I think it is because you many rules for your recs? I understand it because it is your tumblr, but because it is pair you not like to accept it and other people like it. They do not try and they feel left out. I understand a few rules. I understand the no rape and stalk and harm. nd the masters with padawanns pair because they are like parents with their children. But for a pair not like this, it is because you do not like it for yourself, i do not understand. If fandom friday made because it is bringing us together, people see you do not like their recs and feel bad and think they are wrong to like it. Because of this they do not try. Maybe you can get more recs, you can make a new group for pairs you do not like and put a warning on top it? I am sorry if i am rude, i am trying hard to ask you nice. I like your recs. Hey anon. I get that the rules may not be cool with everyone, but as the person that is putting in the work each week, I think I have every right to not include things I'm not comfortable with. People are more than welcome to start their own fandom events to include that material, but as the person that spends hours every week curating the queue and creating the master post and sifting through my inbox, I'm not going to change to try and get more people to participate. Not all of the rules are exclusionary; in fact, many of them are just informative in to how to participate and clarifications on what can and should be recommended.

I don't think the reason I'm not getting participation has anything to do with the rules; it's a larger trend that we've been seeing a lot on here lately. People just aren't engaging in the same way that they used to, and just about every writer and artist I talk to agrees that reblogs and comments are down. This event is intended to change that, but when I can't even get people to engage in that way, it's discouraging.

So no, I will not be changing the rules, and if that deters certain people, then that's fine. I'm really not bothered by people that wish to compromise my boundaries/comfort levels feeling excluded.

2: What scene did you first put down?

I think the first one ever was the Ivory, Sir Jennings' ship, docking in the closest harbour and telling Connor about the lost nautical charts, but then I decided to move it further in the story to let the reader enjoy the mystery unveiling little by little, without major spoilers too early in the plot ^_-

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

Oh, my... that's hard!! I really don't know!! i think I like so much when the peg-leg old man is talking about the sirens to comfort Mary, or when Shay tells Gist about the myth of Sedna. Or it could be a phrase Connor says in the ending, but it would spoil too much, so I won't quote it U.U

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

Mmmh... Probabily the dialogue where Mary and Connor talk about their mothers sharing their experiences. Or that one where they are arguing and she tells him he only sees "the wounds on the surface, the ones the skin shows..." and he answers she does the same. (Yeah, so much angst, I know ^ ^' but it's not that bad if you read on, guys!)

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to accompany us while reading?

I have a whole playlist for this! Many songs helped me and inspired me so much during the writing process! n_n

14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?

Yes... All I can say, without spoiling too much, is... I really hope everyone who reads my FanFic can feel that dialogue is always possible, no matter how different the minds; and that, as human species, we can always grow and improve, no matter how terrible and painful the past has been.

15: What did you learn from writing this fic?

I learnt to trust my writing skills more, to take my time to develop my inspiration to the right point for better words and concepts to come out and, last but not least, I learnt so so soooo much about the world of ships, life on open sea and maritime language!!!

Y'all... I cannot stress enough how you need to interact with things in order to maintain a fandom community.

I have seen absolutely abysmal interaction with everything I've posted lately, and it is IMMENSELY disheartening. Of course, I create it for me, but I choose to share it with everyone and want to get excited about it WITH YOU. And it seems that every other artist/writer/creator I know is experiencing the same thing.

If you're one of the people that regularly interact or just have hit a bit of a speedbump lately, then please know I'm not talking to you. I'm also not talking to other creators that have to choose between engaging or creating (and sometimes just don't have the bandwidth). I'm talking to the blogs that ask for more and then never comment or share. I'm talking to the people that sign up for tag lists and then are never heard from again. I'm talking to blogs that spam like but haven't reblogged anything since 2022. Y'all, this site thrives off of interaction. That is how it works. You have to help things circulate, and it is so frustrating to see the entire place in a collective slump. I have been blocking blogs left, right, and center that do not share things, and I will continue to do so. But it is such a freakin' bummer to see the state of things at the moment.

Hell, I started a sideblog for Fandom Friday (@fandom-friday), and have only received a handful of submissions after getting asked numerous times when it would be coming back. IT'S BACK. IT'S HERE. WHERE IS EVERYONE????? I figured after a few months' break, that people would have plenty of submissions stacked up, but that has not been the case AT ALL.

Fandom communities are such incredible places, but it's felt like a ghost town around here lately with the writers and artists just screaming into the void to PLEASE INTERACT WITH OUR STUFF. Please show up for one another because it is so very soul-crushing to watch everyone I know just feel completely disheartened. I cannot tell you how depressing it is to spend hours and hours carefully crafting something, being genuinely excited about it, and get almost no interaction or response other than a few likes and comments.

Yeah, I just like to have the shows on as background noise when writing seriously, especially as it helps with characterization and sometimes I catch small character details or a plot thread to expand on or change.

Right now, I am in so many fandom feels so maybe Peaky Blinders will sneak in.
