[My grandmother] had been married at fifteen, had borne seven children before she was twenty-four. With her hands she had sorted a lifetime of rice and lentils, had gutted fish and deboned chicken. She knew how to upholster furniture and help grapevine spread and climb, how to cover bruises and scars so no one could see them, how to measure the value of her life and still rise.

They should have let petra be funny. Like i have a lot of issues with how they handled people of color in three houses but like i think petra should be funnier, at least post timeskip. Like reading writing listening and speaking are very different linguistically and shes a very good student canonically so it stands to reason she can do the first two very well. But i just think it would be very good if she was Only Bad at Speaking. Like the amount of shit she could pull by understanding the language very well but no one realizing she does cause her grammars fucked is so much it would have been so good. Like imagine her alois supports but it turns out shes just fucking with him the whole time? Thats hysterical! Its boundless potential for both character development and comedy!

"And this is how we pray, ya Hamoud. When he was six, she had taught him to bend and clasp his knees with his hands, to touch his forehead to the ground. Her parents laughed that he was too young, but she had spent years waiting for him to grow, to learn words and what they meant, so that she could show him things, teach him what she knew; the alphabet and how to ride a bike, the names of animals alive and extinct, the planets in their solar system and their moons. So when she stood beside him on the prayer rug and told him to move as she did, he did as he was told, touching hands to chest and then to knees, forehead touching the carpet and back up again. For years after he would only pray if she led."

The other comment suggestion (thanks @randomrobin !) for a reptile laguz was a crocodile/alligator type, so here's a concept for that! Introducing Patra and Fang, the crocodile laguz:
Like the turtles, they also live on the reptile colony in Gallia, but a lot of these guys have been petitioning to be allowed into Goldoa... I have a feeling they'd be too rowdy for the dragons, don't you? ;)

You know now that you mention it, alot of the problems villains have are the restrictions on quirks or being put down because of them and since america's gun laws are this way maybe the problem with quirks wouldn't work the same or as much. Toga should move to America and be one of those crazies in the quirk version of the NRA
Toga could honestly just move to Florida and be considered boring and normal by comparison.
AU: The League moves to America for more lax Quirk restrictions and settles in Florida. They like it so much and Tomura is so far removed from his manipulative sensei that the whole revenge and changing society thing gets put on hold now that they're a Florida Found-Family
