Alright impulse started Dresden files bc I bought one of the books and now im cured of my ennui

#this whole week I’ve had nothing I’m obsessing about. and anything I am I didn’t wanna watch #bc I do have things I love to watch #but anyways impulse bought the third Dresden files book bc one reddit post told me I kinda could start there #and then I figured since I finally got an ebook of undone (Karin slaughter) so that I could read the part missing from my physical copy #and so I’m not reading that book yet so I figured I’d watch the show. bc it’s a good way to motivate me to read a series #and yeah no I’m cured of any sadness #ignore the fact this show has only one season that’s thirteen eps or so #and it does have like. 2k on ao3 without crossovers but some of that is book so — I shall shop around for fic once I’m throughly abnormal #about the show #shut up sarah

I decided to give a go to @niennanir’s lovely print-your-own-fic recipe on my Inside and Out as a test run and I’m quite pleased with the results as a first pass :D

I wish I’d taken a few more process pictures but there was a slight lull as I had to go shopping for 12x12 cardstock lol, but! I do have a couple closeups/extras that I added for funsies :D

I went with freehanding the title and I think in the future I would opt to not do that lol, at least not without a printed template. That said, both LibreOffice and SAI refuse to recognize my SCII fonts >:0 If you notice on the first page, I used the Ace Attorney font in italic haha, it’s an okay alternative even if it’s not what I actually want |0 I am happy with the gold detailing tho :3c

I did have an unconscionable amount of fun freehanding the ship caption tho ahh <3 <3 Immediate happy stims upon completion, their names together look so pretty ♥ Credit to Zarla’s original minicomic on that one :3

I also managed to get the last sentence of the fic isolated on the last page thanks to the formatting haha ♪

I was also able to add a bookmark! Ma happened to have a couple very thin ribbons to choose from and red ended up complementing the green very prettily!

okay but it's sooo weird how we see certain interests as a sign of intelligence? like. several people commented on my Smartness bc of some books i got and like???? okay show me someone who isn't interested in space - this book is written Super Understandably. it's not very physics-y at all, not in a way you need to know physics beforehand. okay that story is from the 1930s but would a detective thriller (?) from now be less Intelligent??? why??? the fungi book i get somewhat but it's literally written like a novel you don't have to be super into fungi to read it. just. i don't think that comment would've come if i'd gotten an in-depth middle earth lexicon or had, say, developed an intense interest in the 2010s. idk. the silmarillion was harder to read than hawking's brief history of time. it's weird. i appreciate it and i am deeply obsessed with said books, but it's weird.

How do I explain the ways in which the bill origins fic 'A Romance of Many Dimensions' by haley3 rewired my brain without needing to give paragraphs upon paragraphs of context. The fic is something like 200,000 words long. Almost every single good moment calls back to things that are set up earlier in the fic
