7 keys to life

Earlier this week I shared a post that gained the attention of several people.  It first rolled around my head and heart.  I think it is important enough to repeat here…

7 Keys to Life

1.  Put God first

2.  Love One Another

3.  Never Hate

4.  Give Generously 

5.  Live Simply

6.  Forgive Quickly

7.  Pray Everyday

That is some powerful stuff.  In fact, as the new year begins those are many of the things that wraps us resolutions and life change that so many people are longing for.  Some of them are close to impossible if we are honest.

You might not have an issue or problem with putting God first, loving others or living simple.  But a lot of people struggle with forgiving or dealing with hate.  Those are the characteristics that lead to frustration and even more problems when they are not dealt with.

Look close at the list again.  Might two of those things be the opposite or the cure for hate and not forgiving?  I suggest that showing love and living out our prayers might be the best way or the ultimate cure for hate and unforgiveness.

1 John 2:11  NLT  

But anyone who hates a fellow believer is still living and walking in darkness. Such a person does not know the way to go, having been blinded by the darkness.

Turn that hate in to something that shows you care about what God cares about.  Love reminds us of who we are.

Ephesians 4:32  NLT  

Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

if a TRANSMAcS makes a shitty joke and you start talking about transfems being nazis or whatever in response, you are being dishonnest about what happened. when you start talking about transfems making jokes about raping transmascs and then say "what happens if one of these people actually rapes a transmasc" its pretty fucking clear you and spacelazarwolf are implying that transfems are predatory, over something a TRANSMASC said. thats not a "bad fiath reading" you two are just fucking lying about what happened.

@spacelazarwolf made his post about white supremacy in transfem circles not because it was a transfem joking about raping me (it was transmascs doing it). That's because there was a transfem in the thread who called me a slur and whose blog had white supremacist humor on it. And what Avi was talking about wasn't even a callout of this specific transfem, it was talking about wider issues of white supremacy and anti-minority sentiment in the trans community. Stop derailing this discussion and confront your racism.

Was thinking about Giles in season 7 and how a lot of people say he's ooc. And then I thought about how much his behaviour is foreshadowed in earlier seasons.

There's a lot of clues in earlier years that Giles could react like this. Even a direct parallel. End season 1 Buffy dies, season 2, total personal disaster (him and Buffy), season 3 he comes back in a three piece Watcher suit, treats Fiath in an unemotionally-attached traditional Watcher way and he ends up performing the cruciamentum. Then, end of seson 5 Buffy dies, season 6 multiple characters have personal disasters, he's off doing who knows what (recovering from Buffy's death most likely), season 7 Giles returns trying to maintain control (of himself and others) and it ends up in LMPTM/Empty Places.

With the destruction of the Council, and everything that has happened to him his entire life, he is trying to not fall apart by trying to regain control (both in season 3 and season 7). The Council used to be that for him, now in season 7 he's all he has. So he leans into THAT side of himself. It's not fun to watch but I DON'T think it's ooc. It's what he did in season 3. Eventually he and Buffy reconciled after Helpless (I'd argue the moment she asked him to be her Watcher again in 5x01, though I think I'm in the minority here lol). They never really had the time to properly reconcile in season 7.

That's the fucking tragedy. Giles is trapped in a cycle of behaviour and he can't get out.

There is really no good way to have honest discussion about prison abolition, is there? If you ask the questions every single person will ask, you're bad faith moron and will be mocked, all the while everyone refuses to answer them. If everyone refusing to answer the most basic question makes you skeptical, you're a white supremacist who supports rape. If you support anything less than 100% complete immediate abolishment, you're a centrist shitlib. Also, if you think abolitionists demand complete abolishment, yu're a bad fiath mroon who doesn't knwo anything.

I think its an over resposne to being dismissed so much/dealign with so many bad faith arguments that they get into this super defensive position and sort of assume the worse of any question but it is very frustrating.

There is a lot of merit to discusison of Prison abolution, certainly the current American prison system is a nightmarish moral abomination and a lot of people probably shouldn't be locked up either bceause they are innocent or because they have non violence offenses. There are a series of questions that do need to be addressed by the group though such as

What do you do with violent criminals, particuarly though whose crimes were vindictive in nature. Normally people talk about serial killers, but I am more thinking about Hate Groups or Cops

What about WHite Collar Criminal? How do we handle them, because they are the onese where Prison as a deterrent works with the best?

LIke there are a lot of issues Prison Abolitionsts need to have a quick response too, even though I'm pretty sympathetic to most criticisms of prison, but you need a plan beyond Anarchism
