Can I request a headcanon for Sephiroth with a sweet S/O who’s able to comfort him when he’s down or feeling lost?

gentle hands carded through the thick grey strands of sephiroth’s hair, a subtle soothing mechanism you usually deployed whenever he felt upset like this. you couldnt hear his sobs, you couldn’t even feel the silent shake of his shoulders—only feeling the warmth of him on your shoulder while you held him. a rare occurrence.

feeling small wisps of his sighs on your back, you merely kept stroking his hair hoping he was finally calming down. being a SOLDIER—let alone being first class and the poster boy for shinra as he was dubbed ‘a war hero’ wasn’t easy, you knew that. sephiroth was strong, you also knew that. but everybody had their off days, even sephiroth.

it seemed like everything was only getting worse with the heightened emotions and hyper-vigilance they all had right now, genesis being MIA and now angeal going missing, too. slowly, it started to wear off on sephiroth knowing that both of his childhood friends had gone missing, shinra was counting on him and another second class SOLDIER to find his fellow comrades. life felt dull with all this work, and you knew it became too much when he had come home, dragging his feet with practically tears in his eyes when he saw you— patiently waiting at the table with dinner made as you greeted him with a small smile.

love was a foreign thing to sephiroth. sure, his fanclubs and paparazzi loved him as they followed the ‘classic war hero sephiroth’ around with cameras and photos to sign. but when he came home to you, with your sweet words and gentle touches, it’s like the burden of his armor fell apart at just a chaste kiss. he wasn’t a war hero when he came home, he wasn’t all these things people expected of him. he was your lover, your partner. he was sephiroth.

“you’re too kind.” he choked out, pulling you closer as he closed his eyes and savored the feeling— even for just a moment more.

you simply hummed, wishing him all the best. you hoped that when he thinks of comfort— he thinks of you. you wished him a clean home and a hot meal, knowing that although there is not much more you can offer, your hearts there.

as you felt his thumb softly swipe against the small of your back, all you could think of was him. you knew not much of sephiroth’s sorrows, only knowing that his mind plagued him with the terrors of his past.

he pleaded for the world, he pleaded for the unfamiliar, gentle comfort of a mother holding her first-born. he begged for that delicate embrace his whole life, and as he buried his head in your hair, he felt that feeling blossom in his chest.
