Oh, I mean... I'm not really useful when it comes to shit like that. I'm not exactly... intimidating."
A mocking smirk settled over the woman's face as her dark slate eyes settled over your face, "Oh, that's not what I'm asking of you. But she needs to learn a lesson, and I'm afraid, you're part of the collateral damage."
Any words you had died on your tongue the moment you felt a thump, barely able to recognize the searing pain as your vision turned black, and you fell into a deep unconsciousness.
Tumblr media
Looking down at his watch, Ali sighed, blowing out a cloud of smoke.
Leaning against his truck now the rain had stopped, he shook his head in annoyance. He knew he should've picked you up.
He'd got here early and had been parked outside since, so he knew he hadn't missed you. Instead, he had a terrible gut feeling that you had changed your mind. He'd been so close to getting through to you. To finally breaking down the walls that you had bloodied and bruised your hands to build, fighting him tooth and nail at every turn as you tried to convince yourself that you didn't need his help.
And then there you were, pushing yourself out of the uncomfortable plastic chair.
At first, he'd assumed the scrape of your chair indicated your leaving, and he had to fight to school his features as you walked passed him, making your way to the front of the small hall, eyes brimming with tears of acceptance, hands wringing in self-doubt and insecurities as you introduced yourself to the group for the first time,
"-and I'm an addict."
He had intended to speak to you after the meeting, but you'd found him first, and after a long chat, he'd agreed to let you stay with him until a room became available at the impatient hospital. He didn't question your current living situation, and the only thing you'd told him was that you weren't sure it was a place you could commit to getting sober. Not right now, at least. Not without help.
So before he left this evening, he'd set up the spare room with fresh sheets and extra pillows, placed a few books around the room, along with a jarred candle.
He could honestly say he was a little surprised by your no-show. Normally someone in your situation would only follow through with receiving help once they asked for it, and he knew from personal experience how low you had to fall before you'd ask for help. He wasn't sure you could fall any deeper without digging yourself a grave.
So when you hadn't shown up an hour and a half later and your phone had repeatedly gone to voicemail, he took one last puff of his cigarette before throwing it on the floor -- his boot stomping on it despite the puddle already putting it out -- before clambering back into his car, a deep sigh leaving him as he pulled away.
All he could do was hope that once you got your shit together, you'd call him, and you could both try again.
Tumblr media
The empty apartment was silent, shattered glass lay on the floor and not one wall was left untarnished, decorated in a flurry of bullet holes, and on the floor, the once white envelopes were splattered in blood, the deep crimson liquid distorting the words that were scribbled across the page.
Fez.
I need you to know, first and foremost, thank you. For everything. But I also need you to know how sorry I am. For everything.
I met you at a time in my life that seemed perfect. You had exactly what I needed. Supply and demand, I guess. But what I didn't realize that it was so much more than that. Not only did you have what I needed, but you were what I needed.
I know it feels like I'm rambling, and I know you're probably confused by this letter, but I need you to know, I'm not going to make it to Lexi's play tonight. But please, go for the both of us. I'm sure it'll be fantastic and please let her know how sorry I am to be missing it.
The night we met, you had shown me a kindness I had never known. You, a total stranger, took care of me when I was nothing less than horrible to you. I'm sorry for my original impression of you. I thought you were an average, run of the mill high school drop-out, who cared little about anything other than himself, hanging out at high school parties because he wasn't worth shit.
Now I know how wrong I was.
You, Fezco O'Neill, are anything but ordinary. And I'm sorry I took so long to allow myself to see that.
The man I know you to be is extraordinary. Supporting Ash, running a business, and taking care of your Grandmother are not small feats, and I'm so sorry that not many people know the real you. The one you allowed me to get to know. The guy who spins me around the room, dancing to the end credits of Stand By Me. The guy who spent far too long curled up with me on the bathroom floor whilst I was at my worst. The guy who did everything in his power to keep me safe, even if that meant going against his own beliefs.
I'm sorry that I took your hand and dragged you down to hell with me. I'm sorry for the cruel person I turned into at my lowest. I'm sorry that I'm not the person you deserve, not right now, at least.
I'm still in East Highland, but I needed to leave. I need support that I shouldn't unfairly rely on you for. I need someone with experience, so they can help teach me ways to cope with being sober, just until a position at a center opens up. It could be weeks, it could be months. But just know I'm safe. And, should things go to plan, and I remain here, I am most definitely sober. Trust me, my sponsor is a total killjoy. Which is exactly what I need, I suppose.
I know this might not work. I know that addiction isn't just a coat that I can take off once I've outgrown it. But I need to try. I deserve to try. For myself, as much as anyone else.
I'm sorry I had to leave this way, and I hate that we both know you'd have supported my decision if I'd told you. But we both know, I wouldn't have been able to leave you, had you known. All you'd of had to do was ask me to stay, and I would've. But I need to do this. I have to make this all count for something. To make myself count for something. Otherwise, what's the point?
When I come back. I'll be better. For you, for Ash. For myself.
I'm sorry. Thank you. I love you.

You had woken up disoriented and drugged, a needle still sticking out of your arm, a few too many holes made that made your skin splotchy and purple. Laurie had been standing over you, hushing you as she took the needle from your skin, kissing your wrist as a mother would have her only child before she stood. “Laurie...” you sighed out, trying to make sense of what was happening. “Laurie. Please...”
The older woman rubbed your cheek, “Shhh...” the touch running through your system all the way down to your toes, you took a breath, shivering at the discomfort. “They don’t like it when you girlies talk too much, hush now, sweetie.” You’d never felt like this before. You felt terrible.
She left the door open when she left the room, a man you didn’t recognize peeking through the crack of the doorway to look at you, he gave a pleased laugh, whistling.
You turned on the floor, the blanket beneath you did nothing to shelter you from the cold floor below. The lights were dim from the tiny lamp in the corner, nothing else in the room, but it wasn’t very big anyway.
It took a while to realize you were naked, only from recalling what you had been wearing earlier, and the cold air that you could feel everywhere but nowhere all at once, cause you were sweating terribly. Feeling incredibly hot all of a sudden. You rolled around, pulling the blanket with you as you broke out into a fever, the discomfort you felt was enough to distract you from the horrifying situation you were in currently.
“Laurie...” you drawled, whimpering as the drugs took you once again. It didn’t feel right at all, you felt sick and you felt fucking amazing all at the same time, but you were scared most of all. You had no idea what she had been pumping you with for the last few hours. “Fez...” you called for your boyfriend, sobbing as your eyes rolled back as you quickly succumbed to the feeling. “Fezziee...” you hiccupped.
“I like this one,” you heard the stranger say.
The man at the doorway pulled out a scrunched up wad of cash from his pocket, beginning to slide off his jacket, before Laurie stopped him with a shake of her head. “Just watching for now. She’s not ready yet, still under prep. But, if you wanted to purchase her, that’s different...”
You shivered as you followed your high, wondering what would happen next and if Fezco would ever find you before something horrible happened to you.
- - -
Fezco looks around as he rushes over to Rue, checking for anyone that was around the house that may be unwanted, clearly on edge. “What the hell are you doin’ here, Rue?” he questioned the girl, she follows the two of them into the house. “Imma need you to leave, I ain’t askin’.”
Her gaze lingering on the broken screen door, unable to even close it as it had no knob now, the whole piece completely gone as if it’d been blown to pieces, “I wanted to hang out...but obviously you’ve got some shit goin’ on,” her eye’s going wide at the state of the house. “What the--what the fuck happened here?” the glass on the floor, the broken deck doorway, the flipped table, the broken lamp on the floor, the scuffled carpet.
Rue steps into the house, slowly, Ash getting on the computer, looking for something, Fezco making a call, his shoulders low as if something heavy sat upon them. The girl’s eye’s narrowing as she followed the scuffs over to the room hallway, the bedroom down the hall had its door broken down, wooden pieces still on the floor.
Concerned was not the word to describe how she felt right. Scared wasn’t either. Worried, maybe. But, she was also pretty terrified. Terrified of the answer to her next question.
“Fez,” she hadn’t torn her eyes away from the hallway when she spoke, her voice small, reluctant. “Where’s (Y/n)?” she turns then, her brows knitted together in complete worry, stumbling forwards and away from the hall. She makes her way over to Fezco, taking a handful of his shirt as she pulls him, “Fez!” her voice breaks, her fists shaking, “Where is she?!” she sucks in a breath as she sees his face and the way he doesn’t look her in the eye. “No...” she shook her head. “What so she’s...she’s what? She’s gone?” her voice raising. “Is (y/n) gone, Fez? Come on, gimme something!”
“She’s not gone,” Fezco turned to her with a hardened look, pulling her hands from his shirt, the material stretching out as her grip hadn’t loosened. “Imma find her. Imma find her and kill the motha’fucker that did this,” he seethed to himself, stepping away from her. “Ash, go over the tapes. Try yesterday and this morning, find a camera that isn’t fucked with.”
Ash doesn’t say anything but nod, rushing to the room down the hall as Fezco took the laptop from him, sitting down on the couch, Rue following Fezco, still confused with what was going on.
“Who...wait, who did this?” Rue asked, loudly. “Stop ignoring me, man.”
“I told you to fuckin’ go home, Rue,” Fezco’s eyes flickered up to the girl before back down at the screen, rewatching this morning’s tapes, trying to find someone he recognized. “I ain’t need this right now.”
“Need what? I’m tryin’ to help you,” Rue frowned, offended. “I wanna help! My best friend’s fucking missing, well...kidnapped, by some fucking jackass and even trashed your crib,” she gestured around the house at the damage. “Lemme do something, I can help! I can help find her!”
Fezco looked up toward her, agitated. “You wanna do somethin’ helpful?”
“Yeah, dude!” She nodded before making a face. “Wait, you aren’t gonna just tell me to leave--”
“Go home, Rue.”
“Oh, come on!” she yelled out. “I can help you! I be doin’ mad detective shit. Besides you need all the help you can get, it’s not like you can ask the guys in blue.”
Fezco ignored her for now, trying to stay focused. “Just go sit down somewhere, man. I don’t got time for this.”
And so, reluctantly, Rue went towards the other side of the couch, around towards Ashtray, she sticks her head out of the sliding panel doorway, which was now gone, broken through. Alarmed, she looks down at the glass at her feet, it crunches, burying itself further into the carpet.
Behind her, Ashtray took a note from his pocket, letting it sit on the coffee table, sliding it over to his brother. “This gotta mean something. Wanna run this through some contacts?”
Fezco thinks on it, before nodding at the idea. “Yeah, man. Let’s try it.”
As they head back to work, Rue perks up at the new source of info, “Wait, ya’ll got a clue?” coming over to the coffee table, picking up the note, Fezco fumes and Ashtray gaps at the girl’s unwanted involvement.
“Rue!” Fezco grits. “What I just tell you, man!” He usually saw her presence as quite endearing
Rue brushes him off. “I’m good at riddles, just--” then she really looks at the note. 10k.
10k...?
Oh my fucking god, 10k.
As Fezco snatches the note from her grip, Rue stands there, horrified. Her expression morphing completely, shoulders stiffening and hands tensing up, she turns quickly so Fezco can’t see the mortified look on her face. The guilt that quickly begins to eat at her.
She had thought about it, of course. Of the money she owed Laurie, the drug dealer that she had made a fake deal with in a pathetic effort to get the pills that her regular plug, Fez, had been refusing her. In some way, she blamed Fezco, if he had just given her the damn pills and let her deal with whatever happened to her later, maybe she would’ve never went to Laurie, maybe you wouldn’t have gotten kidnapped...
No, it was her fault, oh my god it her fault. She went to Laurie cause she was fucking desperate and then she ran when Laurie had gotten her the first time, but now you were taken in her place.
She recalled being drugged out of her mind, just as she wanted, but locked in a room and awaiting to be sold for a fuck.
Rue feels so goddamn sick all of a sudden. She wanted to vomit.
God, that’s what you could be dealing with right now.
She did this. Oh god, she did this to you.
But, Fezco does notice.
“Rue...” he says, slowly.
Ashtray looks up, stopping in his typing. He glances between the two of them silently, before looking at Rue a bit more seriously, taking note of the way her entire demeanor’s changed. He closed the laptop.
Rue didn’t answer Fezco, didn’t even turn to face him, trying to think of something to say, anything that could defend why. But what could she possibly say besides the fact it was supposed to be her.
Fezco forcefully turned the girl around, “Rue!” to which she stumbled back away from him, her face made his stomach drop, knowing now that she knew exactly why this was happening. “You...”
“I didn’t know, I swear, ok?” Rue started, hyperventilating, sniffling as she wiped a panicked tear from her face. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking, I felt like I was fucking dying, Fez! I was dying! And I--I just--Fez!” she cried as he turned from her, running his hands over his hair, down his face, trying to gather himself, trying to keep himself together. “Fez, I’m sorry! I’m sorry, please, I didn’t think she’d come after anyone, I didn’t think any of it would go this far, please--”
Ashtray’s eyes widened, lost for words.
“RUE!” Fezco roared, his body snapping towards her, pinched fingers silencing her, “Motherf--FUCK! Are you fucking--!” he shoved at the side wall, hitting anything that wasn’t her as anger overwhelmed him. “Are you out of your fucking mind, Rue?!” he couldn’t believe this. How far the girl had really fell to really get herself, to get you, into this kind of situation.
“I know! I know! I know!” Rue sobbed, covering her face as Fez screamed at her. “Fucking god, I know! I messed up!”
“DO YOU?! Cause (y/n)’s paying for your bullshit, your fucking dumb ass, fuck shit! You mother--get the fuck out,” he fumed, running a hand over his mouth, gesturing to the door. He turned from her, he couldn’t even stand to look at her right now.
Rue sniffled, shaking. “Fez...Fez, I’m sorry. I can fix it, I can--”
“GET. THE FUCK,” Fezco explodes. “OUT!”
And Rue has no other choice but to leave, casting a guilty glance to Ashtray as well, who stares her down as if he were ready to pull the trigger on her with the glock he currently suddenly had in his hand.
She quickly left the house, sobbing to herself, hardly able to breathe as she stumbled away from the steps. “I’m sorry...” she hiccupped, turning to the house. “I’m sorry, please...” she whispered. “I can fix this...please, I can...I can fix this.”
Rue made her way away from the house though. Making up her mind to fix this. She can fix this...
- - -
Fezco and Ashtray took their guns, a few mags full of bullets and as much cash they had stashed up, just over 8k, not enough to cover, given the raid that cut their stash short for a while. But, if Laurie wouldn’t take the bribe than getting violent was the next best thing. And Fezco didn’t mind the latter.
So when they arrived at Laurie’s home, weapons tucked into their waist bands, into the inner pockets of their jackets, Fezco parked up, Ashtray loading up his shotgun and snapping the end back into place. “Blow the bitch’s head off if this don’t work out, ight man.”
“That’s the plan, bruh,” Ash said, his young face hardened with his hatred for the sadistic dealer that had stolen his mother from him..
Fezco leaves the car, walking up to the house, fighting the urge to kick the door in and unload every bullet into someone’s fucking skull...”What’chu want, man?” Bruce, Laurie’s partner, large and intimidating in his size, glared down at Fezco.
The young man wasn’t swayed, unblinking eyes peering up at him. “Laurie.”
Bruce frowned at the tone. “You got yo’ shit this month, ain’t you? Unless you got payment already?”
“Laurie, man,” Fezco fought to keep his cool. “Where is she?”
Bruce put his hand on the gun he kept at the waistband of his trunks, “What you gotta say ta her, you can say to me.”
Fezco stood there a while, the two men exchanging violent glares, eyes boring into the other and Fezco itched to grab the gun at his side and let loose. But, he didn’t even know if you were even at this house, he needed to know first. “Ma girl...(y/n), where she at, bruh?”
Bruce smirked, straightening. “Shoulda started with that,” Fezco’s nostrils flared at his words. “You got the money to buy her back, huh?”
“She ain’t belong to nobody, man. And ya’ll fucked wit us with some shit that ain’t got nothin’ to do with her,” Fezco gritted his teeth. “Thought we was cool on this bullshit, bruh.”
“You said she was family,” came Laurie’s soft-spoken voice. She came around the corner, behind Bruce, patting her husband’s arm to back him up, “Didn’t you?”
“She’s a fuckin’ child. And got her ass into some shit. But, if you had a problem wit us, come to me,” Fezco sneered. “You came up and took ma girl--” his nails bite into the palms of his hand, he itched to kill this fucking bitch and her demented ass husband. “Where the fuck is she?”
Laurie calmly stepped in front of Fezco. “Don’t worry, Fez. She’s ok,” she assured him, with dead eyes and a quiet voice. “But, remember, I still need 10 thousand, and another few hundred more for a few packs of morphine, a bit of fentanyl...” as Laurie spoke, Fezco’s heart clenched.
Fezco tosses the bag at her feet, “A lil’ over $8500 in there,” he said. “I don’t give a fuck if it ain’t enough for you, you took my girl, all your fucked bullshit, trashed ma crib, my fucking family--” he huffed harshly to contain himself. “This all you fucking gettin’ from me, and it’s more than you’ll ever get from us again. Where. Is. She. You fucking bitch.”
Bruce took a step towards him at his words, stopped by Laurie, who held a hand up to keep him where he was, entranced by the rage on the young man’s face. “That’s fair, I suppose.”
“Laurie--” Bruce began.
“Come on in, she’s right in here, Fez,” she welcomed him inside.
Fezco followed her inside, Bruce sneering at him, to which Fezco didn’t bother to acknowledge, all he was focused on now was finally getting his hands back on you, rescuing you from this dreaded place.
Laurie stopped in front of a locked room, pulling out a key from her pocket, the lock clicks open. She takes the lock off and opens the heavy door with a light grunt, the dim lighting offering nothing much, but it was light enough to see you in the middle of the room.
Breathing harshly, turned on your side, skin drenched with sweat, “Fez...” you drawl out, constantly. “Fez...Fez...” you cried, silently, delirious as you tossed and turned.
Fezco races into the room, “Ma!” he cries, sliding to his knees at your side, quickly sitting you up, wrapping the thin blanket around your naked frame. “Hey, hey, baby, hey,” he gently slaps your cheek, stroking your flushed face as you shiver in his arms, your eyes unfocused, rolling in the back of your head.
He didn’t like that, taking your face in his hand. “(y/n), (y/n) look at me, look at me, come on, ma. Look at me,” he turned your head to look him in the eye, “Please, baby, can you look at me, you can, you got it, ya see,” you slowly began to regain consciousness, eye sight clearing. “That’s my girl. Look, you’re ok, you’re alright,” he rubs your arms, you’re freezing but you’re sweating terribly.
“Fez...” you whispered.
“I’m right here, ma,” he assured you. Picking you up off the ground, blanket wrapped tight. “I’m right here. I gotchu, come on, we’re going home, baby,” he stands, heading to the door. Casting a long glare to a calmly smiling Laurie, before exiting the room, he couldn’t afford to do any damage, not when you were in this condition.
“I don’t feel...” you spoke, loosely. Head limp against his shoulder, eyes hardly open. “I don’t feel that great, fez...”
“You’re alright, you’re alright, ok?” Fezco went down the hall as fast as he could, keeping the fear out of his voice, the panic from his tone.
Coming up to the front door, where he found Rue standing at the steps. Bruce had a short stack of cash in hand that he didn’t have before, less than 10k clearly, but enough to make him happy enough to move out of the way when Fezco made his way past.
The young girl was crying hard, relief clear in her face as she saw Fezco come around the corner with you in his arms, but the state of you made her heart drop. “(Y/n)...hey, is she alright?” she asked, worriedly. “Fez...” To which Fezco brushed her off, moving past her without as much as a word of acknowledgement.
Ashtray opens passenger door for Fez to place you in, buckling you up as you slump, quickly beginning to pass out once again. “Hey, don’t sleep. Wake up. Mom!” Ashtray startles you awake, leaning over towards you in the backseat as Fezco runs around to the other side to the driver seat. Rue enters the backseat, hesitantly, and stays quiet to not be noticed. She looks at your tired, uncomfortable face in the side mirror, and she cries a bit harder.
Fezco drives off with a final glance to Laurie and her husband waving them off at the step, as if they had just passed by for tea and cookies. The psychopaths'. They waved, knowing he’d be back for blood.
“You’re ok,” he says as he drives. Squeezing your thigh as you shift and turn, “You’re ok, hey, ma. Ma, baby,” he draws your attention. “Hey, there you are, baby.”
You’re lucid and high off whatever the hell must be in your system when you smile at him, “Hi, baby...” you smile at him, before slumping once again.
Terrified what may happen if you fall asleep, he yells. “(Y/n)!” he startles you awake again.
“I’m sorry,” you cry.
“You’re ok, it’s ok, just keep awake for a little alright?”
“Can we go home now...” you wondered, quietly.
“On our way,” Ashtray says. Fezco glances at his little brother in the mirror.
But, they don’t go home. They stop by a friend’s spot, who had offered to let them crash for the next few days, since he was out of town and they were in some shit.
Entering the home, Fezco carries you to the tub, Rue following behind, as Ash locks the door behind him. Filling up the tub as you lean against the porcelain edge, the warm water clearly calming you, the sound of the running pipe...
But before anything, Fezco sticks his fingers down your throat, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” he repeats as he forces you to gag up anything you might have ingested, emptying out your stomach contents, which wasn’t much. You sniffle and cry, hacking up whatever you could get out, leaning against your lover as your stomach churns in discomfort.
He then helps you into the tub, the water climbing to your chest. Cleaning the dirt from the floor you had been laying on, the dried blood and the horrors of the day...
Fezco takes off his sweater and his jeans, left only in his underwear, he steps into the tub behind you, holding you close, “There you go, baby,” he soothingly speaks to you, kissing your forehead as he squeezes you. “You’re alright now. I’ve gotchu, I got you...”
He glances down at the holes in your arm, bruised and crusted with blood, your hands were cut from the glass earlier. He raised one of your hands to his lips as you turned to lean your cheek to his chest, and he began to cry, closing his eyes tightly.
You slept as he wept.
 But he was grateful he had gotten you back.
At least god had given him that much today.
He kissed your hands, your knuckles, your cut skin, the tips of your fingers.
Then, he just held you to him as the faucet dripped to a stop.
- - -
Awakening in a strange bed, in an unfamiliar place, you stood fast and out of the bed, your back slamming against the wall in surprise. You reached for a light switch, but you couldn’t see anything around you, nothing felt familiar at all, you shook in terror as the man you laid next to stirred and sat up in your mad scramble for light.
“No, no, please!” you collapsed in the corner, covering your mouth before the stranger could even say a thing, he had stood too fast for you to think nothing else but soon violence brought against you.
“Ma! It’s me! It’s me,” Fezco found a light switch, the dark, unfamiliar room illuminating, to reveal himself to you. “It’s just me.”
You released a heavy sigh of relief, that visible took a weight off your chest. But, it also made your tears run fast, the days having been too much for you, the thought alone had brought you down to your knees and crushed you before you even knew it wasn’t true.
Fezco quickly went around the bed, coming to sit in front of you, to which you fell into his arms, quickly wrapping your arms around him. “I’m sorry,” you sobbed. “I thought someone--I didn’t know if I--” Fezco interrupts you with a simple stroke of her cheeks, running his thumbs across your cheekbones to soothe your thoughts and wipe your tears.
“I know, I know,” he whispered to her, his voice cracks as his control leaves him. It pains him too much to see you break like this. “But, what happened, huh? You’re here with me. They didn’t get you, baby. They didn’t. You’re here with me.”
“You saved me,” you hiccupped, holding him desperately, just wishing to be close enough to feel nothing but him. “I thought I’d never see you again. That I’d never see Ash.”
“Impossible, ma,” he said, pressing his lips to your forehead. “Can neva get rid of me, you know that. And Ash on his own lil’ demon time, he ain’t goin’ nowhere.”
You release a watery laugh at his joke, sniffling harshly as Fezco rocks you in his arms, safely keeping you wrapped up in his embrace.
There’s a knock at the door, they raise their heads, Ashtray entering the room, silently. He stands there for a second as he shuts the door behind him, he shifts from one foot to the other, eyes glancing around, a frown on his face.
“Ash?” you whispered, looking to the boy. Fez knew though, what was wrong.
As Ashtray looked at you finally, his frown deepened, but it wasn’t a frown, just a miserable look he couldn’t hide anymore, a joy that trailed to sadness and brought tears to his usually hardened eyes. And then suddenly, Ash looked like the little boy that you had always allowed him to be, and that he would’ve never been again if you had gone.
“Ash...” you spoke, softly. Reaching out to him, you pulled him by the wrist, into your arms this time. And he broke like glass.
Like a dam, his tears flow like a downpour. An unwilling sob escapes him as he sniffles and cries into your shoulder, embracing you as he hoped he’d be able to every time he prayed to God for your safe return.
You kissed Ashtray’s forehead, stroking his face, his hair, and you squeezed him like no one ever had. You breathe deeply, a shiver leaves you as you fight your own tears, “Oh, my sweet boy,” you hold him close, as he buries himself to you. “I love you, I love you.” You say it fast, and you say it with all the love you have, like it could be your last time.
Complete. Is how their family felt again. Fezco engulfed himself in the feeling. The thought of losing you, the absence of you, it would’ve destroyed them.
Fezco leans his forehead to his brother’s, knocking heads gently, the boy peering up to him as he sniffles into your neck. The big brother tenderly rubs his little brother’s head, he kisses his soon wife and let them both fall into his chest, into the side of the bed.
And like the family they were, they collapsed against one another, holding each other tight.
Everything’s ok.

Doll Face | Fezco Euphoria
Tumblr media Tumblr media
part 1 part 2
Pairing: Fezco x Latina!Mouse sister! reader
Summary: Mouse's sister was an excellent girl, a good student even, until life happened and she had to leave every dream behind. A particular friend was left behind too in the process. Years later, they meet again, but they aren't the kids they once used to be.
Warnings: 1.8+ words, mouse sister, drug life, language, non-desired-sexual situations, forced sexual labor, exploitation of teenage girl, abuse, abusive household
a/n: Ok, Spanish is my first language and English second, so I apologize for any grammar mistakes. Second, I tried to research if Mouse was of any latin american origin, but I couldn't find any information. The actor is referred to as Lating King, so I'll use that as a reference. Thank you for reading! Hope you like it. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated <3
Tumblr media
It had always seemed funny to you. The reaction on people’s faces when they came to know whose sister you were. At first, you were proud, sort of. You knew your family didn’t dedicate themselves to an average 9-5 job pretty early. But that never stopped you from feeling happy by having them around you most of the time.
It was like a dream at first. You would come from school, and your mama would always be beside your papá, talking about something you were too young to understand thereupon. Your big brother was known to be in his room with his friends, and you weren't allowed inside.
That didn’t bother you. It never did because at the end of the day, you would all sit down to dinner together and it felt amazing having to see people gather random things to use as chairs because there were just too many people.
It all just seemed like a big diverse family. You loved it.
You were a straight-A little girl type, and papá always made sure to share with you that you would be the first of the family to ever go to college. You were going to become the pride of your family.
Teachers loved you and never had any problem when you asked for extra help. Even your classmates were always helpful and nice towards you, especially one guy that you had math class with.
Fezco
He was one of the nice weird kids. He didn’t talk with anyone much, but you like to believe you were his exception.
It all started due to you not noticing the exercises at the back of the page at that time, you were sitting in front of him, and he noticed this.
“Uhm, hey, sorry, but I think your page is kinda…blank” he drew your attention by tapping your shoulder softly.
“What do you mean?” you stared at him, confused.
“Well, yeah. The back side is blank.” he furrowed his eyebrows, trying to make you understand
“There was a backside!”
“There’s always a back part in math, little girl.”
“Shit- Sorry!” you covered your mouth, embarrassed.
“What are you sorry for?” he looked at you confused.
“I- well… I cursed. Ladies aren’t supposed to curse.”
“Why?”
“It’s unethical.”
“Huh,” he inhaled, “Well, the teacher is about to collect the homework, so if you want to copy from mine, go ahead.”
“You sure?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Ok, thank you so much, Fezco.”
“Call me Fez.”
“Fezco.”
“Alright.”
After that, it seemed like he had chosen you to be his partner in any class you had together. From that moment on, he would always whisper the answers in your ear, making sure you always had the same as his.
He would even grab your homework and correct your mistakes. It seemed so easy for him that you started to believe he was a genius.
“You are one smart mathematician,” you murmured once as you lay beside him on one of the school’s rooftops.
“A what?” he moved his head to the side, trying to get a glimpse of you.
“Mathematician, you will be a great one day.’
“Oh, what’s that?”
“Oh, you know…a person who likes and is good at math.”
“Hell yeah. I'll be one, doll face.”
“Fezco! No cursing.” you giggled.
“Oh, yeah. Sorry.”
You smiled, looking at each other barely, holding in your giggles.
And then everything went to shit.
“Mami! Papi! I’m home!” you entered your home with your cheeks painted and a big smile, hoping to see your parents in the living room, but only your brother was to be found with a bottle in hand.
“Hey, have you seen-”
“They ain't coming back home, little one.” he took one sip.
“What do you mean? They went on a field trip and didn’t take me?”
“Yeah. But more like they went to heaven.”
“Heaven? But that's a few hours away,” you tried, you really tried to be oblivious. Act stupid, “I read it on a map!”
“You can’t be that dumb,” he chuckled sourly, “Mom and pops are dead, and you know that.”
You stayed quiet. Looking at him and trying to keep your tears inside, hoping to be a cruel joke from your big brother.
“Now, I need you to understand something else,” he stood up, walking towards you, completely towering over you, “No more school for you.”
“What?” you whispered.
“I don’t need some governmental shit to be put inside your brain when you could be doing something more beneficial for me, us.”
“But I don’t wanna leave school,” you whined sweetly, “Papi said I would go to college!”
“Pops said it, not me,” he grabbed you from your low ponytail without pulling, twisting it around his fingers. “You’r ‘bout to learn about the family business, little sissy.”
And just like that, your life went spiraling into a deep pile of shit and more shit.
It started simple, nothing too hardcore. You prepared his pre-rolled, and he said your petite fingers were perfect for the job. Then, you started addressing him as “Mouse” since he has some respect to show or something along the lines.
And you did that for quite a long time, being grateful to keep some sort of young teen childhood innocence. Until one of his friends mentioned something about your changing body.
“Yo! Mouse! Your sister si que tiene unas lindas tetas eh! ¿A cuanto por una sobada?” they all laughed, but you knew your brother had a realization. (Your sister has a nice pair of tits, how much for a touch?)
His little sissy wasn't so little anymore. And lucky you, the neighborhood home strip club was taking applications, and they loved young girls.
“Pero mira que lindo lugar te conseguí hermanita, ¿a que no?" he laughed, licking his lips at the sight of the bare chest and intimate parts by the women dancing or waitress. (Look what a nice place I got you lil’ sissy, pretty isn't it?)
“I don’t want to be here, Mouse,” you said with a scared tone, “I don’t feel comfortable.”
“What you mean!?”
“I want to leave now, Mouse,” you said, trying to sound stern and covering your eyes to bring the different color neon lights.
If you had not, you would have seen him before he pulled you by your hair.
“Mouse!”
“Shut your fucking mouth and listen!” he spoke in your ear, spitting saliva, “You ain't eating nor coming home hasta que me traigas minimo mil, got it?” you nodded. (until you bring me at least a thousand)
“But how am I going to get you that?”
“Well, why else would I bring you here!? You got the place and a job start dancing!”
You looked at all sides, looking for some type of explanation or help, but all you could notice were a few pity looks from the women already working there.
“But…I am just fifteen, and I do not have any clothes like those,” you tried hard to convince him to take you away from there.
“C’mon I was thirteen when I banged my first chick, besides you got underwear underneath that, right?”
You nodded, unsure.
“Then don’t come back until you have that money in hand we clear.”
“Como el agua,” you murmured (like the water)
It took you some time to gather the money. It took you long enough to gather the courage to walk out of the dressing room in your underwear. Thankfully, some women there pitied you and gave you some money so you didn't have to socialize too much with the customers.
That day you became aware of how disgusting looks from men and women could be. But you became happy when at the end of the third day, the money had been collected. Until you were about to leave, the place and the owner took half of your money.
That’s when you knew that they take half of the tips, more if you get opinionated about it.
You had to work for it, they said. To start showing some more for some extra bills. To hide it somewhere, they won't see it.
Took you some time, but you felt elated when you knocked on that worn-down door you loved.
“Here’s the money,” you placed it in his hand with a smile, and he threw 100 back at you.
“Go get some work clothes and your food for a month.”
“What?”
“How old are you?”
“Fifteen”
“At seventeen, you start paying rent.”
Then, you were his investment. His friends and co-workers wanted to see you dance. They wanted to see you shake your chest and back for them. They wanted to touch you. And if you objected? A dislocated shoulder, 3 broken ribs, and black-eyed followed you for a month, and you objected…a lot.
But you learned how to handle it. You had to and became a pro. The favorite one in the club, and the best one of Mouse’s girls, even if you had to do some things you despised.
At least you were treated better.
And then, you saw him.
You were at home, doing some dances for Mouse’s people along with two other girls.
You had numbed yourself and your emotions. You had created an alter ego and a safe place in your mind where you could wander off whenever you were working. Funny enough, you had come to like dancing with a pole. You found it artistic, just not the other things it came with.
You were concentrated on grinding on top of the man beneath you, concentrated in your safe place. Ignoring his wandering hands beneath your work clothes, his groping. But some voices distracted you. You switched positions so you could stare at the men coming in.
It was a redhead, and he seemed…cute.
You could hear them going and on about quantities and deadlines, and you better pay me up before blah, blah, and more blah.
“You know what, I liked you, carrot boy,” Mouse smiled, rubbing his palms against each other, “Let me gift you with one of my best girls. Sweetcheecks, com’ere!”
“She’s busy, my man,” said the man underneath, simulating pounding into you while you kept grinding him with him groping your chest.
“Not‘nymore, fuck off,” he grabbed him by the arm and pulled the redhead to your seat, “Treat him good, will ya?”
You nodded and started doing your job. It was actually easy to please a man. Just some elaborate touching and grinding, especially grinding, and to let them touch whenever and wherever.
You could feel him looking at you, his eyes locked. Almost making you feel embarrassed by what you were doing. He seemed like the gentle type. He even kept his hands to himself. You could be wrong, and when you felt his hand grabbing you by your neck and taking you near his lips. You knew you were wrong. He needed some time before he felt full of himself and started groping you like the others.
“Doll face, is that you?”

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Here's part 3 (or chapter 4) of my fic Not So Normal. After this installment, I'm planning on uploading the series to ao3 as well as Tumblr so stay tuned for that link to drop!
Prologue | Part 1 | Part 2 | Masterpost
Not So Normal pt3
TW: vague, brief descriptions/mentions of violence, vivisection, and panic attacks
It had been a total accident. His parents were supposed to be halfway to a science convention by then. When Danny floated through the floor and into the kitchen he hadn't expected his mothe- he hadn't expected Maddie to be there. He should have expected the gun in his face a moment later, but definitely not the hole she'd put in his chest before he'd even gotten a word out. It happened so fast. The shouting and shooting, the thermos…
He'd come to on the exam table in the lab, wrists bound, bright light in his face. He could barely make out the figures just beyond it, though he knew exactly who they were. He'd begged and screamed and cried, anything to get them to listen. Jack had gotten Maddie to take a breath and listen for a moment as Danny tried to get it through to them that he was their son!
"I'm Danny, it's me! I'm still me! Please, mom, you've gotta believe me!"
They believed him. He never thought that would make it worse. They became curious in a way they weren't before. Less angry about the dastardly spook they thought had been impersonating their son and more eager to tear into the science experiment they believed legally belonged to them. They called him an abomination that was no longer human and gripped their scalpels with cruel excitement on their faces. He remembered screaming for hours.
Only Clockwork would be able to say how long he'd been like that. All Danny had known was that he was tired and weak, his throat was dry and his entire body ached. He'd been in human form for the whole thing, and though it was much more painful that way, it kept them from getting to his core. He would only ever be grateful for that.
Eventually it was Jazz that had released him. Jack and Maddie had stepped out for dinner believing his restraints would hold his weakened body. They'd been right, he couldn't have escaped on his own, but Jazz had snuck down to the basement right after they'd left and shoved him through the portal, telling him not to come back, it wasn't safe, but to contact her when he knew he was okay. She'd locked the portal's blast door behind him. There, drifting in the vast green of the Realms, he cried and cried until he felt himself fall through a natural portal.
He'd dropped into a dirty alley with a painful thud and couldn't suppress the cry of pain as rocks and dirt pressed into his wounds.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" He'd heard a man call. Gentle but firm hands helped him sit up, his own hands busy keeping his chest closed and smearing the blood and dirt that already covered him. The man gasped in horror as Danny begged for help.
Turns out the man that found him was none other than Bruce Wayne. He was alright as far as billionaires went; far more sane than Vlad at the very least. When Bruce asked what happened all he could get out was that his parents hurt him and he never wanted to go back there. Bruce had decided then and there that he would keep Danny. They'd taken pictures of the damage for court, thinking they would need to build a solid case since Danny was healing up well. He even called in a few favors with his lawyers. The Fentons, though, oh they helped plenty.
"Dr's Fenton, how do you plead?"
"Guilty! That thing is a monster! It belongs to us! That's our experiment! It's fooled you all! You'll see, just wait!"
Several of the officers around the courtroom had to restrain them as Maddie screamed and flailed. Jack was fuming. But much more docile than his wife. The pictures and testimonies had been enough to prove them guilty of child abuse and neglect, but their outburst all but sealed their fate as unsuitable parents. That day, Danny found a new place to call home, and a new family he was ready to die for.
~~•○•~~
Today was the day! Er- night! Tonight was the night! Danny was finally going out on patrol with the bat clan officially. After the events at the warehouse and his family finally learning about his past as Fenton and Phantom, Bruce has asked Danny if he was interested in patrolling with them. Damian had vouched for Danny, doling out thinly veiled compliments about his fighting prowess. Bruce decidedly kept that info to himself. The enthusiasm with which Danny responded had Bruce regretting asking, but it was clear that Danny had been itching to get out there and fight some crime.
Due to his experience, he'd been paired with Nightwing for the night. Dick had cheered at finally getting some one on one time with Danny, pulling him in for the kind of suffocating hug only an older sibling could provide. They had an absolute blast that night. Dick would show off, doing fun, dangerous looking flips off of buildings before firing his grappling hook at the last minute. And Danny could keep up, even as he swung through the air. It made Dick cackle in delight. Quietly of course, they were very stealthy, thank you! (Dick had to be shushed over the coms several times, and Danny was able to keep his laughter to a quiet snicker.)
They'd been on a roll with Danny being able to cover so much ground from so high up. In just the first few hours they'd stopped at least three muggings, recovered a stolen car, and prevented a bank robbery before it had even begun. Hearing his father commend him for a job well done over the coms made him glow with pride. He'd never had so much fun on patrol before. It made his core vibrate with glee.
"Danny, are you… purring?" Dick asked. He heard the others gasp over the coms.
"No! No, now way, I'm absolutely not purring! What gave you that idea?"
"He purrs?" Tim guffawed over the line, and Steph began to giggle uncontrollably.
"Absolutely not!"
"I've found he purrs when he's incredibly happy or content, just like a cat," Damian explained. He could hear the smirk in his voice.
"Aaawwwwwww! I'm happy spending time with you too, baby ghost!" Danny was smothered with another hug.
"Betrayed. By my baby brother! I cannot believe this."
"Settle down everyone! We're still on the clock," came the gruff, authoritative voice of Batman.
Sobering up from the moment, Danny and Dick went back to patrolling. It was starting to get quiet in their area, the others reporting incidents in their own sections of the city. It gave them time to grab a snack before something new popped up.
"You seem to be enjoying yourself," Nightwing began, taking a bite of his granola bar.
"I am," Danny replied. His snack of choice was a pack of fruit snacks. "Patrolling in my old haunt was exhausting. It was just me and my two friends out there most nights. Fight after fight after fight… I have a sense that lets me detect the presence of other ghosts, and it seemed to go off nonstop there. I was lucky if I got eight hours of sleep in a week, let alone a night." He paused to pop a few snacks in his mouth. Dick was quietly attentive, munching on his granola bar.
"Here, I know I've got someone to watch my back. And it helps that humans are much easier to handle non-violently than ghosts."
"I'm glad you like it here, Phantom," Nightwing said with a smile, using his codename. Danny smiled back, getting ready to toss a few fruit snacks into his mouth but stopping short when a chill unfurled on his chest. He gasped, dropping his snacks. Seemed like their break was over.
"What's wrong?" Nightwing asked alert now, eyes flicking around the area to perceive the threat.
"Get behind me."
"What?"
"Just do it! You're not equipped to fight ghosts!"
At the word ghost, the coms erupted in chaos. Danny shouted at them to stay clear, he could handle it just fine, it was probably a small fry anyways. Dick followed his directions, getting behind Danny but not cowering. No, his big brother was covering his back. Sure enough, about a minute later, three large glowing vultures rose over the edge of the rooftop.
"Awe great, it's the birds with the hats! What do you want?"
"Good evening to you, too, King Phantom," one of them snickered. Danny just scowled.
"Plasmius sent us to, and I quote, 'knock some sense inta ya.'" another one said, making air quotations with the tips of his wings.
"I'll have you know I've got a thermos here with your names on it and no access to a portal. How does an extended stay in Soupland sound?" Danny waved his thermos threateningly at them, a sarcastic smile on his face.
"How does taking your little friend here hostage sound?" The last one threatened, perching his claws on Dick's shoulders. Faster than Dick could blink, Danny had spun around, ice shooting out to freeze the two other two birds, thermos pointed like a gun, while clawed fingers wrapped around the third one's neck. The bird squawked in fear.
Frost swirled dangerously around his aura, and Dick swallowed nervously in the face of its intensity. Danny's eyes were glowing a furious, toxic green, and even though the glare wasn't directed at him, he could feel its anger. Dick had seen him like this at the warehouse, sure. But now, this close, Dick truly understood the sheer power that Danny possessed, the majesty that was this eldritch creature in front of him. Somehow, all he felt in his presence was safe.
Danny growled at the ghost clutching at Nightwing, squeezing until the talons loosened.
"Why did Vlad send you?" He questioned. Absently, Dick thought he reminded him of Bruce in interrogation mode.
"He's mad some other guy adopted you or something, the same usual psycho spiel!"
"What's he planning!"
"I don't know! He was going on about how you're supposed to be his son and was throwing things. He wanted us to come rough up you and your new family. He's real mad, but that's all we know, I swear!"
It was silent for a moment while Danny absorbed the information. He regarded the vulture with cold eyes but didn't release him. He should have known Vlad would try something like this. His adoption wasn't super public but it wasn't like it was a secret either, so he'd been bound to find out. Most ghosts respected him too much as King now to threaten anyone Danny considered family, but Vlad always had his ways. He'd have to take care of it without getting the others involved.
Making up his mind, he hit the button on his thermos, sucking up the frozen ghosts and the ice along with it before swinging it around and shoving the end on the last one's beak, trapping him too. Dick sagged in relief once they were gone and Danny made a fuss about checking his shoulders to make sure he wasn't injured.
"Phantom, what was that about!" Bruce's voice was strained over the coms, likely because he didn't know what to do or how to help. Damn, Danny had forgotten that the others could hear them. At the time it had been a brilliant idea; Danny infusing the coms with ectoplasm meant that not only could Danny use them without causing interference, but they were now some of the most secure lines of communication on earth. There went his plan to keep his family out of it.
"Just some unfinished business," Danny replied, trying to sound unbothered. "The hostiles have been apprehended, and there are no injuries. We're good to continue patrolling."
Dick eyed him skeptically.
"Absolutely not. Turn in for the night you two, we'll debrief at the end of patrol," was Batman's stern order.
"No way, more are bound to show up-"
"Which is why you'll need to teach us how to fight them. We'll need you level headed for that, Phantom. Head back to the cave. We'll talk later."
Danny pouted. He could be level headed and still finish patrol! He could! At least that's what he told himself while he clenched his fists to stop them from shaking. Dick put a comforting hand on his shoulder. It was cold.
"Why don't we have Agent A make us some hot chocolate and we'll tuck in for a movie while we wait for the others," he suggested. The ghost searched his brother's face, seeing concern even underneath his domino.
"Fine," Danny conceded. "But I get to pick the movie."
By the time the others had gotten back to the manor Danny was curled up on the couch, chilly toes tucked underneath his brother's thigh and hands curled around a warm mug while the credits for James Cameron's Avatar rolled on the TV. Damian reached over the back of the couch and gave Danny's shoulder a squeeze, pulling him from his post hot coco daze. They had a meeting to get started.
~~•○•~~
As everyone settled around the meeting table in the cave, Damian made a beeline to the seat next to Danny. He would never admit to anyone that he'd been jealous that Danny had been sent out with Richard. Logically, he knew there was no real reason for Brother to come with Father and himself. He wasn't getting dethroned as Robin, and he had enough experience that Father could trust Danny out with a patrol partner. Still, he'd wanted to be there for his first experience patrolling as a member of the family. After the events of the evening, he wished even more he'd been there.
He'd heard of this Vlad before, and never in a good light, though he knew nothing more than that Danny did not like him. It was clear he'd been a source of great stress before he had come to them. Damian was frustrated that he couldn't be there to put their assailants in their place. It looked as though Danny had never mentioned Vlad to anyone else. Damian didn't know if he was proud or concerned by that. Instead of voicing his thoughts on the matter, he leaned in close to Danny's ear to whisper.
"Are you sure we're not blood related?" Damian asked with a smirk.
"What?" Danny whispered back, confused.
"When you were questioning the, what were they, birds? You sounded like Father." Danny turned to blink at him, trying to process the comment. "It is a compliment, Danny."
"Oh!"
"What are you two whispering about?" Tim asked from across the table. He'd leaned one hand onto the table with the other on his hip like an amused mother who'd caught her children conspiring.
"It's none of your concern, Drake." Danny chuckled and shrugged at him, miming zipping his lips shut.
"Alright, mission report, Phantom," Bruce interrupted, approaching the table and throwing a folder down. "What was tonight about?" Danny took a deep breath to keep himself calm.
"An old thorn in my side. The vulture ghosts were sent by a guy who used to bother me back in Amity Park. Had this crazy idea that if he killed my family, he could have me all to himself as some little heir to his evil empire. Seems he heard about my adoption."
Bruce frowned deep at that. So he was a threat to be concerned about. Good thing he'd done some research on ghost weapons then. He tapped the folder.
"If he'll be sending more ghosts to attack us, then we need to know how to fight them. I've taken the liberty of doing some research on weaponry. DalvCo is willing-"
"Absolutely not!" Danny stopped him short. Bruce barely stopped himself from groaning. It had been a long night, and now was not the time to be argumentative.
"We need weapons. This isn't up for discussion."
"That wasn't a request, Bruce. As High King of the Infinite Realms, I forbid my family from doing business with DalvCo and, subsequently, Vlad 'Plasmius' Masters, who owns it." Bruce's face contorted with understanding after his words. The others were quick to catch on. He heard Dick grumble about how the name wasn't even clever, and it made Danny smirk.
"Besides," Danny continued, a sly grin overtaking his face. His teeth were a little too sharp in his mouth. "I have a much better plan. Tim, how do you feel about mad science?"
Tim's eyes gleamed, and his grin, teeth less sharp and far more human, matched Danny's.
"You can build weapons?" Damian guessed next to him. Danny glowed with pride.
"Of course I can, I'm Daniel Fenton-Wayne, after all!"
~~•○•~~
Meanwhile, in Soupland
"I told you we shoulda just told him what was up, then got outta there."
"How was I supposed to know he was gonna ice you two?"
"Oh, please, the ice was tame. He souped us! He said he doesn't have access to a portal and he souped us!"
"That's what we get for threatening someone close to our King."
"Exactly, we shouldn'ta done that. We're too old for this!"
"I may be old, but I'm not deaf. Stop shouting in my ear, loud mouth!"
"Well, then get your wing outta my face, flabby feathers!"
"In case you haven't noticed, IT'S FROZEN!"
"We coulda been on a tropical southern island by now if it weren't for that Plasmius jerk pitting us against Phantom."
"Yeah!"
"Yeeaah!"
"We should work for the King from now on."

Stephen Hyde x Reader
A/n: Sorry that this is a lot of 'blank' said whilst doing 'blank' but I'm not used to doing mostly dialogue but I really wanted to try to get the characters across well, as always any criticism or requests are needed lol. Also I feel like this is obvious but I still want to state that this fic is purely because I love the character and I do not in anyway support the actor.
Summary: Your desperate to find a date for the school dance but Hyde's desperate that you don't
Warnings: Kissing, making out, smoking, drinking, mentions of being drunk and getting high, kinda oblivious Y/n

"What's wrong with you?" Hyde asked, taking my attention away from the beer can I was staring at.
"Hm? Nothing." I smiled at him and lent back into the sofa.
Kelso was sat next to me, his arms lying across the back of the sofa and behind my head.
Jackie was sat on Kelso's lap, playing with his hair with a love sick smile on her face despite him looking straight past her at the tv.
Donna was sat by the door. Eric stood behind her, wandering back and forth casually before leaning on the back of her chair again.
Fez was sat on the floor leaning his back on the sofa, sat between mine and Kelso's legs. He was happily eating some candy I picked up for him before I got here whilst watching the TV as well.
As per usual Hyde was sat on his chair, he was leaning forward with a beer can in one hand and rolling paper in the other.
"You have been unusually quiet." Donna said giving me a look.
"Wow am I really that loud usually that when I'm quiet for five minutes everyone thinks somethings wrong?" I asked with a chuckle, fiddling with the can I was holding.
"Yes." Eric said with a laugh "now what's wrong."
"No it's stupid don't worry." I said, shaking my head.
"Yeah I was expecting it to be stupid before I asked, I braced myself before." Hyde said with a smile, rolling a blunt on the table in front of him.
"Y/n just tell us so they will stop talking on the TV!" Fez said whilst shaking his head, giving me an annoyed look before turning his attention back to the cartoon.
"Fine. No one's asked me to the school formal yet, I guess I'm just a little bummed out about it." I chuckled slightly at how pathetic I sounded and glanced around at my friends.
Hyde laughed and shook his head "Yeah you were right that was stupid."
"Awe Y/n I'll go to the dance with you." Kelso said putting his arm around my shoulders with a grin "Your smoking hot, we'd photograph well together" He winked at me before Jackie hit him hard in the chest.
"Michael! We're going to the dance together!" Jackie looked at him with offence and stormed out of the room.
"Well she never asked me." Kelso said, rolling his eyes and following after her. "Jackie wait! Your smoking hot too!"
"Dumbass." Eric said with a laugh, taking a seat next to me on the sofa as he watched his friend run out of the room.
"Don't worry about the dance Y/n I'll be your date!" Fez said smiling up at me from the floor.
"It's okay Fez I want to go with someone who's into me not just a friend." I smiled back at him, taking a handful of candy to pick at myself.
I glanced over at Hyde, he was too focused in beginning to roll another blunt that it didn't even seem like he was listening anymore.
It's not like I liked Hyde or anything, we've been friends for as long as I can remember.
But over the last couple years we'd gotten so close that sometimes I'd convince myself that maybe there was sometime else there.
I'd never risk our friendship like that though.
"What about that Austin guy that you've been seeing?" Donna asked, quirking an eyebrow at me.
Hydes head shot up at that, suddenly interested enough in the conversation to take his sunglasses off.
"Austin? As in football player Austin Jones? Since when the hell have you been seeing that jerk?" He asked, putting down the perfectly put together blunt he'd just finished.
"We've hung out a couple times, I had to tutor him for extra credit in history and we just started going out to get food after." I shrugged at him and gave him a confused look as he pretended to be sick.
"That guys a fucking loser, he's head of the anti-drugs club at school, why the hell would you wanna be seen with him?" He said shaking his head.
"He's nice, and he needs to be in that club to be the head footballer." I looked back over to Donna, shrugging Hydes over reactions off "I thought he liked me but he still didn't ask."
"Well why don't you ask him? Why should you have to wait around for him to pluck up the courage to talk to you, go ask him yourself." She said leaning forward, obviously cutting herself off from beginning another feminist rant.
I bit my lip and thought for a second before nodding "You know what, I think I will." I smiled at her and lent over to give her a high five.
She nodded enthusiastically, obviously proud of herself "Hell yeah."
"Yeah whatever, we gonna light these baby's or what?" Hyde asked with a small smile, holding up the two blunts to the group.
~~~
I opened the door to Eric's basement to be met with Donna Kelso and Jackie all sat on the floor in front of the sofa watching some new stupid show, Donna's face lighting up seeing me since she wasn't alone with the two of them being grossly 'in love' anymore.
I threw myself down onto the couch behind them with a sigh, causing the three of them to turn around.
"What's wrong?" Donna asked, patting my back.
"Austin said he doesn't want to go to the dance with me, apparently he doesn't like me like that." I frowned at her and sat up with another sigh.
I knew I was being dramatic, he was just a guy after all and I wasn't really that into him but it still stung.
"Awe I'm sorry." Donna said, giving me a pitied look.
"Now I'm going to have to be the only one alone. You'll have Eric, you two have each other, Fez will probably show up with some weird girl he finds ten minutes before the dance starts and Hyde has the love of his life, Mary Jane." Donna laughed slightly and shook her head at me as I continued rambling "I thought he really liked me, I mean we've made out in his car like ten times."
Jackie left Kelso's side to sit next to me and give me a hug "Oh Y/n I'm sorry, men are pigs."
"Hey what about me!" Kelso asked defensively.
"Pigs!" She responded kicking him lightly. "He was too popular for you anyway. You'd do better with a more indie guy like Hyde or that guy who sits in the back of the library at lunch and rips the poetry books. Not a jock."
"Thanks Jackie, you always find just the right things to say." I said, causing Donna to snort and Jackie to beam, the sarcasm flying straight over her head.
"I know what might've happened!" Kelso said with a smile, looking proud of himself.
"Oh this'll be good." Donna said with a smile, getting up to sit in Hydes chair.
"Well after you guys left last night me and Hyde were drinking and Eric drove us to Fatso burger where we bumped into Austin and Hyde like totally threatened him." Kelso said, smiling as the rest of us looked at him with a mixed expression of shock and confusion.
"What do you mean threatened him?" I questioned him but before he could respond the door opened as Hyde walked in.
"Hey guys what's happening?"
"You threatened Austin?" I asked standing up.
"What no?" He looked caught out, obviously lying, his voice crack just highlighting the fact.
"Kelso just said you did last night, what did you say?"
"Y/n I can't even remember I was so drunk last night, I didn't even get to school until after lunch I was so hungover."
Kelso jumped up with a smile "I remember! You said that if he even thought about going to the dance with Y/n you would run him over in the Visa Cruiser and score a touch down with his decapitated head."
"Ew." Jackie said with a disgusted look.
Donna chuckled slightly before shaking her head. "Dark dude."
Hyde punched Kelso in the arm before pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance.
"Ow dude what the hell!"
"Hyde why would you do that you knew I wanted to go to the dance with him, is this some kind of stupid prank or something because it's not funny. I'm upset." I said, furrowing my eyebrows as I frowned at him.
"Y/n can we talk about this somewhere else , away from these bozos."
Is nodded and followed him out to Eric's driveway, sitting on the hood of the Vista Cruiser as Hyde stood in front of me.
"Y/n he's just not a good fit for you!" He said running his hands through his hair with a sigh.
"Why not! He's a nice enough guy, he's smart and athletic. As Jackie keeps mentioning he's popular and attractive why wouldn't I like him." I shook my head at him, not even trying to withhold my annoyance.
"Y/n his favourite band is Boney M, you love Zeppelin and Aerosmith. He's anti drugs and you smoke at least three blunts a week. He likes sports and you've never sat through a game in your life, he won't even take you out on an actual date you just grab food and make out in his car. You deserve better than that."
"Well I haven't got anyone better than that, and I liked him. Plus that wasn't your decision to make!" I crossed my arms in annoyance, watching him pace back and forth.
"I'm your best friend I was just looking out for you, you deserve someone you have something in common with."
"Like who!"
"Like me! I wanted to ask you! Goddamnit." He looked away from me, anxiously and awkwardly shifting around.
"You wanted to ask me? Stephen I appreciate it but I wanted to go with a date not a friend." I stood up next to him, pacing my hands on his shoulders to still his movements.
"God how oblivious are you?"
"What do you mean-"
Before I could finish the thought his lips were on mine.
He kissed me softly, bringing his hand up to the side of my face.
Once the shock of the action cleared I kissed back, going up onto my toes to reach his height with a smile.
He pulled back after a second, keeping the closeness between us and his hand on my face.
"Oh. I get what you mean now." I said, feeling my cheeks get hot as I laughed lightly.
"Oh really?" He chuckled and smiled down at me "Will you go to the dance with me."
"Yes you idiot I will. Although we should probably go on a proper date first, if that's what you want of course."
"Yeah, I'll take you on a nice date somewhere. We can do this properly, take it slow and all." He said with a shy smile.
I nodded and we stood in silence for a second before we both lent into each other again, wanting to kiss.
He lent down to deepen the kiss and I smiled against his lips as he shifted me back to lean against the Vista Cruiser.
"Um sorry to interrupt guys but I have some many questions about what ever this is. And why the hell are you doing it on my car! Get off!" Eric yelled from behind us, forcing us to pull away from each other with smiles plastered across both of our faces.
"Sorry Eric."
I stare at my hair in the mirror. My roots are puffy but I refuse to take down my twists. Deal with my natural hair is just not in my schedule right now. Where the hell is my moose? I turn around and find Fez staring at me.
“May I help you?”
“What? I can’t stare?” His eyes darken as we make eye contact. My cheeks warm up and I turn around to look over the bathroom counter.
“Stop that. Have you seen my moose? I could’ve sworn I left it by the sink.”
He walks into the bathroom and his chest meets my back. His arms wrap around mine and his cheek kisses mine, completely immobilizing me.
“You know, you look really beautiful in this light.”
“Fez, please.” I avoid all eye contact with him and focus my attention to the ceiling. Some of the little popcorn pieces are missing. There’s a spider web in the corner that I refuse to go near because no. He places little kisses on my neck and I squirm in his hold. The sensation makes me ticklish until he starts sucking on that one spot. My thighs squeeze together and I nudge him away.
“I have to be in campus in 20 minutes.”
“That’s fine. I only need 10.” His kisses not seizing, but I feel a grin pull at the corner of his lips.
“You’re insatiable. I only have one class today and it’s 50 minutes. I’ll be back before you know it. Now, if you don’t know where my moose is, could you at least hand me my hat behind you?”
He lets out a dramatic sigh before letting me go and turning around to get my hat off of the door hook.
“Fine. What time did you say to pick you up?”
“Be outside by 12:50, but I probably won’t be out until around 1 because my professor has a tendency to continue talking past our class time like we don’t have lives.”
I move around him and go into the living room to look for my bag with no luck. I look on the couch, by the couch, on the chair, and by the door. Nothing.
“Where the fuck is my-” I turn around and see Fez standing right behind me with my bag in his hand.
“Bathroom. You brought it in there when you were about to do your hair.” I take it from him and quickly peck him on the lips.
“Angel, baby. You’ve got wings. I love you.” I turn around but his hand finds my waist and turns me so we’re again face to face.
“Last time I checked, you have class at 12 and it’s,” He looks at the clock on the wall, “11:45.”
“And?”
“It takes 5 minutes to get to your class. I want a real kiss.”
“Fezzy.” He shushes me by connecting our lips. I put up little to no resistance. I smile into the kiss as I subconsciously pull him closer.
“God, do you guys do anything else besides kiss?” I separate from Fez’s lips and begrudgingly leave his hold to walk over to Ash.
“Aww, I’m sorry Ash. I’ll give you one too.” I lean down to kiss his cheek and pull him into a hug.
“Keep out of trouble while I’m gone, yeah? I’m tired of cleaning blood off of the floors.”
A ghost of a smile wipes across his face as I look him in the eyes and wait for confirmation.
“No promises.” I roll my eyes and hug him again before heading out the door with Fez.
NEW Chapter of Christmas with the Formans
CHAPTER TITLE: Christmas Eve Eve Parade
Story Summary: Tired of the hustle and bustle of the holidays and now that all of the kids are grown and doing their own thing for the holidays, Red Forman convinces his wife, Kitty, that they should book a cruise to beat the yuletide blues and just skip Christmas. However, the idea doesn’t go over well with their friends, neighbors, and the misfits that populate their basement.
Chapter Summary: The gang makes one last attempt to get Red and Kitty to change their minds about skipping Christmas. Will it work?
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/27705314/chapters/131126110
Sneak Peek: .
“So, this, this is really it huh?” Eric waved his hands in the air, showing his exasperation.
Kitty furrowed her brow slightly and calmly asked, “What is, dear?”
“This!” his hands went flying up again. “I mean you guys are actually going through with this cruise thing. And for the first time ever we’re not gonna spend Christmas together as a family.”
“Oh Eric, honey, you…”Kitty pursed her lips together, he sounded so upset it almost pulled on her heartstrings. “That is just, just so full of crap.”
“Burn!” shouted Michael almost instantly while the others stared back at her with wide, surprised eyes.
Her son’s being the largest in the group. “Mom!”
Kitty didn’t even have to look at Red to know he was finding the exchange amusing. “Well, it’s true,” she said firmly, she was not going to let her son try to use guilt against her, again. “Our family has not spent a Christmas together in ages. Not since Laurie came home that one year four years ago.”
“Six,” Red corrected from his seat.
“Right, well it was still a long time ago,” she said, not quite sure why he’d thought that information was important to correct, and she didn’t have time to give it too much thought either.
“Fine, so Laurie hasn’t been home for Christmas, but she barely counts as family anymore,” Eric’s argument made Kitty roll her eyes and shake her head. “Hyde’s more family than she is!”
You hadn't heard even a whisper from Rue since the night at the Howard's, but Lexi had at least kept you updated as much as she could.
The news that Rue was sober was bittersweet. You were glad she had the support she desperately needed, but you also knew she'd be knee deep in withdrawal, and you knew how shit that would be. Regardless, you were proud of her.
You were doing better within your own withdrawal, whilst you weren't spending hours bent over the toilet anymore, the aches were felt deep in your muscles, to the very collagen of your bones. You were trying, but the thought of this for the rest of your life? It felt suffocating, never-ending.
Sitting on the couch, practically melded into Fez's side, your eyes had fluttered shut as the sounds of Ben E King's voice filled the room, doing it's best to cover the rain outside, Fez's own voice blending with Lexi's as they softly sang along. You liked 'Stand By Me', living with Fezco you couldn't not like it. But you preferred 'Little House on the Prairie' more.
Sleep was biting at your ankles, clouding your consciousness – and quite possibly, judgement – but even as it gripped you, blanketing you as it wrapped around the edges of your mind, something about this moment felt so… simple. And despite the fact you'd been staying with Fezco for a while now, in this moment, you felt like an intruder.
This is what he deserves, you thought. Someone kind, and someone soft, and despite being the extraordinary person Lexi was, someone normal.
He shouldn't be rubbing your back as you violently gagged over the toilet, or bathing you when your muscles were took weak to even hold up your own body weight. He was already looking after his Grandma, and his brother. He shouldn't have to babysit you, too.
"For real, though. If your play is anything like 'Stand By Me', you're not gonna have no problems."
The two remained silent for a moment, the last few chords of the song playing through the speakers before Lexi spoke up,
"How are you feeling, Fez? With, you know… everything?"
With you, was what she meant. Only she was too polite to straight up say it. You felt Fez's shoulders shrug slightly, his arm moving to take another hit of his joint, "I'm good."
Even you could imagine the look Lexi was giving him. Her large brown eyes downcast, brows furrowed as she silently begged him to tell her the truth.
A deep sigh escaped Fez's lips, "I dunno, man. It's hard, watching her like this. Harder to watch her destroy herself though. You get me?"
"Yeah, I uh… I get you. It's the same with Rue, I guess. Watching her slowly kill herself is devastating but… knowing what she's going through being sober? You kinda just feel… helpless."
Their conversation played in your head on repeat as Fez gently placed your head onto a cushion, standing up and offering to drive Lexi home since it was still pouring down, and when the door eventually shut, you finally allowed a tear to fall from your eyes, chin wobbling as you begged yourself not to release a sob.
You knew Lexi and Fez had grown closer over the past few months, with the girl's uncertainty about her play, Fez was great at bringing her back down to Earth, even if what he said didn't always soothe her concerns.
You had no right to feel any kind of way about it, you knew that, but it didn't make the heavy weight that settled on your chest alleviate at all. You and Fez had never had an outright conversation about whatever the hell you were both doing, or even what you meant to each other. You knew he cared for you, and you knew your own feelings for the boy, but where did that begin and end? He cared for Rue, too. And you had no doubt in your mind he'd look after her just as well.
But they weren't sleeping together. Nor were they falling asleep in each others embrace every night. He didn't place soft kisses against her head when he thought she was sleeping, nor did he whisper sweet words to her as he explored her body, mapping it out and cementing it into his memory.
His friendship with Rue was very different from his friendship with you. You knew from the get-go that he viewed her as a little sister. But Lexi was an anomaly. With her, you weren't as certain. Especially when Lexi was the kind of person who deserved Fez. Who would help share the weight of the world that he carried around on his shoulders, regardless of his stoic attitude.
With Lexi, Fez would no longer have to play the role of Sisyphus, rolling the boulder up a hill for eternity. But with you? Well, you were the boulder.
Your phone buzzed on the table, and you pushed your tired frame up to grab it, ignoring the unknown number and instead making your way toward Fez's bedroom, ready to crawl into the cold bed and await for his return.
"Oh, shit. Sorry…" Faye muttered, her body almost colliding with your own as she left the bathroom, hair wrapped in a towel, "Shit, are you alright?"
If you'd of just made it to the bedroom without her interrupting, you'd of been fine. So why was it the moment someone finally questioned how you were, the floodgates opened, releasing any and every though you'd had tucked away in the form of tears.
Faye's brow raised, clearly a little confused and concerned with your sudden breakdown, but guided you back into the bathroom regardless.
A soft hand rubbed your back reassuringly as she remained quiet, unsure of what to say, and you had absolutely no intention of telling her that this was because of a boy, no matter how lovely Fez was. You refused to fall into the stereotype of the girl who's upset and jealous over a boy that isn't even really hers. You'd been there, done that, and had the hospital bill to prove it.
"It just hurts. I'm so tired, and I can't… I can't do it anymore. Not like this."
Faye nodded, biting at her plump bottom lip. If you hadn't of been so in your own head, maybe you'd of realized the girl had her own problems right now. Yet her she was, pacifying you, like some toddler who had lost it's favorite toy.
You didn't like this part of you. The part that was cunning and deceitful, wily even. Getting not what you needed, but what you wanted, regardless of anyone else's feelings. And what you needed right now was an escape.
Which was exactly why you spent the next few minutes begging Faye, pleading with her to just give you anything she had. That you'd pay her back. That Fez didn't need to know. That you needed this.
And that led you to sitting on the same bathroom floor that you had spent so long on – convulsing and crying in the height of your withdrawal – crushing up a bunch of Oxy pills, uncertain and uncaring of how many, as you forced the powder up your nose.
The feeling of relief was almost instantaneous. Shoulders sagging as you released a soft breath, you pushed yourself back against the toilet and closed your eyes.
Time slowed down, and you felt like you could feel you thoughts float past you, ignoring Faye's concerned glances with an almost dopey smile on your face, the soothing sounds of the rain outside pitter-pattering against the window lulling you into a false sense of peace, ignoring the buzzing of your phone once more.
Despite being unconvinced by your slurred words telling her to go to bed, Faye left, making her way to the couch, her mind whirling, the thoughts of what Cluster had told her earlier distracting her from your problems.
Fez rushed back into the apartment, clothes feeling soggy despite only spending a few seconds in the rain. He bypassed Faye, the girl sat staring at the TV, seemingly captivated by whatever show was playing since she barely moved an inch, despite Fez's quiet greeting.
Noting your absence on the couch, Fez quietly made his way toward his bedroom, presuming you'd taken yourself to bed. Not wanting to awake you, he made his way around the room in darkness, finding a clean pair of pajamas to change into.
It wasn't until he crawled into the bed, his hand seeking you only to find it cold and empty that he realized you weren't in the bed. Calling your name, he was surrounded with nothing by the quiet, indistinct noise from the TV.
Fez knew he could just go back to bed, that you'd follow him in soon enough, purring like a cat as he wrapped his warm body around your own, whispering sweet poetic words against your head as he waited for you to fall asleep first.
But a niggling feeling in the back of his mind told him to get out of bed. To find you. Something he couldn't quite name made his gut sink further as inscrutable fear crawled up his throat, the feeling slowly gripping him tighter and tighter.
Not bothering to knock, he pushed open the door of the bathroom, the call of your name cut off when he saw you perched on the floor, head at an awkward angle as it rested against the toilet seat.
"Ma?" His voice was shaky as he carefully made his way to you, noting, but ignoring, the small bag containing a few pills – pills that he sold – along with a small amount of residue on the floor.
His heart was pounding so loudly in his ears, he wouldn't have been able to hear you even if you did reply.
Yet he knew you hadn't. You hadn't moved since he'd entered the room. Not at the call of your name, nor when he bent down next to you, a hand on your shoulder.
Taking in a sharp breath, Fez felt your clammy skin against his hand, making him call out your name louder this time, as he shook you slightly. When you didn't respond, he tipped your head back, breath halting in his throat when he saw your purple-tinged lips, his fingers pulling back your eyelids only to find two small, pinpoint pupils barely staring back at him.
You were still conscious, but barely. With his hand over your chest, your rapid heartbeat in juxtaposition with your increasingly shallow breathing, Fez shouted for Ash. For Faye. For fucking any body.
Barreling into the room, eyes wide and shotgun ready, Ash took one look at you before rushing back out, searching the cupboard for the unopened box of Narcan spray, his hands shaking as he handed it to his brother, watching with baited breath and a wobbly chin as he watched his brother administer it.
"Do you want me to call an ambulance?"
Faye's soft voice made Ash flinch, the young boy not realizing she was stood behind him. Ash repeated her question only louder, trying to get the attention of his brother.
"Fez? Ambulance or not?" Ash's words were desperate, his eyes darting between his brother and you as you slowly came around, dazed and confused, eyes squinting as if the florescent light of the bathroom was giving you a headache.
"I don't… I don't fuckin' know, alright?!"
Fez's hand gently traced your face, watching as your chest finally managed to take in a deep breath, his forehead falling to yours as he held you close to him. Flashes of him as a 14 year old boy, terrified and skeptical of calling an ambulance for his Grandma blurred his vision, feelings of a pale blue grief tinged with the hot, red unforgivable guilt that he'd felt the moment the doctor had uttered those words to him all those years ago. He was too late.
Except this time, you wouldn't end up bed bound. You could end up dead.
The intrusive thought choked him, teardrops tumbling down his cheeks and dripping down your own as he held your body against his in a futile attempt top keep you warm, a sob pressing against his Adam's apple, just waiting for him to open his mouth.
"Call 'em."
Tumblr media
The muffled sounds of beeping pulled you from your slumber, and once you'd awoken, you almost wished you hadn't.
Your head was pounding, feeling like it was going to burst from your skull at any moment, the constant noise elevating as you came to, eyes blurry as you tried to look around the room, only to find scratchy bed sheets and too white walls.
"Hey, Ma. You good, calm down."
You'd heard his voice before you'd even seen him, his fuzzy outline reaching for you, taking your hand into his, as gentle as one might handle the finest china.
"Fez?" Your voice was rough after being used, and a pain that wasn't entirely related to your current hospital visit sat heavy in your chest as he leaned over you, helping you to take a sip of temperature warm water that had been sitting in a cup, awaiting your awakening.
"What were you thinkin'?" He asked, his eyes searching yours as if he would find the answers there, "You was doin' so well, Ma."
Closing your eyes, the tears began to slowly escape, only escalating when you felt Fez's soft lips against your cheek, kissing them away as he cooed at you, "It's OK. You're OK."
The doctor introduced himself, and after running a few tests, had determined that you were at the very least, out of the woods.
"Unfortunately, the centers we're in communication with don't have any rooms yet available, so we can only offer outpatient support-"
"She was on that before, and it didn't help for shit. She needs-"
"I'm afraid that's the only option we have. Unless she's willing to go out of state, and even then we can't guarantee they'd have any spaces. The recent incline in addictions and drug use is-"
"Yeah, yeah I get it," Fez waved his hand, not wanting to hear the rest of the doctor's excuse, "But what happens if this happens again, and we ain't there to help?"
"Outpatient rehab can be extremely helpful, so long as she makes the commitment to attend and participate."
You were fed up with the two men arguing over you, neither allowing you to speak as they continued to cut each other off.
"If I go back to outpatient, will I still get detoxification?"
"I don't think that's the best-"
Holding your own hand up, you were thankful Fez settled back down. The thought of you taking anything was terrifying to him, regardless to whether it was for recreational purposes or not.
"Of course. We can help you safely detox so withdrawal is much more comfortable. As soon as a bed is available-"
"I don't want impatient," Fez's perplexed stare burned into the side of your face, causing you to turn and grip his hand a little tighter, "It didn't work for me last time. You know what happened as soon as I got out..."
"So outpatient?"
Turning back to the doctor, you sent him a small nod, trying to ignore that it made you brain roll around in your head, "The NA group I was a part of... I want to stay there. They have, uh... Good people."
Scribbling down a few notes, the doctor sent you a small, reassuring smile, before excusing himself.
"Outpatient seemed to work just as well as inpatient did," Fez grumbled, shaking his head in annoyance, "And detoxin'? You know they're just gonna pump you with some other shit instead."
"I can't do cold turkey again, Fezco. It felt like it was killing me. I can't and I won't do it again. If I'm going to do this, it needs to be my decision, OK?"
Fez's jaw clenched, his eyes avoiding yours, yet he still nodded, accepting you words. But he was scared and the feeling of guilt had ripped him apart.
"I should'a never given you anything that first night." Pulling his hand from your grip, he ran it over his head, fingers twitching for a joint. A cigarette. Anything.
"You know if you didn't, I'd of still ended up back here. Just a lot sooner. A lot less alive, most likely-"
"Shit, Ma. Don't joke around about that bullshit, alright?" Fez pushed himself further down into his seat, his red eyes raw from rubbing at the tears, "I thought you was dead. I thought I was too fuckin' late. You don't get to put me through that shit and then joke about it like it's funny. Like it wouldn't of fucked me up."
Remaining silent, you picked at your nails in your lap, unable to meet his eyes. He was right, of course he was. And the thought of him finding you like that broke your heart, "All I'm saying is whether your sold to me at that party or not... I would've found a way. Through Devon, through Mouse. It would've happened regardless. If anything, I'm lucky it was you, and not someone else."
Sniffing, Fez rubbed his nose with the sleeve of his sweater. He felt exhausted, like he could sleep a million years and still wake up fatigued. He was at a loss. All of his options had split, leaving him to trust the judgement of an addict to come clean. It scared him, knowing how close he was to losing you, and how easily it could happen again. It felt like everything he had done lately was wrong, like it was only hindering your sobriety.
So he had no other options left. He had to trust you.
Tumblr media
You were discharged a day later, your body weak and unable to walk to Fez's car without guidance.
Ash had straight up refused to visit you once he'd found out you were going to be OK, and you knew you had a whole different wrath awaiting you once you got home.
Leaning your head against the car window, the rain trickling down calming you slightly, you knew it would take a lot for you to get the boy to trust you again. Maybe this time, he wouldn't. You just hoped neither boy found out where you'd got the pills from. Which reminded you, you'd need to apologize to Faye when you got back.
Resting against Fez as he helped you into the apartment, locking the door behind him, you felt a pair of eyes on you before you'd even stepped foot into the living room.
"The fuck is wrong with you?"
"Ash, man. Not the time-"
Cutting his brother off, Ash's voice only got louder, "Not the time? When is the fuckin' time, Fez? When she's dead on the bathroom floor? When we're explainin' to the police where she got the fuckin' drugs from? When-"
"Ash," your voice was weak and weary, and if he was honest, it was the only reason he'd stopped his tirade, "I know that no apology can make this right... But I am sorry. I'm so fucking sorry."
Rolling his bloodshot eyes, hips lips twisted as he tried to keep himself together. It was still difficult to remind yourself sometimes that he was just a kid.
"But? What's your excuse? You’re an addict? You can't help it. It's in your fuckin' DNA?"
Taking a moment to watch the boy, you tried to push down your own tears, feeling like it wouldn't help in the moment and instead shrugged your shoulders, "There is no but. No excuse. I'm just really fuckin' sorry. And I know it doesn't mean much right now, but I promise, I'm gonna try. With real help this time. I will never let you see me like that again."
Despite his chin wobbling, Ash refused to let any tears fall, "Yeah, well. We'll see, won't we."
He words seemed harsh, and you couldn't deny that you deserved their bitter tone, but the slight squeeze he gave your hand before he stood and made his way toward his room made your owns tears fall.
"I'm gonna get you some water, and somethin' to change into. I'll be right back."
Faye sat, staring at you with her wide eyes on the opposite sofa, almost worried that if she'd have moved, you'd notice her, and tell Fez exactly where you'd got the Oxycontin from. She wasn't scared of Fez -- she knew he would never hurt her, he wasn't that type of guy and trust her, she knew a lot of them -- but she didn't know how he'd react. Ash, on the other hand, did scare her, despite his age. He'd already killed one person to protect someone he loved, Faye was certain he wouldn't think about doing it twice. Especially since he was only just starting to warm up to her a little.
"I'm so sorry, Faye." You mumbled, hoping neither boy would hear you. Her brows shot up for a second, before furrowing in confusion, "I should've never put you in that position. It was beyond fucked up of me."
"Oh," she sighed, still confused.
"I know I'm in no position to ask for any favors, but please, just don't tell anyone that you gave them to me. Fez doesn't need to feel any more betrayed, and you don't deserve the fallout."
"You ready?" Fez asked, walking back down the hallway and standing by your side, finally noticing the weird atmosphere between yourself and Faye, "Everything good?"
Nodding, you pulled Fez's attention from the wide-eyed girl, her mouth opening and closing a few times as she stumbled over whatever she wanted to say.
"Oh, this has been going off non-stop." Faye stood, handing you your phone from the coffee table. Unlocking it and seeing the unknown number once more, you glared at it, as if the telemarketing team would be able to feel your annoyance from there.
Faye pulled you into a gentle hug once you were stood, a small smile on her face.
"Thank you," you told her, a knowing look in your eye. Thank you for keeping my secret.
Once Faye had nodded back in understanding, you allowed Fez to lead you into his room, the boy gently undressing and redressing you before joining you in bed.
The past few days had both somehow flown by, and slowly dragged, each second feeling like it lasted a minute too long. And if you closed your eyes tight enough, you could almost pretend everything was normal, that everything was OK. Like you'd never fallen into the wrong crowd, and met Fez by pure coincidence.
That you'd ended up here without all of the disaster you seemed to cause. Trying your best to swallow the lump in your throat that made an appearance whenever you thought about how Fez -- and Ash -- deserved so much than the cards they'd been dealt in life, and how somehow, no matter how hard you tried, you were a bad hand. No matter their number, you seemed to push their hand over 21, causing a bust every time. Allowing their lives to explode in their faces, and only being able to shrug you shoulders as you watched them cut their fingers on the broken glass as they tried their best to clean up your devastation.
That was the problem with self-destruction. Whilst crawling through the brick and mortar and dust of your own demolition, you never saw the bodies that were buried next to you, silently impacted by your downfall.
And the longer you stayed, the harder it would be for them to crawl out, too.
Fuck
No
Shit
Your body went cold. You had stopped moving and just stared at him, eyes locked. He kept an unfazed look, just looking up at you with his drowsy eyes. He wanted to know, he needed to know if you were his doll face. The little girl he had befriended all those years ago.
You regained your autonomy over your body and resumed your movements, praying that no one had heard or gotten suspicious.
“Doll face? You know sweetcheeks, carrot boy?”
Shit
Fuck
You looked up at him with pleading eyes.
Please don’t, please don’t, please don’t.
“Nah, just confused her face.”
“She is a good one, isn't she?" You heard him say again. The redhead nodded slowly.
“Yeh, she is.”
Mouse’s laughter reverb over the place, making you feel the pressure of not stopping. Not looking at him.
“Yeah, she is a sweet one,” he took a sip of beer, “I promise, you can’t even imagine the number of guys that have cum in that same seat, my man…little sweetcheeks here making them cum with just a dance!”
Your jaw clenched, wanting him to stop talking about you like that. It was already an unpleasant enough experience to live as for to relieve it by word. Although the man beneath you seemed to not care at all.
He looked past your face and opened a beer from the many near. Raising his brows, making him seem like he couldn’t believe Mouse’s words.
“Really?” lacing his tone with fake astonishment.
“Yeah! Word is, little sissy here gives the best head around the neighborhood,” he comes near you, slapping one of your ass cheeks.
You had to grip the redhead's shoulders to prevent you from shuddering.
Please stop talking. You kept repeating in your head, with your eyes closed. Desiring to disappear from the embarrassment and just not having to face the look on the man’s face beneath you.
It wasn’t like you liked to do that. You just had to. A job is a job. Those words kept you going and stopped you from falling apart.
At first, you had managed to keep up with your weekly quotas by just dancing, but when word got around, Mouse decided to higher his commission. Forcing you to look for more ways to make money.
And any time you tried to get a job that didn’t involve this word, your brother was back at you with threats and violence. You had tried so many times before, you ever gave your first blow job and had some bills thrown at your face.
You had felt disgusted with yourself and scrubbed your tongue. After that, you brushed your teeth for eternity. It took you long enough to insert in your head that it was part of your job. That it was just a job.
But word got around. Again. And as always, Mouse found a way to benefit himself. And now he had you dancing for his people and sucking them off. You didn’t even get privacy having to do everything in that same chair.
It was disgusting. It made you cry a lot. And it was something you definitely didn’t want him to know about.
Fez
Your Fezco
Only God knows how hard you prayed for so long for this day. Day, noon, night.
Your imagination had been the only thing that had kept you happy all this time. In the middle of dancing, upstage or private, between jobs, the only thing that kept you going and smiling was thinking about the different scenarios in which you could meet again.
Your favorite one was where you find yourselves at the university. You are walking around, maybe at the start of your first semester there. You are still a little lost and getting used to the installations that it takes you a while to get around.
You had your math class next and were absolutely lost with the indications that the office gave you. So, you asked a group of people sitting at an outside table.
They were friendly, and one of the girls even offered to take you. You thanked them all and left with the girl. And then, she would say something like, “Oh my GOD, you are going to love this class. The teacher assistant is so cute. Everyone loves it just because of him.”
And you wouldn’t believe her, oblivious to what was coming next. But when she left you at the door, and you had chosen your seat, it was going to be his voice that would have made you look up. And there he would have been, being a math teacher assistant. A great one.
Then, you would approach him, he would remember you, of course, and your encounters would increase following that day.
That was your favorite scenario because it just seemed right. It felt right. That was how life should have been for both of you.
But it never occurred, and you were stuck here. Being pulled by your hair by your brother’s hand brings you back to your reality.
The force that he pulled you with made you moan from the pain.
“Yeah, right," he laughed. “She loves it when you pull her like this, just like the slut she is, right little sissy,” he shoveled your head to the side with force and left the room, probably going to look for someone to deal with him.
Any female who would have been forced to have him couldn't help but make you feel bad.
You felt a soft hand go behind your head, taking it softly and caressing your skull. Fez, oh Fez. Still looking at you with those same eyes. And the same look he always had on for you when you were just kids.
He looked around discreetly, and when he was sure no one was around, he grabbed your hips and stopped you from moving.
You suddenly became shy under his sight and smiled nervously.
“Hi,” you muttered, failing to contain your nervousness and focusing your eyes anywhere else than his face.
Yet, he cradled your face softly. Inciting you to rest your cheeks in his hold, making you feel warm, safe, and delicate.
“My pretty doll face,” he couldn’t believe his eyes, “You were here? All this time? How did I never see you?”
“I keep to myself mostly. When not working or with…Mouse,” you doubt a little at the end. You see his eyes harden at the name.
“What’s he of you?”
You clench your jaw, embarrassed at the situation. At first, you were a little doubtful, but you finally told him, “My brother.”
“No brother should be treating his little sister like that,” his eyes soften at your sight. For him, you seemed fragile due to all the abuse and violence surrounding you, and it was wrong. You had always been full of confidence in yourself. You never seemed scared and always smiled at the world. That was you, he remembered, the little girl that had been the focal source of inspiration all this time.
He wanted you to become her again, your true self. Not what these people wanted and were forcing you to be; scared and oppressed, abused.
“Women should be protected, adored. No matter their job choice or anything,” he murmured against your forehead, leaving his lips pressed, trying to comfort you without being too excessive with his touch.
But you wanted a hug, you caved touch from him. After all these years without any glimpse of gentleness, you had forgotten what it felt to be warm.
Slowly, your arms went around his middle, and he secured you between his arms, eyes closed by both parts. Just two people savoring the moment.
“Why have you not you left,”
“I can’t. I’ve tried so many times,” you felt the tears starting to form.
He strokes your hair and kisses your head crown.
"Whenever you pack your things and leave, one day. Find milk," he sighs. It's a convenience store. Ask for me if I'm not in there. Tell them that I sent you.
“Fezco, you don’t have to,”
“Too bad, I want to,” he smiled at you.
“Fezco,” you said softly.
“I want to, doll face. Okay?”
“Okay,” you rested your head against his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
Now this has "Whenever you pack your things and depart, one day. Find milk," he sighs. It's a convenience store. Ask for me if I'm not in there. Tell them that I sent you.
Now this has effortlessly turned into your favorite memory.
Sadly, all good things have to end, and this moment too.
“I have to go, little girl,” he murmured against your hair.
“Just…5 minutes more, please?”
“I wish, but not wanna risk getting someone mad at you,” he said as his arms prepared to let you go, but you snuggled closer into his chest.
“I don’t want to let you go,” you tighten your grip on him.
He laughs softly while exhaling. You are not letting me go, ma." He kisses the crown of your head, saying, "We'll be together again. Where're you working at, pretty girl?"
You press your lips together in a tight line before you let out a sigh, “At the neighborhood’s strip club.”
“Alright, now I know where to find you,”
“We’re not losing contact anymore?”
He exaggerates his hold on you while kissing your crown, saying, "No more, pretty one," which causes you to chuckle. "You won't be free of me, you hear me? I have to give this gorgeous one a lot of visits.
You nod, euphoric by his words. But wasn't enough for him. He wanted to hear you say yes and laugh. For you, let yourself be carefree for a second.
He moves his lips down to your ear and repeats his question with a funny tone, “You hear me, ma? You hear me!?”
“Yes! Yes, I do!” you laugh, looking up at him, just for him to be already staring back at you with his hooded eyes and a cute smile. He kissed your forehead one last time before getting up with you still in his arms and letting you down in the chair gently.
He strokes your face, taking some strands off and tucking them behind your ears. You smiled at him, and he had never stopped doing so. He walked backward for most of the footpath until he closed that door, and you were back.
Aware of your surroundings, feeling the disgust coming back and curling up on the chair, starting to count to 10, trying to control your breaths.
Nights and days went by, and you had to keep up with your life. Your work and your dancing. But you couldn’t help feeling some sort of hope filling you. You felt motivated for a better future. That there might be a future out there after all.
You felt yourself changing and even started dancing in between your dances. It felt unbelievable how powerful a moment can become, no matter how short.
Your shift had ended, and you were putting away your things in your bag when one of the security guys entered the room. You side-eye him, “You want to head? If you do, the price went up.”
“Your brother’s guy is here. They are waiting for you. Outside.” he gruffed, leaving just as he entered.
You froze. The only time this happens is when your payment is due. And you were not due until the end of the week. You walk through the people until going through the back door and waving goodbye to the early morning shift guys.
You kept your head down, walking silently and with an iron grip over your bag. You recognize the man standing out of the vehicle, one of your brother's buddies.
He opens the door without making a sound, giving each other a nod, closing it after you. You stare at him through the tinted glass. The car was empty beside your brother’s presence beside you.
“I’m not due,” you muttered.
“Well, little sissy. You know what happens to people who earn more than they deserve?” He pulls out a blunt and inhales a long puff before filling the car with smoke. You shook your head.
“Their payment goes up,” he releases smoke. Right to your face, making you hold your breath by reflex.
“I don’t have more money, Mouse.” you try to reason, “Between you and my employer, I barely have any more money left.”
He chuckles breathlessly, "Heard your blowie price went up. Who knows? 'Might be the time you start using your pussy. I know a few who would pay big grand for a taste."
“I’m not doing that,” your hand grips the seat.
“Well, I tried. Now pay, or you’ll be working with a bruised eye.”
“I don’t have any money, Mouse.”
“What about tips?”
In my locker, safe from any trash like you.
“Boss keeps them,”
He sits still for a few seconds with the blunt between his lips.
“Liar, liar, pants on fire,” he grabs a fist of your hair, pulling from it, making you look at the car’s ceiling, hurting your neck by the sudden movement.
You moan in pain, and he grabs you in a chokehold, “Careful there, honey. My buddies here might think you like that and wanna try doing it themselves.”
“You wouldn’t”
He yells out a name and yanks down your strapless top with a questioning, "You sure?" Someone unlocks a door. "Miralas. A que no son bonitas? Tocalas, she likes it." Mouse plays with and massages your boobs while encouraging his buddy to do the same. The hands then shift shortly after. (Look at them. Aren't they lovely? Touch them)
The guy starts by playing with your nipples, pinching and twisting them. Your brother pulls your hair, making you moan in pain again.
“You hear that, bro? Told you she likes it,” he laughs.
You feel the tears forming in your eyes. This had never happened before. You had never felt so vulnerable. Feeling unable to move or even react to any slight movement. Your grip is stuck on the leather seat. And your breathing turned erratic.
You notice the guy taking his finger into his mouth and then back at your nipples, wetting them. Your body shakes in fear and disgust. You pray for everything to stop or for you to just black out and not remember anything.
“They feel nice, bossman.”
His hand moves down, rubbing your genitalia, and says, "Let me tell you what, in a few days, this pussy could be all yours." He licks your neck, "Think of it as a present from me, a sneak peek before it goes on sale, huh? What do you think, little sissy?"
You were going to vomit. You could feel it coming. Your body was sweating cold, the ringing in your ears overpowering his words. You felt as if you were out of your body, being able to see everything happening to your body as if you were a viewer.
It was as if your mind and body had separated from one another. Your insides were shrinking by the feeling of their wandering hands.
Please stop.
Jesus Christ, you are my brother.
Please stop.
Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop.
Help, please, someone.
God, please listen. Please.
The man had taken over your brother's hand, placing it down on you, palming you, tracing your lips with his middle finger.
The tears started to drop. You hadn’t even noticed until they started laughing loudly about it.
“Mouse, that you, my man?”
Your eyes move, looking for the voice owner. Locating a shadow hovering over your brother's side, opening the door.
“Carrot boy! What you doing ‘ere?” Fez looked past him, focusing on you and your position. His heart dropped. Having to see you like that was not pleasant. It took every ounce of his willpower to not take you right there and run away and leave everything behind.
He had to take you out of that situation and fast.
“Sweetcheeks here left me desiring for more, came ‘round looking to test if her sucking skills are good as they say,” he faked a smile. “But with that view. I’ll pay anything for a titty fuck, giving me a hard-on,” he chuckles, grabbing his crotch area
Mouse palms his shoulder laughing. “I like this boy! He just understands,” he looks over at the dude over you, “Take your hands off. She’s about to get real busy.”
Mouse grabs you from the back of your neck and throws you at Fez, who immediately cradles your body, trying to give you safety.
“Take her to my crib when you finish with her, money in hand, carrot boy.”
“Don’t be up waiting for ‘er! Gotta make that money worth it. If you know what I mean,” Mouse nods at his words smiley. And looks for something in his pocket, giving it to him.
“Just give her some if she fights. You know how it is.”
“As long as she’s not a spitter,” he takes the bag from him and waves them goodbye. Waiting for them to be out of sight before he could hug you properly.
“Fuck, fuck. Fuck that motherfucker,” he curses against your hair, kissing it between words, “I’ve got to get you out of there, ma.”
You felt something in you click with those words, making you return from the trance you had entered.
You started crying almost immediately, sobbing -hard- a river flowing down your cheeks. You didn’t even care about being half naked in a parking lot; if Fez could feel you up, you just cared about the warmth that hugged you.
Your hands held on tight to his shirt, taking the fabric in a fist, unable to stay still in that hug. Grabbing him by the shoulders and neck, pulling his cloth. You wanted comfort.
Fezco could feel the tears trespassing his shirt, the buggers coming out onto his shirt. You're sobbing, making him feel tears forming in his own eyes.
He made a promise to himself that night, a vow. He would become your protector and do whatever it took to take you out of there and ensure you never return.
“Just wait a little more, and we’ll be together before you know it,” he kisses your tears, and you nod wanting to believe his words.
