as a bisexual who cannot do math, please explain the Fibonacci sequence and what it does 😌✋
the sequence progresses as the sum of the previous two numbers. starting from 1 you get 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21. you add 1 and 1, then 1 and 2, then 2 and 3, and so on, long as you like.
using squares, you arrive at this rectangle right here going counterclockwise. creating a spiral if you let the blue line cross through opposing corners. genius af, now you have an instrument to analyze both round and square things, straight and curved line unite.
the big deal about it is, it results in the golden ratio (!) as a rather mysterious measure of visual harmony. the theory is, it’s beautiful because it’s familiar.
things that aren’t in the golden ratio can be pleasing to the eye, but harmonious things are typically in that proportion. it always calculates as 1.618.
as a rule of thumb, if you perceive something as well-proportioned and beautiful, there might be a fibonacci sequence in there. like miss mona; da vinci deliberately used the spiral for the face-torso proportion.
unsurprisingly, da vinci also must have created taehyung who is the mona lisa of bts. his eyes and his mouth are placed at the exact intersections. it’s no surprise that he’s so handsome.
another example. jungkook’s most widely perceived and fascinating feature are his galaxy eyes — of course we find out... his pupils sit exactly within the ratio. that’s the reason why we look at them instantly.
now the cutest detail, you might also find it interesting that yoongi’s eyes have the exact curvature of the spiral. the man can’t do math either, but math says yoongi looks good not just according to caro’s taste but also on paper. check!
