I find it crazy that CAs see the dream date and go 'omg canon' when Cloud heard her confess and was like OK but why are you being weird. She says she knows where they stand and isn't jumping for joy with whatever that is. 'Liking and... liking' as well, since the like like isn't mutual.

Aerith at 22 can't decide if she likes Cloud romantically or not, and can only muster a weak ass "he never gave me a reason not to like him" about Zack. Let's be real, this girl doesn't deserve either of them. Thankfully Cloud never had any interest in her, but Zack deserves so much more than her pathetic half hearted feelings when he literally died trying to reunite with her.

Tifa at 13 knew she was in love and wanted to be with Cloud for the rest of her life, stayed constant and true to her feelings and does everything to support Cloud without expecting him to return her love. She'd even go so far as to support him with someone else if that made him happy, but thankfully he made it clear she's the one he loves.

Cloud before he was 13 knew he wanted to be with Tifa, even though at such a young age he wasn't aware what he felt was love. He wants to be good enough for her to notice, and still feels that way as an adult.

Nojima, Nomura and Nobuo have released an interview talking about FFVII and specifically the theme song for Rebirth and what it means.

I don't want no more asks about what this song means. Nojima has literally said it's not a fucking love song.

Another thing I thought seemed interesting was how they talked about the vocalists. Nomura wanted a male vocalist for Remake and a female for Rebirth, but listening to him it kinda sounded like he had an idea to maybe do a duet for part three's theme. Maybe my wishful thinking, but imo it had a sense of balance to it. Not to mention Tifa's theme is actually composed as a duet between instruments. You have the low oboe and the higher violin that weave a story of parting and reuniting, so that also came to mind when I was watching.

I guess we'll see.

Anyway, NPtK isn't a love song. Hollow isn't a love song. Please stop romanticising and deluding yourselves over theme songs.

if i could add to your response to that ask, i don’t think there’s any reason for clotis to be nervous about how nojima would handle cloud and tifa even if he can be petty. he’s a cloti himself not because he has a personal bias, but because that’s just how the story he wrote goes. it’s not about preference to him but the narrative. plus with ff7 so far he’s only ever been petty about debunking shit takes about tifa. he’s GOATed for that 💯

Exactly. He writes cloti because that's the narrative he created. He also enjoys it. He originally wrote a simple scenario for AC that was between Cloud and Tifa. He wrote totp with Tifa's beautiful realisation she loves Cloud and wants to be with him for the rest of her life (and he literally said he was so proud of himself for her part of the novel too) and then he recently wrote Cloud's novella where he showed cloud did everything to be worthy of Tifa.

I just wanna confirm something. So I saw a video comparison of Cloud's reaction to his 3 potential date. he seems hesitate when Aerith and Yuffie asking him for date, to the point where both girls dragging him but he just goes along with Tifa without any problem.

so my question is, is there's a moment in Remake or Rebirth where Cloud saying no, decline or hesitate everytime Tifa said or suggest something?

Never. He's always eager to spend time with her and never refuses anything she offers. She's also really respectful to him and always asks if he'd like to spend time with her. She never drags him around and when she does take his hand at the GS, they mutually hold hands and walk forward together. When she hesitates he's always there to support and encourage her.

Yeah, that'd be Midgar blues, which they ignore because it didn't get a massive highlight. It exists and it's about Cloud and Tifa though, so 🤷

No promises is about Zack. Only the first part includes Cloud where it talks about how she didn't notice time passing until she saw someone who reminded her of Zack. The lyrics are so much more straightforward in JP btw. Yet again the English bastardised it.

hi, hope you are doing well. I noticed you are very well versed in the lore of ffvii, and I wanted to ask about Tifa, in rebirth she comment on how she always felt the need to be liked, and generally behaved in a way that pleases others. in other words internalize what she really think and feel and put on an act that suit the expectations of the other person. when she reveal that in nibelhime I thought yeah thats what we have seen from her thus far, but usually, at least in my knowledge people pleasing behavior come from low self esteem? What could have happened in child tifa’s life to cause her that supposed low self esteem? low self esteem can also manifest in perfectionism, and becoming an over achiever too, which we see highlighted in costa del sol. She was loved by her dad as far as i know? I probably don’t have all the infos here so im asking you, but also I might have completely misread her character

Societal expectations and internalised misogyny and sexism are to blame for her lack of self esteem. She grew up in a very repressed village where women go from their parents homes to their husbands and have no job besides being a wife and homemaker.

Tifa has higher aspirations and she feels pressure to repress that and conform to how the village expects her to behave. That makes her angry, which we see in ToTP when she gets letters and declarations about how she'll be saved by the boys and they'll take care of her like she isn't capable.

So part of her knows she's better than what she has, but she's been taught that's a bad thing, which makes her a bad person and a bad daughter. And that results in her modifying her behaviour to please others and keep her true thoughts and feelings to herself so people don't hate her, even though she's genuinely kind and thoughtful and there's no reason for anyone to hate her.

Tifa's psychology as a character is really interesting, grounded and relatable ❤️

I think so too. Tifa literally saw Claudia the day before and outed Cloud's reasons for leaving which Claudia was all "oooh" and looking at Tifa 🤣
