West Wing, Season 4 "Election Night"

My children, when they turned 18 registered and voted. Like, they did it just fine. I'm astonished at how incompetent Donna is in this episode. Mail in ballots are especially easy to navigate because you aren't under a time crunch. You have the ballot, you can look at it for hours, days even and study it all you like. How she oopsied and voted for the other guy... I have no idea. And she's savvy enough to know the rank of someone in the military just by looking at their insignia. I have no idea how to interpret anything on a military uniform. Sheesh. I'd say Josh needs to find a better admin support person.

Will Bailey is definitely the best part of the episode for me. I just love that he's so passionate about his guy, or more so the idea the guy represented. I'm also reminded California is also the bluest state yet with the most concentration of Republicans. It's fitting Will's uphill battle for a Democrat in Orange County is depicted here.

Also, Debbie Fiderer, as portrayed by the indomitable Lily Tomlin. I love her. I love how she can just be funny but somehow control the room, at least in this episode, Josh. I really do love the character.

Okay i haven't posted about any of my fics in tumblr for a while but the brainrot hit and I'm thinking REAL hard about Klaus in Phoria/Fidere and the next part of the series

Just thinking about some uhhhh potentially pseudo-psychology stuff but particularly the whole thing of abuse victims going on to unconsciously seek out the same kind of hurtful love that they're used to

Klaus being almost uncomfortable with Johnny and Simon's kindness because time and again he's fallen into relationships with people who manipulate and emotionally damage him. Being faced with people who listen and don't just take and try to bend him is a strange and scary experience, especially when it has to include opening himself up as well.

........ but that's all I can say on the matter for now. Safe to assume that the next fic will treat at some heartstrings :D

goddamn for all its flaws, the west wing was perhaps one of the best-acted shows and (often) among the best-written

fucking POSSE COMITATUS

martin sheen’s president bartlet is some mix of:

- furious that he’s being forced into this choice with sharif

- aggrieved that it’s all being treated like a foregone conclusion

- devastated that this last (or maybe only) piece of humanity has to be ripped away from him

and he plays it with this casual demeanor as if he can deny reality. every response and question he brings to the sit room is like him playing the part, a figurative sidelong glance and a smirk like “look at these guys” to the audience

surely, this is the most absurd meeting i’ve ever sat in, he says

knowing this choice is one he was (probably) always going to have to make, given the state of the world

and perhaps it’s just that he couldn’t (didn’t have to) confront it until now

but every decision he’s made has been of this magnitude
