Fight Falls

My version

Mabel and Dipper are extremely codependent, and both are terrified of being alone

Their parents were emotionally negligent and spent all their time fighting with each other,

When the twins are sent to gravity falls, it isn’t just for the summer. Their parents just signed over custody to Stan because they were getting a divorce and neither wanted the kids 

The twins are a lot more streetsmart than in Canon and a lot less trusting they basically only trust each other, and eventually Stan, Soos and Wendy in that order 

They’re both a lot more willing to help out with the less than legal functions of the shack and have a lot looser morals

The twins eventually start seeing Stan the father figure they never had

Found family but you’re actually related 

In this, instead of being excited to meet Ford, Dippers openly hostile to him, because of the strain relationship with Stan

 after Northwest mystery Manor, Pacifica sometimes uses the excuse that the twins are her bodyguards so she can hang out with them 

Mermando runs away to gravity, falls to avoid his marriage to the queen of the manatees, and he and Mabel start officially dating

Mabel has a harder time getting close to candy and Grenda because she keeps trying to physically fight Their bullies and her violence scares them a little 

Stans even more over protective of the twins because even though they’re both tough as nails, they’re both very emotionally fragile

Ford eventually ends up over protective of all three of them

I love "i would kill for you" ship dynamics but what about "i would stop killing" ship dynamic??

I would lay down my sword for you. I would change my nature and go against everything i've known. I would resist the easy way out of solving my problems. I would give up the adrenaline of battle to stay by your side and make tea instead. I'm not sure I know who I am without a weapon in my hand because I've had to fight for so long but for you I'm willing to try and figure this out.

It must be hard. To put down your weapon that's protected you for so long. It's allowed you to stay alive it's kept you from getting hurt--physically and mentally. Because you've never had to worry about a real relationship if you think you'll be dead at the next battle. And you feel naked without it and it feels like you're ripping off an extension of yourself. Are you even whole without it? Are you worthy of being loved if you can't prove it by risking your life? And yet they've found someone who's asking them for something much harder than dying in battle on their behalf. They've found someone who wants them to live. And that's much more terrifying.

#i know this sounds like the 'bad guy falls for good guy' which can be fun but thats not what i mean #anyway. this wasn't quite zukka but i do think it aligns with my au of zuko not dying on the throne and sokka retiring his sword to paint #and living like piandao in the mountains. urging zuko to retire and zuko no longer needing fire bending and not knowing what to do with #himself if he doesnt have to fight #so he uses his bending to make tea instead :) #aka this is how divorced zukka can still get together #zuko being upset bc sokka chose work over them in the first place but so dodnhe #but he gets a second chance in retirement #if he can give it up

Fight Falls Prologue pt.1

The van was quiet Rebecca and Alex Pines always yelled when they were forced to either be in each others presence or pick the twins up from the principals when both happened at the same time it would be twice as bad they would yell well into the night usually locking the twins in their room (Dipper and Mabel shared the master bedroom and the house had two other identically sized bedrooms that had probably been meant for the twins when the house was bought but since their parents couldn’t even be in the same room without a screaming match that was never going to work) sometimes with dinner sometimes without and then the twins would get up early to try and sneak some food before breakfast if they were caught another screaming match would start about which of them forgot to feed the twins but the only sound in the van was Alex ordering a pizza

The twins had long ago mastered the art of silent communication it got called twin telepathy a lot and didn’t exactly help their reputation as creepy violent maniacs, you think we went to far? Dipper asked No that brat deserved it Mabel responded still both twins were scared by their parents unexpected behavior the second the van parked they were dragged out of their seats by their mother who then shoved every suitcase and backpack in the house in front of them and told them to pack

I’m not very good at writing but I’ve only ever read one good fight falls fanfic and it’s pretty different from what I have in mind for this au so here’s my best shot I guess

Jazz is wandering Gotham with Danny after their parents visited the city for a convention but left them behind in the excitement of one of their ghost traps going off on the other side of the country.

The hotel they were staying at kicked them out not caring if they had a place to stay or not, only caring that the source of money had left.

Jazz couldn't show how scared she actually was, not when Danny was looking at her with complete faith that she could somehow fix this.

How he managed to keep that faith after a day of jumping at shadows like they held enemies and vending machine food for lunch was a mystery.

She's tired, she's stressed, and she needs an adult.

Like an actual adult and not her much loved but very scatterbrained parents, Vlad did not count either.

Nightwing: *falls from great heights into nearby dumpster* ...ow.

The defintion of hell is knowing a show is incredibly well-received in its first season, but if people don’t become machines churning out tweets, content, and rewatching 24/7, there’s no likelihood it’ll get a chance to tell its whole story. This shit is madness. Shows in different genres shouldn’t have to pit-battle for dominance. First seasons are MEANT to be baselines establishing worlds and characters, not complete storylines. The idea that this golden age of television has turned into “get it done in one or get out” is revolting.
