Your father worked at Bon's Burgers for many years, so you were a regular there...and that's how you met Jack...even so, he didn't seem happy today- which was rare, like something bad had just happened, his eyes looked tired, his smile looked forced. he seemed to have picked at his fingers all night, his eyes twitched, and Felix wasn't around. neither his kids nor his wife. “Ah…my dearest, (name). how are you? Dear.”

You smiled at him “Hey Mr. Walten, how are you? You don't seem too well…” you spoke softly, placing your bag down in one of the booths.

He smiled faintly, it was a bit too forced and he seemed as though he was trying to hide his sadness "Ah, just busy with work, dear. you know how it is." he chuckled softly, his forced smile widened slightly. However, the smile didn't seem too convincing, his eyes still looked tired and he was still picking at his fingers.

You gave a simple “right.” And went off with your shift, taking after your father…

The evening was getting late and there were only a few more guest sitting around in the restaurant. Jack, however, still seemed quite unhappy as he was leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed. He seemed to be thinking quite hard about something.

You yawned while cleaning off the tables that were left.

A few more minutes go by. The restaurant is practically empty, only the late diners are still sitting at the last few available tables. Jack seems to notice you yawn and he gives a soft smile. "You know, there aren't many customer's out right now, I think you're free to go, dear."

“I'm fine…I like keeping myself busy, not much for keeping me alone with my thoughts” you say softly

Jack looks a bit surprised by this answer but nods. "Well, it's your choice dear. I wouldn't want to get in your way." he smirks, but his worried facial expression returns to his face as he goes back to leaning back on the seat and sighing.

You inhaled not taking this shit any longer. You slam the rag down on the table and walk over to him with a serious look.

Jack seems a bit startled by the sudden change in your demeanor and he looks up at you with wide eyes to see what's wrong.

You hugged him tightly, setting your knee on the seat to balance yourself. This sudden unexpected hug almost surprised Jack and he seems shocked and surprised by it at first. However, he didn't try to push you away and instead began gently and hesitantly hugging back. It seems that your surprise hug is working to lighten his mood as he slowly calms down.

“I'm not fucking around Jack, I know something is bothering you, I heard everything from Susan”

He's now startled again by your sudden use of bad language and he suddenly freezes up. He blinks his eyes in surprise and suddenly his facial expression becomes more serious. He seems as though he's ready for you to start yelling at him. and after that initial shock, he seems surprised by how much you seem to know about him. He clears his throat and tries to speak.

"Ah- it's just…just a few problems with work, dear." He tries very hard to say this in his most convincing manner.

“Bullshit. I care about you Jack…and if you care about me you'll tell me what's wrong.” You hugged him tighter

He sighs and seems as though he's about to give in to telling the truth, he hugs back and closes his eyes. It seems as though the sudden hug has softened his heart from stress. he takes a deep breath with a shaky breath and tries to speak.

"Ah- it's just things with Felix…things have been going quite sour between us recently, and then he got involved in a car accident which- well. killed my two youngest children…Edd and Molly and now he's blaming me for not answering my calls and calls ME the irresponsible one…"

You sighed, slanting your head on his shoulder “So that's what's been happening…you don't actually believe his story do you?”

He stays silent for a few seconds. Then he sighs softly and shakes his head. “No...No, of course not…I know that he was drunk and the accident was his fault, but…it scares me how mad he was at me and how he blamed me and- it just made me think that…maybe I'm an irresponsible person. and- and- that it was partly my fault they're..." He stops himself from finishing the rest of his sentence and stays silent.

“Not it isn't your fault, Felix can go fuck himself for all I care, he can go suck a dick.” You gritted between your teeth

He looks down at you and he smiled softly at what you've just said. The smile seems much more natural now and he seems to be starting to calm down.

“Thank you dear, and your are absolutely correct about that, he can go suck a fat one. It's not my fault but it's still hard to deal with. I don't know how this whole thing has been affecting me so much. it was just a few days ago too…I thought I'd be a bit better by now.”

“How's your wife?” You whisper, you stop hugging him and sit up, standing back.

There's a long pause as you ask this. Jack seems to tense up again, it's clear that the topic of his wife is another thing that's bothering him.

"Ah- she's been…she's been…a bit distressed by it all, but she's been trying to be strong for the sake of me and our oldest child...Sophie..." He looks down at the table again and sighs. The sigh is followed by silence. The subject of Jack's wife is another sore spot for him which is quite clear. He stays quiet while he stares at the table, trying to compose himself again and maybe push away the sadness he's feeling. He seems to be thinking quite hard about something and then suddenly he starts muttering something to himself, he mumbles so softly you can't quite understand what he's saying. it does sound like he's either arguing with someone or having an internal argument.

There was a storm coming. The restaurant was empty, and you were asleep in Jack's office. Jack had a red couch in his office that you fell asleep on.

Jack was working late again. He was at his desk with his back facing the door, and he was writing down some notes for something on a notepad. The storm was quite loud and he suddenly seemed to be listening to the loud thunderous rains outside. His back muscles were quite tense and he seemed quite focused on what he was writing. However, after a while, he stopped what he was doing and looked over at the door...where you were laying down asleep.

He was taken quite by surprise from you being here, but he smiled as he saw you. It's the kind of surprise that was happy instead of annoyed, which was nice for him. He quietly closed his notebook and set it aside before he quietly went over to you and sat down next to you on the couch, then he slowly laid down behind you and wrapped his arms carefully around you without waking you up.

He smiled softly as he felt you snuggled up in his arms, he felt happy to have your presence nearby, he just wish these recent events didn't have to happen. after a while, he decided to pull you closer and he gave a few soft and sweet kisses to the back of your head to try and make you even more comfortable.

“Sweet Dreams mi amor…”
