What inspired you to write the adoption fic? Why did you pick Luke for it? What was the character development process like?

What inspired you to write this fic?

I can’t remember where I first thought of it, but I think I just wanted to do something a little different from the ‘traditional’ route to having children! When I first mentioned it on my blog, a few people messaged me to say they’d really appreciate a fic based on adoption because they can’t have children naturally etc, so I really wanted to write it for those people too!

Why did you pick Luke for it?

I wanted to create a new Luke universe at the time since I didn’t really have one that I could use! I love writing about him in a relationship/as a dad so I thought it could be interesting to write about him in a different kind of situation, and I personally think it fits him quite well!

What was the character development process like?

I have LOVED developing Bella’s character in this AU.😭 It’s one of my favourite things about writing this fic, because I’ve loved going from her being so anxious and almost distressed when she first went home with them and the whole grieving thing, to her slowly becoming comfortable with them and hitting different milestones etc. There’s a lot more progress coming up but I love writing about how far she’s come with them. I also love writing Luke and reader as parents to her and how they’ve adapted to that! I try to include what I think would be difficult moments so it’s not all perfect and happy all the time, and them just adapting to being parents to her and how their relationship evolves with that too!
