Just realized today that my accent in finnish is shit because the stress pattern of french is literally the exact opposite of the stress pattern of finnish 💀 french is last syllable while finnish is first syllable

I give up on getting the accent right from now on I will only try to speak finnish with the WORST french accent I can manage thank you for coming to my ted talk

Also, I am amazed, let me tell you- I never thought I'd ever get along so well with another language like I do with English, yet here I am, happily and proudly learning Finnish and already correctly piecing sentences together in which there are words I haven't learned yet, thus I'm figuring out the meanings of the words on my own without having to tap on them first to see said meaning. Bro. I swear, Finnish is made for Germans to learn.

My finnish course is over (I did the last lesson today) but I'm honestly wondering if I want to do the next course with the same teacher because the dude I have in the class is.... annoying and I would prefer to be in a course with not him in it lol (I'm sorry if it sounds rude to say, he's just very grating)

The teacher is great and I really like her, but the dude has already expressed the wish to enroll in the next course with her so I'm just like.....😬😬 Eeeeh god can I subject myself to more months with this dude in the course? I feel bad saying this because we're all here to learn, and I don't mean this in a demeaning/malicious way whatsoever, but he slows down the lessons a lot and wastes time talking about random stuff/needing to be corrected a lot and it just made me realize today that if I enroll in the next course with the teacher and he's there again, I might lose patience and make the whole experience bad for me only because he's there. (And I also might not get the same attention in the course because he's using all her time)

I really like the teacher and just wished I could have private lessons with her, though I don't think she does private lessons. I might go with a private iTalki teacher for this reason, but still idk. I feel kinda sad I could lose the possibility to learn with her cause she's really nice. Not sure what to do and I'm kinda bummed

I think swedish is a pretty easy language to learn for english speakers and a very pretty one at that too

#any Scandinavian language other than finnish should be relatively easy #compared to polish or something #swedish has almost all english tenses and a very similar gramatic structure #i think everyone should know 2 languages #really changes the way you think of other people when you realize how hard it is to learn

My favorite thing imo about LA is the countless communities and languages spoken. Like,,, there *are* abroad students where I live so i do hear a few different languages along with the older locals speaking Finnish, butlike. Fucking NO ONE UP HERE SPEAKS SPANISH AND IT SUCKS!!!! Most of my thoughts were in Spanish during my trip since I was reading and hearing a lot of it andlike. Being on the plane back home and not being able to ask for stuff in Spanish is justlike. Ughhhhhh i cant wait to live somewhere where it isnt English only

#vent? i guesssss? #just as i was about to vent about how im not sure if me and my gf are compatible in the long run #she writes me (and i didn't say anything to her) that she wants to change and work on herself and that she loves me #what do i do lol #anyways i just find it really hard to talk about myself with her #i can listen to her just fine. she always seems to have something to tell me about her day or her troubles #but when i share something i often don't get the feedback i need #and i wonder if it's a problem with my expectations or with her not understanding me #latest case. i told her that i want to learn another language #i asked what language should i try. she says german #i say that I'll probably never need it in my life and that finnish would be better bc it's my top pick of countries to maybe move to #she says something like 'ok then learn whatever language you want' (no the tone wasn't dismissive. it was fine) #and like. if i stayed quiet. that's it. that's conversation over #a month ago she told me to tell her more about my troubles since its her that mostly takes priority in our conversations. and like #for a person who told me something like this #to then be disinterested in what i have to say #ugh it's one of my squicks and it hurts me
