Been thinking about doing a “Fictionkin Brain vs. Therian Brain” type thing in terms of outfit styling, but not necessarily? Would that kind of thing be interesting to anyone? I think a lot about how different kintype shifts affect my presentation, behavior, perception, etc. and how it differs

Has this been done yet? Probably.
Tried to use language that's inclusive of alterhumans who are still human.

If you, my fictionkin and otherkin and therian etc, friends, are ever sitting around, fretting and worrying that maybe everyone secretly feels like you do--
--that everyone's dissatisfied with being human. That it's perfectly normal to feel like your body should look like something else that it does.
I give you evidence that no. No that's not the case. Not everybody feels like that.
Most people do not chose to have horns, weird colored skin, or be a dragon.

screw therian gatekeepers I’m proud to be a silly little dog who dresses weird and has too many kintypes and barks to communicate with my partner. haters can stay mad I experience joy and wonder and love my identity and don’t feel the need to prove my experiences are real in a 10 paragraph long essay about why I consider myself nonhuman. I’m so happy there are kids on tiktok who feel comfortable enough to post videos of them running around on all fours to share with their friends or make friends with other young therians. I’m happy I see the theta delta in twitter bios so often and that more people are unapologetically their weird selves and have a community where they feel comfortable actually being themselves and expressing that without any internalized self hatred or strictness about how you’re allowed to identify or how you’re allowed to treat your identity. I’m glad everyone is different and some people can enjoy writing essays about their alterhumanity without looking down on the people who don’t. I’m glad there are nonhumans who aren’t comfortable wearing kin gear but don’t put down the people who dress obviously kin on the daily and it affects every aspect of them as people. I’m glad we’re growing out of elitism and that bitchy gatekeepers are leaving the community because “therianthropy isn’t what it used to be””. fuck you, we didn’t want your grumpy boomer ass here anyway. we don’t have space for toxicity and self hatred anymore.

Something very powerful about deciding that your identity is psychological in origin. No gods, no masters, I decide why I am the way I am, I am the author of my own narrative. I am my own creator.

If you have multiple 'types, it's not always a requirement to experience all of them equally. It took me a while to unpack that I wasn't quote-unquote ""abandoning"" any types by not putting the same amount of attention into them as the other ones.
I'm still my other kintypes, but being Beastpup gives me the most species euphoria so ofc I embrace that the most as much as I can.

Nonhumans are here, even if you do not see us. We always will be. We are often hard to spot, but can be found doing all the things a human might.
A cat went to work at an event stall for a mental health service.
A massive sea serpent wanted to go to science class because it enjoyed it more than the rest of those living in its shared form.
The void sat down, huddled up in a blanket, to watch a tv show with its partners. It had to stop watching after a bit, but enjoyed spending time with those close to it anyway.
A wolf went to a psychologist appointment and gratefully drank the hot chocolate they were offered in the waiting room.
A shapeshifting being of pure darkness spoke publicly about trans rights in front of politicians and then went to the pride festival he helped fight to keep alive.
A dragon went to school so the others sharing his human body could have a break.
A manifestation of the fear of madness itself sat in the food court at the mall eating mochi and drinking tea while waiting for its friends to get back from shopping.
A witch drew a picture of his cardinal bird and shared the work he was so proud of with his friends.
A cockatoo borrowed the next book in his favourite series from the school library and almost couldn't wait the whole day to go home and read it.
An alien went camping and watched the birds outside and the way the wind made waves and patterns on the water.
A fallen angel went shopping for sunglasses to shield his eyes from how bright the sun was.
A harpy went shopping for new plants to look after. He named a few because he loved them so much, and sent pictures to all of his friends.
An anthropomorphic hedgehog traded Pokemon cards with his peers at school. He was happy with his collection.
You may not see us, and you may feel alone, but you are not. We are just hidden. We are in more places than you'd think, and in the places you'd least expect. We are complex, we are valued, and we are here.

one of the frustrating things about being fictionkin or fictive-- especially with a source that's very popular-- is that sometimes a popular fandom headcanon or fanon can distort your memory, or make you doubt your memory of the things that happened to you.
So this is a reminder for all my fictionkin and fictive friends.
Just because something's a popular headcanon--hell, even if something is actually canon to your source material-- that doesn't mean that's the way it happened to you.
Don't let outside influences distort what you know about yourself-- esspecially if they're upsetting to you.

> Looking for fictionfolk space
> Ask the admin if their group is for actual fictionfolk or KFF
> They don’t understand
> Pull out illustrated diagram explaining what is fictionfolk and what is KFF
> They laugh and say “it’s a good community space, sir”
> Join the community
> It’s KFF

Sometimes I feel like fictionkind are like a completely different community from the more well known otherkin and therians that are often viewed as more serious
I’m a dumb silly guy but my identity shouldn’t be painted in the same way. It’s like I have to act all stoic and contribute something to the group if I want my fictionhood to be taken seriously
My identity is alterhuman and I hate that I have to fight tooth and nail for that to be seen by the community
