I was about 5 years old and I was running down a hospital hallway that was also an airport with my father who was wearing surgeon scrubs. I believe we where being chased but I don’t know by who or by what. I then woke up in a police car that was inside a 1950s style car store. The car store also so happened to use to be the Fire Department and the fact the fire department got converted into a car dealership made me really sad. Next thing I know, I’m in my parents bedroom and a person who I think is my uncle was laying on the bed.

I found a half-used disposable camera from 2006 in my closet and got it developed. Big appreciation to past me, living her best teenage life, for taking this picture.

Fire Department Homemade Sprinkler
Firefighters at Station 11 in Northeast Minneapolis built this soaking sprinkler to help neighborhood kids beat the heat in the summer of 1935. The sprinkler was attached to a fire hydrant near 3rd Ave. and 6th St. SE and turned on by firefighters (William Fust is pictured here) on hot days. On August 10, 1935, when these photos were taken, the mercury made it up to 89 degrees Fahrenheit.

No!
Firefighters should not go around starting fires!
Otherwise it’d make the name of their profession a bit of an oxymoron.
Wouldn’t it?!

Hello & welcome!
My name is Dominique (she/her). I’m not new to tumblr, but felt I was long overdue for a rebrand. So I’m back and better than ever ^_^
I’m a paramedic and self proclaimed country girl. Currently I’m off the bus and working in my favorite place in the world. I love the outdoors, music, and literature. Hiking, camping, and gardening all hold special places in my heart. My life has evolved into a beautiful, peaceful thing that I love to share.
I’m currently working on some poetry projects that I share snippets of occasionally.
I have two wonderful dogs and an amazing kitty. There’s a little girl who calls me “mommy”- or, she will when she’s old enough to talk. My fur babies and my least furry baby are the lights of my life. Between them and my amazing partner, my heart and home are filled to the brim with love.
I’m hoping to start using this space as a one stop shop to my most authentic self. My old blog got tired; we outgrew each other. I’m ready to transition into the next phase of my life and would love if you joined me on this journey. Yes, you. All are welcome here, come as you are.
Much love <3
~d

Let's visit: My local Fire House!
This is a 100% volunteer run fire house. They happen to have an outreach coordinator and our homeschool co-op was visiting today.
They can get fully geared up in 1 minute. He has a no-motion alarm on his air tank in case he gets stuck and stops moving so he can get rescued.
The helmet he's leaning on is 14 -18 yo volunteers (who just help at the firehouse). Next helmets are "in training", "fully trained" (showing dept number), Liutennants and Captains have the red one, and white is for Chiefs.
Truck 1: Specific for vehicle incidents. Features inflatable lifts, rescue baskets, chains, ropes, cutting tools, lighting, extinguishers, blocks, a boat, ladders, hoses and water (it's still a fire truck after all).
Truck 2: slightly older, regular fire truck.
Cutters, fans, hoses, gear.
Truck 3: water tanker to bring water to where there aren't hydrants.
Thanks for letting us visit your house, Justin!
