Husband Oakenshield
Thorin had been in love with you for a long time, so when he finally had a home again, he wanted to propose
Despite facing orcs, dragons, and who knows what else, he was terrified to ask for your hand
despite being friends and lovers for years, he was afraid of rejection and he didn’t want to lose you
it got so bad to the point that he had the entire company on his back about it, trying to push him to do it
it wasn’t until Bilbo himself came up to the mountain for a visit and had a long talk with Thorin that he finally had enough courage
so finally he got to work creating a home for you and a bead for your hair
Kili nearly spilled the secret a million times, and he soon grew tired of how many times Fili would cover his mouth/kick him/ talk over him/etc.
once finished, the wedding bead was beautiful, hand crafted by him with the finest metals and inset with teenie tiny jewels
he 100% said something along the lines of “i could find no jewels that compare to your beauty” because he’s a big softy with a spot for romance
You had no hesitation in saying yes, and soon the mountain was filled with energy for the wedding
it was a beautiful and remarkable occasion, and not a single eye was dry at the ceremony
all he could keep calling you for the rest of the night was Queen Oakenshield
so we all know that Thorin is Big Rough Tough Guy™️, but with you he just m e l t s
like this man will literally become a class A simp for you once you’re alone
He’s a little possessive (not in the creepy kinda way, like in the holy cow she’s mine and i love her and i never want to let her go type of way)
still gets butterflies when he sees his bead in your hair
loves, loves, LOVES, being able to point you out to people and be like, “oh yeah that’s my gorgeous wife, my queen”
will call you “my queen” 24/7
PDA is a no no for Thorin, but in private man is CLINGY
like constant snuggles, kisses, just loves touching in some kind of way
100% complains when you both have to get up in the morning, snakes his arms around you so you can’t get up
has and will use the “I’m the king i make the rules” card
in public though, two words: HAND. KISSES.
will kiss your knuckles, your fingertips, etc. while he is holding your hand.
it’s his way of reassuring both you and himself that he is forever yours.
Also he learned his lesson about his anger once, and now whenever you both fight he is always the first to apologize
he just hates seeing you unhappy, so he will do anything to make it right.
Most of the time you two just communicate and make amends
Overall Thorin would just try his best to be a good husband
Father Oakenshield
Telling Thorin you were pregnant was…… a journey
He felt every single emotion within the span of like 30 seconds
You had to snap your fingers in front of his face because he had spaced out for so long
When he did come back to, however, oh how joyous his was
peppered you with kisses, asked a million questions, but especially became Over Protective Thorin™️
He had watched his sister go through 2 pregnancies with his nephews, but nothing could prepare him for his own wife carrying his child
do not expect to travel, work, or do anything other than relax and be loved by your husband for the next few months
Thorin will (gently) lose it if he sees you doing anything strenuous, and he will promptly stop you while rambling on and on about how you shouldn’t be doing stuff like that
after a while, you get tired of doing nothing and so you sit your husband down to explain that you will be careful but you cannot just sit around for the entirety of your pregnancy
he’s a little reluctant to agree, but your happiness is key, so he instead opts to just constantly be by your side to ensure you’re okay
if there is an emergency that desperately needs him, Fili and Kili are in charge of watching you
really they just offer you bad name ideas for the baby and keep you company
when it’s time for the baby to be born, Thorin does freak out a little bit
You’re in pain, his child is about to be born, he has no idea what he’s doing, and man’s is panicking a little bit
but when he holds your hand and watches you work to bring your child into this world, he is determined to be the best father he can be
your beautiful little child is healthy, and Thorin thought his face was going to break from how much he was smiling
The child is like his crowning jewel, and both of you love them with all your hearts
Fili and Kili are thrilled to have a cousin, and even Gandalf and Bilbo come to see the baby Oakenshield
The child will be so very spoiled growing up, with so many people loving on them and caring about them, but in all honesty you are grateful for such a large loving family
And Thorin claims he will be strong and will set rules and whatnot as the child gets older, but in reality the child has him wrapped around their finger
The child plays on his throne, has their favorite foods at all mealtimes, and has too many clothes and toys for anyone to count
You end up having to be the one to lay down the law in your household, but you take one look at your husband and child’s sweet eyes and you feel yourself melt
overall just a very happy and lovely family

Part 2: Chapter 13 -
Item: Suspicion
Conundrum (Definition): A problem or puzzle which is difficult or impossible to solve. (Noun / Origin: Pseudo-Latin / kuh·nuhn·druhm)

“Since when did you bring your suitcase?” I said as we both stared at the rectangular object.
“Since when did you bring your suitcase?” I said as we both stared at the rectangular object.
“I didn’t!” Kay exclaimed, “I went to put the stuff from my rucksack in the chest and it was just there!”
“Huh.” Was all I said, rather perplexed, as I kicked at the plastic.
Kay swatted my foot away with her own, darting her eyes back and forth between me and the suitcase, before quickly kneeling down and grabbing the zips. Pulling them around she then hauled the top half open, laying it down to reveal her belongings cramped inside. It was everything she had packed for the trip but had left at the hostel when we were sucked through the portal. Clothes, makeup, wash bag and books all piled up. The relief on her face was obvious when she pulled out her toothbrush and toothpaste, but all was forgotten as she snatched up a set of clean underwear and her pyjamas, sprinting out the door to the bathroom on the other side of the hallway. I snorted at her antics and knelt down myself, checking out what was there whilst I waited. Barely a minute passed and Kay had returned, stuffing the dirty clothes and underwear she had reluctantly been wearing since we got here under her bed.
“These are getting set on fire later.”
I laughed out loud, whilst also relieved that one of us could feel somewhat nicer. Bilbo had kindly offered us baths, which we desperately agreed to. We also recycled the left over water to wash our clothes in, but only the smell seemed to leave temporarily – the mud and blood stains had practically cemented themselves into the fabric. Standing back up, I checked the chest once again, seeing if anything had been missed in the dim candlelight. Not spying anything, I returned to the suitcase and unzipped the flap that was currently hiding half of Kay’s belongings. Lifting the material up, I was met with a familiar face.
Picking it up I flung it in Kay’s direction, watching in amusement as it bounced off her head, causing her to whip her head around, and we both watched as it landed on the duvet. Letting out an eager gasp, she leapt on the bed, snatching it up.
“HELLO KITTY!!” she shrieked. Embracing the teddy with a grip tight enough to strangle a man, she buried her face into the short felt fur. “Ohhh I’ve missed you so much.” She mumbled.
“Everything alright in there?”
We both froze at the sound of Bilbo’s voice calling through the door. Looking at the stuff that had appeared, I got to my feet as quickly as possible, despite my ankle, and beckoned for Kay to put the stuff back in the chest, which she began straight away. I turned towards the door and called out to Bilbo.
“We’re fine! Kay just uhhhh..-” I scanned the room, spotting the teddy on the bed, “She thought she saw a cat outside!”
It was silent for a moment before Bilbo responded.
“Ok then… As long as you’re both alright!”
“Yeah! Yea, it’s chill.” I went to go help Kay before he spoke up again.
“Chill?” He questioned, “Are you both cold? Don’t tell me I forgot to put your blankets back in there?”
I looked at Kay, who was busy gripping the chest in an attempt to stop herself from laughing out loud. I took a breath to calm myself.
“No it’s ok! We’re both fine, there’s nothing to worry about!” I called back, slapping Kay lightly on the shoulder when she snorted slightly.
“Oh ok then, call for me if you do need anything.” Bilbo replied.
We both called out our thanks as we listened to his footsteps fade away, and we waited a beat before speaking again.
“Why don’t you check your room to see if your stuff has appeared?” Kay piped up from behind me.
I shot up in realisation. “Oh yeah!”
Swinging Kay’s door open, I sped-walked to the other side of the hobbit hole, past a very surprised Bilbo as I ducked and weaved under beams and chandeliers. Barging into my room, I looked around for anything that could potentially hide a large and very overpacked suitcase. I rummaged through drawers, opened chests, and even stuck my head under the bed, but I felt disappointment dawn on me as I realised that nothing of my own had appeared. Feeling disheartened, I brought myself out from underneath the bed frame and sat slumped on the floor. Looking around for anywhere I could’ve missed in my search, nothing revealed itself, causing my mood to lower even further.
With a sigh, I decided to go with my last resort, and pushed myself to my feet. Opening the door, I trudged disappointingly through the house, ducking my head into each archway as I searched for our host. As I bent to look into the kitchen, I finally spotted Bilbo as he stirred his evening cup of tea.
Hesitating a little, I took a small breath before knocking gently on the doorframe. Though not gently enough apparently – the noise still sent a jolt through the hobbit, but he managed to gather himself soon after.
“Ah, Kate! I was just about to bring these to you two.” He gestured to two steaming cups of fresh tea on the table. “Thought you could use something to warm you two up.”
I felt a smile make its way onto my face at the adorable thought of him worrying about us, and I swiftly ducked through the arch.
“Oh, thank you!”
He pushed a cup towards me with a warm smile, taking his own cup as he sat down. Remembering what I came here for, I sat myself down on one of the small chairs. Placing my elbows on the table and resting my chin on my hands, I looked around nervously and hesitantly opened my mouth to say something. I eventually looked back at Bilbo, who was now staring curiously at my behaviour.
“I… don’t suppose you’ve seen anything a little strange appear out of nowhere?”
Bilbo blinked a few times before replying.
“…What?”
I shuffled in my spot as I thought of what I was going to say next.
“Ok so, really weird question, but,” I clasped my hands together and pointed two fingers at him. “Do youuu, somewhat, believe in magic?”
Bilbo just stared for some time, his eyes squinted in confusion, until he slowly began to nod slightly.
“I – I suppose, to a certain degree?” He replied with a strained voice. I took that as enough of an answer.
“Right. So I think that’s how, we got – you know..” I gestured around, “– here. Anddd, some of our stuff that we left behind may have also appeared –” I pointed at the table, “– here.”
“I’m sorry?”
I tried to come up with the words to explain, but when nothing came, I stood up from my chair and grabbed both mine and Kay’s tea.
“Follow me.”
Bilbo quickly scrambled up from his own chair, gripping his own tea as if it was all that was left of his sanity, and followed suit. As we neared Kay’s room, I turned to him.
“I know it’s a little much, but I wanna make sure it doesn’t seem like we’re trying to keep secrets from you.” I said in an attempt to reassure him.
He blinked up at me a little surprised. “Oh! Well uh, I’m glad to hear it.”
I smiled at him, of which he returned albeit a little wobbly, and I turned back around as we finally reached Kay’s door.
Passing Kay’s tea to Bilbo, I knocked on the wood. We both listened to the shuffling from inside, and the door eventually swung open. Kay grinned at us both, though she was soon distracted by the extra cup in Bilbo’s hand.
“Oo, you made tea!”
Bilbo went to pass the cup over, but froze halfway as he caught sight of what Kay’s fresh pyjamas.
“I uh, see what you mean by new stuff.” He said.
Kay looked down at her clothes, before sheepishly looking back up at us.
“Yeaaa, about that.” She began nervously.
“I’ve already began explaining part of it.” I intervened
Kay let out a small breath of relief and opened the door wider, gesturing us both inside.
“I guess that means we can show him?” She asked. I nodded.
“Show me? Show me what?” Bilbo exclaimed, looking between us a little fearfully.
“Nothing bad!” Kay tried to assure.
We brought him over to the chest and opened it up. The hobbit stared in wonder as I hauled the suitcase back out and Kay unzipped it. He took a step back slightly at the unusual sound of the zip, but was stepping back in half the time as the contents poured out.
“Are those supposed to be.. clothes?” He asked incredulously, kneeling down to join us. He eyed at us both with his hand hovering above the case, and went to pick up a top when Kay nodded.
The first half of the case was emptied, the clothes pile next to Bilbo growing as he inspected each piece with equal intrigue, though he had a different expression for each. Some were confused, like when he took a minute staring at one of Kay’s Batman t-shirts, but some were a little shocked, like when he unravelled a roll of fabric to reveal a lacy vest top, of which, in a flash, he had neatly folded up and placed on the pile. Luckily Kay had already stored away her underwear, which would’ve sent poor Bilbo into a coma if he had seen.
The hobbit soon moved onto the second half, using a zip for the first time to remove the material I had closed back up earlier. He opened the flap, but soon jolted backwards.
“What in Yavanna’s name is that?!” He cried, and I looked down to see he was pointing at a portable hairdryer.
“Oh that’s where I put it.” Kay said, picking the electronic up.
Bilbo stared with wide eyes, but it seemed that his Took side encouraged him to reach out at prod at the object. He tapped a fingernail against it, listening to the sound.
“What is it made of?” He pondered.
“It’s called plastic.” I explained. “You see anyone trying to invent it here, assassinate them. Immediately.”
Bilbo stared at me. “…Ok?”
He began to eye some other things, and picked out a sketchbook. He asked Kay if he could take a peek. Shuffling next to him, she took the sketchbook and flipped through the pages, stopping at the drawings she wanted to show.
Looking back down at the suitcase, I observed the objects left over, and saw a few things that would be unexplainable to anyone born in Middle Earth, such as a phone charger, and an electronic toothbrush. So whilst Bilbo was distracted, I zipped up everything and lifted it back into the chest, knowing we were too tired to even try explaining.
“Did you have any luck with your stuff?” I heard Kay from behind me.
I turned around and gave her an annoyed shake of my head. She pouted mockingly at my inconvenience.
“Is that why you asked if I had seen anything earlier?” Bilbo questioned as he helped tidy away Kay’s clothes into the chest of drawers adjacent to the bed. I nodded once again. “Well I can’t say I’ve seen anything I’m afraid.”
My shoulders slumped dejectedly and I picked up my tea.
“HA!” Blurted Kay.
I frowned in return. “You’re not the one who’s permanently dirty!”
“Well you’re saving Bilbo from turning his room into a hoarders den.” She retaliated.
“I’m not a hoarder! I’m –”
“A collector with a maximalist aesthetic.” She finished, “I’m well aware.”
“Plus, I haven’t brought any trinkets, so you can’t accuse me of that.”
“Yea but you’re a chronic over packer, so you would’ve done so with out realising anyway.”
I grunted a noise in frustration, taking a sip of my tea with a grumpy expression. Kay just laughed at my surrender, so I shuffled around to face away from her. Bilbo on the other hand was just switching his eyes between us, a weirded out look on his face.
“Well, it should come soon?” Kay suggested through her laughter, changing the subject in an attempt to get me to turn back around. “If my stuff’s here, then so should yours. Maybe it’s delayed?”
I perked up at that, an idea coming to mind, and I quickly spun back round.
“You went through first, then I did a little later, so that could mean the same for this!” I said eagerly.
Kay nodded excitedly in agreement.
“I’m sorry, went – went through what?”
We both froze as we realised Bilbo was still in the room with us. And that we had definitely not told him exactly what had transpired before we ended up in his garden. I turned towards him, my mouth slightly open, but nothing but a drawn out ‘uhhhhh’ came out. The longer we spent in silence the more unease we could see develop on the hobbits face. Kay turned back towards me, her face scrunched with uncertainty.
“I think we should tell him.” She said sheepishly.
“Tell me what?” Bilbo demanded, now visibly troubled at the enigma of a conversation going on in front of him.
I nodded at Kay, and we both faced ourselves, with serious faces, back towards Bilbo, who looked a little frightened at the sudden change in mood. Kay sat up straight, placed her tea to the side, and began to speak.
“We’re not f–”
She quickly doubled over with a shriek, her hands flying up to claw and grab at her hair. We watched in horror as she contorted, attempting to stop whatever was causing her pain. Bilbo and I were over in a flash, both of us calling out for her. I went to reach out, when her screaming stopped. But it wasn’t over.
She looked up at us with glassy eyes, her face strained from the pain and glistening with fallen tears. But I soon noticed that her hands were gone from her head and were not clawing and gesturing to her throat. Her mouth gaped open and shut, and we both realised that she wasn’t breathing.
I shot up in panic, crying out her name. I knew what to do if someone was choking, but Kay hadn’t eaten anything? She just couldn't breathe. Bilbo on the other hand, had scrambled to his feet in fright, too in shock to do anything. Though he didn’t get far, the rug underneath his feet giving way and he crashed to the ground with a thud. The noise from his impact did something – and Kay’s frantic ordeal stopped as quickly as it started.
It was as if the noise had snapped her out of it, as she now sat on the floor heaving, whilst watching Bilbo flail around on the floor, the rug still half-wrapped around his ankle. He eventually calmed down and pushed himself up from lying on his back into a sitting position, rubbing his lower back with a slightly reddened face.
I placed a hand on Kay’s back, lowering myself to her level where she had rested her forehead on her knees, her hands on the back of her head as she tried to calm herself down. I whispered, asking if she was alright. I got a minute nod in return. Bilbo crawled over, leaning down slightly himself, to see if he could peek at Kay’s face, then leaned back up to face me.
“What in Yavanna’s name was that?”

OKAY. First of the painfully bloated Jackson Hobbit Trilogy down, over three separate sittings because I was a) stuck at the university downloading a file for my first sitting b) so exhausted from my big trip I had to fall asleep halfway through the second sitting.
And I didn’t even watch the extended edition.
anyways as I recall this was the best of the trilogy though it’s already showing some heavy flaws. I often hear that like the main thing holding Jackson back was all the production drama, which I don’t doubt didn’t help, but lots of the issues I had are also some of the issues I have with his adaptations of the LOTR movies just taken to an extreme. probably because there’s so much more space to fill when you have to make three hobbit movies so why NOT add in a bunch of extra action scenes and battles. whatever was going on with thorin almost dying at the end is like the “aragorn falling off a cliff on the way to helm’s deep” thing amplified.
anyways time to sort through my notes.
The Stuff I Like:
- When they finally get to the beginning of the novel and have the conversation with Bilbo and Gandalf practically word-for-word? That was nice.
- They kept in the “That’s What Bilbo Baggins Hates” song which I’d forgotten about and was fun, and of course “Misty Mountains” works well and I liked hearing that as kind of the dwarves adventure theme thing throughout the movie.
- Okay a change I Did like was the additional focus on the dwarves and why they follow Thorin, and also distinguishing more between the dwarves when in the books it was kind of like... “Thorin is the king. Fili and Kili are young and interchangeable. Dori is the Hobbit babysitter. Bombur is fat. The rest of the guys are there.” Even though Dori as the Hobbit Babysitter got removed. Anyways stuff from the appendices like Azanulbizar as additional flavoring was I think a good addition. the “there is one I could follow... there is one I could call King” with all the dwarves looking to Thorin with respect was nice.
- Namedrops: Ungoliant! and also the origin of Golf, which is the funniest thing.
- The trivia section of this brought up that Orcrist belonged to Ecthelion which was honestly the highlight of the whole movie-watching experience for me! Because I don’t recall that ever being actually confirmed but it is my headcanon. Glad to see the representation for guys who stab a balrog with a spike on their helmets and backflip it into a fountain, killing the guy that killed one of my favorites in the silm. shoutout to ecthelion wish you got to come back too. you would have Handled it.
- All the Gollum Stuff was great. Both the riddles in the dark scene and the moment of pity.
- The addition of Bilbo talking about home, and how since the dwarves lost their homes he wants to help them, was I think really good. probably could’ve ended the movie there. but then. well. we’ll get there.
The “I Think You Had Good Intentions, I Just Don’t Like How This Was Executed” Stuff:
- oh man way more elaboration on appendices stuff than I think is necessary to the point that we’re cutting away from the book for long stretches of time. And I mean I always love bringing up more lore stuff! But it really makes the movie lose its focus.
- troll scene again gets extra battles in it instead of the dwarves coming in one by one and getting put into sacks. It also cuts out bilbo when asked if there was anyone else going “Yes! I mean no!” which I get why they did it but I did like that line. It also doesn’t have Gandalf mimicking the trolls to make them argue amongst themselves, though Bilbo taking on a sort of similar role is alright!
- I feel like when you’re in Rivendell you have the opportunity to add in little background easter eggs but they don’t deliver there’s just a bunch of weird statues of elf women standing there looking pretty. The closest thing they’ve got is what could be a Feanorian star but doesn’t quite look like it. I may be spoiled from rings of power which for all the criticisms at least does give me lots to look at and go “ooh silm reference”
- I Like Seeing Galadriel And Elrond. Every scene with them is enriched with the knowledge that Galadriel is his mother-in-law. I just really do think they take up a little too much time - some background for why Gandalf leaves later isn’t something I think is a bad addition but it just gets a little too much at times.
- Saruman’s comment of “I would think I’m talking to myself for all the attention he paid” reminded me a lot of my grandma talking about my grandpa. which is some new perspective on the guy.
- Some of the Gandalf-Bilbo stuff later is a little. like when Gandalf is telling Bilbo it’s important to know when to spare a life feels a little Too Much. also his comment to Galadriel about why he picked Bilbo like “perhaps it is because I am afraid... and he gives me courage.” why? he hasn’t met bilbo in years? it didn’t make any sense to me. though I get what they’re trying to do here.
The Stuff I Don’t Like:
- Radagast with the bird poop caked onto his face and the sled pulled by rabbits is what made my dad quit the Hobbit movies after the first one, and thus spared him from the rest, so I guess I can thank radagast for that. but not much else.
- They just have a casual afternoon sprint from the troll dungeon to rivendell for... some reason.
- anyways rivendell. there was no tra-la-la-lally-ing so what is the point of anything! and the elves were a little too stoic? they’re apparently vegetarians and playing peaceful songs? who are you guys trying to fool. I’ve read the Silmarillion. I know you guys are crazy.
- Elrond was out fighting orcs which felt a little odd to me. Probably because he’s normally a healer and supposedly in a time of peace, so I don’t see why he’d be going out himself to do this? It seems like more of an Elladan and Elrohir thing -- and, like, if you’re going to transplant Radagast from LOTR to the Hobbit you may as well do the same for the twins.
- Since I have been thinking so much about Galadriel and portraying Galadriel in adaptations lately I can probably say I don’t like what they do in later movies. but the main thing that bothered me here is that she has this moment where she’s talking to Gandalf and she just fucking vanishes like she can teleport or something?
- unnecessary action scene for the storm giants or whatever they are. why are they there. what are they doing. why.
- of course the goblins and orcs being seemingly different species when they’re supposed to be the same thing gets a point here
- legolas shield surfing down the stairs is OUT the entire company surfing down a mountain on a crumbling wooden platform is IN
- The Main Issue is this whole Orc Revenge Plot thing though. no idea what’s going on here so it’s going to get several little bullet points. It’s kind of weird like I get you want a bit more setup than until the battle of the five armies part where Gandalf is like “oh btw bolg is here. you know the guy whose father you killed” but. why azog specifically? why does it have to constantly derail the plot from the beginning? I feel like having the namedrop of Azog (or probably Bolg) by the Great Goblin would be enough setup for now instead of several different fight sequences with the orcs that don’t need to be there.
- okay like first of all when they run out of the mountain and gandalf’s like “the daylight will save us from the goblins”. in the books the goblins continue to fight them and that’s why they’re there for the out of the frying pan and into the fire part. but instead the daylight I guess stops them but... not Azog and co? Why are they seemingly immune to sunlight? They aren’t Uruk-hai?
- So the last part is the worst and here’s where there’s multiple points. First: throughout most of the movie they have Thorin generally willing to put himself in danger for various members of his Company, including Bilbo when he nearly fell off the mountainside, and saving him from the trolls, and such. But then when they’re all falling off the tree he just abandons them to go after Azog. which may be a “blinded by revenge thing” but I don’t love it. everyone watching him as he goes look just as confused as I was.
- and ever since I heard it was the ringwraith theme they use when Thorin goes after Azog it’s been bugging me a ton.
- Azog is like “leave that one [thorin] to me” but then about five minutes later “you there random orc bring me his head” HE CAN’T EVEN DO IT HIMSELF?
- Bilbo tackles an orc which is. weird. but only THEN do the rest of the company rush in to help out Thorin. What were they doing all this time? Some of them were falling off the cliff or whatever, but those that later charged the orcs sure took their time so Bilbo could have his Big Hero Moment he really does not need
- Eagles being summoned by Gandalf and then leaving without him giving so much as a “thank you” made the Eagles seem more like a taxi service than anything.
- anyways the Leap Of Bilbo (which is what I want to call it now. Bilbo’s Six Foot Vertical Leap, Beren-Style) gains Thorin’s respect, which doesn’t really happen until like after the barrels. and I do think it hurts their relationship development. Thorin respects Bilbo Now for the Leap Of Bilbo, and then I guess just continues to respect him a ton when Bilbo does canonical cool stuff, and then turns on him in the third movie. I think him just beginning to recognize Bilbo at the end of this (with the “you don’t have a home, so I’ll help you take it back if I can” speech, and recognizing he isn’t going to run away) and then really starting to respect him after the Mirkwood stuff would be a bit more natural.
- the Leap Of Bilbo makes him instantly thorin’s favorite when he wakes up he goes “the halfling...?” dude your people were falling off cliffs. you’re making no attempt to resist the fanfiction that’s going to come of this.
Anyways I think that’s everything I took notes on. I can already see where the problems are going to come in. and it’s just going to get worse from here. thanks for bearing with me.

‘’Warm Nights’’
Fili & Kili x Male (hobbit) Reader
Tumblr media
Word count: 2148
Warnings: polyamorous, no incest - issa fili x reader x kili, fluffff, cute stuff okay
It has been a few moons since the dwarves took their kingdom back and the rightful king under the mountain was crowned. You and your best friend Bilbo returned back to the Shire and resumed with patching up the house back after your neighbouring hobbits split all of your belongings between themselves thinking you two had died.
The thoughts of you two's adventures with the company occupied both Bilbo's and yours minds and the two of you often spent time talking about them.
To be quite honest you missed the company a lot, especially the two dorky princes. The three of you managed to bond quite strongly during your journey to Erebor. But you missed everyone else too. Though Bilbo gave you a lot of comfort and his company was very dear to you.
One night as you two were preparing the dinner you noticed Bilbo has made a lot more food than usual, almost too much. But you paid it no mind thinking the hobbit was feeling extra hungry that evening. After you finished up the many foods you helped set up the table.
Remembering you forgot to turn the light off in your bedroom you made you way towards it, and just as you passed by the entrance door to the house you heard a knock.
You looked over at the door in surprise, questioning, not expecting anyone that late. You turned towards the direction of the kitchen and called out for Bilbo, "Hey Bilbo, are you expecting anyone?" you waited for him to answer but he didn't make a sound, you figured he was busy finishing up one of the last few dishes he was working on and shrugged it off, walking over to the door and opening it.
"Who is it-," you didn't even manage to finish up your sentence before a swarm of dwarves fell right on top of you, making you fall backwards on your butt with all the dwarves landing on you.
"Y/nnnnn!~~" all the dwarves cheered your name when they saw you, hugging you tightly not bothering to get off you and almost squishing you to death. Bilbo watched the scene from the door frame with a warm smile plastered on his face. He knew they were coming but wouldn't tell you, wanting it to be a surprise, and oh what a surprise it was.
"G-Guys what are you doing here??-" you smiled in surprise at your friends, trying to hug all of them back when you realized who it is that attacked your small body by piling on top of you.
"We had to visit our favourite hobbits!~" Bofur cheered. "Bilbo didn't tell you?" Thorin added.
"N-No-," you looked over at Bilbo with squinty eyes and he rose his hands up in a defensive way, "I wanted it to be a surprise," he smiled, not regretting his decision one bit.
You wanted to be upset but for the love of it you couldn't, the fact that the company was back together once again was overjoying and you couldn't get the smile off your face.
You and Bilbo took your time to greet each dwarf separately, many tight hugs being exchanged and even some cheek smooches too. And after you all finally done your greetings you and Bilbo lead them all into the dining room which was swarmed with foods and drinks. Many dishes, pastries, all sorts of drinks and desserts graced the table in plenty and you all sat down at the table. The dwarves wasted no time digging right in and soon enough cheerful singing filled the air, all of you joining in, and celebration took over the whole room.
After the lengthy dinner and many songs sung you all took it onto yourselves to clean up and then moved to the living room to share tales of the time you all spent away from each other. Stories of your adventures on your journey to the mountain finding themselves there as well as you all reminisced over the moments shared together.
You spent the rest of the night like that, just hanging out and chatting and when the time came to go to bed Bilbo helped settle everyone into their respective rooms for the night. You so happening to end up, due to the lack of rooms with a one-person bed, sharing a big one with the two princes and him totally accidentally ending up in a big one with Thorin.
The three of you slowly made it to your assigned room, chatting along happily as you walked.
As you got in, the princes started to take off some of their, now unnecessary, layers of clothing to get comfy for the bed and you took that opportunity to claim your spot on the bed.
"I call dibs on the middle!" you chirped cheerfully and catapulted yourself onto the bed, claiming your spot in the middle of the big bed, hugging the extra pillow you brought along.
The two chuckled at you as they put their clothes on the chair next to the wall of the room.
"Works for me," Fili grinned as he took off his boots.
"Me too," Kili smirked as he jumped on the bed as well, landing half-way on top of you, almost knocking all the air out of your lungs, and hugging you tightly.
You chuckled through your coughs and hugged him back, "Dear Lord, Kili-"
He just grinned cutely and so you couldn't even scold him, and just as you recovered from Kili's landing on you you got struck by another one, Fili hugged you just as tightly, snuggling into your body after the jump.
You smirked happily and pulled them both into a tight hug, getting back at them for the jumps.
They both let out gasps from being squeezed but you were gentle on them soon enough.
Brothers chuckled and you did as well and you all fled under the covers, the two of them sandwiching you into big warm hugs, which you very gladly returned.
The three of you shared the comfort of the quiet moment just hugging and being happy to have each other around once again, your heart feeling like it will burst out of your chest. To be quite honest you shared more than just very strong feelings of friendship towards the two, but you never acted on it, both because you didn't want to ruin the friendship but also because you loved both of them equally and you just couldn't pick, you didn't want to anyways.
"I missed you guys so much," you snuggled into them, making sure to grasp them both in your embrace.
"We missed you too," they smiled, each planting a kiss on your cheek, Fili on your right and Kili on your left.
You blushed through a smile and smooched the tips of their noses softly, returning the kisses.
They grinned and rested their heads on your shoulders, their faces almost completely in your neck, so close you could feel their warm breaths against your skin. It made you blush lightly.
"How long will you be staying? I hope you are not leaving tomorrow already .. are you?"
"No, we're not. We'll be staying for a couple of days," Fili smiled at the worry of departure in your voice.
"You're not getting rid of us that easy," Kili added with a grin and moved himself more up and closer to you, his face now halfly touching yours, hugging you tighter.
You chuckled at his words, "I better not," you added with a grin on your face, though blush spread across your cheeks once again because of how close Kili's face was to yours.
Fili stayed on his spot, his head resting on the spot on your chest next to your shoulder, listening to your heartbeats.
He could hear them speed up every time one of them would move closer or even speak. He found it curious, he didn't understand why it would do that, after all there's no way you'd feel the same as him, same as them.
See, the brothers talked after they took their kingdom back over and after things settled down. They've noticed each other's longing gazes whenever the situation would calm down or the conversation died out. They've noticed both of them were missing something, or rather someone. But, seeing they've both been in love with you they decided they would, with your blessing of course, either share or have neither of them be with you. Though the subject came hard to open and discuss once the three of you finally met again.
Fili quietly took your hand in his and held it gently, playing with with your fingers.
Your heart immediately picked up as your eyes shot a gaze towards the blonde dwarf, you gave him a warm smile, hiding the blush that was slowly spreading across your cheeks though the darkness of the room hid it well enough already.
Kili looked up between the two of you, and took your other hand in his, holding it to his chest and kissing the back of it sweetly.
Your gaze now fell at the brunette who was smiling at you already and your blush darkened and you smiled even brighter, snuggling into the two of them.
"Hey, y/n.." after a few moments of silence Kili suddenly spoke.
"Hmm?" you smiled at him, turning your attention to him.
"There's something we'd like to tell you.." Kili continued and Fili's eyes shot at him quickly, not expecting him to open the topic on the first day but also understanding that he can't not be with you for another minute because he feels the same.
"What is it?" you asked with a smile, hoping it's nothing bad.
"So uhmm… I-I don't know how to start but uhmm…" Kili started, now not being sure how to spill their hearts to you.
"When we took back Erebor w-we realized something uhmm-" Fili tried to help, "We don't know how you would feel about it but we have to ask-." You looked between them as they spoke, waiting patiently for the princes to gather up their courage and get to the point.
"Would it be alright if we courted you?" Kili finally blurted out, all three of you now sitting up half-way.
"Both of us, together-" he added with a hopeful smile spread on his handsome face.
You looked at the two in shock, eyes wide and words not leaving your throat. You couldn't believe this was happening.
"W-We know it's weird but.. but we both like you-" Fili started.
"Very much," Kili added.
"And we couldn't come to a decision so, if it would be alright with you-" Fili looked up at you, hopeful smile resting on his lips as well  as the question hanged in the air.
It took you a while to break out of your shock, eyes darting from one prince to the other. But after a few long and torturous moments your brain finally started working again and a quiet "Y-Yes-" left your lips through a breath.
"D-Did you say 'yes'?" Kili couldn't believe his ears.
"Y-You accept our courtship?" Fili questioned, disbelief residing within him as well.
Big smile made it's way on your lips and you nodded your head vigorously before throwing yourself onto the brothers squeezing them into a big and tight hug.
They cheered happily and quickly returned, stuffing their faces into your neck and chest, hugging just as tightly.
After very extensive hugging session the three of you laid back down, now snuggling even closer to each other, the two of them each holding one of your hands in theirs.
"I love you guys," you exhaled happily, snuggling further into the two princes, "I have been in love with you two since the journey as well."
That made their hearts melt a little knowing you felt the same as them, and what a relief it was too.
"We love you too," they replied in unison with warmth both in their voices and in the smiles spread across their lips, snuggling right back.
Your heart could explode from all the happiness it felt at that moment.
The happiness grew even stronger when Fili propped himself up on one of his elbows and leaned in placing a gentle but passionate kiss on your lips, followed by Kili who did the same with a big grin on his face. You gladly returned both, blushing like crazy. The two chuckled at your red cheeks and proceeded to kiss them, each the one on their side, before laying back down and throwing their arms around you.
The three of you laid there like that, snuggled against each other in the warmth of the bed and each other's embraces, all three of you slowly drifting off to sleep.

TCATC Chap. 21; Death is coming
*Author’s note*
Okay guys this is the last chapter for the DESOLATION OF SMAUG, the next set of chapters will be for the Battle of the Five Armies and then some events afterward. In total I’m thinking this story might be about 34, possibly 35 chapters before finally going into the events that happen in the LOTR. I’m also throwing in the air writing some inbetween stuff, individual oneshots that’ll take place between the two series but we’ll see. For now enjoy this last chapter of the DOS.

Laketown grew silent as most of its inhabitants were either settling in for the night or already falling asleep, while others were just finishing up their shops and chores for the day.  Bain had returned to the house, however their father was not with him.
“Bain where’s Da?” Sigrid asked.
“We were ambushed by the Master’s guards. He told me to hide the arrow and….they must’ve got him.”
“Is Da going to die at the Master’s hand?” Tilda asked fearfully.  Sigrid knelt down to her sister’s height and reassured her.
“No. No we can’t think like that. Da is strong. Both he and aunt Hela are strong. If aunt Hela can continue to fight off whatever is wrong with her, Da will come back to us. They’ve known and trained together for a long time. He’ll find a way back to us.” She stroked Tilda’s hair and gave her a kiss to her little sister’s forehead.
“Laddie, we could use some extra help over here.” Oin called out to Bain.  Bain turned towards them before turning to Sigrid.  She nodded to him and he trotted over towards his aunt’s room.
“What is it you need?”
“We need more cool water to bring her fever down.” The elder dwarf told the young man.
“Curses where is Bofur with that blasted weed!?” Kili exclaimed angrily.
“He better hope he didn’t get himself lost.” Fili stated as he kept dabbing away at Hela’s forehead.  Suddenly her eyes shot open and she let out a panicked gasp.  Her eyes still that same haunting color, but now her fingers had fully gone black.
“Hela!” the young princes exclaimed.
“Sigrid……” Hela spoke in that same growl-like hollowed voice. She pushed herself off the bed and left her room.
“Aunt Hela!”
“Hela lass you need to keep resting!”
“Sigrid!” she exclaimed.  Sigrid who was outside calling for her father, was oblivious to the danger that was walking above her from the neighboring houses.  That’s when the dwarves also began to notice just above their heads, the roof was starting to creak.
Suddenly an orc appeared before Sigrid.  She let out a terrified scream but before it could harm her, Hela stepped forward and gripped the orc’s throat with her right hand.  It thrashed around as she began to raise it up like a ragdoll, thrashing and snarling.
As she slowly raised her left hand, it began to glow black with silver rims and she placed her hand over the orc’s face.  That’s when it suddenly let out an agonizing scream before it went limp in her hand.  She tossed it over into the lake like it was nothing before growling to Sigrid.
“Go!” Sigrid immediately followed her aunt’s instruction and closed the door.  Soon more orcs came running up towards the door and that’s when she let loose her Celestial magic.  Black and silver beams of Celestial magic shot at the orc’s however unlike before when she would use these powers they would toss them aside or knock them unconscious, this time her magic actually cut through them like swords.
Slicing them in half or relieving them of their limbs or heads. Whatever was happening to her, her powers were enhanced.  However this feeling that was overcoming her was of pure bloodlust and a need to take a life, whether it was an orc or not.
And she loved it.  Seeing the life drain from their eyes as her powers caused a quick and easy death.
That’s when the sound of Sigrid’s and Tilda’s screams pierced out of the house.  Hela then obliterated the door with a single punch before seeing the chaos that ensued inside.  Fili, Kili, Oin and Bain were holding off a few orcs while Sigrid and Tilda hid underneath the table.  Hela went to send off a powerful wave of Celestial magic, powerful enough to kill everyone in the room.  But she let out a scream as she collapsed and her breathing became heavy again.
“No! I won’t….let you hurt them!”
‘This is your power. No one can stop you, not even these insignificant orc pawns. You know you have the power to destroy them all with a single flick of your finger.’
“My friends…..my children. I won’t AHHHH!!!” she held her head in agony as she rolled onto her back.  Which gave an orc the advantage to try and end Hela’s life.  It pinned her down and raised its knife ready to strike but before it could attack, a knife struck it in the back.  It dropped its dagger before the knife retracted and it collapsed to the floor dead.
Through whatever vision she had, Hela could see it was the red-haired she-elf Tauriel that had saved her life.  She gave a quick nod to the Celestial before gracefully spinning around and attacking a couple more orcs.
From a hole in the ceiling, Legolas also joined in the fight. First using his bow to disarm it and sending it to the ground before taking out his daggers to finish it off.
Everyone was working together to fend off the orcs, Tauriel gracefully using her daggers as a momentum to fling herself at any orc that came close before finishing them off with a stab they didn’t even see coming, or allowing them to just walk into her blade.  While Legolas forced the orc’s to use all their strength in attacking him, tiring them out before finally finishing them off.
Fili and Kili bravely defended Bard’s daughters because they knew they were important to Hela, and they knew she would never forgive them if anything happened to those girls.  They fought using whatever they could from the bench to even pots and their own brute strength.  Oin and Bain worked together in fighting off the orcs, Bain would knock down whatever orc was coming from behind Oin that he couldn’t hear, while Oin fought off any orc with his bare hands.
As Tauriel held on orc against her dagger, Hela suddenly appeared and stabbed the orc just above the ribs before collapsing in agony. Tauriel quickly knelt down and observed what was wrong and her eyes widened.
“A dark spirit calls to her.” She whispered in Elvish. Remembering their conversation days ago when she was taken as prisoner before the company of Thorin Oakenshield came into their possession.
The last orc that managed to escape, quickly bolted outside, hopped over the porch and landed on a boat and alerted Bolg.
“Oakenshield has gone!”
“Fall back! Regroup at the bridge!” soon the rest of the orcs that were spread out over the town followed Bolg’s command.  The next thing the orc on the boat knew, a body came down sending him upwards only to meet with daggers at his neck, while his body fell back onto the boat.  Those daggers belonged to none other than Legolas Greenleaf.  He uncrossed his daggers allowing the head to drop into the lake like a rock and he watched as more orcs ran away from the town.
Inside Bard’s house the place was in ruin but everyone was still in one piece.  Bain looked around the house in awe.
“You killed them all.”
“There are others. Tauriel, come!” Legolas told the boy. Tauriel looked up at her prince with worry before turning back to Hela.  Hela now just laid there motionless as Oin, Fili and Kili hovered over her.
“We’re losing her!” Oin desperately said.  Tauriel was at a stand-still.
“Tauriel.” Legolas softly commanded her.  Tauriel walked over to Legolas and said to him in Elvish.
“I know we don’t want to help the dwarves but what of the Celestial? You sense it as well as I.”
“There is nothing we can do for her now Tauriel. She’s too far gone. Even with our help.” Legolas told her.
“If you elves are finished talking in your secret language, you might want to at least look at Hela now.” Fili exclaimed.  When Legolas and Tauriel turned around their eyes widened in fear.
“I found it! I finally found the Athe—Durin’s beard……” Bofur said as he came barging in the house but stopped and his face turned to pure horror.
Hela was levitating just a few feet off the ground. Her hair was standing on end, every strand of hair gently waving like a banner across the sky.  Her eyes were now as pitch black as the night itself.  A fire surrounded her as her hands glowed her own Celestial light of black and silver.
She only stood there for a moment of silence.  Bard’s children cowering in fear at the dark presence that now held their aunt prisoner.  Fili, Kili and Oin standing in front of the children trying to protect them even though they had no way or even an idea of what they could do.  Finally she spoke in the demonic voice once more, however this time there was no trace of her own voice.
Tumblr media
“It has begun.” She spoke in Black Speech.  The tone of which she spoke in was unlike how the Orcs spoke, this radiated a pure, unholy evil.  “The East will fall. So shall the Kingdom of Angmar rise. The time of the Elves is over.” As she spoke, the corpses of the orcs slowly began to rise from the ground.
Bofur quickly joined up with his friends and helped shielded the children from this horrifying sight.  Their mouths gaped in horror and shock for never have they witnessed such an unholy act as the dead being raised.
“The Age of Orc has come.” The voice using Hela’s body finished with a malicious smile. Lifting her arms up and with a flick of her left wrist, like puppets being pulled on a string, the orcs reanimated to life.  Snarling and snapping their jaws.  Suddenly something glowed across both Fili’s and Kili’s forearms.
Beyond their own control they felt and saw as their arms raised up and crossed over each other’s and each Celestial gem glowed as bright as a star.  The orcs dropped back dead to the floor while Hela’s arms were forced behind her back. The dark deity possessing her arched Hela’s back as it let out a piercing roar.
‘Accept their power less you wish to be burned by their magic.’ A male’s voice spoke in both Fili’s and Kili’s heads.  They looked down at the gems to see all of them glowing brighter and brighter as they felt their skin already starting to burn. They turned to each other and nodded. ‘Grant their spirits to use your voices. And leave the rest to them.’ The voice said again.
“YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER MY DAUGHTER OF DEATH! SERVANT OF MORGOTH!” Fili spoke up first.  His voice melded with a warm, older woman’s voice.  The dark deity snarled and tried to free itself by using Hela’s magic but they were barely able to come forth due to her not tapping into her true strength. All the darkness controlling Hela could do was writhe and snarl.
“Y OU. ARE. NAMELESS!” Kili spoke up having a group of male voices echo his own.  “FACELESS!”
“FORMLESS!” Fili’s voice spoke again, this time two different women’s voice spoke up along with one of them sounding almost like a child. A groan came out of Hela’s mouth as her head limped backwards.  Bofur and Oin moved the children towards the knocked over table and they all hid from whatever magic could potentially shoot out from Hela’s body.
While Legolas and Tauriel stood there in both fear and awe. Seeing these dwarves being able to withstand the raw power of a Celestial and standing up to the dark spirit of Sauron at the same time, in a way it earned them their respect.
“NOW GO BACK TO THE VOID. FROM WHENCE YOU CAME!!!” all the voices spoke from the mouths of the Dwarf princes.  The dark deity let out one last roar before a dark shadow shot right out from Hela’s back.
A flash of light came into the house.  A light so bright that it was like seeing a bolt of lightning hit the ground.  The gauntlets dropped from both Fili’s and Kili’s forearms and they let out a gasp at the sudden departure of the power that they had been exposed to.  Hela then dropped to the ground with a soft groan and lay there unconscious.
The black veins finally disappearing, her charcoal black fingers returned to their normal skin color.  Even her breathing was once again soft yet normal.  All that came off her body for a brief moment was the black celestial magic surrounding her, crackling like embers over a fireplace.
Bofur, Oin, and Bard’s children slowly peeked out from over the table and saw Hela lying on the ground, while Fili and Kili were on their hands and knees trying to regain their breath.  Tilda was the first to run over to her aunt.  Sigrid fearing that whatever held their aunt could still be there, she pleaded for Tilda to come back.  Tauriel stopped the young girl from getting any closer until Legolas checked on her.
He checked her pulse and could feel the steadiness of her heart beat and could see that at last the darkness had been expelled from her mind.  He turned to Tauriel and nodded softly.
“She will live. She just needs rest.” Tauriel assured them.
“Go after the orcs Tauriel, I will settle things from here. Hurry.” Legolas ordered her in Elvish.  She nodded before racing out of the house as fast as she could.  Bofur and Oin ran up to the young princes and helped them on their feet.
“Are you lads alright?” Oin asked.
“Yeah. Yeah we’re—we’re fine.” Fili replied rubbing his head.
“Except for the slight burning on my arm but other than that, yeah I’m fine.” Kili responded.
“What was all of that? I know I took a bump to the head but I swear on Durin’s name, I thought I saw some sort of shadow come out of Hela’s body.” Bofur said.  Legolas didn’t speak a word to them as he picked Hela up and held her in his arms.  Bain escorted him to her room so that she would have a more comfortable place to recover and rest in.
As Legolas set her down and even stroked the white strands of her hair out from her face, he saw Hela’s eyes slowly began to open and her head very slightly turned towards him.
“Legolas?” she softly whispered.  Legolas placed a comforting hand to her shoulder as he told her softly.
“Rest now, Last of the Celestials.” Just before he could take his hand back, he felt her softly grip his hand in his.  Through her faint and tired eyes he could see that she was observing him curiously like this was the first time seeing him (even when they both knew it wasn’t).
“My little Greenleaf of the Wood?” she asked faintly. At hearing that nickname, his blue eyes slightly widened.  Not in offense or fear, but in shock.  No it couldn’t be.  “My love that I loved more than anyone….more than life.” Hela continued to whisper.  “Your eyes have grown cold and hard as ice in my parting……and your father’s even colder.”
Hela slowly raised her other hand and gently placed it over Legolas’ heart.  A single tear fell down her cheek as she whispered again.
“Can you ever forgive me?” immediately after saying that Hela exhaled softly and fell fast asleep.  And for the first time in a long time, Legolas’ hardcore exterior broke as he looked down at Hela.  His eyes morphed from the harshness of a man, to the timid sadness that a small child would show, his lips slightly parted in shock.
For Hela had allowed his own Mother to speak to him.
A secret tear fell down his face as he gripped Hela’s hand. He didn’t know if she was still inside Hela but he told her in Elvish.
“Ú-moe edhored, Naneth.” He kissed Hela’s forehead and forced himself to leave the spirit of his Mother.
He walked out of the room and when Bard’s children and the dwarves saw the Elvish prince leave Hela’s room Bain asked him.
“Is she alright now?” Legolas paused at the door and spoke not a word for a moment.
“She is a sacred deity. The Last of her kind. Ensure that her mind does not return to the darkness.” He spoke before finally leaving the home.
“I never understood why Elves must always speak in riddle-like statements.” Kili muttered to Fili who nodded in agreement.
“I’ll check on the lass.” Oin said as he walked towards Hela’s room and gave her a once over.  He first felt her forehead and could already feel that her temperature was not as hot anymore.  Her chest gently rising and falling in a steady pace, no staggered or choked breathing. He then gripped her wrist to check her pulse to find it was now steady.
“How is she?” Bofur asked as he came into the room.
“So far everything seems normal.”
“I’ll take the first watch over her.” Bofur offered.
“Aye. Let me know if anything changes.” Bofur nodded and Oin walked on out as Bofur pulled out the chair and sat by Hela’s bedside.  He looked down at her still hand and reached out to take it.
“You really had us frightened there lass, the lads and those children especially. They look up to you yah know. Fili and Kili. You three really have become like siblings, they are willing to do anything for you. And I know you’re willing to do anything for them. So—if you can……come back to us. We’re lost without you our bonnie Hela. And…..it would break all our hearts if you didn’t return to us from—wherever your head took you. Whatever dark presence filled your head.”
As Bofur continued to keep watch over Hela, he looked up as he began to hear the sound of a hurricane coming from the mountain. Having heard the tale many times before throughout his entire life, hearing it now was nothing compared to how the tales and songs described this sound.  Suddenly Hela let out a gasp as she shot up from the bed panting as if she had awaken from a bad dream.
“Hela! Oh thank Durin you’re awake!”
“Bofur…….” She said fearfully. “He is coming. Smaug is coming!”

Multi-Dimensional Pt. 5
Tumblr media
In which you have a genius idea to take these suckers out, you accidentally do something you’re not supposed to, and you take the taller bit of your friends out.
----
And then, you realize, that it's getting deeper into October.
As it got deeper into October, the dwarves and hobbit remain in your house. It's been a total of 2 1/2 weeks, now, and you can tell they're getting antsy from staying in one place for so long.
Like, around halloween time.
An idea strikes you in the head like a bag of bricks, and right away you realize that you're a genius.
You're sitting on the couch with Bilbo, Oin, and Bofur when the lightbulb goes off in your head suddenly, and once it does you hop to your feet and run upstairs at top speed, successfully baffling everyone idly watching the nature documentary you put on.
You pass Dwalin and Balin while you zoom to your bedroom, and when they see you run past them like freaking Speedy Gonzales they're both super confused.
Right away you grab your laptop off your bed and pull up a window.
The keys of your compute clack softly while you type in your town as well as 'Halloween Festival' and the first few results as well as images on the Google engine prove your theory.
Every year here people dress up in advance and celebrate throughout the duration of the week leading up to it. Of course, the trick-or-treating only happens on the day of, but there are a plethora of other things for people to do during that week.
People dress up, children go on field trips, there's a festival, and even the grocery stores have little events they put on to promote their business.
You've never really gone before since crowded places aren't the most comfortable for you, but you actually feel a little giddy about taking them all to see the town with you.
Right away you know you're going to have to buy them all costumes, but for the last week you've been pet sitting this rich couples Rag-doll cat, Princess, and your going rate is $18/hr for a week... Do the math ;).
You're going to get paid later in the day today after you drop her back off at their house, and that's not even accounting for the other animals you've been watching for varying amounts as well.
So, essentially, you're gonna be perfectly fine financially.
Anyways, as soon as you're done doing your little bit of research there on your computer you close it and leave your room again, hopping down the stairs with a big bright smile on your face.
When you reenter the living room, everyone is gathered there and looking at you expectantly.
At first, you don't do or say anything since you're super confused, but when the silence begins to drag on for too long you ask hesitantly, "Uh... Is everything alright? What's going on?"
"Well, you left to your room very quickly." Bilbo comments, standing up from his spot on the couch, "But from the smile on your face, I'm assuming it wasn't because of anything bad?"
You nod your head and sigh, leaning down to pet Mittens who is rubbing herself against your legs, "Yeah, everything's fine. It's great, actually." You pause for dramatic effect, then add, "I just figured out a way to take all of you out! Like, to see the town and stuff!"
"You have?" Thorin asks, raising an eyebrow skeptically.
"Mmhm!" You stand up straight and nod your head quickly, bouncing on the balls of your feet, "See, I figured I'd probably be able to take you and maybe Kili, Bofur, and Dwalin out at some point... like, if some of you were to groom yourselves different or wear hats...," once more you stop your speech and realize that may be offensive, "N-Not that I think there's anything wrong with how you look-"
"Nobody is offended, I'm sure. Go on." Thorin urges, amusement present on their faces from your sudden frantic backtracking so you don't offend them.
"R-Right, uh... anyways, you guys are taller so I knew I could probably bring you along sometime, but I wasn't sure how to get everyone else to come along, and then I realized that this next week is the week leading up to halloween!" You say it like it will answer all their questions, forgetting that they probably don't know what halloween is.
Silence passes by for a few seconds as they wait for you to go on, and when you don't Kili asks, "What's 'halloween'?"
"Oh, yeah, it's like, a holiday where children dress up and go to peoples houses to get candy. And when I say dress up, I mean in costumes." You rub the back of your neck while you explain and add, "In my city, the place we are now, we celebrate throughout the whole week. There are games, festivals, and lots of events... and there are people running around in masks all of the time. So I can get some of you costumes and then I can bring you all along!" Your smile returns as you pick apart the details, and it seems your excitement is contagious.
"Wait, so we will get to walk around the town and see other things?" Nori questions, looking over at his brothers with a smile.
"Yeah, but I gotta get you costumes first. Like, ghosts and some masks of different things. But if we wanna make the most of our time then I should probably go now."
You turn after that and go to the counter to grab your purse, pausing when Balin asks, "So it's a holiday where people run around in disguises, getting candy, and playing games as a community?"
Once again you nod your head, turning around to look at him with the same bright smile on your face.
"So, anyone can be anyone?" The older dwarf asks, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Yeah, pretty much." You look down and go through your purse, making sure everything you need is in there before walking over to put on your tennis shoes.
"Even the man who was here the week before?"
Now that certainly gives you a pause.
Before you were never worried about it, but now with what's happened with him, you aren't so sure that it's so safe anymore.
"Um... yeah, I guess." You'd rather not think about it, so you start to tie your laces up. "I'm sure it'll be fine."
"Well, you already said that you can bring some of us, so why not do that now? Just to make sure?" Balin asks, though it's more of a 'you should really do it cause we're gonna freak out if you don't'.
You don't respond and instead finish tying your shoes first, thinking over his request.
When you're done doing up your shoes you turn and see that they're all looking at you with similar expressions of worry, and it makes you sigh, "Okay, fine. But whoever goes can't wear their normal clothes cause people will be weirded out. The halloween thing doesn't start for another day."
There's a moment of silence while some of them exchange looks before Thorin speaks, "You mentioned Kili and myself first. Surely that should be fine."
"Um..." You look between the two and tilt your head to the side thoughtfully, arms crossed over your chest. "Sure. But your hair is definitely going to stick out, Thorin."
He nods his head in understanding.
"And what about me?" Kili asks eagerly. It seems he's really excited about finally being able to leave your property.
"You're fine, I think. Am I taking both of you?" You inquire with furrowed eyebrows, walking a few steps forward.
"You might as well." Kili says with a big silly smile.
Well, you can't argue with that logic.
You shrug your shoulders and head up the stairs again, "Alright, go get changed into some of the clothes I gave you."
---
Once they're dressed in t-shirts and sweatpants (you didn't know their sizes so you got whatever would fit at the time) you observe them both with narrowed eyes while rubbing your chin.
"Hm... On a scale of 1 to 10, I give Kili a 9 and Thorin a 6." You say after a moment, turning to look at everyone else and get their opinions.
"What is the scale referring to?" Fili pipes up suddenly, looking up at you.
"How convincing they are."
"Why do I get a 6?" Thorin grumbles, looking at you pointedly.
"Your hair." You reply simply, walking over with a hair tie stretched between your fingers, "Hold still."
You gather his hair over his shoulders and pull it back, putting his hair through it and wrapping it around until it's nice and tight.
As soon as you're finished, you step around him and look to see if it's made a difference, and when you've determined that it's good, you smile, "Okay, now it's at least an 8." You turn towards Kili and ask, "Your hair is fine, right? Or do you want me to put it up?"
He doesn't say anything and neither does anyone else, and when the silence persists you raise an eyebrow, "Hello? Earth to Kili, I just asked you a question."
"Uh, no, you don't have to, thank you." He shakes his head and seems to come to some sort of realization since he starts to smile at his uncle in that big teasing grin you've, unfortunately, become accustomed to.
You nod your head and skip back over to the counter, swiping your keys off of it before heading to the front door.
"Come out whenever, I'm gonna get my car started."
Once you're out of the house some of the dwarves begin to laugh, and Kili pokes fun at his uncle, "Thorin, you have quite a red face, are you sure you can go?"
Thorin glares at his nephew and replies coldly, "She meant nothing by it."
"Right, but is that disappointment I hear?"
The glare he throws his nephew is so withering it could suck the life right out of a flower, but Kili is no flower, so he only laughs more.
"She offered to do yours too, you know." Fili adds when he begins to feel bad for his uncle.
Kili pauses his laughter and glares at his brother, "But she didn't do it."
"She would've."
"Oh hush, you're just upset that she didn't ask to do your hair." Kili shoots back, glaring at his brother.
"I am not, because unlike everyone else, I knew she meant naught by asking." He shoots back with a smirk.
Kili huffs indignantly and glares at his brother, saying no more as he heads out the door after you.
Thorin turns to everyone before following and states, "Try not to destroy anything while we are gone." His voice is firm and he waits until he gets nods from them all before leaving after you.
---
Once you're all in the car you put it into drive and go, turning up the radio so the car won't be completely filled with silence while you drive.
Occasionally, you'll glance at Thorin in the passenger seat or Kili in the back, and each time you do they're looking out the window at the passing scenery with awe.
"If you're impressed now, wait until we get into the big city." You comment suddenly, smiling to yourself while you watch the road ahead.
And when you do arrive in the city, they are impressed indeed.
The gasp that leaves Kili when you drive through the first big street draws a giggle from you, and when he presses his face against the window as you pull into the parking lot of the seasonal halloween store, your smile grows even bigger.
Even Thorin is impressed by all the wonderful things around, and when you turn off the car after parking you turn to look at them, "Thoughts so far?"
"It's wonderful." Kili breathes, looking at the bright, moving signs and huge stores all around.
"Yes, I don't believe I've ever seen anything so grand before." Thorin agrees, looking over at you with a smile of his own.
"Well if this impresses you, wait until we get inside the store. Try not to get scared."
---
The three of you eventually make it inside, and when you do they are in awe once more.
The seasonal store is dark with black painted walls and bright white florescent lights, and there are various halloween and horror things everywhere.
When you walk in there is one of those electronic jump-scare things, and while you were expecting it, the poor dears behind you weren't.
The witch thing pops out and cackles loudly, saying one of her many phrases, and as soon as she does both Kili and Thorin freak out. And when I say freak out, I mean 'pulled out some small weapons they decided to bring and screaming' freak out.
Luckily there is no one around at the moment, so you step between them and the witch and laugh nervously, "Put those away please. We're gonna get kicked out if anyone sees you with those."
They look between you and the electronic woman a few times before slowly putting their knives away and relaxing their stances.
"Thank you..."
"What is that?" Kili asks, glaring at the ugly jump-scare machine while you walk past it.
"It's a halloween decoration designed to scare people. And it seems like it worked too." You reply easily, looking back at them with a more mischievous smile.
Kili looks around slightly nervously and grumbles defensively, "I wasn't that scared... Uncles screams are what startled me."
"My screams? Kili, let's not lie now, clearly you were horrified." Thorin says disapprovingly, shaking his head.
"Aw, you guys are cute." You purr jokingly, waltzing up to the kids costumes isle.
They stop arguing after that.
You browse through the messy shelves quietly for a little while, trying to find the best ones, when you see a doggie in the cutest ghost costume.
A squeal leaves your lips when you see the cutie pie and you cup your cheeks as an adoring expression comes onto your face.
Without hesitation you hop over to the owner and ask excitedly, "Where did you get that?"
The man with the dog looked up quickly upon hearing your excited yelp and when he saw your exuberant form he smiled too, "I bought it a week ago here. They're near the back."
His answer fills you with joy, and you continue to stare at his pupper for a moment before he says, "You can pet her if you want, she doesn't bite."
He doesn't need to tell you twice.
You kneel down right away and scratch behind her ears, and her tail begins to wag wildly at the attention.
It seems that she likes you just as much, because she takes a seat and leans into you when you scratch her all over like you do with your dogs. It's at that moment when you begin to wonder if she'll fit in your purse.
Before you can finish your calculations and plans on stealing this mans dog you hear someone clear their throat and you realize then that you forgot all about Thorin and Kili.
You turn your head and see the two of them standing there with amused expressions on their faces.
Upon realization that they're watching you, and have been for a little while now, you jump to your feet and feel your face heat up. "I-If you make fun of me I'll leave both of you here." You threaten very unconvincingly, crossing your arms over your chest.
Kili starts to laugh but he doesn't say anything about it, looking at his uncle who also releases a few chuckles of his own.
You glance back at the man and see that he's looking at them, and you realize he probably thinks Kili's short stature is a little odd.
"U-Uh, thanks for letting me pet your dog!" You say quickly, heading back over to the two of them with a blush on your cheeks.
You turn back to the shelves of costumes and the man and his dog walk away, and once their gone you glare at the two of them half heartedly. "You guys are total meanies." There is faux bitterness in your voice when you speak as well, and it only brings more laughter from them.
"I only find it cute." Kili states, smiling good naturedly before continuing, "Every time you see an animal you get very excited."
"Cause I love animals."
"Yes, we can tell." Thorin muses, stepping up next to you to look at the spiderman mask in your hand.
You tap your foot against the ground a few times before putting the mask back.
A ghost costume for Bilbo; check.
That is all.
You literally don't have anything for anyone else, and honestly you're beginning to think that it's impo-
And then another idea hits you.
Class of middle/high-schoolers in a fantasy club. It's farfetched and barely believable, but most people won't say anything about it out of fear of being offensive, so it's perfect!
You don't have to buy them costumes at all (minus Bilbo), all you need is stuff to make them look less like dwarves and more like children pretending to be dwarves.
It sounds easier than it actually is, but you think you can pull it off. All you need is some netting, makeup, wigs, and nose and scar wav and you'll be set.
Once you get this idea you run away from the kids section with the ghost section and head toward the halloween makeup isle, seeking out the items mentioned previously without hesitation.
You find what you're looking for in minutes, and once you've got everything you zoom to the checkout since you're going to need to look up some tips on how to pull this off.
You're so excited you nearly forget to make sure Kili and Thorin are still with you, but once you see them you smile in relief and pay for everything.
Once you're all back in your car, Thorin asks, "I thought we were going to get masks?"
"Well, we were. But then I had an amazing idea consisting of pretending you're all students or something who invested in really expensive dwarf costumes. It's perfect, 'cause no one will ask and we'll get lots of compliments."
Thorin nods his head slowly and puts his belt on like you showed him, but before you go you turn and look at Kili expectantly.
The young dwarf doesn't say anything at first, but when your staring consists he asks slowly, "What...?"
"Put on your seatbelt."
There's more silence until he puts it on, raising an expectant eyebrow at you, "Is that better?"
"Much."

OH MY GOSH DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT’S BEEN SINCE I WROTE FOR FILI?!!??!  TOO LONG.  I enjoyed every second of his Fee-Fluff.  Although, I actually kept trying to put ‘Kili’ instead of ‘Fili’...  I think I need to write for Fili more or Kili is trying to tell me something  Also, I was SO SO SO tempted to use one of Arwen’s lines in here...  But I didn’t. You’ll know the scene when you come to it though... ;)
Fluff about friend-zoning and Fili working up the nerve to tell a special lass he likes her.

"It's time to end this, once and for all."  Kili declared suddenly as he sat next to me in the library; head propped up on his palms.  I glanced up sharply from the thick tome I was currently pouring over.
"What?"  I asked, not sure if I had heard him right.
"I said, it's time to end this once and for all.  I'm sick of watching you pine after Fili."  He repeated, adding some clarification to his words.
I let out a sigh, grabbing the ribbon I was using as a bookmark and placing it in the book to mark my spot.  Something told me I wouldn't be returning to it for awhile.  "What are you even talking about, Kili?  I don't pine after Fili."  I said, and Kili smirked.
"Uh huh.  I've counted you watching him 178 different times in the past three days.  Explain that."  He said, prompting a faint blush to appear on my cheeks.
And I thought I hadn't been that obvious...  Hmm, perhaps it was time to be a bit more--
"That's what I thought."  Kili's confidence-loaded voice broke through my thoughts, and I looked up to see him grinning knowingly at me.  "You fancy him, don't you?"
I gave Kili a confused look, trying to buy myself time.  "Fancy who?"
Kili threw up his hands in a show of exasperation.  "Fili.  My brother.  The one who's always watching you."  He said in much too loud of a voice, and I motioned at him to be quiet.  I didn't need this to be the new rumor circling Erebor.
Mahal, how embarrassing would that be?
But his words puzzled me; the way that they implied that Fili---no, surely not.  It was too good to be true.
Footsteps sounded behind me, interrupting my musings, and Kili winked at me, grinning mischievously.  "Who fancies who?"  A deep, gentle voice asked behind me as broad hands came down to rest upon my shoulders.
Speak of the devil...
"I was just talking to Loka here about a lad from the Iron Mountains.  She thought he was quite fetching."  Kili piped up suddenly, and I shot him a glare.  The nerve of him...
Fili's hands tightened on my shoulders, and I fidgeted a bit in discomfort.  "Hey, be careful about squeezing me too hard.  I'm not iron."  I muttered, and Fili's hands disappeared in an instant as he came around to stand beside me.
"Sorry, Loka."  He said, but his thoughts seemed to be elsewhere.  Those beautiful blue eyes of his had a faraway gaze.
Kili kicked my shin underneath the table, and I turned to him with a stifled yelp of pain.  "What the hell was that for?"  I hissed, glaring furiously at the insolent Prince.
You were staring again.  He mouthed with a cheeky look on his face.  I just gave him a disgusted look and turned my gaze back down to the book I had so reluctantly vacated.
"If you'll excuse me, I've got some things to take care of."  I said, breaking the silence that had fallen over us as soon as Fili approached.
Before either of them could protest, I gathered up my stuff from the library table and hurried out of Erebor's royal library.  Maybe I could finally finish the tales of Númenor in the comfort of my own room?
~~~~
"Loka!"  A sharp cry of my name had me halting in my tracks as I walked through the halls of Erebor.  Turning around, I was surprised to see Fili jogging towards me; decked out in full royal garb.
"Prince Fili?"  I asked, fidgeting with the bundle of fabric in my arms.  A grimace flashed across Fili's face at my use of his title.
"How many times have I told you that you don't need to call me by that...?"  He groaned, and I gave him an apologetic smile.
"Obviously not enough times; but I kinda have to call you by that since you are the Crown Prince after all."  I said, but Fili just shook his head.
"Forget etiquette for once, Loka."  He said, giving me a pleading look that awoke butterflies in my stomach.
Nodding, I smiled at him.  "If that's what you command...  But anyways, why did you stop me?"  I asked curiously, and Fili shuffled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his rapidly reddening neck as he turned his gaze to the floor.
"Uh..."  He was suddenly at a loss for words, and I watched this with a incredulous look.  Never before had I seen Fili look so...  nervous.
"Fee?"  I called softly, using Fili's childhood nickname.
"Would you like to go to the ball with me?"  He suddenly said; words rushing out in a jumbled hurry that left me speechless for a moment as I processed them.
"The ball that's happening in about four days?"  I asked, and Fili nodded quickly.
"Aye, that one.  Would you like to go with me?"
Disappointment welled in my stomach as I looked at the hopeful expression on his bearded features.  "I would love to--"  I began, and Fili's face broke out in a wide smile.
"Tha-that's great!"  He said excitedly, but I raised a hand to stop him.
"You didn't let me finish.  I would love to go with you, but I'm already going with someone."  I said, and the smile was wiped off Fili's face, only to be replaced with a furrowed look that didn't belong anywhere on his handsome features.  "I'm so sorry, Fili."  I whispered, but Fili was quick to shake his head.
"No, no, I should be sorry for bothering you.  It's no big deal Loka, I just thought...  Who are you going with?"  He asked, quickly switching topics.
An image of a dark-haired Dwarrow--the exact opposite of Fili in so many different ways--popped into my head.  "Maglorian.  One of Dain's ambassadors."  I said quietly, forcing a bright smile onto my face.
Fili nodded, a dark shadow passing over his face at the mention of the name.  "I've heard of him; he's very nice."  He said, giving me a smile that was so obviously fake it hurt.  "Well, save a dance for me maybe?"
I nodded quickly, trying to find a way to lift this black cloud that had suddenly settled over Fili.  "Of course!  I'll always have a dance for you, Fee."  I said softly, and a smile flickered across his lips.
"See you around, Loka."  He murmured, turning and walking past me down the hallway.  I watched him go, noting the way his shoulders were slumped in a picture of disappointment.  But why?  Surely he hadn't wanted to go that badly with me?  Hadn't his question just been a friend asking a friend so they didn't have to go alone?
Shaking my head, I continued on my way to the Palace seamstress.  My dress needed some alterations to fit the current styles of King Thorin's court, and I hadn't had time before now to deliver it to her.
~~~~
The day of the ball had finally arrived, but something just seemed wrong.  Maglorian was very polite and nice, but not even his gracious manners could bring a genuine smile to my face.
I tried--I really did--to keep my attention on him, but I couldn't help sneaking glances towards the dour Fili.  Mahal, I'd never seen him look so hurt before.
"Miss Loka, would you like something to drink?"  Maglorian's cultured tones had me looking away from where Fili stood beside Kili and Thorin; watching the festivities.
Forcing a smile, I nodded sweetly.  "That sounds lovely, thank you Maglorian."  I said, and he smiled back, heading away from me towards the refreshments.
Breathing out a sigh, I returned my gaze towards the trio of royals, only to notice that one was missing.
Kili.
Glancing around the crowded ballroom, I tried to spot the dark-haired Prince in case he attempted to pull a prank on me or something.  I wouldn't put it past him.
"Fancy a dance, my lady?"  A cheeky voice said from right beside me, and I whirled around to find Kili standing in front of me.
Rolling my eyes, I accepted his proffered hand.  "I suppose, if only to get away from the ambassador and his manners for a moment."  I said, prompting a laugh from Kili.
"He's that bad, huh?  I thought you said he was handsome."
"He's handsome in his own way, but he just oozes 'proper etiquette'.  It's enough to make any lass sick."  I grumbled, placing on hand on Kili's shoulder as he settled a hand on my waist.  The music had turned to a slower waltz that was perfect for talking.
Kili chuckled, grinning down at me.  "Perfect."
His words had me looking up at him in bewilderment as he suddenly spun me away from him and into someone else's arms.  For a moment, I thought it was Maglorian and I went to pull away.
"I thought you said you'd save me a dance?  Did you change your mind?"  A familiar voice asked teasingly, and I realized Fili was the one with an arm around my waist.
Blushing, I looked up at Fili with a sheepish smile on my face.  "I thought you were Maglorian...  You are welcome to as many dances as you wish to claim."  I said, quickly adjusting my grip so that one hand was held in Fili's while the other rested on his broad shoulder.
Fili raised an eyebrow.  "So you don't like that ambassador then?"  He asked quietly, and I shook my head.
"Of course not...  He's just a nice guy that I thought would be fun to go to the ball with."  I said, understanding suddenly dawning on me.  "Wait, you thought that me and him were serious or something?"
Pink began to tinge Fili's cheeks, and he looked away from me.  "Well..."
"You're jealous of him!  Are you afraid he'd steal your friend away from you?"  I teased, laughing at the thought even as my heart sank.
Friends, always friends.  But I'd have to content myself with that.  He'd never see me as something more.
"No."  Fili's voice was uncharacteristically hard and I scanned his face worriedly.  "I wasn't afraid that he'd steal my friend...."  He trailed off and let out a sigh, raising his head to look around at the other dancers around us.  "I--just come outside with me for a moment.  I'll explain."  He said suddenly, dropping his hand from my waist to lead me towards the doors out to the hallway.
I followed obligingly, wondering what he was going to explain.  What did he even have to explain?
Once we were finally alone out in the deserted hallway, Fili grabbed my hands and looked down at me with a searching expression in his crystal blue eyes.  "I don't know why it's so hard to say...  I've never been so afraid of something before..."  He muttered, and I looked at him with a furrowed brow.
"Fee?"  I prodded, and he took a deep breath, ducking his head for a moment before looking back up at me.  "I was jealous of that Dwarrow, yeah, but not for the reasons you think."  He whispered, and my eyes widened slightly.
Was he going to say what I thought he was going to say?
"I thought that he was going to steal away the heart of the lass who stole mine."  He said quietly, looking at me with such a vulnerable expression in his eyes, it brought tears to mine.  "It's alright if you don't feel the same, Loka, I'll get over it eventually."  He muttered as I stared at him in disbelief.
"No!"  I exclaimed, and Fili watched me apprehensively.  "Don't get over me, please.  I love you."  I whispered hoarsely, and Fili scanned my face closely, looking for any hint of a lie.
"Loka..."  He murmured in a low voice, raising trembling hands to gently cup my face,  "I feel like I'm dreaming."
I smiled at him, closing the space between us until I was held close between his arms.  "Then we're sharing the same dream."  I whispered, tilting my head upwards as he leaned down to slant his lips over mine; his golden locks falling like a curtain over both our faces.
"Oh Mahal, finally!  I thought I'd have to lock you two in a closet somewhere!"
Fili reluctantly pulled away from me with a sigh, turning his head to look at a grinning Kili leaning against a pillar nearby.  "Do you mind?"  He said with a raised eyebrow, and Kili raised his hands in a show of surrender.
"Sorry...  Just keep in mind that Uncle is going to be looking for you soon, so don't get too cozy together..."  He said, winking suggestively.
"Kili..."  Fili growled, but a red flush was spreading up his neck.  "Don't make me--"
"I'm going!  I'm going!"
With that, Kili disappeared back into the festivities, leaving me and Fili alone once more.
Looking back down at me, Fili gave me a roguish smile.  "Now, where were we...?"

When the worlds collide - part III.
Tumblr media
gif not mine
A/N: Hello guys, I hope you enjoyed second part!! I was tired yesterday, so I quickly typed the author’s note and other stuff and then fell asleep in my hoodie how tired I was. Today’s Friday, so my first four days of school are over!! They were good and in Monday my school’s ending earlier, which is also great. I’m also sorry for Kili being quite out of character, but I promise, he’s gonna be back in character in other parts, so don’t worry!
I’m pretty proud of how I’m writting Gandalf here, though. I think he reacts how he would react.
In the next part is going to be a fan art for this series, I personally really enjoy drawing, even though I still can’t draw the way I’d like to and I’m still trying to figure out how to draw characters and people in general, but I’ll try, cuz I wanted to do it for a while, so now I’m actually gonna do it!
Also, I wanted to post this part a few hours ago, but we had to go to the forest to work here and I couldn’t find the gif I wanted for this part, but I FINALLY found it!!
Again, feedback is highly appreciated!!
Warnings: Kili probably being OOC, Fili teasing his brother, mentions of torture towards Bilbo, cheeky reader towards angry Dwalin

Your pov
You’ve been in the living room, working on preparing yourself for questions about TV, movies and all this stuff, when you’ve heard some laugh from the kitchen. You tip-toed here and tried to overhear what they were talking about.
„Shut it, just shut up, Fili, she’ll hear-“ You’ve heard Kili’s voice, full of emotions, but mostly worry and a bit of fear.
„What is that about, lads?“ Dwalin’s voice said and you shivered.
„Well, our dear little Kili has got a-“ he whispered something you didn’t understood and your mind wondered to that moment with parasites. Almost all of them bursted out laughing. You’ve decided to step in. They could talk about it later, you needed them to understand you truly wanted to help them. You stepped into the doors.
„I-I think I can show you what I meant,“ You said, a bit unsure. All of them looked over to you and you sighed.
„Follow me.“
You took out some blankets, so they could either fold it and sit on it, or to create a cocoon from it, earlier and prepared it on the ground and couch for them.
The reactions were...quite different from what you’ve been hoping for.
Kili and Fili immediatelly took their places on the counch and took a blanket each. Thranduil glared at them and sat on the other side of the couch, Legolas sat down on the ground to him, pulling the blanket over his long legs. Dwalin snorted and turned to Gandalf, angrily muttering something.
„We’re not here to play hide and seek or any childish games, Gandalf.“ You frowned and folded your hands.
„I’m sorry to interrupt, Master Dwarf, but you’ll get your explanation – or at least part of it – once you sit down,“ You said and he turned around. All of your courage dissappeared into thin air.
Only Fili and Kili were laughing when they’ve seen that scene.
You shot them a glare and went to turn on the TV.
„I am begging you, behave please. This is only for watching. It’s playing a movie, which is something like a record of...something and you can watch it again. You cannot step into it, change the action, and so on. You can comment it, though.“
You sat down between Fili and Kili on the couch. Next to Kili was seated Bard, then Thranduil, next to Fili was Balin, Bilbo and Gandalf. Others rather sat down on the ground.
You turned on the movie and wiggled in your cocoon from the blanket. You felt the warmth of their bodies and you happily sighed. It was way too comfortable here. There was no way for you getting out of here anymore.
When the logo came up, both Fili and Kili started asking.
„Where does the music is coming from?“
„What is it?“
„What does it means?“
You aswered their questions, but decided to skip the part with old Bilbo. You didn’t knew how would you explained that.
When a ‚Good morning‘ scene was there, Bilbo’s jaw dropped. He madly blushed.
„I-what-how did they done that?!“ His whisper-yell voice and wide eyes he setted upon you made you laugh.
„They did pretty good job I suppose,“ You noticed Kili to stiffen and turned your attention back to the movie. There was almost dinning scene already, Bilbo in the movie sitting by his table, ready to eat. You were eyeing him now, the tortue and how his face flinched when there was the bell-ringing sound.
You’ve been scrunched between Kili and Fili and your eyes suddenly felt quite heavy. You yawned and closed them for a second.
Third person view
Kili didn’t noticed, when did you fell aspeep, but a weird feeling was creeping through his whole body. He turned to Fili and opened his mouth, only to notice your head was lying on his shoulder and your hands hugging his arm. He closed his mouth and opened it again in wonder and blushed madly, even more than when you sat between him and Fili.
Fili looked over to his brother and noticed Y/N being asleep and hugging Kili’s arm. He chuckled.
„I guess you don’t have to be jealous because of Master Baggins anymore.“ Kili looked at your sleeping form and whispered.
„I-I don’t think she likes me in that way. I don’t even have a proper beard, Mahal.“
„But she’s cuddling you, isn’t she?“ Fili rose his eyebrow and Kili furrowed his, not sure of where his brother was going with it.
„Just sayin‘ she could’ve been cuddling with me.“ Fili said as if it wouldn’t be a big deal, but Kili’s mouth opened and he frowned at his brother. Fili almost rolled his eyes.
„Don’t tell me that you, of all dwarves, through all that confident flirting of yours, cannot squeeze out a word around her.“ Kili’s averted gaze to the floor and red cheeks and ears were enough for Fili to know.
His younger brother was hopelessly in love with that kind woman whom decided to help them to find a way home.
He looked at your peaceful expression. I wouldn’t mind her as my sister-in-law, he thought to himself and let his brother enjoy his moment.

kili x reader
Tumblr media
summary:Imagine kili forcing his way into your room ,when you and the company stay in an inn,as he thinks you had slept with someone and frankly you're bloody virgin.
word count:1784
warnings:bad language,uh shorts.
You had been apart of the company for a couple of months,Gandalf had requested you to come as you had been living with Gandalf for the last year of life,as you wanted an adventure. In which you had known him your whole life ,you were planning when you had turned 17 to travel with him while he made the arrangements of this adventure. When you had went to the prancing pony to meet this dwarven king with Gandalf ,you were very excited to see a dwarf. Though he wasn't what you expected ,he didn't like you at all.
Thorin had looked you up and down like you were a worm, before demanding to know why you were there. Gandalf had told him to hold his tongue behind his teeth, and that the reason you were coming was because you was an introvert , needed to get out into the world, and you knew how to defend yourself. In which the king scoffed at this but left it because he needed all the help he could get.
Sounds stupid to why you were coming but you really felt like you needed to do something with your life ,being stuck at home with your parents ,and you were at courting age you wanted to meet some new people. However mostly you just wanted to see the different parts of middle earth,oh how you longed to meet some elves ,damn you just bloody wanted to take some lembas bread.
Anyways that leads to you Bilbos house, once you had arrived you had attached yourself to the hobbit ,feeling intimidated by the muscular dwarves. Bilbo had seen this and decided not question it ,figuring out you were clearly shy ,when you could barely tell Bofur your own name.  You had clicked with Bilbo becoming friends fast due to your like of his sarcsm, and his attitude ,you werent shy when you had began to trust people befriending them ,then you would just let loose. It just took you a while to become comfortable around new people.
When you had met Kili you had sputtered and turned into a beet, but he had just found it amusing, you had been scrubbing the mud of bilbo's mothers glory box. You had felt incredibly gulity of the state of the hobbits home had been transformed into you had decided help out. All too busy to see that there was a dwarven prince standing behind you ,until they had cleared their throat making you turn your head to face them,to see a brunette dwarf looked own at you ,in which you had stared back at him not knowing what to say. He had gathered you werent going to speak ,taking that chance for him to do so instead.
"Kili,at your sevice." he had bowed his head slightly ,grinning widely, his voice charming ,damn you knew his game, ladies man. "uh...y/n..."your voice was quiet he almost didnt hear you, after that you turned back to cleaning but he did not leave. "whatcha doinggggg?"he had dragged out,you huffed in annoyance he was handsome but you knew already he immature, you had gestured to the mud and the cloth and soapy water. He had hummed in response. "what kind of idiot wipes his boots on a glory box pfft."he had tried to act surprised ,"a lady showed not be on the floor, she should be on a bed ,while a man is on the floor." he had puffed out his chest ,in the super hero pose, you had sent him a small smirk ,standing up with the bowl finished .
"uh.." you had let out before bringing two fingers on your left hand  to your forehead before sending them outwards ,like Captain Jack sparrow ,walking away before you could even see Kili's reaction. Yeah thats pretty much what happened, nothing special.
You did end up talking to kili some times during the journey, only if he spoke first or someone asked you to ask him something, other than that you stuck to Bilbo and Gandalf for conversation.
You hadn't noticed the glances that the youngest dwarven prince would send your way ;nor the teasing that the company you put him through. Kili didnt see the teasing that Bilbo would whisper to you ,after kili would come over to you to let you know there was stream near if you wanted to freshen up or to bring you your food, leaving you blushed faced afterwards. However he would notice your blushing face when he spoke to you ,in which he would smirk to himself. He did enjoy making you blush so easily ,or tease you ,causing you to not even talk without stuttering or a least being like uhh.
Anyways a couple months into your journey Thorin had stopped the company at an inn,oh everyone was so glad ,finally being able to sleep in a bed with pillows. You had all dropped your stuff in your rooms before heading back down stairs in the pub for dinner.  Kili had noticed you talking to a man at the bar before you sat down,he kept an eye on the guy for the rest of the night,as the guy kept walking you the whole night. But in reality it was just your brother who had been travelling with deliveries for his work and it just happened he was staying at the same inn tonight. You had planned on eating your dinner and going to bed.
"goodnight." you had spoken quietly leaving some coins on the table ,the dwarves had wished you goodnight back as they all watched you head over to the stranger man. They watched in disbelief as you hugged the guy ,and press a kiss on his cheek ,and him press on to your forehead, Kili had balled his fists in anger. Your brother had placed his hand on your mid back gentle walking you to your room.
Kili hadturned swiftly to Bilbo ,faced scrunched up in anger. "Is y/n courting that man?" he had rushed out ,his brother had smirked at him knowing that he was indeed jealous. "no she isn't." master baggins had stated grinning slightly too ,it was obvious the prince liked the human and she liked him. "It doesn't right for the lass,to sleep around ,ye?"bofur piped up ,causing some of the dwarves to nod in agreement. "maybe someone shpuld go check on her ,make sure she's okay hm?" fili had suggested raising his eyebrows at his younger brother ,moving his head in the direction you had went ,to encourage his brother to go after you.
"I'll go." kili spoken quickly not allowing anyone else to go ,fili and bilbo had smirked at eachother ,okay so maybe they had teamed up to get the two of you together. Thorin had just shook his head disapprovingly.  Of course Bilbo knew that ou had brother and it was clear to him that was your brother ,you wouldn't be that friendly to some stranger.
As kili was heading up to your room ,you had already wished your brother goodbye ,as he told you to stay safe. After that you had stripped down to your tunic that reached your mid thighs ,little shorts underneath which werent visable ,as you sat above the covers reading your book. The fireplace lit sending a warm a light across,as your eyes began to feel heavy. They began fluttering shut but were rudely interrupted by a knock at the door, your eyes  shot jumping to your feet. You had assumed that it was just bilbo coming to check on you,so you didnt bother to put on your pants when you was just going to get back into bed after. Your bare feet patted against the cold stone floor.
You twisted the door handle ,pulling the heavy door open revealing Kili ,you had stared at the dwarf not knowing what to say while his face turned in anger. "where is he?wheres the that man that took your innocence?!" he had whispered shouted ,pushing passed you gently ,to search your room ,only to see your book on your bed ,bed unmessed. "..kili.." you had spoke sternly, only to be ignored. "I don't understand ,oh you went to his room,oh wow ,just hookup with a random human soon as we-""KILI, that was my bloody brother you idiot! Not that it was any of your  business,my innocence is still fully intact." you never spoke to him in such a tone ,nor without stuttering.
Kili had turned to you ,his eyes now softening ,he walked towards you pulling you into a bear hug, which you hugged back quickly. "I'm sorry for over reacting ,I just saw you dressed like that and frankly when I saw you with your brother ,I got jealous."he had spoken into your ear ,rubbing your back gently. "w-why would you be..jealous?" you had pulled out of his grip to look at him.
He had scoffed ,"I thought it was clear, that I like you,y/n" your face blushing ,"ditto" you whsipered to him ,only for him to look more confused than earlier. "it means I feel the same, kili." some how you had gained the confidences ,pressing your lips to his quickly, only for him to wrap his arms around your waist ,press his to yours likewise. Resting his head against yours "yoou know what I think dildo gaggins set this up,anways you should be getting to sleep." kili had let go of you ,walking towards the door, only for you to grab his arm stopping him. "can't you stay in here?" you had looked at your toes wiggling them nervously.
He had lifted your chin up with his hand gently as he sent you one of his charming smiles as he nodded, you had let go of his forearm ,soon as you did he had pulled down his trousers ,boots ,leaving him in his shorts and tunic like you . You had blushed to the colour of a piece of raw steak, maybe you could see something through his shorts,he had wiggled his eyebrows at you. You had just pretended that you didn't look at his sausage for a good minute, getting into bed ,as did kili pulling you into him ,you were almost laying on top of him.
He was your patrick swayze.

It is now Kili Ksaturday because we celebrate our beeb every day (and I’m late answering asks so thanks for your patience!) Tagging you @cassiabaggins so you’ll get the answer! :) Anon, I hope you see this!
Guys. Kili would be the best cuddler. He definitely has a hard dwarf bod, but you cannot tell me he wouldn’t be so SOFT. Like smooshy, cuddly soft like soft belly and soft arms soft thighs that could literally strangle an orc at any moment but for you? Nothing but love.
And I just. I know in my heart that he is a very physical little dwarf in normal, platonic, friendly ways. If you didn’t like it, he’d stay away, but if you gave him any vibes that you felt comforted by him holding your hand or hugging you that one time? It’s on.
You’re cold? Ki’s there. You’re sleepy? He’s there. You’re sad? You’re lonely? You’re content or happy or comfy? He’s still there. His arm is always draped on you or around you or near you, just keeping you comforted and warm and safe. You’re listening to Fili’s stories? Kili’s head in is your lap and he’s fiddling with your fingers on the hand that’s not already in his hair. You’re stargazing at night? You’re sitting between his legs so you guys can have the same angle and see the same things. You’re leaning back on his chest and turn your face into his neck and he wraps his arms around you as you fall asleep in his lap.
After the quest, he’s got some stuff going on in his head. Who wouldn’t? He’s seen a lot. They all ALMOST died but THEY’RE ALL FINE but what could have happened haunts him. So maybe one night, you’re chilling in Fili’s chambers in front of the fire and both of the boys are a bit quiet. You get Fili talking, you know that’s what he needs to feel better. So he dives into stories of their childhood or stories of the land- peaceful ones that take the three of you away from the past. Your hands run over Kili’s shoulders from behind and he tenses up. You tell him it’s okay, that he can lean back on you if he wants to. And he thinks about it, then he leans back into your chest, between your legs. He’s big and strong and solid, but you two figure it out. He slides down a bit, knees bent, feet in Fili’s lap, his head in yours and your fingers are running though his hair and it’s finally like old times and everything is okay.
He falls asleep there on the floor, Fili brings a fur over from his bed and tells you he’ll carry his brother to his bed, or you can sleep in the bed and they’ll sleep on the floor. But you shake your head, Kili has already claimed you, limbs consuming you, nose buried in your neck. So Fili just smiles, gives you a ton of pillows and blankets and puts another log on the fire before joining you guys on the floor for the night. Like old times.

The Art of Being an Eldar: Legolas x Reader Chapter 5
Tumblr media
Summary: After discovering that you were stuck in Middle-Earth, Thranduil summoned a council of powerful Elves and wizards to see what should be done with you, expressing his wishes of wanting you out of his kingdom. The council decides to send you with Legolas on an orc-hunting mission, and if the Elves of the company that he deems trustworthy-- one of them being his own wife-- say that you've proven yourself worthy of staying among the Mirkwood Elves, then you can stay. The problem is actually managing to succeed...
Chapter No.: Chapter 5
Key: [Y/N]=Your Name [F/N]= Friend's Name [B/N]= Bro's Name [S/N]= Sis's Name [M/N]= Mom's Name [e/c]= eye color [h/c]= hair color [s/c]= skin color [lad/lass/y-o]= lad/laddie, lass/lassie, young one
Notes:  I know I've been trying to keep this story gender-nuetral, but dwarves have a habit of referring to people (Even Gimli to Legolas, though he's a lot younger than our golden boy) as "lad/laddie" "lass/lassie." Or even "young one," I've heard Balin call Bilbo. So for this story, I'll just put [lad/lass/y-o] in parenthesese, and you can just hear whichever one you choose. :)
Warnings: Fluff, angst, graphic depictions of gore and violence (Cuz of orc battles y'know?), more angst, slow burn, some light depression in the first few chapters, some amnesia about Middle-Earth because the Valar say you're not supposed to have foresight, hard-core language, feels, lots and lots of feels, mentions of NSFW content, maybe some eventual NSFW content, LGTBQ+ characters, Thranduil being a jackass at first because he's fabulous, Legolas being a hot edgy prince that nobody can handle, Kili being an innocent bean, Hobbits being smol innocent beans, except for Bilbo 'cause he's been through some tough shit, Bard being dad of the year, Thorin being one dumbass boi, awesome dragons, awesome Nazgul, awesome scenery, awesome stuff in general, Elrond isn't listened to by anybody, confused Aragorn is confused,  Denethor's a bitch as always, brace yourself for creepy as fuck Cream of Wormtongue Grima Wormtongue, Boromir LIVES, Gandalf. (yes these are all legit warnings don't judge me.)
Pairings/Ships: Legolas x Reader, Legolas x you, Aragorn x Arwen, Faramir x Eowyn, Thranduil x Elvenqueen, Galadriel x Celery Celeborn, Boromir x OC, Thorin x OC maybe Bilbo you won't know for awhile, Fili x OC, etc. general LoTR standard shippings plus some of my own cuz I can't stand my boys being lonely
Word Count: I try to keep my chapters short, under 2000 words.
Rating: Teen (14+) for now
The Elves stopped just outside the northern border of the Mirkwood, to the west, to wait for the dwarves. But apparently the little guys just didn't give a shit.
The whole group camped for three days, then three more days, and by the end of it, you were even growing impatient. It was mainly the younger Elves that shared your impatience, but Elves like Elvenqueen and Erestor and Haldir seemed to think that they had all the time in the world, la la fucking la...
Legolas seemed in-between, irritated at the dwarves for being so late but not really caring in the long run. You tried several times to approach him and apologize, but he always seemed to disappear at the most inconvenient times imaginable.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity-- you were getting sick and tired of frolicking-- the sign of a camp on a distant ridge, a couple of days away, gave the Elves hope that the dwarves finally got their heads out of their asses and decided to show up. A couple of Elves seemed to puff some horses out of thin air, and galloped off to meet them.
"We get horses?!" You'd screeched, and wheeled on your friends-- Tauriel hadn't come, so Lindir, Elros, and pissy Blue-Eyes were the only actual friends here you had, even though all the other Elves were very nice to you. "Why the fuck didn't anybody tell me we got horses?!" You could've been riding to pass this time. Not that you knew how to ride a horse, but that wasn't the point.
Elros blinked at you in disbelief. "Those Elves awaited us on the border with horses enough for all. You have not seen them before?"
"No, dammit, or I would've been riding to pass the time!" You hadn't noticed them, because a certain Rivendell Elf had forced you to learn Elvish... You rounded on him. "Lindir! If you hadn't made me sit here and learn Elvish, I could've been riding!"
Lindir stared at you, then slowly raised an eyebrow challengingly. "You do not know how to ride, do you?"
You frowned. "That's not the point!"
Both Elros and Lindir chuckled amongst themselves. You huffed theatrically. "Fine, jackasses. I'm off to pet one of those sweet animals. You can teach me Elvish later."
Before either of them could stop you, you all but ran off, hoping not to slam into anybody or trip or cause something to fall that'd cause a huge mess. You were prone to all of them. And there were horses, enough for everybody there, and three very fat ponies that you almost started squealing over. Those, you guessed, were for the dwarves.
But one horse, out of all of them, caught your eye.
A sleek, gorgeous black, with a bright white star on his forehead. He was built for speed, like a racehorse, but he was sturdy, too. You looked for something to mark him as belonging to a certain Elf-- because you knew Elves loved horses, and that like all horse people, even look at their horse wrong and you make it on their kill list-- but they all seemed randomly selected out of somebody's stables, dressed in the same dark leather tack and saddlebags.
"Oooooh," You approached him quietly, and he nickered softly at you, his dark eyes scanning you and the Elves and the other horses warily. He seemed only recently tamed. "You, fine sir, are gorgeous."
"I beg your pardon?"
You promptly fell backward. Shit! Talking horses, too?! "What the fuck?!"
Legolas, with a smug smirk plastered onto his absurdly perfect face, sailed into existence from around a dapple gray mare. "Valar tell me you were talking to the horse."
"No, I can tell you I was talking to the horse," You sighed in relief, shaking your head as you stood. "But don't worry your platinum head, Goldie, all Elves are equally beautiful creatures."
Legolas rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say, mellon."
You stroked the black's face gently. "No seriously though, he's beautiful. Does he have a name?"
Blue-Eyes didn't look up from brushing his mare's mane. "Most of the horses came from Rivendell and Rohan, which they bought on the journey. The rest came from the Woodland stables. I doubt you will find his name, if he has one."
You felt a little disappointed that you couldn't ask if you could have the horse. You'd always wanted one, but for... Personal reasons that had to do with your biological father, you never got one. "Well... I'll just refer to him as The Black, then."
Blue-Eyes turned around, and started inspecting his tack. "Hm... He seems to have come from our own stables." He stroked behind the stallion's ears, and the horse snuffed appreciatively.
"Legolas," You said quickly, realizing you should catch him when you have the chance. "I'm sorry for not telling you about me leaving if this didn't go well. It wasn't my choice; Thranduil wanted me to go with Elrond that day, but I asked if I could stay. He sent me on this mission to see if I was worthy enough to stay in his Palace of Fabulous. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but... I didn't think anyone would care if I left."
Blue-Eyes got a confused look. "Why... Why would you think that?"
You gave him a sad, lopsided smile. "No one has before."
Recognition, then regret, flashed across Blue-Eyes's face. "Oh, Sairen... I am truly sorry, mellon nin, I should not have been angry with you. I didn't realize... I should have, and I should not have been upset with you. I just... I do care if you leave, and, if I'm honest, I do not want you to go."
You patted his shoulder. "Just so long as you forgive me."
Blue-Eyes smiled at you. "Of course, mellon, if you can forgive me."
You grinned. "Forgiven." You nudged him with your shoulder. "I'm just glad we're friends again. I've never had so many people be nice to me, but only a handful of you I consider my friends."
"And who among us hold that honor?" He asked teasingly.
Oh shit... You'd seen movies where somebody's asked this question, and if the askee shows even the slightest bit of hesitation or interest in any of the friends, asker became pissed and/or jealous. Wait... Why do I care about that? You turned to him with a huge smile. "Well you and Tauriel, DUH, and then there's Lindir and Elros now. Just wait, I'll be friends with Haldir and Erestor too, and then your mom-- by the time I'm finished I'll even make your dad like me!"
Legolas chuckled. "I hope so, mellon."
"By the way," You said, and reached down to grab a handful of grass to give to the Black. "Lindir and Elros are trying-- and failing-- to teach me Elvish. I'm a horrible student, namely because I'm Elvish-challenged. Still, I'm learning, and I want you to teach me something very specific."
He looked confused. "What?"
You smiled. "Teach me the history of Middle-Earth! Everything you can! I can't read Elvish, but you can, and you know the stories pretty well, I'm guessing. So start with how the world began and continue on from there."
Legolas smiled. "Very well, Sairen." In one quick movement, he mounted his mare, then reached down for your hand. "Come. We will ride, and I will tell you all that I know."
You took his hand, feeling a spark from static you'd built up from petting the horse. He hefted you effortlessly up behind him, then urged his horse into a canter as you rode away from camp.
***
Needless to say, you fell off twice.
Once, you let go of Legolas for just a second as his mare jumped a small log, and whoops, there you go. After, still not learning your lesson, you let go of him while trotting beside a river and the horse's gait made you slide right off before you even realized what was happening.
Then you learned not to let go of Blue-Eyes, mostly because he laughed his Elvish ass off every time you fell, after making sure you were okay.
As for world history, it was all very confusing. There were like six different versions of somebody and a hundred different other guys shared the same name and places and descendants and confusing time periods and just ugh. That was one thing you remembered from Earth: Tolkien's works had always been confusing.
Long story short, though, there was a guy called Eru, or Illuvatar, and he created a bunch of friends through thought. These friends of his became the Valar, and Illuvatar created the whole universe-- Ea-- through more thought. Then he had all his friends-- fourteen of them-- sing, and they created the vision of Valinor, then Arda, and the mischief-maker was Melkor, brother of god-king Manwe.
Now, after a long bout of building and making and stuff they created Valinor and Tirion and Mandos and all that, and they created birds and beasts, but Melkor got jealous and tried to ruin it at every fucking turn. Seriously, the guy didn't give them a break.
Then, Aule, another Valar, who made a lot of shit, wanted to have a bunch of kids so created the little guys known as dwarves, and made them to be especially tough and hardy and stuff because they were supposed to be around during the time of Melkor. But, Illuvatar appeared in his living room one night and said "I think the fuck not my kids come first" which made Aule reeeaaaaaallly upset, so he tried to kill the dwarves (Supreme parenting 2.0!), but then Illuvatar said "wait idiot they can still live" so Aule put them in stasis-mode for like several million years, until somebody "accidentally" unleashed some new Elves into Middle-Earth-- which had no moon or sun.
So duh Orome shows up, says "hi" and everybody runs for their lives except for a few brave souls, who round everybody back up. So three particular Elves, Finwe, Lenwe, and Ingwe, who you're pretty sure were brothers, went to Valinor with Orome to see if it was suitable for Elves-- and it was pretty much Elven paradise, or Vegas or something.
THUS CAME THE FIRST SUNDERING OF THE ELVES, or, that's how dramatically Leggy told it; the Teleri came to rest on the shores of Aman instead of going still further (Who earlier had split further and some became the Sindar, who had stayed in Beleriand, and the Silvan Elves, who'd stayed in the forests of Beleriand or something, of which Blue-Eyes was the first.), the Nandor who got scared of mountains and refused to go further, and the Noldor, who came all the way to Valinor.
Once actually in Aman, the Elves loved it there. They were in paradise. Water. Books. Flowers. Sparkles. Everything an Elf dreamed of. They built a city on a huge hill called Tirion upon Tuna (No you refrained from laughing.), made of silver and gold and more sparkles, and there was lots of peace, until Melkor was finally caught and chained.
Peace, lots of peace, boring shit, more peace, then BAM, the idiot Valar let the bastard go, like dumbasses. Melkor hadn't changed of course, no one does. He started rumors like some crazy gossiper and started up a whole bunch of shit. At that time, this guy called Feanor was around. He was like, the Elf of Elves, but he had some breathtaking anger management issues because after his mom died, his dad waited like a couple thousand years then got married again, and he definitely did not like his stepmom.
Or his two half-brothers.
They were pretty cool guys, Fingolfin and Finarfin, and each brother had like a dozen kids each, one of Finarfin's, get this, was Galadriel. One of Thingol's kin? Celeborn. Elrond? Yeah, he's the grandson of Beren and Luthien, the son of Earendil, raised by Maglor, related to Turin, and his grandparents were Tuor and Idril, the latter of which was the daughter of Turgon, who was the son of Fingolfin, who was the brother of Feanor, so yeah.
Holy fucking shit. Their god stories were kinda hard not to believe when people still existed who could vouch for them.
So this Feanor guy created a trio of sparklies beyond all sparklies, called, the Silmarils. He got a mild case of dragonsickness, boasting and hoarding and showing off and gloating, but Melkor made him think his brothers were trying to steal his sparkles, which, fuck no, how dare they, and he made his brothers think that Feanor was trying to usurp their father Finwe's throne.
Damn that guy knew how to stir up some shit.
One of Melkor's chief servants? Sauron, the Dark Lord, previously known as Sauron the Sparkly Maiar Who Wouldn't Hurt A Butterfly. Balrogs? Yup, Melkor made them, too.
Basically, Feanor started a revolution against the Valar and Melkor, who he called Morgoth, because Melkor was just too pretty of a name for such a bad guy, who stole every single light with the help of a hideously large spider called Ungoliant, killed Finwe, then took the Silmarils.
Feanor was piiiiiiissed.
So the Noldor left Tirion, killed some guys that tried to reason with them that turned out to be Elves, the Teleri, got cursed by Mandos, then Feanor, his sons, and a couple hundred who he knew didn't question him set off on stolen boats and burned them when they reached shore, leaving everybody else-- Galadriel included-- to walk the fucking Helcaraxe, a snowy strait wasteland, to get to Beleriand, which was filled with sparkling twinkle-toes Elves and much-less-serious dwarves-- who were friends.
There was also a good portion of the story dedicated to Turin, Beren and Luthien, and the couple known as Maedhros and Fingon, who you instantly adored: Maedhros, chained to a jagged cliffside for who-knows-how-long, and Fingon, who wanted so badly to save him, and eventually carried up to the cliffside by an eagle; he had to cut off Maedhros's hand, but the story was so heartfelt you were still internally squealing about it.
Yeah so that happened, and then a bunch of war and slaying and something about a Fall of Gondolin and the Children of Hurin and Beren and Luthien leading up to a whole lot of human-caused shit with Numenor, and then Illuvatar blew everything up and restarted, essentially. Toward the end of the second age, Sauron (The fucker had somehow lived through all that evil-cleansing shit.), in the form of a fancy-prancy Elf named Annatar, suggested the making of the Rings of Power. Three, a smart guy who hadn't fallen for any of Annatar's shit, Celebrimbor, hid for the Elves, while Sauron/Annator helped forge the rest in order to control them, making one ring, above all.
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the dwarf  lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for mortal men doomed to die,
And one for the Dark Lord on his Dark Throne,
In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie,
One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them,
In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie.
That was totally cool and stuff, and a handful of well-known Elves-- Gil-Galad, Glorfindel (Who'd uh, previously died due to a balrog trying to touch his hair.), Elrond-- and you're betting Galadriel, Celeborn, and Thranduil-- plus a bunch of well-known humans, lead by Isildur's dad, Elendil, and probably some dwarves, all came together with their armies and formed the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, totally discounting every dwarf that was there.
The nine kings who'd been given rings? Yeah, those were cursed, and because Men are greedy, they became shadows of their former selves, black-clad servants of Sauron, known as the Ringwraiths-- or, even cooler, Nazgul.
So there was a huge battle. Gil-Galad fell. Isildur's dad fell. Isildur cut off the One Ring from Sauron's hand, Sauron faded away, and Elrond took Isildur into Mount Doom to destroy the Ring. But he was weak, and was seduced by its power, and Elrond just stood there screaming his name apparently.
So there'd been roughly a couple thousand years of peace, and nobody knew where the Ring was. You doubted it was anywhere safe or secure, and much less that Sauron was actually dead.
Also, the Elves were fading. That scared you.
"What?! Great, I got sucked into a world where I'm just gonna die!"
Legolas laughed. "No, mellon nin, we are fading. Not dying. We just long for home, and our kind is slowly leaving Middle-Earth. This world becomes gray to us after so long of living here. We go across the sea, to the Undying Lands of Aman and Valinor."
"Okay," You leaned around him to see his face. "What is it with you Elves and the sea?! What's so important about it, if even you've never seen it yourself?! I certainly haven't seen any kind of ocean or sea."
Blue-Eyes smiled at you. "The first sound ever heard by the Elves was flowing water. It calls us home, in a way. It is said by my people that in water there yet lives the echo of the Music of the Ainur that first created this world."
"Huh," You said, tilting your head. "Guess that does make it really interesting..."
The sound of another pair of hoofbeats, coming up from behind, nearly made you fall off of the horse again. "Orcs?!"
Blue-Eyes grinned smugly. "Orcs do not ride horses, Sairen."
"Duh. I knew that. Fuck you."
"I'd rather you not without my consent."
"That's not always what it means!" You hid your blush by moving so your head was behind his back. Damn Elves...
It was Erestor, riding a gorgeous flaxen stallion. "Legolas, Elvenqueen calls upon the company of [Y/N]."
Nervously, you peered around Blue-Eyes's side. "Is that bad?"
Legolas spurred his own mare into a canter as he followed after Erestor. "Not in the least, mellon."
When you returned to camp, Erestor and Legolas took care of the horses, while they sent you on ahead-- by yourself, to a scary yet badass Elvenqueen you might glare you out of existence if you breathed wrong, like the wonderful friends they were-- to the Elvenqueen.
She sat by one of the center campfires, surrounded by a drove of Elves eagerly listening to whatever she was saying. Even in the firelight, she looked really young, but really regal and noble and even though she didn't have a wrinkle on her body you could tell she'd been around for eons.
All went silent when you approached. Nervously, you bowed. "Y-you wished to see me, your majesty?"
"Yes," She said, and waved to a place on a log across from her. "Sit."
You weren't terrified or anything. Just 'cause she decided not to skin you alive a couple days ago didn't mean she couldn't change her mind. You caught a glimpse of Elros in the crowd, and he gave you a reassuring nod: Don't worry, you won't die yet.
Comforting.
"Tell something of your world," She said.
You balked. Hadn't Thranduil told her everything you'd said? They seemed like the type of couple to do just that. Hadn't Legolas at least given her some information? They seemed close. You swallowed hard, readjusting yourself on the log. "What uh... What do you want to know?"
She thought for a second. "A tale."
You shifted. Sure, that was specific. You'd read billions of books (Well, maybe not quite that much...), but you couldn't remember any that Elves would want to hear aside from series’, like Temeraire, or The Gospel of Loki, or Eon the Last Dragoneye. Maybe you could use a movie, but Marvel and Transformers were too long and in-depth. You thought for a minute. You didn't even know how to give a much-shortened version of Eragon.
But out of everything, it was your best bet to tell a story and be safe from explaining your world's past, or things of your world, or cultures, mythology, or the concept of giant robots from another planet that hide by transforming into cars. Eragon was the closest thing you had to Lord of the Rings that you could remember right off the top of your head that was most similar; it had some of the same beasts, like dragons and werewolves, it was set in the same genre and had dwarves and Elves and Men, even if urgals were a new one... Then again, you weren't sure how they'd take dragons being good instead of hoarding assholes.
So, you got started.
As a hobby, you wrote a lot of fanfiction, which had mainly been for Lord of the Rings; you couldn't remember any of it now, of course, but you'd also started your own fantasy stories that had never been published. You were good with storytelling.
There were points where you had to pause and remember what happened next, or try to find words that explained the guilt or sadness or general feels of the story, but you did pretty good. By the time you were finished, the sun had came up and it was already noon, and the Elves that'd gone off to see if that camp was for dwarves were coming back, with a couple of pony-sized rams with shaggy coats carrying three tiny buff hairy guys.
Elvenqueen regally stood. "My thanks, [Y/N]. That was a wonderful story." She sailed through the ranks of the Elves, which parted before her like reeds to a boat.
"Is that a true story?" Lindir asked you, eyes wide.
You scoffed. "If it were true, I'd've had a dragon named Saphira or Shruikan. I have no dragon." You clapped your hands together. "So! When do I get to meet the dwarves?"
Blue-Eyes-- who'd joined later in the story, and another Elf caught him up on what was going on while he half-listened to what else was going on-- mockingly rolled his eyes. "Patience, mellon. I cannot think of any Eldar whom would willingly want to make the acquaintance of a dwarf."
You gave him a pointed look. "What about Thingol's people?"
Silence. Finally, Elros busted out laughing, and clapped the now-stunned Legolas on the back. "They have a point, mellon!"
But Blue-Eyes was right. It was only a couple hours before you were sought out by a Lothlorien Elf, who told you Thorin wanted to meet "the one who hailed from far." Apparently, nobody here felt like saying "the person that came from another planet." Not as mysterious, apparently.
So you followed the Elf to a tent, much smaller than those of the Elves, and a lot less colorful and, dare you say it, fashionable. Literally, it just looked like a bunch of old dark-colored blankets had been stitched together haphazardly. But, if you looked at the tools and tack of the rams, they were just doing it in spite of the Elves, because they had really good craftsmanship.
You weren't sure what to do. "Uhhh... Knock knock?"
You belatedly remembered one of the dwarves was royalty. "Sirs?"
The flap of the tent opened, and you got your first look at a dwarf.
He was an older dwarf, with a long graying beard and frizzy hair, and huge round ears. He looked you up and down in a brief but kind inspection, and, came to the very educated conclusion of, yup, not your normal Elf.
The dwarf smiled. "Ah, you must be [Y/N]." He sounded more Scottish than anything, and you were instantly relaxed. "The one from a far place. Not a normal Elf, then?"
You shook your head. "No sir. Just got here about a month and a half ago, actually."
He raised a hand. "Now now, we are all a part of this expedition, and I don't like being referred to as 'sir.' I am Balin to you."
You couldn't help but smile. He was a lovable little guy, a very sweet old dwarf. "Okay then. But, uh... Should I call Thorin or Dwalin 'sir'?"
Balin thought about that. "Ehhh... Thorin, yes. Dwalin? No."
You nodded, and Balin lead you inside the tent. It was pretty cozy, with three logs covered in roughish furs for makeshift beds. A small cooking fire was set up in the middle, and two other dwarves sat by it, halting their dwarvish conversation when they seen you and Balin. "This is they," Said Balin, in an introductory way. "[Y/N], child of [M/N], from far places."
The dwarf who you assumed was Dwalin-- buff, sleeveless, and with viscious muttonchops that made him look like Wolverine-- scoffed. "Tell me," Holy shit, he sounds like Leonidas from 300! "[Y/N], do you perhaps come from the Iron Hills?"
"Iron... What?" You were confused. Hadn't any of the Elves talked about you being from Earth? "N...No. I come from a place called Earth."
"Dwalin," Said the other guy, who radiated kingship, authority, and regal dwarfish-ness. He didn't take his eyes off you, like you were a predator ready to strike that he was wary of. He had a beard, but braided neatly down, and long dark hair. He wore dark navy blue and brown fur armor, and his voice was like, super deep. "They are not of the Iron Hills."
"Uh... Thank you?"
Thorin stood, and you bowed. "I'd uh, use some really respectful greeting, but I don't know any in dwarvish yet, so, it's an honor to meet you, Thorin, son of Thrain."
Thorin nodded. "I would say the same, if I knew you deserved any honor," He replied. Ouch.
You didn't know what to say. He obviously had no love for Elves. "What uh... What made you think I was from the Iron Hills, wherever that is?"
"To the east of Erebor, [lad/lass/y-o]," Balin informed you, and Dwalin whacked him so hard upside the head you could've swore they broke something.
"Oh. What made you think--"
Thorin looked at you with a look that said stfu so you did. "The dwarves of Erebor think little of Elven magic, or wizards. We did not believe a portal strong enough to pull someone from another world could exist. And as I have discovered, it does not."
You were confused. "What do you mean? You mean the ears? Those were latex, I swear, but suddenly they weren't. You can ask Thranduil, I'm not from these parts."
Thorin glared at you. "I would rather not converse with the Elvenking. He does not hear the word of others. As for you... It is clear you are merely an Elf of strange upbringing, who lost themselves in the wrong woods."
"Okay," You were starting to get irritated. You loved Middle-Earth, but you weren't from Middle-Earth. You didn't belong, like always, and you were ready to defend your position. In Game of Thrones--you'd never gotten far in that series, and had only started the books-- Tyrion Lannister told Jon Snow to armor himself in what people thought his weakness was, so that it would no longer be his weakness. That's exactly what you'd done over the course of your life, and you weren't about to lose that now. "Listen, I can show you the damn portal. It wasn't made by Elves, or wizards, or any of that other shit. The inscription on the portal came from the time of Gondolin, if that means anything to you. Do I talk like an Elf, to you? Do I act like one? The Elves were ready to kill me, just because I breathed wrong near their damn trees after being chased by orcs on oversized dogs. If I weren't from another world, do you honestly think I'd have such elaborate stories?"
Behind Thorin, Balin patted his hands down, giving you the silent signal to shut up. Glacing at Thorin's pissed off face made you listen. "How am I to believe you?"
You made a face. "Don't you dwarves have any kind of lie-detecting abilites?"
Balin sighed. "None that we can think of, [lad/lass/y-o]."
You huffed in defeat. "Okay, okay, you know what? You dwarves are beyond stubborn, so I'll just tell you once: I come from another world. If you don't believe me, fine, but I'd actually like to make friends with dwarves, thank you very much."
"Oh!" Dwalin chuckled deeply. "Then they must not be an Elf, Thorin! None in their right mind would go cavorting with a dwarf!"
Thorin frowned. "Perhaps a spy... But wait... You are not of the Woodland Elves. I see that now."
You looked down at yourself. "Gee, what gave it away?"
"You carry yourself differently," He began to circle you, and you felt like you were being circled by a vulture. An angry vulture... "Most unlike them, or any Elf I have heard tale of. Whom were you raised by?"
"Uh, my mother," You quipped with a cocked eyebrow. "Her name is [M/N]."
"And where do your kin reside? With the Rangers of Dúnadain?"
"With the what? Is that some kind of club?"
"Club?" Thorin repeated. "You believe that to be a weapon?" He gave you a disbelieving look, and you sighed.
"No, no. Where I come from, a club is a group of people that gather together and talk about stuff they like, or try to run the schools or shit like that," You were trying to explain with excessive hand movements, but you only seemed to be freaking him out.
He narrowed his eyes. In a rough and rusty language that sounded like it could be dwarvish, he said something; you didn't even catch any of the words.
You stared at him blankly for a second. "Mae g'ovannen...?" You tried, wincing at your hopeless pronunciation of the words.
Thorin regarded you with a newfound look of awe. Behind him, Dwalin chuckled. "That, was his attempt at Elvish. And you did not understand what he said?"
You stared. "...No? Was I supposed to? Did you just say something important? Or insult me? Hey, I'm only just starting to learn Sindarin!"
Thorin's look of awe shifted to a scowl and a bitter smirk. "It was not Sindarin, I can assure you. It was Quendi, that of the Noldor, the only Elvish my people know."
"Quen-- Oh, I get it now. Different Elves, different languages, it's all coming together..." You swung your arms casually. "Ok, so, what'd you say?"
"I told you that you are an imposter, and no better than Orc-filth" Said Thorin absentmindedly, "Which would send any Elf into a fit of well-groomed rage."
You couldn't help yourself. You burst into a fit of giggles, making all three dwarves look at you weirdly. "I-I'm sorry," You wheezed, "'Well-groomed rage'; yeah, that's pretty much what they do!"
"What of this quest, then?" Challenged Thorin as he took a seat. He gestured for you to do the same. "If you are not of the Wood Elves, yet you are indeed Elven, why are you on this journey? What purpose do you have here?" He poured you a drink; you'd never really tasted ale or mead of any kind, and recoiled from the smell.
"In order for you to understand, I'd have to tell you the story," You told him, and he gestured for you to continue. So you did. "I fell from the highest branches of an oak tree playing a game with my family. It was a standard day. Standard, pointless life. A life in a dying world that was way too fucking overpopulated, in the wrong damn places. It was a twisted kind of home. I didn't like it, and did what I wanted, so people hated me. I was dressed as an Elf--hence the ears.
"I wake up in the middle of the night, still in the forest, and am suddenly being chased by orcs on the backs of oversized dogs with six-packs on their faces."
Thorin grew confused. "Six-pack? What is that?"
You patted your stomach. "Those rows of six square tight muscles you get on you stomach if you work out. Now lemme finish!
"I get caught up in a river, shot by an arrow, and am half-dead by the time the Elves arrive lead by Blue-Eyes-- uh, Legolas-- and they're ready to kill me, but because I'm pretty much dead and in their forest, I'm some kind of threat. Because they're real nice like that. Thranduil-- who I kindly refer to as, Lord Fabulous-- wanted Leggy to kill me on the spot. Blade to my neck and everything. Until I pointed out that I could go home if we found the portal and would never return by pain of death. Ouch, but whatever.
"So we look, find it, and surprise! Can't get through. Can never see my family again. Can never go home. Suddenly I'm a real Elf. I go into a kind of depression before I realize that this place was a fictional world from where I'm from, which I'd loved, but for some reason can't remember shit now." You pointed to him. "Your name is important. Very. I know that much. You do something really cool, probably.
"But the Council of Wisdomy Guys was summoned, and they decided that it would be best if I proved my worthiness to stay among the Wood Elves on this mission. No pressure!" You grinned maniacally. "What brings you here? I hear a certain gray-robed wizard?"
"Ah, yes," He sighed. "Gandalf. My father met with him whilst I was in the depths of Erebor, so I heard no word of it and could make no protest against it until my father told me that I was to travel with two of my choice to assist the Elves. I only tolerate this for my father's sake, and he claims this will be a good lesson for kingship one day. But when I heard word of someone from foreign lands, I feared it was the dwarves of the Iron Hills attempting some form of scheme. Never have they liked us, and they never shall."
You scoffed. "Yeah, well... Most of the Elves may not like you either, but some of them aren't so bad."
Dwalin choked on his bread. Balin gave you a sad look. "But they tried to kill you!"
You shrugged. "I'm used to getting awful treatment. And besides, now that they know me, I've made some friends. Tauríel, the Captain of the Guard; Lindir of Rivendell, and Elros son of Elrond... And then there's Blue-- Legolas."
"Why d'ya refer to him that way?" Dwalin demanded with a disgusted look.
You shrugged. "A nickname. Where I come from, it's a gesture of friendship. I call Lindir 'Lindy' and he hates it, I can tell."
Thorin snorted. "Well, [Y/N] of Earth... Should the Wood Elves refuse your company, Dale might make a nice, temporary placement until you find elsewhere."
You smirked, nodding slowly. "I heard that emphasis on temporary. Don't worry; I thank you for your hospitality, but Lord Elrond is staying at the palace until I return. If I fail, he'll take me back to Rivendell with him."
"Good. One less Elf on our borders to deal with."
"Oh screw off."
Thorin grinned bitterly, but waved a hand. "Begone, I am done with questioning you."
You scoffed, and Dwalin took your drink and guzzled it. to your shock and amazement. Out of the three of them, only Balin wished you a goodnight.
But you weren't tired, which you realized as you found yourself heading back toward the horses. "[Y/N]," Said a familiar voice, and you turned to see Haldir striding toward you.
You bowed, suddenly recognizing him as somebody of high rank. "Mae l'ovannen, Haldir of Lothlorien. What's up?"
He blinked in confusion. "I..." He slowly looked up. "Believe the stars..."
You chuckled. "No, no; that's an expression, where I come from. It means how are you doing, what is it you need, nice to see you, etcetera etcetera."
He stared at you. "...'Et... Cetera...?'"
You slumped over. "Oi... It means a general list of similar meanings that're implied but nobody feels like saying."
Haldir smiled. "Oh, I see. Lindir wished for you to return, so that you could continue your lessons in Sindarin." He didn't miss your look of disappointment. He smirked. "Perhaps, when you are finished with Sindarin, and already know Common, Quenyan would be best for you to learn."
"Pfft," You waved a hand. "I'll live forever. Might as well. I'll toss some dwarvish in there while I'm at it."
Haldir made a face. "I suppose that is up to you, but every dwarf speaks Common, so it would not pose any form of language barrier for that to be avoided..."
*** You were woken up no later than the crack of fucking dawn, by an elaborate blowing of horns that probably alerted ninety-seven percent of the orcs of the northern borders to your presence, but oh what the hell.
What else you woke up to?
"Galu, mellon nin," Said Legolas with a shit-eating grin. "Ci maer?"
Slowly, your groggy eyes went from wide to thin, angry slits. "...I swear to the Valar, Blue-Eyes... I just fucking woke up. What are you saying? Speak in Common, or I'll tear you limb from limb because I am not a morning person."
He gave you a look, but couldn't wipe the smile off his face. "Le leich, Sairen. But if you are going to learn Elvish, then you must actually try to do so. Tell me, what did I say?"
You shrugged and slumped over onto a log. "Grapefruit, melons win, kid mobster."
Blue-Eyes chuckled, but internally, you busted out laughing after realizing what you said. "No, [Y/N], you have to do this. Concentrate. What did I say?"
With a sigh, you thought about Lindir's grueling lessons with you yesterday. "...You said, 'A blessing,' which is basically 'hi,' first; Galu. Then you said 'my friend,' and, 'are you well.'"
Blue-Eyes nodded, looking excited that you were getting the hang of Elvish. "Excellent. Now respond to me in Sindarin."
You resisted the urge to roll your eyes. In the most unenthusiastic tone you could muster, you said, "Galu, Legolas, ni maer. A gin?" Blessings, Legolas, I am well. And you?
"Ni maer," He replied, then began polishing his bow. "Worry not, Sairen, soon Sindarin will come to you thoughtlessly. You already swear to our gods, instead of your own."
You did roll your eyes this time. An idea hit you. "Hey..." You looked at him with a huge smirk. "What's fuck you in Elvish?"
Legolas paled, then blushed. "You will learn how to speak intimately to another later--"
You huffed. "NO! What's your most offensive insult?!"
Blue-Eyes thought for a minute. "...Ego, which is the equivalent to what you mean when you proclaim that Common phrase of yours... Hopefully, most of the time."
You bit back a laugh. "...Eggo? As in, L'eggo my eggo?"
Blue-Eyes gave you a concerned look. "I... I am not sure what you mean, and it is not pronounced as you say it."
Commotion started up, and you spun around in your seat wildly to try and see why everybody was suddenly moving and packing up. "What's goin' on?"
Legolas smiled. "Well, Sairen, we are off to track the orcs."
You looked at him in a panic, pointing futilely to an Elf packing up the cooking supplies. "B-but... What about breakfast?" That sentence reminded you of someone... Someone small and innocent and prone to causing disasters... But who? Blue-Eyes didn't give you time to figure it out.
"You will not starve, mellon nin," He told you gently, and stood. "You are an Eldar now; you'd best learn what your body can do now rather than later." He smiled down at you. "Dadwenithon."
As if you understood what that meant, he practically skipped away. "...Dad marathon?" You repeated in disbelief. You got up and went to find somebody you knew, preferably not the Elvenqueen, Erestor, Haldir, or Thorin, because they'd just find you childish, or annoying. Elros was quick to find, and you approached him and his palomino steed with a very confused expression.
"Hey Elros?"
Elros looked up from brushing his horse's mane and smiled. "Ai, len suilon, mellon nin. Ci maer?"
You rolled your eyes. Stupid Elves and their five hundred different ways to say 'hi...' "Galu, Elros. Ni maer, a gin?"
"Ni maer eithro. What brings you to my company?"
"What the hell does dad marathon mean?"
Elros froze and looked at you like you were crazy. "I beg your pardon?"
You gestured wildly over your shoulder. "Legolas got up, walked away, and said dad marathon! And I've got no idea what he said!"
Elros grinned knowingly. "Ai,Legolas said dadwenithon. It means, roughly, I will return." He gave you a disgusted look. "And that is not how it is pronounced at all."
"Oh. Dadwenithon?"
Elros smiled proudly. "Yes! Precisely! Well done! But if Legolas told you he would return to you, evidently he meant for you to stay where you were."
Your eyes bugged out of your head. "Oh. I'll be going, then. Novaer." You didn't realize you'd said an Elvish farewell until you'd reached where you'd originally been seated, but that jumped out of your head when you seen Legolas waiting with his dappled mare and the black stallion (Heh heh...) from yesterday.
"Ooh! What's this all about?"
"I decided you should have your own mount throughout the course of this journey," He replied with a smile. "He is yours for now. Name him as you will, and by the end of this journey, I shall see if you may keep him."
You stared at him like he'd just grown a second head. "Wh... What? Keep him?"
Legolas smiled. "Surely you would wish to ride at will throughout the northern parts of Mirkwood?"
A huge smile spread across your face, and you excitedly spread your hands. "Well, duh! Gin hannon, Legolas! I'll call him..." You took the reins and looked him in the eye. "Starlight. I've always wanted a black horse called Starlight."
Blue-Eyes patted your back. "Well done, mellon. Already, Elvish is beginning to seep into your speech."
You looked at him in surprise. "I did that on purpose you dumb blond."
Legolas's eyes widened slightly. "Man?" Which you understood as, What?
You stuck your tongue out at him and crossed your eyes. "Blehlehleh!"
He recoiled. "What are you doing?"
With a laugh, you stroked Starlight's muzzle. "Messing with you. So you get up from the left side, right?"
Blue-Eyes just looked at you like you were crazy, then shook his head. "Yes, I suppose."
You went around to the left flank of the steed, which snorted suspiciously at you, like it wanted to know what the fuck you were doing. You peered at Blue-Eyes over the stallion's back. "Gimme a leg up?"
Legolas flushed and stared at you blankly. "If that is one of your vulgar insults, I swear to Illuvatar..."
A laugh escaped your throat. "No! Hell no! It means help me up, you moron!"
A sweet smile crossed Blue-Eye's features. "Well, then, come here, mellon nin, and I will aid you." He interlaced his fingers together as he bent down, allowing you to grip both ends of the saddle, step into his hand, and haul yourself up. You nearly fell off the other side, but just managed to catch yourself before you made yourself look like a complete idiot in front of Blue-Eyes, who noticed your struggle but said nothing, to your sweet relief.
Elros trotted through camp on his palomino, saying "Und wendo'hein!"
Legolas mounted his dapple-gray, and looked you up and down. "You are not sitting correctly." He told you, and reached over to pull your shoulders back. "Your shoulders need to make a line to your ankles in the stirrups."
You rolled your eyes sarcastically. "Great, now you sound like my collection of Young Rider magazines."
"Your what?" Legolas looked almost offended.
"It's basically a book only about twenty pages long made of cheap paper and filled with random tidbits of information. This series I started collecting when I was eight or nine, then continued until I was about twelve, thirteen... I had a lot of them. I loved horses."
Blue-Eyes furrowed his brow. "Did you have one?"
You scoffed. "In my world, you either have to be rich like Saddle Club or own a farm like Racing Stripes. Or, by some miracle get saved by a badass black Arabian stallion on a desert island." You smiled cheekily at him. "Which, by the way, your facial structure really reminds me of an Arabian horse's. Dished, kinda. And perfect and majestic and all that shit."
Blue-Eyes just looked like he was suddenly being attacked by a pack of savage wargs and he wasn't quite sure what to do. You grinned, and did the first thing all of the books and movies you'd read as a kid had taught you: gently tap your heels into the horse's flanks, and carefully guide their head with the reins. Starlight tossed his head, eager to get moving at a faster pace, and nickered softly as he started off at a walk. Legolas beamed at you as he rode beside you. "Well well, Sairen, it seems you are a natural at riding a horse. Perhaps the blood of the Eldar is finally starting to take a hold of you."
"Not quite," Said a new voice, and Lindir rode up on a sleek bay with a mischievous smile. "Suilad, Legolas! [Y/N]! Your Elvish is improving, but you still need to learn more."
You slumped in the saddle. "Augh, man, do I have to?"
Legolas and Lindir grinned wickedly at each other. "Ai, Lindir, man í lú?"
"Ú, Legolas. Eithro, ci maer?"
"Ni maer, mellon nin, ni maer."
So for a whole five or six hours on the trip, you got bombarded on either side by Blue-Eyes and Lindir trying to teach you Sindarin. At the end of the day, the Elvenqueen asked you for another story, so you told her the first one that popped into your head that you could honestly remember most of: Alladin's Lamp. It had been your favorite fairytail as a child, and while it was meant for younger audiences, the Elves enjoyed it just as much.
Then, Thorin asked to see you again. He asked about your world, and what it was like, and you were happy to get to know them, even if you were an Elf now.
And that's how it went, for the next few weeks. Unfortunately, at some point you'd run out of memorized storybooks, so you focused on myths from various mythologies, and then, even movies. 300 seemed to be a favorite of Thorin's, who overheard, but the Elves were especially interested in Gods of Egypt and The Hunger Games, and the Jedi from Star Wars. When you ran out of that material (It was a long trip with long nights, because apparently Elves didn't really get the concept of sleep.), you even switched to games; Darksiders and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim got their attention, as did The Legend of Zelda.
But of all the damned stories you told them, they seemed most interested in Shakespeare, of all things. You only barely remembered reading Midsummer Night's Dream out of curiosity, but Romeo and Juliet, thankfully, everybody knew the gist of. Thanks to a certain Tom Hiddleston, you knew Coriolanus by heart, so that one wasn't too hard of a story to tell, and neither was (Onc you finally got them off of Shakespeare.) Pirates of the Caribbean, a classic for you, which, one of the characters, now that you thought of it... Will Turner... You couldn't quite remember his face, or Balian's from Kingdom of Heaven, which they all really liked, especially Legolas.
Eventually, the queen dubbed you Taleweaver, which you thought sounded pretty cool, but also a little nerve-wracking, because what if you ran out of stories to tell? You forced yourself to be casual. No worries. You were a writer, after all, just... Now your audience consisted of fantasy people instead of Tumblr bloggers.
No pressure.
One day, Legolas approached you alone as you groomed Starlight. "Yo," You said, s'upping him. "S'up?"
Blue-Eyes looked like you'd just thrown something at him. "Man?" You rolled your eyes. "Galu, mellon, galu. What is it?"
Legolas scoffed. "My mother has declared only a small party of us, including the dwarves, shall scout ahead and see if we can find their trail. Of the party is myself, Elros, Erestor, Haldir, and... you."
You pointed to yourself. "M...Me? The queen specifically requested me to go with you?" You narrowed your eyes suspiciously. "Whhhhhhyyyyyyy???"
Blue-Eyes glared at you as he stroked Starlight's muzzle. "It is nothing out of the ordinary. You wish to prove yourself to my father, do you not? I would like for you to stay in the Mirkwood as well, Sairen, so do not disappoint me."
"Well," You looked up at Starlight's face. "No pressure, right?"
Legolas smiled cheekily. "Not at all." He patted your back. "We begin at dawn tomorrow. Meet me by Starlight once you've woken, and we shall begin." He walked away, but half-turned to call out, "Do not be late!"
You nodded in exasperation, but as soon as he was gone, sighed and placed your face on Starlight's neck. "Mission," You hissed under your breath, just really wishing Lord Fabulous didn't have to be such a jackass. "Impossible."

Next Caller Pt 37
Tumblr media
Across your desk you had set up the stacks of papers to get into your sketching and with a stop watch you had timed out your vocals for the lines for the commercial and using the storyboard outline sheets with the lines on them you got to work. In the mocked up border on each sheet you marked where each item in the background would be that would be used and got to detailing each character inside. Focusing on them for each scene varying the facial motions that when you flipped through the start of the three minute commercial. Roughly you would end up needing 5500 images to fill the three frames per second you were used to using for your old show. Just finishing the characters for the first half a minute alone had you grumbling and wrapping those in twine to keep separate, leaving a dot where you had paused in the storyboard to start lunch.
It would certainly take a long time to finish the first commercial alone and while you stirred up some soup you listened to Roac sharing his latest plan to keep Dot entertained post group nap. Though he didn’t really need your help just someone to vent his excitement to before he went to curl up in his house in Thorin’s room.
Alone again you dipped back to wondering how you could master a sort of pattern to spend time with Thorin when you were back to working at the hotel again. Four days a week you would barely be sleeping or at home and there was no telling what he would have planned for those days. Just leaving early breakfasts and an afternoon run in at his shop through the week. It was barely noticeable how little you were home through the week for the Durins, yet now that he had moved into a home that like with his former housemates he would be alone for most of the time and everyone would know that.
When you had finished off a few grilled cheeses you heard the garage closing signaling you to set two places at the table. With bags in hand Thorin smiled at you saying, “That was timed well.”
“You missed Roac’s plans though.”
“Oh no, I didn’t he shared those last night for me.”
Looking at the bags he was holding in moving the pot to the heat resistant pad on the table. Setting his things on the counter he said, “I am glad the group is all napping so I could show you what I got.”
Out of the bags he pulled a stack of plastic containers holding muffins and brownies making you walk closer asking, “What is that?”
The tone making him turn with blender in hand only seeing you staring at the stack of snacks. “Those, muffins and brownies.” You looked up at him and he said, “They were out of cookies.”
Moving closer to him his brows inched up curiously as you kept your eyes on him opening one of your cupboards you pointed into at the long Tupperware containers with cookies and brownies in them. “If I can’t have tea bags you can’t buy those.”
“I-,”
Tapping the top box of brownies you said, “I know how much these are, and I could make you dozens of each for the same price.”
“You already make soup and bread-,”
“Ok, I can go through a tub of brownies in a week myself. I am also eating the soup and bread. It’s not like you walked in saying ‘I eat a cheesecake a week make it for me’ no, I am eating them too. No tea bags no pre made brownies, cookies or muffins.”
A smirk tugged across his lips and he nodded holding back his chuckle in your poke to his middle, “Agreed. Though if I do draw the line at cakes. If you insist on baked only-,”
“You can buy a cake if you like, and I don’t bake pies. Does not end well with Belly, he gets a bit too curious and ends up poking them to get to the fruit.”
Humming in amusement he asked, “How often do they dig in the kitchen?”
“Most of the time when I was home I was there. They got curious. Here they have more to distract them at least.” Your fingers tapped the counter and he looked you over, “Were you ok at the apartment when they guys were gone for days?”
“We had most of our days together. If this is more about you being busy once you get back to working at the hotel it won’t be a problem.”
“What do you usually do?”
He chuckled saying, “I like scrap booking and reading among other hobbies. If I get too bored I have ample relatives to keep me distracted.”
Sitting down for lunch he listened to what you had accomplished so far then helped you clean up and pulled the cup out of his blender box to add to the washer before hiding the body of the blender in his closet in his room. Though with you behind him he showed you the table that you helped him carry through the hall between your rooms to place it into the study that did fit perfectly into the place he had chosen. While you checked again at your sketches he came back in with his chair then came to see what you had done smirking as he watched the Countess starting her mini promo for the book in the bare bones background.
“I just wanted to get the characters done first, then I can build the room around them, which the background, I’m a bit rough on, so I might have to have Celebrian’s cousins to come out and help like they did on the old show.”
“That sounds good. How much of the commercial is this?”
“Roughly 30 seconds out of a three minute commercial.”
“30 seconds?” he asked glancing at the thick stack surprisingly only a minute portion of it. “Wow,”
“It’s better than claymation, at least in my opinion.”
“No, I bet.”
“But I may have jumped the gun and ordered stuff for the studio, so, at least, I’ll have that. It can all be in its own space.”
“Just let me know when it’s coming and I’ll call my relatives.”
Post meal he looked at what you had planned for the studio and while he got to quietly planting his sprouts in the greenhouse you got back to breaking through another half a minute of the commercial you tied off together in another bundle of twine and joined Thorin in the dinner he had fixed.
Under the covered windows by the storm shutters protecting them from the storm blowing through once you had hurried out to warn the owl couple of the storm that Hector accepted you and Thorin’s help in closing the shutters around the window cutouts and door opening you had worked a handle on the inside a few days prior just for this when they had said they wished to stay to their own home even in storms they settled in for a loud and wet night. Back to your meal you went then cleared up and headed off to bed calling it an early night.
A tap on your hand however had your eyes opening and groggily you blinked Kuu into focus and found your feet to come greet the owl couple now inside the greenhouse with a large stack of branches they had drug inside from the yard sending your roomba scrubber into a frenzy to clean up after. A second nest had been set up, just for emergency weather like this, granting the pair a chance to have nights to roam protected form windy storms like this. Boiled peas were called for, and after your having held the trio of eggs for the pair while they finalized the nest, they were settled safely in the nest and again you were back to your bed. Calm at least the pair had allowed you to wipe the mud off their feet if they wished to explore your home to keep your carpet clean.
 *
“They made a second nest inside.” Thorin said nibbling on a cookie he had brought from your stash along with the muffins and brownies he had bragged you had promised to bake for the pair of you.
Balin, “That’s, and they are content with being inside?”
Thorin, “It’s quieter. Hector’s mate felt uncomfortable with the shaking doors it seems.”
Dwalin, “Perhaps we could get our cousins out to coat it in storm shutters anchored against the wind.”
Thorin mumbled around another bite of his cookie, “We would have to ask them. Even weather is coming up for a stretch.”
Balin smirked asking, “You found out at breakfast, why the grumbling this morning?”
Thorin muttered, “Rain.”
His eyes however switched to the door and the trio watched Frerin driving past the shop heading for the lot. From there they turned to see Frerin stroll through the back door smirking at the three saying, “So it rained.”
They all answered, “Yes.”
Frerin looked to Thorin, “I know what you’re thinking.”
Thorin rumbled back, “Doubtful.”
Frerin’s smirk deepened, “Your dear Mafioso had to leave for work on a practically dreary dusk.” Only deepening the sink of Thorin’s brows, “Only bringing up the wish of a different type of vehicle for her, the only question being, how to ask the obvious question.”
Dwalin rumbled, “How to let Thorin buy her a car?”
Frerin raised a finger, “Before that, does our Mafioso even know how to drive a car? And how recently has she driven one if she has.”
Balin, “The solution? We know you would be here to fix it of course.”
Frerin smirked at his brother again patting him on the arm, “We’re going out on a date.”
Thorin’s head tilted, “We who?”
“You two, the boys and Mal with me as guard for the lot of you.” Thorin’s brow inched up, “A guard is required cohabitation or not.”
Thorin, “What sort of date?”
Frerin smirked, “A fun one.”

It didn’t take long and post stop at your house you dropped off your scooter curious about Fili and Kili coming to fetch you and Mal. Following you to your home the pair smirked as you climbed into their back seat, both unwilling to share why you were being picked up. Remaining silent you only hoped it wasn’t for a surprise eloping or something like that to just be the cherry on top of this week. Only behind their car you saw Thorin following with Frerin and Mal behind him. All the way to a go kart race course you sat silently and curiously smirked at the odd location. The grin on Frerin’s face however stirred a sense of comfort for the spur of the moment trip, a nudge from his brother had Thorin crossing to your side after stealing a moment inspecting your cleavage flaunting tanks over tattered jeans flashing glimpses of your legs.
An ease of his arm around your back and you were led inside and in the passing over of a helmet by Fenrir you smirked at his asking, “When’s the last time you drove?” Clearly this was the reason he at least was here by his and Thorin’s attentive gazes.
“Last time I visited Greenwood. Bout half a year back.”
Tilting his head to the side he said, “Come on, have some fun.”
The waiting group of men inside around the supply of go karts in the garage got to guiding Mal and the boys against the measuring board to have them sized to the right pedal settings in the karts. Eagerly they hurried to wiggle into the offered body suits and add their helmets while you were being measured. From a simple test course inside while they rolled up the garage doors to let you out into the outdoor tracks that Frerin especially was thrilled to see what an adept racer you were.
A late lunch at the burger joint next door where the older set of brothers kept asking and trying to weed out your interest in car brands as for a style of what you would want only to be thwarted as Mal would jump in and draw the conversation to the muscle cars she and her parents had fixed up when she was younger.
When it looked like the trio were cuddling close to their allowed limit and had stolen one too many kisses Frerin guided them home while you rode home again with Thorin. A call to head to the shop had him dropping you off again to go and see to things. Alone inside you sighed and strolled through the entrance hall only to turn to the peach room that you wondered how the quartet had left it.
In piles they had folded the sheets back with the comforters Thorin had dried and folded leaving them on the stairs. One by one you added the fitted sheets and somehow magically kept the regular sheet wrinkle free then added the comforter you tucked in and added a second blanket in a strip across the bottom and divided up the pillows. The top beds were the most difficult, aiming the pillows at the stairs made it easier for guests to just slide right in feet first. But once done you smirked and pulled your house journal from the bag you’d left by the door and crossed off the bed making step off the list.
Another bout of sketching was done to the sound of a show playing on your laptop on the end of your desk that you watched in sporadic bits to keep from losing yourself to painful cramps in pushing too hard. By dinner that you had fixed up Thorin was back again muttering to himself only to plop down in his seat and vented about how it apparently was his fault that one of their workers had failed their latest exam in school when they had taken a week off to study for it.
“What did he do?” You asked passing him a tiny bottle of juice instantly making him smirk in seeing the reminder of another of your personal quirks and choices in recycling things in your daily life.
“He tried to make one of our other workers cry so we took his apron and clocked him out and Balin wrote him his final paycheck after he asserted he had better offers.”
“Will that leave you in a slump?”
“No, one of Bombur’s girls has been earning the right to get a job and in our place she can be safe with family around.”
“I still don’t get that part,” his brows inched up curiously as you sat down next to him, “You have to earn the right to work? Frerin said the boys have to earn paying rent too.”
Thorin nodded, “It’s all a part of can you uphold the family name, because we all reflect upon it. So through your late teens you are earning the right to be independent, it isn’t as restrictive as it sounds. And there is a whole dinner party in their honor when they earn each right.”
“Kind of sweet I suppose.”
He chuckled asking, “Elves don’t have things like that?”
“Elf businesses don’t hire under a certain age unless you give proof you have no family, and then schools are the same. They have lower wages, unless they are orphaned, if you do get a job with family your wages are cut. Though you can only room with an older roommate, and I mean older as in late adulthood, and there are restrictions on that as well to keep romance out of the cards, it’s more of a sub landlord situation, one master bedroom and smaller suites inside the duplexes. Which are absurdly expensive. Though if you rent from other races you can skip that step and relax in the lower rents.”
Safe topics again skirting around the elephant in the room lingering from Frerin’s taunting calls of lovebirds through the races and muffled repetitions through the meal still un-discussed. Filling the washer fully you added soap and left it running on your way to bed. A warm shower and a long braid and pjs later you were snuggled up in bed while Thorin wove his hair into a braid and sighed laying out in bed wondering what he was going to do.
.
Another early breakfast had you splitting up, though from work in a text to you warning that he wasn’t at the shop you headed home in time to accept the package from Diaa for the both of you. Stacking the bundle of mail you pulled from your mailbox against your chest you headed inside through the open front door between the mattresses being carried through from the truck outside. On the kitchen counter you separated the mail out curious as to how he could have so much mail that you stacked on top of the package leaving just a notice of some sales for the mini market coming up as yours. Through Belly in his greeting for you while you checked on the hummingbird chicks especially you eyed the large empty nest that Kuu confirmed that they had moved back to their home again in the seating area.
In the final lap of the crew in adding the mattresses to the blue/orange room you had brought the sheet kits from your storage room separating the five comforters and throws to add the sheets and pillow cases to the washer. Exhaling sharply Thorin came into your view and smiled as you said, “You got some mail, it’s in the kitchen.”
He nodded and went to inspect it all. Various letters from his family ads and bills for insurance and such were sorted through and he carried the box he had opened into the living room where he found you, “You put the sheets in the wash.”
“You don’t mind?”
He shook his head, “Not at all. They are communal. Amad sent pictures.”
Into his palm the first of the paper packs of pictures settled and through each picture had you leaning more against his side inspecting each with a creeping grin. Though by the time you had reached the more couple like group from the bout of dancing on your final night you were leaning against his side with head and hand resting on his chest giggling at the pictures of you and Mal bleeding into the much larger chunk of you in Thorin’s arms. Wide grins and smiles mingled with bashful glances away recorded in each while his arm circled you keeping you close to him. The final pack holding parting hugs and group pictures of you and the female Durins ending with a final picture of you led to the van under Thorin’s arm. Something about the image stuck in you and tilting your head back to catch his eye you said, “Maybe we could do a picture wall.”
He nodded, “That’s a good idea. Pull out the best for the wall and the rest for a scrapbook.”
You nodded lifting the one of you faced away from the camera under his arm, “I don’t know why but I like this one. And it’s more than just your ass.” Lowly he chuckled in your giggle.
“Thanks. It is a lovely picture. Could be the center one if you like. The dancing ones together, you and Mal in one frame collage, the rest grouped in others.”
“Though I don’t think we need to put up the ones with swimsuits.”
“That would be best, yes. The dance, the hike, the film night and some meal pictures,”
“Hopefully the ones without food all over my face.” Making him chuckle again then shift at the doorbell sounding again. Setting the pictures aside he walked with you to help guide the dressers to the white/orange and the sea foam room. The first at a lack of a closet and the latter due to the preference of how your mother and Cirdan like to keep their clothes. The peach room for your sisters had drawers built under the beds and cubbies and shelves in the closet they had for ample storage.
While you took another look through the pictures he delved into his family letters unable to keep from stealing glances at you grinning at random images deepening his own grin before his eventual fetching of his portable printer he used to print out your painting pictures and more you had stolen of one another. Those from the Helm’s Deep trip were added as well and grouped together before when a stomach growl had him off to make dinner you had realized just how long you had seemed like a couple. Even a stolen set of pictures from Dwalin on your first talk over tea and your hug in the shop that was agreed to be hung as well with the one of you under his arm in a building group of random pictures of the pair of you. The zoo pictures were mostly for another book with a few planned for a small frame for display, including the one with you both smiling beside the Dik-Dik.
Before dinner you folded the bed sheets and pillow cases you carried to their new beds that you left to join Thorin in eating. A basic shape of layout idea had been discussed over the meal that broke in a call from Frerin about a question on some storage ideas for his new home lasting well past when you went off to bed.
The conversation for Thorin broke with a promise that he would come over and help the following day you were free post radio shift to do some shopping of your own. Thorin had moved in but you still hadn’t felt like you had done anything special to welcome him yourself as the birds had. Supplies for muffins filled your basket and a stop for a new muffin tin had you smirking in adding a cute ram coated mug to the basket with a bow for it. Between comforters being washed and dried you baked up a batch of muffins you added to their own Tupperware cupcake holders you stacked beside the hand washed mug you added the bow to the handle. Again however you got lost to your sketching only to end with you sprawled across your bed for a nap.

Hours of browsing through furniture lots with his brother had Thorin dragging him off to the scrapbook shop to make things even. The shared idea that you were to hang pictures of the both of you and Frerin jumped right in to help. Loading up a cart of frames, nails to hang and a load of scrapbooks to fill and decorate later with the pictures left over. Curiously home to the sound of the humming dryer he entered and went to the living room to start on the grouping of pictures. Beaming brightly at the stack of frames and pictures left he went to go and start on dinner. Truly you would be working hard and most likely would be the busier of the two of you but that did nothing to stop his efforts into settling as a courting pair to make this relationship work. And to be the one keeping home and ensuring you had hot meals and drinks to keep you going had no hindrance on things either. In fact only deepened his adoration of this pairing as it allowed him shower daily affections on his One.
Nearly to the verge of exploding with animated hearts his smile broke wide open in a surprised chuckle lifting the mug you had left him. Right away he took a picture and got to work right away on dinner. A gentle nudge was used to wake you from your nap to ensure you were fully fed before he ushered you back to bed for some more sleep. Cleaning up afterwards he made some peas for Kuu and smirked in eyeing the muffins he planned on taking a few to work to show off to Dwalin and Balin surely to make them a bit jealous along with the pictures of the mugs and frames he made.
.
Dropped jaws were his responses after your rapid hug in parting as thanks for the mug he adored and showed off to his cousins to go with your muffins they shared and hummed through nibbling on.
“Off shopping with Mal.” Lowly Thorin muttered the message you had sent and sighed only glad that it gave him more time to focus on readying the pictures.
Dwalin rumbled back, “At least you can focus on surprising her back with hanging the pictures.”
Thorin nodded, “Yes.”
Dwalin, “I’ll help. You’ll need an eye to level them out.”
Across a strip of the wall the ones you had chosen, collages were hung staggered around the emptier frame with your favorite random pictures around the one of your backs forming a slight heart in the midst of the themed groups. The intentions had the pair’s hearts swelling at the clear show of a future to build on and to the couch Thorin got to working on the first of the scrap books with the remaining photos. The filled books he set on top of the wall long stretch of cabinet storage under the photo wall.

“What are we looking for again?” You asked easing another dress to the side on the rack.
Back in the corner of a chic second hand shop Mal loved to bring home little gold mine pieces to add to her collection she walked around the other side of the rack eyeing the choice you lifted she shook her head at. “Something cute but classy. Not too bold, but saying ‘look at me’, It has to be comfy but not too casual. Not mentioning the fact the guys shouldn’t be able to keep their eyes off me.”
Your brow twitched up and you turned back to the racks making her head tilt as you shifted another hanger. “What’s on your mind?”
You shook your head saying, “Just browsing.”
Bumping her arm into yours when she stood next to you avoiding a Dam passing behind you she asked, “What happened with Thorin?”
“Just trading off cooking. We got pictures from his Amad.”
“Ooh, I got a bundle myself, bet they were cute.” She looked you over and you nodded again, “You liked them?”
“Ya, we added pictures we printed from our phones from Rohan and painting last week and Dwalin even had a picture of us both when we first met. Planning a picture wall.”
“Ooh, how cute. I bet they’re adorable.”
You looked at her saying, “We’ve seemed couply,”
“Forever, yes you have.”
You sighed again looking to the racks, “And we cuddled,”
She giggled and gave you a hug, “Oh honey bunny, you lucked into an amazing Dwarf to be betrothed to. He’ll make a move soon, won’t be able to stop himself, you just do something adorably sentimental and he will just melt.”
“I made him muffins and I bought him a mug.” Making her giggle again, “Do you at least have a color for your unicorn of a dress?”
She rolled her eyes and said, “Maybe a green or silver?”
“Ooh, then what about this?” Turning to the rack behind you she followed you with her eyes and her lips pursed curiously as you pulled it off.
“Ooh.”
“I think it would be nice. Comfy and all that jazz, with a hint of look at me.”
Smirking as she took hold of the hanger she led the way to the changing rooms, “I will give it a shot. Might need a shrug.”
“Ooh, saw one of those,” you mumbled walking off to find it again making her giggle as she slipped inside her chosen changing room. The spaghetti strapped deep v top of the mint dress was accented with a sheer layer covering the top and flared skirt coated in silver leaves giving it a nice shimmer. The color alone would make her eyes and hair color pop while complimenting her complexion and with a cute little shrug you passed to her when she opened the door to show off the cute dress only cuter with the comfy shrug. The perfect shoes and bags were already in her closet and a stop to another shop for some makeup to top off the look. A grumble from BamBam had you both heading home so she could feed him and let him roll around a while.
Tumblr media
A huff from you announced you to Thorin mid scrapbooking session only to glance up right when you had plopped onto the couch beside him using his thigh as a pillow. “Did you have fun? Because I just picked out a date dress with about ten contradicting requirements.”
Lowly he chuckled saying, “Scrapbooking.”
“Ooh,” he chuckled again resting his arm on your side to show you the book he was finishing off. Showing off each detail he had added then when you sat up he showed you the frames you had hung, the display ending with you both lounging and you against his side again watching a show he put on for a joint decompressing break with him more slumped against your side tangling you in the corner. A growl of his stomach had your focus switching from the show to the melted man cuddling closer to you since your fingers had absently began combing through and playing with his hair.
With a calming grin he helped you up and you got to starting on dinner, the full act packed with reaches across one another and stolen glances wondering at your increase of snuggling and act of hair play possibly meaning. However yawns came out leaving the topic still untouched for now while you were off to bed, both slightly exhausted by what you weren’t saying and the incoming change for time off together.

You wanted nothing more than to bundle up in a pile of blankets and fall asleep again. The rain that pelted your back and the top of your head soaked easily into your clothes, the cloak you had fastened around your shoulders doing little to protect you from the cold. Your arms were tightly wrapped around your riding buddy, Bofur, as you pressed your forehead to his back. His body was also soaking wet, as was pretty much everyone else in the company. A few grumbles of annoyance sounded out every once in a while, and if your throat wasn’t aching as bad as it was you probably would’ve done the same. It had been nearly a month since you appeared in Middle Earth, and it was easy to say that you had found a small place within the company of dwarves, along with the Hobbit and wizard. Surprisingly enough Thorin wasn’t as harsh to you as he had been the first couple of weeks, but he still seemed a bit hesitant and almost… meek around you. True to Fili’s words a couple of weeks ago, Kili had gotten over himself and finally talked to you again, much to your relief. However it wasn’t quite the next day that Fili had mentioned, it was more like the next week.
You wanted to chuckle at the awkward conversation that was held between the two of you— well, more like the awkward explanation that Kili had for his cold-shoulder towards you.
“I just— I don’t want uncle to see me as… as foolish.” Kili seemed to want to look everywhere except for you. His brown eyes, while filled with regret and guilt for ignoring you and acting cold, were looking around at the rocks and the trees as he avoided your gaze. The quill in your hand had stilled upon an empty page of the book that Bilbo had given you, and it wasn’t long after you sat down away from the group that Kili approached you for the first time in a week. The grip you had on the quill tightened as you watched him, the skin under his stubble glowing red, as did the tips of his ears while his fingers fumbled with his sleeves. He looked like a hurt puppy. “That’s not an excuse though, I know. And I apologize if I’ve upset you. I won’t hold it against you if you don’t want to forgive me just yet, but I just wanted to see if there was any way that I could—“
The sound of your laugh froze Kili in his spot, and when he finally looked over to you since he started his rambling he saw a smile pull up your lips. Confusion ran hot through his body and his eyebrows knitted together as you continued to laugh. You should’ve been angry with him. He had been bracing himself for this conversation, the words running through his mind dozens of times before hand, and he had been telling himself that you would be crying and screaming— if you could scream that is— but you weren’t. “W-what? Aren’t you… aren’t you angry with me?”
Kili couldn’t seem to believe that you didn't seem upset or angry at him, which he wasn’t wrong to believe. You still felt hurt when he had avoided you. The pain in your heart was there, yes, but after many explanations from Fili you understood that Kili thought he was doing right by his uncle. He wanted to impress Thorin. So you left him alone to figure stuff out for himself. You had forgiven the young prince about the fourth day of him not talking to you, so all you had been waiting for, until this moment, was for him to come back and want to be your friend again. Your fingers grabbed a hold of one of his hands gently as you held your place in your book with a pressed leaf, and you felt the muscles in his palm tense when you pressed your fingers against his skin. Kili held in a breath as your cold fingers drew against his burning skin. Once you had finished writing Kili felt as if he was going to cry, and the smile that graced your lips was reassuring as you nodded.
I FORGAVE YOU. LONG AGO.
A small cheer fell past Kili’s smiling lips and in an instant he had pulled you to your feet and to his chest. His face was pressed deep into your shoulder and his hands held your waist as he shook your body happily, and another laugh rumbling in your chest at his excitement. You gave his back a soothing pat before he pulled away, and you were shocked to feel his hands gently grasp your cheeks. “I’ll never act that way again, Y/N, do you understand?” Kili’s nose was inches from yours as he brought your face down to his, your eyes blowing wide when you saw the sincerity swirling through his chocolate eyes. “If I do, I give you permission to give me a proper smack across the face.”
After that night things seemed to go back to normal between the two of you. Fili still kept a close eye on his younger brother whenever he was around you though. The golden prince still couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that Kili would do such a thing to you, ignoring you and acting as if you had some incurable and deadly disease. Sure, you were quite odd and most definitely the quietest person that they had ever met, but everyone in the company had some little ticks and quirks about them. Even after Kili had apologized and the two of you went back to normal, Fili couldn’t help but stick close by to you. He had taken it upon himself to watch over you and help you communicate with the others during Kili’s little tantrum, and ever since then he couldn’t deny how you had grown on him. Some way or another, you had caused a swirl of emotions to bury themselves deep within the eldest prince’s gut, and he would be lying to himself if he said that the feeling hadn’t grown at all. Even now Fili couldn’t seem to draw his eyes away from you, his lips pulling down into a deep frown when he saw how you shivered against the freezing rain and wind.
“Here, Mister Gandalf!” Dori’s voice somehow reached your ears through the pouring rain, though it still sounded muffled. You just barely peeked out from behind your cloaks hood, yet the dwarfs figure was blurred from the rain and the edge of your cloak. “Can’t you do something about this deluge?!” You definitely agreed with Dori’s question. Gandalf was a wizard, surely he could do something about the rain. If not stop it, maybe raise the temperature just a little bit. The rain had soaked you to the bone, as it had done with everyone else in the company, and you had a feeling that if you didn’t get somewhere warm and strip yourself of your drenched clothing, you would end up with a nasty cold. Which would only make the ache in your throat worse.
“It is raining, Master Dwarf!” You found yourself looking over to Gandalf as he replied to Dori, his words laced with slight annoyance. “And it will continue to do so until the rain is done! If you wish to change the weather of the world, you should find yourself another wizard.” You couldn’t help but quirk an eyebrow at the funny statement. Gandalf had never made mention of any other wizards before, so you never really took it upon yourself to question whether or not that there were any.
“Are there any?” Bilbo’s voice suddenly sounded out, startling you a bit. You had been so caught up in trying to warm yourself against Bofur’s back that you had completely forgotten about the Hobbit.
“What?” Gandalf questioned.
“Other wizards.”
You let out a low growl whenever Bofur gave your wrist a small pinch, just to make sure you were still awake, or possible still alive in weather as bad as it was. His fingers felt like ice against your already frozen skin, making you jump a bit at the feeling before you slammed your fist into his stomach lightly. The action didn’t do much damage though. Bofur merely let out a grunt while you settled back down again, your temple this time resting against his back as you watched Gandalf. “There are five of us.” The wizard spoke. “The greatest of our order is Saruman the White, then there are the two Blue Wizards…” You blinked rapidly when drops of rain fell down your lashes and into your eyes a bit, the figure of the wizard blurring. The pad of your thumbs dug into your eyes, and only after you could see again did you notice how Kili was laughing at you. You shot him a warning look as you growled lowly once more, your mood only worsening as the rain picked up. “Do you know, I’ve quite forgotten their names.” When Gandalf spoke again you turned your attention back to him, only briefly though, as Fili was waving a few ponies away to get your attention.
It wasn’t hard to tune out the conversation that Bilbo ensued with Gandalf as you turned to look at the waving prince, as the rain suddenly began to pick up and pelt your back and head harder. You winced when heavy drops of rain hit your cloaked head, more rain dripping into your eyes and falling off of the tip of your nose when you tried to pull your hood down further. Fili watched as you tried to shield your body from the rain, a prominent frown pulling down his lips at your discomfort. On any usual day he would’ve offered you his coat, but the fabric and leather were thoroughly soaked through to the lining, leaving him to weigh more than he did before the day began and keeping him cold against the wind. You were shivering quite violently, he noticed as he spurred his pony to trot next to Bofur’s pony. The older dwarf only glanced towards Fili when he matched pace with him, his floppy hat falling over his eyes a bit when he turned back to the front.
“Are you feeling alright, Y/N?”
Your eyes narrowed to slits and one of your arms tightened around Bofur’s waist when you raised your other arm, both you and the prince watching as your arm, hand, and fingers shook underneath the weight of the rain and from the coldness that spread through your body. You gave Fili a look that he read as ‘what the hell do you think?’ before you squeezed your hand into a fist, trying to get some feeling back into it. “Right, stupid question, of course you don’t feel alright. Who does in this bloody weather?” Fili looked away as the tiniest of blushes flooded his cheeks. You couldn’t help the chuckle that rumbled in your chest at his small rambling. You had noticed how flustered Fili had been getting around you recently, and you couldn’t decide if it was because of how close the two of you had gotten the past few weeks or what. “I’d offer you my coat but.. well..”
You gave a small shrug when he swept his palm over the lining of his coat, only for it to drip with rain water when he showed it to you. It didn’t seem to help either that rain was still falling from the sky, however this time at a slightly slower rate. A thankful smile pulled up your lips at his offer. Even if by some chance that his coat was dry you wouldn’t take it. You could tell that even with how naturally high dwarves body temperatures were that he was struggling to stay warm in the rain. His lips were pressed into a thin line, his darkened blonde hair falling in soaking waves around his face and shoulders. The last of Gandalf’s explanation of wizards drifted through your ears as you surveyed the dwarf and it appeared that you had zoned out— your eyes sticking to his strong features and blue eyes— for the sound of Fili clearing his throat broke you away from your train of thought.
“Do you think the rain will stop anytime soon?” You looked up at his question, blinking some when raindrops threatened to hit your eyes. You quirked an eyebrow as you did so. Sure enough, it appeared that the rain was finally starting to slow, and as you peaked above the trees and into the sky your hood fell off. “Maybe we’ll get some sunshine after all.” You hummed in agreement when you looked away from the blue sky peaking through the grey clouds. Fili was smiling when you looked back to him, his fingers de-tangling his hair a bit while he locked his eyes with yours.
You held his gaze for a moment, and when he finally looked away you watched as his blue eyes danced over your features for a quick moment. You could see the way his lips twitched under his braided mustache and how his cheeks flushed with color. He turned away finally while his hands moved to wring out his coat and tunic as the rain slowed to a complete stop. The sun was peeking through the clouds and treetops now, providing little warmth to the company as they traveled. You watched Fili a while longer as a silence fell over the two of you. He truly was an odd dwarf, not that you knew many dwarves apart from the company, but it wasn’t a bad type of odd. In fact you quite liked him. Unlike with his brother, you felt calm and protected around Fili. It wasn’t that you felt unprotected around Kili— you knew that if the occasion arose that both of them would try to defend you— it was just a different kind of feeling. It was nice and warm and inviting. Your heart fluttered whenever Fili was next to you, and your body felt warm. It was an odd feeling you got when you were around him, just as he was odd, but you welcomed it nonetheless.
Hours had passed since the rain ceased and still Thorin lead you further down your intended path. The sun was burning hot against the company’s backs now, and soaked cloaks and drenched hair had been dried and braided back to keep out of the faces of the traveling dwarves. By now you felt as if you had a good idea on how to stay comfortable while riding a pony, however your techniques varied depending on which dwarf was your riding buddy. Only one stop had been made earlier on, to allow the dwarves and others to stretch and have a light snack. And now you were on your second. Thorin had declared a while back that this stop would be a bit longer than normal, though he didn’t state his reason for that, and most of the dwarves cheered at the statement.
Your cloak was hanging neatly over a branch as you rolled the sleeves to your tunic up. After weeks of traveling with only one pair of clothes, you were gifted with another set of clothing until you had a chance to clean your own. The tunic was slightly big on you, the hem reaching your upper thigh, and the trousers you had on hung loosely against your legs. You were as grateful as ever for the clothing. And it seemed that Ori was knitting you a sweater as well. You opposed of course, writing down that he didn’t need to waste his yarn and his time on fashioning something for you. But he insisted.
“You in there, Y/N?”
You shook your head and pushed Kili’s hand away from you when his knuckles knocked against your forehead. The sword in his hand glinted against the sunlight as he backed away. You looked down to the matching sword in your hand, your fingers tightening around the hilt as you weighed the weapon in your hand while inspecting the blade. The dwarvish sword certainly was quite heavy. Your arms struggled to lift the heavy metal each time you raised it to defend yourself from Kili’s weak attacks, and you had a feeling that if he had been using his full strength that you and the sword would’ve gone flying at a particularly high blow. But as time went on it became easier for you to lift the weapon. This was only one of many training sessions that the princes had put you through. At first they were hesitant to teach you to wield a sword, but you were a persistent person. You felt bad enough that they were always watching over you, ready with a raised bow and drawn swords to defend you from an attack. Though you appreciated it at first, you grew to hate it as time went on. You didn’t want to be defenseless anymore, to constantly rely on them to protect you. So you asked them to train you, to show you how to fight and wield a weapon. And they did.
“Remember to keep your elbows in, Y/N.” Fili called from the sidelines, his hair bouncing around his face while he nodded after he saw you correct your stance. "Feet apart— like that!" It had been hard for you at first to learn the fighting style that the dwarves used in battle. You found you had to tweak it here and there, as your body wasn’t quite the same as theirs was. And you were proud to say— as were Fili and Kili— that you had come along quite well with your training. Be that it may have been only a couple of weeks and that you still weren’t as steady as you would’ve liked, but you thought you could wield a sword fairly well.
Metal clashed against metal as Kili brought his sword down again, your knees buckling ever so slightly when the weight of it hit against your own sword. Sweat lined your forehead and dripped down your back as you deflected another blow of his. He didn't seem to be any better. He had shed his coat and was in his tunic, and you found it a bit surprising that he was working up a sweat as you sparred this time around. You watched the way Kili held himself as he went to attack again, his shoulders squared as he has taught you, but his body was oddly open for someone in ‘battle’. You quirked an eyebrow when you realized he small mistake, and suddenly feeling a bit adventurous, you took a step forward before locking blades with his. Sparks ignited suddenly when you slid your blade against his own, and you couldn’t help the triumph that burned in your chest when you saw Kili’s eyes widen when you hooked the tip of your blade against the hilt of his sword and pushed him back a bit. With a flick of your wrist his sword was knocked out of his hand and crashed to the ground. You locked eyes with him, your heart swelling with joy when you saw the disbelief swimming through his, and his hands raised in surrender when you stepped forward to set the tip of your blade against his neck gently.
You were unaware of watchful eyes as you and Kili sparred, so when a chorus of claps and cheers sounded throughout the camp at your small victory, your eyes blew wide. Kili clapped his hands along with the others as you dropped your sword to the ground with a huff, your arms now shaking from holding the heavy weapon for too long. “Well done, Y/N!” Kili’s hand landed heavily against your shoulder after he retrieved his fallen sword. “You’re getting stronger everyday, don’t you think so uncle?”
The temporary camp grew quiet as they all looked towards Thorin. His eyes were set upon you and Kili, and it seemed that the little sparring match between the two of you had interested him as well. You suddenly braced yourself for his words when he looked to you, his piercing eyes running over your sore and sweat-lined body. You knew that Thorin was an exceptional fighter, if not that best within the company, and surely he was bound to insult you on your poor form or lack of upper body strength. It was true that he wasn’t as cruel as he was when you first joined the company, but you could still sense a feeling of hesitation that Thorin had whenever he looked or spoke towards you. You couldn’t help but shy away from his gaze as he continued to silently watch you, your hands shakily picking up your fallen sword to place it back into its scabbard.
“Her form is quite odd,” Thorin’s voice finally sounded out and your breath lodged in your throat at the dulcet tone. “And she’s not quite holding the sword as she should, but—“ You froze hearing his last words. You couldn’t help it as you I looked over to him again, and to your surprise you found him staring straight at you. His eyes were shadowed by his eyebrows as he observed you, his arms crossed over his broad chest. You could feel yourself bristle under his stare and for the longest time you were sure that he wasn’t going to continue. But when you saw his lips twitch under his beard, you could’ve sworn your heart jolted. “— you’re improving, Y/N.” Thorin’s voice seemed lighter as he spoke directly to you, and the company of dwarves all seemed a bit surprised at their leaders sudden change in attitude, yet a few of them hummed in agreement to his next words. “You are doing well.”
The company went quiet when Thorin gave you a small nod. Your eyes blew wide at his compliment, and you wanted to run for the hills when you locked gazes with him. You couldn’t read the expression he had on his face, and his eyes were once again shadowed, but something was swimming in them, something you had never seen before. Something almost soft and warm. Moments of silence passed before he finally turned away from you to address the company, yet you kept your gaze on him. “We leave in ten minutes.” Thorin’s eyes fell upon you for a second more until Dwalin called him away, and it wasn’t until a hand was placed against your shoulder did you look away from the dwarven king.
“Told you he’d warm up to you eventually.” You looked to see Fili smiling warmly at you, his fingers digging into your shoulder slightly before he held out his canteen. You accepted the drink with a smile, the cold liquid soothing the ache in your throat and wetting your chapped lips. After handing him his water back you rested the weight of the sword in your hands again. “He’s right you know,” As you gripped the hilt with your fingers you looked to Fili in question. A dull ache settled in your arms as you tried to lift the weapon again, and you were soon to give up on lifting it, instead opting to sit against a rock as the prince continued. “You’re getting better, and stronger too.” To make his point Fili’s fingers gently kneaded your growing biceps and his lips spread into a smile when you blushed and pulled away from him.
“I agree!” Kili had come to your other side, his hair having been braided back and away from his neck to cool him off some. He took the spot next to you on the rock to rest for a moment. “In no time at all you’ll be as good a fighter as anyone here— well, except for Bilbo that is.”

It wasn’t long before the company grew tired again. Shortly after your sparring match with Kili and after the two of you had cleaned up, the company packed up their things and mounted their ponies. Fili happened to be your riding buddy this time around, as Bofur seemed to want some time to himself. You apologized as best as you could for disturbing him, yet he didn’t seem to be put out about it, seeing as wherever you were, the princes were soon to follow. Most of your time on the pony was spent with you and Fili chatting away— well him speaking and you replying on his palm. After the first couple of hours of discussing different weapons, how to improve your fighting, and for some reason why hair grew at different rates on different people, Kili came by and started another conversation with Fili.
For the time being, as the two brothers talked, you leaned against Fili’s back as you wrapped your arms around his middle. You felt him tense for a quick second when your front fell against him and your cheek landed on the hood of his coat, but he was quick to relax again. Kili took notice of the small smile that pulled up his brother’s lips as he eyes subconsciously glanced back to you, but he only brushed it off as Fili just checking up on you. Occasionally the brothers switched from English to Khuzdul, and you assumed it was because they were discussing something that you didn’t necessarily need to know of, so you paid no mind to them. Your eyes fluttered shut when a gentle breeze blew over your body, rustling your hair and pushing it behind your ears as you relaxed while listening to them speak. The language sounded rough to you at first, but the longer you heard it being spoken the more you found it quite easy to listen too. And you’d be lying if you said you didn’t know a couple of words in their language by now. But that didn’t necessarily mean you could speak yet.
Despite the hours you spent trying to talk and formulate sounds, you still were yet to speak. The company had grown accustomed to the sound of your laughter and little grunts and squeaks that you used to communicate, but something was still blocking you from actually speaking. Gandalf had been cornered many times by Fili and Kili about it, the princes questioning him on whether or not he could help you speak again. But even the wise wizard was at a loss as to what was causing your voice to be lost. Many times had you sat down in front of the others while they sounded out words— some even in Khuzdul, much to your entertainment— yet each time you opened your mouth to speak, nothing except for a small gasp of air or a little squeak fell past your lips. Defeat was sure to settle in your heart after each failed attempt at speaking. But they were quick to reassure you that you’d be speaking again, and that all they had to do was “figure out what in Mahal’s name is blocking your voice!’.
Your memory situation wasn’t any better either. While yes, you were starting to see flashes of what you assumed was your home before your time with the dwarves, you still couldn’t seem to remember any names or faces. Outlines of glowing bodies is all you saw, and whenever your vision would pan to their faces, something like a static screen would shroud their faces and cloud your vision. At first you thought these dreams were of angels. But soon you could hear them speak. They were calling your name and you would respond, but you sounded like a child— no more than a toddler it seemed to you. So you assumed they were your parents. But that was all you could remember; glowing bodies and old homes, nothing more and nothing less.
“We camp here for the night!”
You jolted up when Thorin’s voice called out. You shook your head to try and rid yourself of the sleep that clouded your mind and fogged your eyes. You let out a sigh when Fili led your shared pony into a small clearing, yet your breath got caught in your throat when you saw the remnants of what looked to be an old house. Fili held on to your arm and waist gently as he helped you down from the pony, and once he was sure that you were firmly on the ground he gave you a smile. “Fili, Kili!” Thorin had another stern look on his face as he looked towards his nephews, and you failed to notice the quirk of his eyebrow when he saw how you lingered near Fili. “Look after the ponies.” He commanded, turning away from them and instead calling for another pair of dwarves. “Oin, Gloin— get a fire going.”
Fili turned back to you with a sheepish smile on his face. “Looks like I’m on pony duty tonight.” He told you. He seemed to be hesitant in leaving you. You gave him a reassuring smile before grasping his hand to give it a small squeeze, your hair bouncing around your neck when you nodded for him to go. Kili had already begun collecting some of the ponies, while a few dwarves decided to help the prince lead their animals to whatever clearing he could find. “If you need anything— and it could be the smallest thing,” He gave you a pointed look. “Come get me or Kili, okay?”
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes at his statement, but to ease the seemingly continuous sense of worry that resided in him you nodded your head as you smiled. With that Fili turned to collect the rest of the ponies, and you once again found yourself looking towards the burnt looking house. Curiosity got the better of you and you soon found yourself wandering in between the pillaged home, your fingers dancing over the cracked wood. A feeling of dread and what felt like a touch of evil was quick to wash over you when you touched the wood, and you frowned when the feeling only grew the longer you stood in the house. Soon enough you found yourself standing behind Thorin as he conversed with Gandalf, the latter meeting you eyes for a quick second before he looked back to the Dwarven leader with a stern glare.
“I think it would be wise to move on.” Gandalf stated, eliciting a small scoff from Thorin while you rose an eyebrow. “We could make for the Hidden Valley.”
“I have told you already, I will not go near that place.”
You couldn’t help the confusion that ran through your body at Thorin’s words and the bitterness that laced them. Surely Gandalf knew of a better, safer place than in a clearing with a burnt house— one that made you feel worried no less— so what made Thorin so hesitant to go near this Valley? “Why not?” Gandalf seemed to grow more frustrated as the conversation went on, and for a second you felt bad for intruding on their conversation. You took a tiny step back as you grasped another pillar of old wood, hiding behind it to give them a bit more privacy. “The elves could help us. We could get food, rest, advice.” Elves? At this point you wouldn’t doubt that Elves existed, especially after spending nearly a month with dwarves, a hobbit and a wizard. But what was the look that Gandalf shot you when speaking of advice? Could the Elves have some ideas on why you couldn’t talk?
Hope sprouted in your chest at the thought, and the small smile that formed on your face grew as you looked towards Thorin as he went to reply. “I do not need their advice.” Thorin’s voice was cold and biting and though you couldn’t see the front of him, you were certain that his eyes were narrowed in a heavy glare. His words made the smile on your face disappear. You weren’t entirely sure he knew that you were standing behind him, but even if he did his words burned your hope of finding out why you couldn’t speak and then of talking again at the roots. If Thorin didn’t want to go see the Elves, the one race that might be able to fix you, then surely you would not go.
“We have a map that we cannot read. Lord Elrond could help us—“
“Help? A dragon attacks Erebor and what help comes from the Elves?” You couldn’t help the small gasp that came from you at Thorin’s words. “Orcs plunder Moria, desecrate our sacred halls, the Elves look on and do nothing.” A sudden bout of sympathy and sorrow buzzed through your body at his comment and you couldn’t help but feel for the dwarf. It was true that you had no idea what it was that the dwarves— namely Thorin— went through, and even though you were told the stories you never did quite understand it all. But the utter anger and woe that was sewn in with Thorin’s words troubled you. “You ask me to seek out the very people who betrayed grandfather and betrayed my father?”
“You are neither of them.” Your eyes traveled to Gandalf when he spoke, his voice lowering when the touchy subject was spoken of, yet he still held a snappy tone in his words. “I did not give you the map and key for you to hold on to the past.”
“I did not know that they were yours to keep.” That seemed to be the last straw for Gandalf. The wizard let out a huff before spinning on his heels and retreating. You noticed how he shot you one last look before he stomped away from the house and towards the edge of the forest, and it wasn’t until you took another step forward did Thorin finally turn away. You froze when his eyes finally landed on your figure. His eyebrows quirked upon seeing you there, yet his lips turned down in a scowl when he realized that you had most likely heard his conversation with Gandalf. Not wanting to anger him more you raised your hands in defense while taking a small step back.
“I gather you heard everything.” Thorin’s voice was low and somewhat timid when he finally spoke. When you didn’t respond right away he shot you a questioning look, one to which you quickly nodded before hiding your arms behind your back under your cloak. He seemed to deflate at your response, his chest heaving with a deep sigh. Thorin remained silent for the time being when he stepped forward and towards what used to be a fireplace. You watched him as he seemed to fall into a deep thought. His eyebrows were knitted deeply together as he zoned out for a moment, and what light was left from the shining sun seemed to darken the lines that were on his face. He looked so tired and so angry. For the first time since joining the company you found yourself feeling sorry for him, and you didn’t even realize that you had moved again until you were beside him.
When your hand was set upon his shoulder he jumped a bit, his eyes widening for a moment when he looked towards your fingers curling around his coat and then to your face. Your lips were curled up in the smallest of smiles and your eyes were swimming with something Thorin couldn’t quite understand. You weren’t sure what compelled you to do so, but you found yourself reaching for his wrist, and when your fingers touched his skin you gently turned his palm to the sky. He flinched at the sudden touch at first but he didn’t pull away. Thorin had seen you do this with his nephews nearly hundreds of times before, and he couldn’t help but wonder what it was that you exactly did when cradling their hands. But now that you were doing the same to him, your palm holding the back of his hand gently while your finger traced letters against his palm, he felt himself freeze.
ELVES ARE BAD?
Thorin’s eyebrows raised to his hairline at your question. It definitely wasn’t the one he was expecting you to ask, and it brought a chuckle to come tumbling past his thin lips. He merely nodded his head in reply to your question before he looked back to your hands, your finger now gliding across his skin again. However, instead of paying attention to the letters you were drawing on his skin Thorin found himself paying more attention to the feeling of your hand against his. Your palm felt rather soft as it held on to his calloused one, and your finger left small tingles against his palm while your nails dragged across the skin. It brought shivers to his spine. After a while Thorin had noticed you stopped writing and when he looked up to you, he found you were looking at him, eyebrows raised and lips curled into a small grin. “My apologies,” He looked away for a second, his free hand clenching by his side. You easily repeated your past actions and traced your finger over his palm again, this time with him paying attention.
TELL ME ABOUT THEM?
“Maybe another time, Y/N.” Thorin failed to notice the frown that spread across your face when he dropped his hand from your grasp and he looked away. “For now, you should rest with the others.” You followed close behind Thorin as he walked to the edge of the burnt house, his eyes scanning the company of dwarves that were either sat around the fire or still unpacking their things. He hummed upon finding one dwarf in particular. “Come on, Bombur, we’re hungry.”
After that you shared another look with Thorin when he turned to you, this time his eyes softening when you smiled before he stalked off. You watched him for a while longer before you stepped down onto a rock in front of the house, your back facing the inside of the old and ransacked house as you looked out to the dwarves. Dread still lingered over you when you were in the house, but it seemed stepping out onto the open lifted that feeling a bit. As commanded Bombur worked quickly to put together some supper. You weren’t quite sure what it was that he was cooking, but at that point you didn’t care. Your stomach was rumbling and aching with hunger. The dwarf was kind enough to relieve you of your duties for the night, allowing you to rest for the time being as he chopped herbs and splashed what few spices he had into the broth. You were thankful for him doing that, but silently promised that you would at least wash whatever bowls and utensils that needed to be cleaned at the end of the night. It wasn’t long before the sun fully set and disappeared behind the hills of the horizon, and soon enough the moon replaced it, followed by millions of burning stars.
Shortly after Bombur had finished cooking and called for the company to come get their fill, you were sat snuggly between Ori and his older brother, Dori. The younger of the two had finished his supper in record time, explaining that if he did so he would have more time to work on your sweater. Dori, though smiling at the fact that Ori wanted to make something for you, scolded his brother for scarfing his food down so fast. You chuckled at the brothers, watching as Ori expertly worked his needles around the thick olive yarn as you scooped spoonfuls of your supper into your mouth.
“He’s been gone a long time.” You turned away from Ori when Bilbo spoke up for the first time in a while. His gaze was fixated on the edge of the forest, the same spot where Gandalf had disappeared into hours before. You frowned upon realizing that his words were true. It had been quite some time since the wizard wandered off to collect his thoughts and calm down again, and in thinking back to his argument your eyes wandered over to where Thorin was sat. The frown on your face sunk in deeper when you noticed his lack of food and that he was isolated from the company. Even Dwalin was being social and was mingling with his brother a bit.
“Who?” You stood up when Bofur questioned the hobbit. You had finished your own supper seconds beforehand, and as you handed him your bowl you saw how his smile widened. He must’ve thought that you were hungry for more, and while on a normal night you would’ve welcomed seconds, you shook your head. Instead your finger pointed towards an empty bowl that had yet to be filled with supper.
“Gandalf.”
Bofur seemed confused by your request at first, but when you motioned to where Thorin was sitting by himself, a fond smile formed on his lips under his beard before he replied to Bilbo. “He’s a wizard. He does as he chooses.” After filling the bowl with supper and handing you a small loaf of bread Bofur gave the back of your hand a small pat. He had seen the way Thorin’s attitude had been changing towards you little-by-little, and your little interaction earlier made his chest fill with pride; the dwarf felt proud that you were finally giving the leader of the company a chance. “Here, do us a favor. Take this to the lads." Bofur watched your retreating figure for a second before he filled and handed two bowls off to Bilbo, giving the hobbit a look before turning back to Bombur, giving his hand a small smack. “You’ve had enough! Save some for the rest of us!”
It seemed that everyone in the company knew of your intentions as you weaved your way through them. You could feel them smile at you or give you encouraging gestures as you neared Thorin, your cloak brushing against fallen logs and jagged rocks. Especially Balin. The white-bearded dwarf seeming to have glowing eyes as he watched you, his lips turned up in a smile as he talked with Dwalin. Your steps stilled when you were a few feet away from him, and it seemed he still had yet to notice you. His eyes were cast over the dark horizon and on to the hilly plains. He seemed deep in thought again, and it wasn’t until you cleared your throat that he finally looked at you.
“Y/N. What’re you— oh…” Thorin’s eyes found your outstretched hands and the bowl of supper you were offering him. Upon looking to the food his stomach let out a monsterous growl. You weren’t sure if it was because of the exhaustion that was messing with your vision or the shadow of the fire, but you could’ve sworn you caught a blush settling under his beard and on top of his nose. “Thank you.” His fingers brushed against the top of your hands as you passed him the bowl of warm supper, and his lips turned up into a smile when he did so. Just as before your skin felt soft against his own. You gracefully returned the smile once he had his supper in his hands, and you gave a small nod before lacing your fingers together behind your back as you turned to leave. But he stopped you. “Y/N, wait. Would you sit with me. I would like to.. discuss something with you.”
You froze at his words. As you turned back to face him you wrapped your cloak tighter around your body, a sudden feeling of dread washing over you again. However whatever it is he wanted to discuss wasn’t something you needed to fear, it seemed, as the look on his face was soft and almost kind. His eyes seemed lighter in the moonlight and a sincere smile was on his face. Thorin had moved to the side a bit, allowing a small space for you to sit next to him. “Please, Y/N.” Your feet seemed to move on their own and soon you were standing in front of the spot, your knee just brushing the fabric that covered his own. You looked between the open space and him for a moment as a hesitancy filled your gut. This had been the first day that he had tried to engage in civil conversation with you, and even though you found his words oddly pleasant, you couldn’t help but shy away a bit, fearing that maybe he would revert to his old self and go back to hating you. But you compiled anyways, yet anxiety still settled in your stomach as you sat next to him.
“I just want to… apologize for my actions towards you. I have not been the most civil dwarf towards you.” You kept your eyes on your fingers as you listened to his words. It was shocking to hear them fall past his lips in such a hurry as they did, and you didn’t doubt that if you were to be looking at him he wouldn’t be looking back at you. “I understand if you are not willing to accept my apology right away, as I know that since your arrival I have been nothing but cruel towards you. Truly I am sorry for the way I’ve treated you. Had I realized earlier that.. that you—“ By now your gaze had landed on Thorin as he voiced out his apology, but for some reason he seemed at a loss for words now as he clenched his jaw. His apology sent your heart soaring into the sky and you felt relief flood your veins. You could see he was still trying to figure out what to say next, and when gratitude sparked in your stomach you reached out for him again, your fingers curling around his thick ones. Thorin glanced to the way your hand wrapped around his own, and he couldn’t help but smile. “I do not deserve the patience and kindness you have shown me, Y/N.”
It was true, he didn’t think he deserved how kind you had been to him and how patience you were. It was often that during your travels that his words were biting and intending to harm you, but each time you merely nodded and complied with his commands. Granted, you never really smiled as much as you had smiled towards him this day, but you never once defied him. Mostly it was out of fear that you didn’t go against him, but he always saw you pressing on. When you shifted your hold on his hand to press a finger against his palm Thorin looked down, his blue eyes watching as you drew soft letters into his skin.
YOU HAD REASONS.
Thorin frowned at this. Yes, he did have his reasons for acting cold towards you, but that didn’t mean they were necessarily good reasons. He kept quiet when your fingers moved again, this time his eyes lingering on your face rather than on how your fingers moved against his skin. You eyes were shining with sincerity as looked down, your lips pursed and your teeth gnawing on the skin of your cheek every so often. The way your skin seemed to glisten in the moonlight was something that Thorin had never noticed before. Neither had he paid any mind to the way your hair seemed to fall in soft waves over your ears. A sense of longing suddenly erupted in the pit of his stomach, his fingers suddenly itching to caress the strands of your hair and comb them with his fingers. Yet he shook the feeling away when your fingers tapped against his palm two times, gaining his attention again. You went back to writing for the third time, and this time Thorin made sure to not let his eyes wander.
ALL IS FORGIVEN.
“Are you certain?” Thorin’s voice was tight and he suddenly scooped your hand into his large ones. The look he sent your way caused your breath to hitch. “I know I cannot change what happened but I—“ You were quick to cut him off with a tight squeeze to his hand. Once again your lips were pulled into a smile, though this one larger than ever before, and you nodded frantically hoping that he understood. All at once he seemed to relax, relief causing him to heave out a deep sigh. His fingers tightened around yours once more and the smile on his face shone with gratitude. A peaceful silence fell upon the two of you shortly after that, yet your hands stayed locked together when you looked out into the twinkling stars that covered the sky. The smile on your face was soft and genuine, and for a moment you felt that after your warm supper, your new friendship with Thorin, and the sudden buzzing feeling of contentment in your heart that you would sleep like a baby tonight.
But the moment of peace and stillness didn’t last for much longer. You jumped when Fili came bursting through the tree’s, face red and chest heaving as he stumbled to a stop as his hands dropped against his knees while he gasped for air. Your eyes blew wide at the sight and worry spread through you as you went to go to him, your cloak blowing behind you as you dashed forward. Thorin dropped your hand as you did so, but not before his fingers brushed against your palm as he let you go. You stopped, however, just by the fire when Fili jumped up, eyes wide with fear as he looked around the camp. When his eyes landed on you he reached forward, fingers beckoning you to come to him. Yet as he spoke, your blood ran cold with fear as you stayed glued to your spot.
“Trolls!”

Hey! Could you do a part 2 of that company x trans male reader? I thought it would be cute to see them being caring and overprotective after the reader gets top surgery. They put up with the elves for the reader since they're the best surgeons and stuff like that?
Hello!!!! Here you go, love! I hope you enjoy it, the bonus is actually something that happened to a poor guy at a noodle stand. He was just trying to make some noodles and started getting harassed by an old man who thought just because he was trans that it made it okay. (Luna/Balin/Dwalin to the rescue) 😂
You didn’t think this could have ever been possible. After you told the Company about your gender reassignment, you thought they’d want to toss you out of the Company. Instead, they just confirmed the familial love they had for you, telling you they thought you were a man the entire time, and that that is what you’ll always be in their eyes.
However, you didn’t think they’d take it this far.
“We just want you to be happy, (Y/n),” Ori broke the silence as you stayed shockingly silent after what they had told you. They had organized a travel party to escort the finest healers of Rivendell to come with all their surgical and medicinal supplies to come and do what you thought could never be done. Make you truly feel like a man.
“W-we knew how much your chest bothered you, so we figured it would be sort of a welcoming gift?” Kili tried to explain, thinking you were mad at them for doing such a thing. You had decided to stay in Erebor after the Battle of The Five Armies, feeling that they were your true family, and going back to an empty house just didn’t sit well with any of you.
The dwarves silenced themselves once more as you opened your mouth to speak, “You…. “ You began, feeling the happiness bubble in your chest. “You’d put up with elves, for my sake?” You finished, tears building in your eyes as you tried to fight them back. But this was almost too much for your heart.
They cared, they genuinely cared. Your family all but disowned you when you told them you’d rather die than wear a corset and slip, forced to look like the one thing you knew you weren’t. But this band of dwarves, from varying crafts and statuses, cared for you like their own cousin, brother, son, and wanted you to be truly happy in your skin. Going even as far as getting the absolute best surgeons to help you.
The dwarves couldn’t help but smile as you let the few tears drop, hugging the closest dwarf, which happened to be Bombur. “Thank you all, so much,” You gasped out as they pulled you into a group hug, affectionately patting the top of your head.
“You’ve done much more for us, (Y/n),” Thorin spoke up finally after all the tears and hugging was over. You had saved his life from Azog, to him, this was such a small price to pay in return.
.
.
.
To say the dwarves were overprotective, was an understatement.
It took the elves so much patience to keep them out of the operating room to keep an eye on you, to make sure the elves weren’t hurting you, to make sure you were safe.
You’d always found it adorable during the journey, how they’d dote on you. Not out of any ill will, no, they knew you were a capable soldier, but you were the youngest. Being so, they felt the need to look after you more, give you a bigger serving of food for your muscle growth, give you first pick of where you’d put your bedroll, etc.
As the sedative wore off, you felt groggy as you opened your eyes, shocked to see all the dwarves and Bilbo hovering over your healing bed.
“U-Uh…” You didn’t know what to say, or what to do as they grinned down at you.
You knew this would be a long, long, recovery.
.
.
.
BONUS BOI
As you settled into Erebor, you obtained the title of King’s advisor alongside Dwalin and Balin, Balin able to give wisdom from his years of being alongside his forefathers, Dwalin able to give battle strategy, and you, well you were able to give a new perspective and strategy ideas that no dwarf could think of. Because you didn’t think like a dwarf in any manner, Thorin found that invaluable when it came to planning and trying to strengthen relations.
“Can you go over these?” Thorin handed you the treaty agreement, having called you into meeting between Thorin and rulers of a small city of men. “Why are you having a woman look over our documents? I can assure you everything is in order.” The older man sneered, looking you up and down.
You felt your heart break slightly as you became more self-aware. You hadn’t cut your hair in a while, now down near your jaw, giving the man a more feminine view of you. Despite you being more muscular and growing a beard now, apparently, it wasn’t enough for them.
The growl Thorin released almost sounded inhuman, “I will not have you come in here, demanding things from my kingdom and then insulting my greatest warrior amongst my ranks.” Thorin kept his voice strangely cool. “See them out,” Thorin muttered, ripping up the treaty as the men began to yell, not liking this ‘mistreatment’.
“Oh, and gentlemen,” Balin stopped them, raising his hand, “(Y/n) is more of a man than any of you could ever be.”

My fandoms and my favorite characters and ships
I’m going to talk about all my fandoms and my top one or two characters from each fandom, and my top OTP from each one, if I have any. I’m going in order from when they entered my life.
Star Trek: The Next Generation
I watched TNG when it first aired in 1987. It was my first fandom and my most time honored fandom. I literally grew up watching it as a child, until it ended in about 1994, when I was about 10. I didn’t know about ships or OTPs or anything back then (no internet cuz you know... it was the 80′s and I was a child). But I did have my favorites:
Favorite Characters
Captain Picard: Seriously Picard is awesome. He was my first role model. He always had an important lesson to teach and he always did the right thing. I had tons of different Captain Picard action figures.
Tumblr media
Dr. Crusher:  She was probably my very first girl crush. I seriously loved Dr. Crusher. I thought she was tough and smart. In the 80s, when women were beginning to be able to go to college and stuff, she was especially important because she was the Chief Medical officer. She had an important role on the ship.
Tumblr media
OTP: It shouldn’t come as a surprise that my OTP for TNG is Picard and Crusher. I wanted them to get together so bad!! My favorite episode was “attached” an episode in season seven where the two of them were stranded on a deserted planet and could hear each other’s thoughts. They learned about their intimate dreams and their feelings for each other.
Star Trek Deep Space Nine:
Deep Space Nine is near and dear to me because it was MY show. I watched it as a young teenager. It was there for me when I was dealing with some dark times in my life, and dealing with the challenges of being a teenager. it was the first fandom that I wrote fan fiction for. Of course, there was no internet then either, so it was just on notebooks and those notebooks have been lost in time. But even now, Deep Space Nine is my default when I can’t decide what to watch. Its my comfort zone, it’s where I feel safe. It was also one of the first times I felt moved by a show ending. I mourned TNG but I was too young. DS9 left just a void and there was no netflix to take comfort in, so no reruns.
Kira Nerys
I loved Kira so much! She was so bad ass. I seriously wanted to be her back in the day. She had a quick temper and she could be stubborn but she had a very tough past. She was a terrorist. She fought for her people’s freedom and she cared deeply for her planet. She dealt with some serious trauma and PTSD because she had been fighting as a resistance fighter since she was a child. It’s all she knew. Living in caves, starving, surviving. She taught me how to be resourceful, my favorite quote is when she said if you need a hammer, use a wrench.
Tumblr media
Constable Odo
Odo was the sheriff in town. He cared about justice and getting at the truth and he tended to be very hardline about it. He took his work very seriously. I loved his banter with Quark. Odo was the observer, he was on no one’s side but he didn’t hesitate to give his opinion and he wasn’t a fan of authority. He did things his way.
Tumblr media
OTP: Kira and Odo! I shipped them so hardback in the day! I knew they had something from the very beginning. In season one I shipped them. I was waiting through the whole show to see them be canon, only to be crushed when Odo left in the series finale! That kiss on the promenade was probably the best thing that ever happened to me!
Star Trek Voyager
I admit I didn’t get into Voyager right away. I was mourning for DS9 and couldn’t handle any more Star Trek spin-offs at the time. So I didn’t get into it until it had already been syndicated. But when I did, it definitely hit me hard. I was going through my early community college years, making friends, I met my husband around this time. I moved away from my parents. There were a lot of changes in my life so VOY came into my life at an important time.
Captain Janeway
Of course, I love her! She’s the captain! She’s smart, she’s tough, and she doesn’t take crap from anyone. She was another huge role model in my life. She was a scientist and a leader. Her crew mattered the most to her and it was through her that I learned about sacrifice and bravery.
Tumblr media
Commander Chakotay
I liked Chakotay. I liked his spiritual side. I happen to be part Native American so that’s something I related to him with. He was a strong sensitive type. The warrior.
Tumblr media
OTP: Janeway and Chakotay of course! I wanted them to get together so bad! It kills me when they had so many close chances that never happened. I mean it was so clear that they loved each other and that Chakotay/Seven thing at the end was a total slap in the face to us Janeway/Chakotay fans! I still hate the writers for that! it totally ruined the series finale for me.
X-files: So begins the era of stuff that husband introduced me to, starting with X-files. I had never watched it back when it was on because I only had eyes for Star Trek, but my husband, who was my boyfriend at the time, introduced me to pretty much every fandom from here on out. X-files was his show, its what he grew up on.
Scully: I’m a total Scully girl. I love her! She’s a scientist and she wears a gun. Total badass! And I love that even though her scientific mind, she was also spiritual which, as a pagan, I can relate. She knows that she is in a male-dominated occupation but she doesn’t let it bother her and isn't afraid to give people a piece of her mind.
Tumblr media
Mulder
You can’t have Scully without Mulder! I love how dedicated to the cause he was. And my husband and I have this on going joke that whenever you see a top secret secured area you have to wonder if Mulder has broken into it yet. Cuz he always manages to get to places where he isn’t exactly supposed to be.
Tumblr media
OTP: Mulder and Scully of course! Mulder may be a goof ball but he has said some of the most romantic, amazing things. “You were my constant” that whole speech right there was amazing.
Lord of the Rings
My husband introduced me to Lord of the Rings. I never read the books until I met him and even then, I’ve only read the Fellowship, but I loved the movies. They are my ultimate sick day splurge. I plan a LOTR/hobbit marathon when I get sick.
Aragorn: I think we are seeing a pattern. I like the leader types. The warriors. Which is why I love Aragorn! Also, I’ve always had a thing for guys with long hair so there’s that. But yeah, Aragorn is the sensitive, courageous warrior but he also has this self-doubt. He worries that he won't live up to what everyone knows he must become.
Tumblr media
Faramir
The younger brother to Boromir. I hate how Faramir’s father treated him and I think it’s sad how he still looked up to him and to his brother. He was brave but he had a kind heart and he deserved better than Denethor.
Tumblr media
OTP: To be honest, I didn’t really ship anyone from Lord of the Rings.
Rurouni Kenshin
I’ve never really been into anime but this is the one exception. And of course, my husband introduced me. He’s been a fan of the anime and the manga. I like this anime for it’s historical content. I am a history major and I love fandoms that make the setting a big part of the show. Like the setting itself is a character too, and this was certainly true in Kenshin. Meiji Japan was a character in the show in many ways. I really loved how it tied history into everything, describing Japan’s beginning of imperialism and its rise that would eventually put it on the world stage.
Kenshin
Kenshin is my favorite character! The wandering Samurai who just wants to protect people. He’s the warrior type just like all my other favorites.
Tumblr media
OTP: I didn’t really ship anyone, although I did have a soft spot for Kenshin/Kauru and Sanosuke/Megumi.
The Legends of Drizzt
My favorite book series of all time! I got so obsessed with the Drow through reading these books. My favorites were the first books about Drizzt and his homeland. This is also the first fandom my friend and I got really into and started RPGs with. WE had done RPGs with Voyager and X-files crossovers but this was probably the longes RPG series we did.
Drizzt Do’Urdon: Drizzt and Kenshin have a lot of similarities. Drizzt is another warrior type. He was abused by his female-dominated society until he finally had the courage to do what few drow ever did- leave. He faced hatred and discrimination on the surface because everyone feared the Drow.
Tumblr media
OTP: I didn’t really ship anyone. I liked Drizzt/Cattie-brie and I thought it would have been nice if he got to reconcile with Ellifain and maybe they could have been together, but that’s all.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
I wouldn’t say I am a hardcore Buffy fangirl, but I love the show. My sisters were really obsessed with it back in the day and they both know every single episode by heart. My husband is a huge fan so he finally got me to watch it.
Willow Rosenburg
Willow’s my favorite! She’s nerdy, geeky, and witchy. She’s been Buffy’s number one and she’s no side kick, she can handle her own. I was a nerd in school, and still am so I get her.
Tumblr media
OTP: I liked Buffy and Angel and Willow and Tara. I also thought maybe Xander and Spike would have been cool, or maybe Xander and Andrew.
The Hobbit
I loved the Hobbit movies despite the criticism. They were my first attempt at publishing fiction online. I have a bunch of my old Hobbit fics on Fan Fiction.net still. I also have saved some of my all time favorite Hobbit fics. I love the brotherly love between Fili and Kili and fan fic writers did such a good job of capturing it!
Fili
I am on the ‘justice for Fili’ team for sure. I seriously feel like Fili deserved way more than what he got in the movies. The third movie irritated me because Fili hardly got a part. It’s like he wasn’t even there. Fili was Thorin’s heir and I just think fan fiction does a way better job of giving him the love he deserved.
Tumblr media
Kili
I loved Kili. He’s the younger brother so he feels he has to prove to Thorin- his hero- that he can do what needs to get done. I think it hurt him to be left behind.
Tumblr media
OTP: No OTPS here, I don’t really ship anyone. I wasn’t a fan of the Kili/Tauriel thing at all. When I write Hobbit fics, I have these OCs I have been using for years that I ship with Fili and Kili but that’s all.
Supernatural
Last but not least! Supernatural is my last fandom. I’ve been a part of it for about three or four years. It’s my most current, the one I’m into the most at the moment. After it ends, that will be it! No more fandoms for me, all my fandoms will be things of the past. But my husband introduced me to it. He and I both have an interest in theology so that’s why we got into it, for all the angel and religious aspect. I like the mystic stuff, and I like how angels and demons are these different species with their own rules and such. That is the thing I’ve always loved about science fiction and fantasy- I love learning about non human cultures. I like learning how their society is.
Hannah
Hannah is my current crush these days. I love her. I pretty much think she is a goddess. I have so many reasons. I love that she is a soldier and she’s tough, I love that she has flaws but that she’s brave. Her inner conflict was the best part of her character, how she struggled with her sense of law and justice and with her emotions. She seemed to struggle a lot with trying to process the things she felt. I can honestly say that she is the closest I’ve ever seen to a female person with autism in any of my fandoms. That’s why I love her so much, I relate to her on such a personal level, being autistic myself. She inspires my writing and my art so much. She’s probably my favorite character out of all my fandoms right now. I’ve never related to a character more than I do to her. She is the character I love to play the most because she feels comfortable to me.
Tumblr media
Castiel
When it comes to team free will, I am a Cas-girl all the way! Who doesn’t love that adorable little angel? I feel like Castiel’s whole time on the show has been so sad. He rebelled for his friends and ever since then, it’s been one disaster after another with him and even now when season 15 is about to come out, I don’t think he’s ever found true happiness, and that hurts. He misses being an angel and it hurts that they don’t accept him for who he is. I’ve tried to touch upon Castiel’s emotional health a lot in my writing because I don’t think the show does a good job of addressing it. He has done so much for the Winchesters but I don’t think he’s happy with how his life is now, especially after the end of the last season.
Tumblr media
OTP: Castiel and Hannah! My ultimate hardcore forever OTP. I truly believe Castiel loved Hannah and its clear that she loved him. She is one of the few people in Castiel’s life who seemed to truly, honestly want to address his needs. She literally begged him multiple times to take care of himself, and in true Winchester fashion, was willing to let Metatron out and this sacrifice the world, just to save Cas. She’s one of the few angels who cared about Castiel, even knowing what he’s done, none of that bothered her. In the beginning when they first met, when all the other angels wanted to kill him, she didn’t care what he had done and only left when she thought he had betrayed them and was quick to come back to him when she found out the truth. I love Castiel and Hannah, pretty much all my fics focus on them.
NOTE: Before you start getting all upset about the fact that all my OTP ships are m/f, I want to point some things out to you. First off, I am bi. Second of all, m/f doesn’t always equal straight and m/m or f/f doesn’t always equal gay. STOP IT WITH THE BI ERASURE!!! I have plenty of other ships but these are my top ships and yes I mostly ship m/f. Just because they all just happen to be my favorites. Maybe because all the above characters tend to have certain characteristics and certain traits and it's their personalities that I ship not their gender. Also, I have huge crushes on the above female AND male characters so again, it’s probably why I ship them. Also, I am demisexual so sex doesn’t really play a huge role in who I ship. A lot of these characters also have similarities to me and my husband, so I tend to ship what I see in real life. I actually ship plenty of other ships other than what’s listed, yes most are still m/f, but some are f/f and some are poly. I don’t ship a lot of m/m because, well, I just don’t. I haven’t found any m/m ships that I really ship. I am all about chemistry first and if I don’t feel it I don’t feel it. Since sex doesn’t play a factor in my ships much, I need them to connect mentally and emotionally much more than physically. I also value equality in relationships. I am not into the whole ‘opposites attract’ thing. Characters have to be compatible.
And one other thing. Chemistry is in the eye of the beholder. What one person sees as chemistry someone else might not agree and that’s okay. It’s okay to disagree it's not okay to be a hater.
