~a/n: I couldn’t get over the fanart of Wrio and Diluc as firefighters and I just had to write about it. It’s my first time writing for Diluc so I hope it’s ok. This is also in honor of getting a body pillow of him. It’s so beautiful and I sleep much better with it.

Firefighter!Wrio who you met when he rescued your cat from a tree. You couldn’t help but swoon from the image of this large, buff, muscled man holding a little kitten in his arms. You thank him and he can’t help but think about how beautiful you are. He was about to ask you for his number when he got called for another emergency. You meet him again when your cat gets stuck in a tree again. He feels slightly guilty for being thankful that your cat got stuck again so you two could meet again. After he hands you your cat back, he smiles down at you and asks you for your number. You blush and give it to him.

Firefighter!Wrio who is the type of boyfriend to tease and flirt with you. He has a playful and chill attitude outside of work compared to his focused and serious attitude at work. He likes to carry you a lot, either bridal style or throws you over his shoulder to get you into a giggling mood. It always cheers you up when you’re feeling down. Loves tickle fights. He will actually chase you around the house until he catches you, dragging you to the couch so you two can snuggle. Once he’s got you in a cuddle hold, there’s no getting up for a while.

Firefighter!Wrio who loves kisses and make out sessions. While you’re busy doing something, he’ll wrap his arms around you and pepper kisses down your neck until you decide to drop what you’re doing and give him your full attention. He enjoys when your fingers slide down his body, nails lightly scratching his skin as you admire his build and muscles. He really likes it when you pepper kisses on his scars.

Firefighter!Wrio who is a mixture of a golden retriever boyfriend and scary dog boyfriend. The golden retriever portion is due to him doing anything for you and being needy for affection. He’s always touching you in some way and follows you around the house like a puppy. The scary dog boyfriend is due to him looking scary to those who don’t know him. The piercing, scars, and large build sort of intimidate other guys from approaching you or bothering you. Little do they know, he’s just a golden retriever boyfriend who wants affection and cuddles. He is very protective as well.

Firefighter!Wrio who is great with kids and animals. He lets kids decorate his items with stickers because he can’t say no to them. If it makes them happy and smile, then who is he to take that away from them, he’ll deal with the onslaught of stickers. He sometimes thinks about what it would be like if it was your kids that were covering his things with stickers.

Firefighter!Wrio who loves to lay on your chest while your fingers rake through his hair. It helps him sleep better after a long stressful day. He acts a bit off when he’s had a hard day. He doesn’t really like to talk about the bad work days because he doesn’t want to spread the negativity to you but you can tell when he’s had a bad one. You don’t try to push him to talk if he doesn’t want to so you just open your arms for him and hold him. He can feel the weight lift off his shoulders when you hold him. It lets him know that it’ll be okay and that you’re always there for him even when you don't verbally say it or not.

Firefighter!Wrio who exercises on his free time. You love watching him work out and he likes your attention on him. Your eyes focus on his muscles as they flex when he does pull ups. Droplets of sweat slide down his sweat slicked skin, causing his skin to glisten in the lighting. While lost in your daze, you’re snapped out of it when he leans down in front of you, a hand positioned on each side of you on the bench, and he makes a flirty comment like “Darling, you’re drooling a bit. Am I really that mesmerizing?” as he gives you his signature teasing smirk. He’ll then offer you to join him in the shower. It turns out to be a very long shower that involved more than just washing each other’s body.

Firefighter!Diluc who you met when he saved you from a small kitchen fire. You were trying to bake something and it didn’t work out, therefore, it ended up in a fire. You felt so bad and embarrassed but he just reassured you that these happen a lot so it’s no big deal. He looks at the burnt pastries and points out that you accidentally put the temp up too high for too long causing the fire to occur. He sees the shameful look on your face and gives you a gentle look and some reassuring words on not to give up on baking. You smile and thank him and he swears his heart skips a beat at your beautiful smile. He’s unable to think about it further as he’s called away for another emergency.

Firefighter!Diluc whose heart skips a beat again when you show up at his firehouse later that week, gifting him some pastries you made as a thank you. You joke and say that they should taste better than the burnt ones you made last time. He covers his face to hide the slight blush that begins to cover his cheeks as he accepts your gift. You two exchange numbers as friends until it develops into something more.

Firefighter!Diluc is the slowburn type. You two start off as friends first, hanging out and all that until romantic feelings begin to blossom between the two of you as you get to know each other more. When he's sure you feel the same, he gathers the courage to ask you out on a date. He gives a small smile when you say yes. His shoulders relax and his heart is racing a bit more when he finally hears that you feel the same.

Firefighter!Diluc who is the protective type of boyfriend that spoils his s/o. He loves spending time with you doing mundane things. Cooking, having movie night, reading together, shopping, etc. You two could be doing the most boring activity and he’d still enjoy it because all he cares about is being with you.

Firefighter!Diluc who is a great cook and enjoys cooking/baking with you. He gives cooking advice and hugs you from behind while you cook. He says it's easier for him to help and supervise what you’re doing this way, but in reality, he just wants to be close to you as much as he can. He’s more than happy to taste test your cooking creations. (Plus he helps to make sure you don’t accidentally start another fire again). He thinks your concentration face is adorable.

Firefighter!Diluc who gives you a passionate kiss before he leaves for work. Neither of you ever know what could happen so he wants to make sure that you know how he feels about you in case it’s the last time you see him. He keeps pictures of you and him together in his work locker. It comforts him when he misses you and gives him the courage and strength to make sure he comes back home to you.

Firefighter!Diluc is the type to not discuss his work at home as well. He wouldn’t want to burden you with stress and worries. When he’s had a bad day, he’s pretty good at hiding it, but you’ve learned to read his cues that show he’s not doing too well mentally. You immediately drop everything and guide him over to the couch where you let him bury his head in your neck as you hold each other close. His hold is tight around you, but not constricting. You give him words of comfort while rubbing his back and playing with his long, beautiful red hair. He basks in your affection and comforting touches, inhaling your scent which helps calm him down as he nuzzles into your neck.

Firefighter!Diluc who lets you play with his hair. You have a blast trying multiple different hairstyles on him while he relishes in the feeling of your gentle touch on his hair. After a long day, when you two take a relaxing bath, he appreciates it when you take the time to wash his hair. It’s a rewarding massage that helps him relax and feel sleepy. He swears you have magical hands by the effect you have on him. All you have to do is touch a part of his body and he melts into your touch.

Firefighter!Diluc who loves holding hands with you. The feel of his warm, calloused hands compared to your gentle, soft ones. Your touch is like heaven to him. He prefers leaving kisses on your hands the most. Please cup his face. He’ll absolutely melt right then and there and give you anything you want. He also likes resting your foreheads together. He wraps his strong arms around your waist, holding you close as you cup his cheeks, leaning your forehead against one another and gaze into each other’s eyes. He thinks it’s the most intimate and romantic thing you two do.

Diluc's In-game outfits: An analysis

His regular outfit- Official name Darknight Blaze (really Diluc???) source First, it's similar to the long coat he wears in the manga when he's still in the knights. The ropes he has on one shoulder are something you usually only see on military uniforms, too. Also, the belt that crosses the chest and then one across the hip- that's similar to a weapon/sword belt, and it's one many of the knights have with the one across the chest there to keep the belt from sagging. These are two things I think Diluc had in the knights and incorporated into his later outfit. The all black with some gilt/gold is because Diluc is dramatic and likes the color and also looks good in it. The red on the gloves I personally think is also because Diluc is, again, dramatic and determined to wallow in guilt, so he made the palms red "to remind himself of the blood on his hands" or some shit. (I'll admit this is headcanon territory but i think it's really in character.)

Practically, the coat is armor. The coat looks and moves like it's made of some heavy material. I think it would be wool, because wool as a material has a lot of bonuses. It burns after some time- but is hard to catch on fire. It's a great insulator, so it keeps heat in in the cold . . . . and also keeps it out in. It doesn't melt to your skin like some materials (usually synthetic ones) would when burned. Wool can withstand the temperatures of a regular campfire normally for a fair amount of time, and even higher temps if its specially treated. It's used in firefighter suits even today for all of these reasons. Wool keeps you warm even in rain. It also repels water because of the oils in wool and it takes a lot to get it wet.

And as for armor- Heavy and/or padded fabric is fantastic about spreading out the force of a blow. Diluc would probably barely feel an average punch and maybe get a bruise from a sword slash. It might even block a stab from a dagger or sword (depends on weapon quality and force behind it) or at least keep the stab from going in too far. Those giant arm cuffs have a purpose- double the armor on his wrists, one of the most important things to keep from getting injured while fighting. Same for that little capelet- a hit on the shoulders or near the spine would stagger you and make it hard to swing a heavy claymore with the force necessary. I definitely think Diluc decided to put his collar up like that because he thinks it makes him look cool- and then realized it helped prevent slashes to the back of his neck. The coat is open in the front- but you're able to guard your front a lot easier than your back. Even the fact that its sewn in all those weird shapes is useful. If it gets cut/burnt/bloodied too much in one section he simply rips the seams on those specific panels to replace them, instead of having to replace the whole coat. Also, if you headcanon Diluc as autistic I can tell you that wearing a wool cape/coat is like wearing a weighted blanket. It feels so nice. i also wonder if there's something about self-consciousness, and feeling like he needs several layers between his body and the rest of the world at all times.

source His Hidden Strife event outfit. In the Hidden Strife event we got it in he said something like "It's an old outfit he got while fighting the Fatui." It looks a bit similar to the Pyro agents, actually. Not so much the recent ones besides the feather-like coattails, but I bet the Fatui changed military uniforms, partly because uniform changes happen regularly and partly because Diluc may have been using Fatui uniforms to sneak into bases and such.

He probably doesn't wear it all the time for darknight heroing, but it comes in handy for certain things because-

-if its night you will only see shapes instead of colors and red isn't actually super noticeable in the dark, if someone sees it they will see the distinctive tailcoat that looks a lot like a Fatui Agent, and will assume its Fatui- perfect for if he wants the Fatui blamed for this action.

-if it is a Fatui uniform he stole it's a combat uniform so its meant to be maneuverable in combat. if he has it why not use it.

-already has armor built in, its probably meant for Pyro agents so it's presumably fire resistant. I've seen several cosplays made with leather which would make a lot of sense, it's light, maneuverable, fire resistant and provides light armor.

-and probably the original reason he has it- it has bird theming, the bird on the waistcoat and the back looks like tail feathers, it's red, it's fire-themed, I bet you when Diluc first saw it he was so jealous and needed one himself. And then realized all the other practical points of stealing one.

In conclusion, Diluc is wearing armor at all times even when it looks like he isn't. I wonder what he would wear for purely comfort?

1. Who’s your favorite character to write?

zhongli was a muse i tossed on at the end period of the first version of rewovenfate, and had quickly bumped himself up to primary, and then to featured muse on this blog. this wasn’t supposed to happen. this man just robbed my headspace. robbed it.

admittedly, i have a few partners who i interact most with him, so i guess this was more inevitable? sometimes i’ll just look at him and be like, “you’re not even my main muse type. why are you here?”

i still don’t know why he’s become so ingrained in me.

4. Which character(s) do you love to hate?

at first it was childe, mostly because he arrived when i wanted to get diluc. now that diluc is c6 and i’ve been using childe as one of my hydros in the spiral abyss, i don’t really know. he’s still fun to rib on here and there, but i’ve grown to enjoy him thanks to a few muns + the labyrinth warriors event + time.

7. Do you plan everything out before you write or do you sit down and go with the flow?

most replies i go with the flow, but there’ll be some asks that i turn over in my head all day before i actually sit down and write it out. certain replies end up like this as well.

15. What two characters did you never expect to work together?

that’s...a very good question. i guess my best answer would be enjou and diluc, courtesy of a couple of people. literally, i only wrote out a snippet to give an idea as to what enjou’s dialogue would feel like for myself, and suddenly i had enjluc.

"Oh, you're so funny when you're angry. Did you know that?" The Lector reached out, cupping Diluc's chin, giving a laugh as he did so. "Your flames certainly do a lot of damage to the environment, I'm sure, but to me? Oh, it's so funny...bringing fire to a firefight..."

Of course his home was fireproofed. What had you been expecting? Still, your efforts were rewarded with the carpet under Diluc's desk melting, singeing, giving off a nasty burnt smell.

Like clockwork, a few moments later, he appeared in the doorway, dishevelled and panicked.

You turned to him, deadpan. "An ember jumped out of the fireplace."

An obvious lie, and you both knew it. Still, he sighed, unwilling to fight you for your Vision again. You wondered for a moment what he thought of the imprint your teeth must have left in his arm when he'd tried to take it the first time. On second thought, you didn't want to know.

Sure enough, his red eyes drifted to the glowing red Vision around your neck, flickering with something like resentment. You couldn't help the smug satisfaction at that. "We're the same, you know," you told him, echoing the words you'd given him the first time he'd asked you about your Vision. "A little too selfish for something more righteous than war."

"Don't be childish, my love," he sighed.

"Don't be so self-important," you bit back, wishing he'd just get angry already. But your options were limited, he was right in that sense. You couldn't kill him out of consideration for the Mondstadt economy, and as long as he lived he'd hunt you down.

But you both knew you hated it here. An adventurer that could've been a mercenary, Diluc's locking you away was a crime twofold. To a Mondstadt native, incarceration was more a punishment than death, and your place with the Guild had taken you across the world to satiate your wanderlust.

"It's perfectly reasonable to call you childish when you destroy things to get my attention," he told you, almost on instinct, but immediately flinched at the harshness of his own words.

You only sneered at him. "Shouldn't I call you childish? Why should your favorite toy not call you a child for being unable to sleep without it?" you demanded.

Diluc startled at the venom in your voice. "You're not a toy-"

"Well you certainly don't treat me like a capable adult," you interrupted.

He sighed. "I'm not having this argument with you again, angel."

But you weren't done. "Yes you are," you snapped. "You're going to argue with me over this until you realize that you took me away from everything I loved."

"Your concern for your own wellbeing is startlingly absent," he told you stiffly. "You need me to oversee that for you."

You itched for your sword. Had it been anyone else, you'd have run him through without a second thought. You lacked a weapon with which to attack him, so you used what you did have. "See?" you exploded, Vision surging to match your temper. "You treat me like a child. A child! Did I ever tell you I grew up like this?" Now that you'd started, you couldn't stop your mouth, an unfortunate quality of yours. "I spent my entire life listening to people tell me what I can't do because I'm too reckless, too careless! When will you get it? I don't care what you think I can and can't do! I'll do it anyway, damn you!"

Diluc stared at you for a long moment. Apparently, you hadn't told him. Cautiously, as though he was approaching an injured animal, he moved closer to you, red eyes burning into your own. You stared him right back down, immediately kicking yourself for telling him that.

Any further protest died in your throat under the weight of his eyes as he took your face in his hands, carefully, gingerly as he always was when he touched you, as if you might break.

"Isn't that all the more reason, then?" he asked. Ah, you two really were the same, you thought, immediately regretting looking into his smoldering red eyes. "You're not going to take care of you, so I have to."

You snarled at him, pushed his hands away. "I've taken care of myself for this long. Isn't that proof enough?"

DIluc's eyes flicked to the Vision at your throat again. "Do you remember why you're here in the first place?" he asked quietly. Without waiting for you to answer, he continued. "Dragonspine, y/n. You were burning up already when you came in, and you know I don't like upsetting you, but you scared me so badly when you passed out. Y/n, I can't let you do that again." He took a deep breath. "I can't let you go back out, which means I can't let you go. You understand, don't you?"

Why was everything red?

"I'm not your responsibility, Diluc!" you snapped. "I'm an adult, treat me like one! Or have you forgotten what it's like to love something?"

Of all things, his mouth tugged into a faint smile, which only served to make you angrier. "Forgotten? How could I? You're right here."

I've been thinking it would be so funny that every time Diluc goes out on his own he disguise as a woman(well sometimes just for fun) so when he and Childe became a thing. Diluc sometimes forgot that he's in disguise and he's with childe, he would show his affection while in his disguise. So one when childe and diluc on the way to Childe's hometown at that time Tonia was going in the market she saw her Brother(Childe) and wanted to him but stopped when she saw him pepper kissing a woman (A. K. A Diluc) and she was terrified, Mad because of his brother when she got home she tells her siblings Anthony and Teucer. By Tha time Childe and Diluc got to the house Diluc was out of his disguise so they went inside and was greeted by a mad Tonia SAYING"HOW DARE YOU CHEAT ON HIS HIGHNESS WITH ANOTHER WOMAN" Diluc and Childe was looking at each other questioning then Tonia said" I saw you kissing another woman on the market" Childe was stunned and Diluc was there trying to hold his laughter and then Diluc playing along "r-really? Childe I thought you loved me?" wiping a tear in his eye and walking to Tonia and he was greeted by a hug, Childe was there shock looking at Diluc 'how could you betray me' trying to explain "no Tonia I'm not cheating" then Tonia reply" then explain what I saw" protecting Diluc from behind, Diluc in back just watching this holding his laughter back, childe sighing saying "That was his highness" Tonia was there stunned on what she heard, she looks back at Diluc with a sad look on his face" REALLY, his highness doesn't look happy" and then Diluc said "I didn't know you would do that to me Childe, I though you were loyal to me" looking at Childe who looks pissed, Diluc thinking 'Aaahhh I was going to far.' Childe sighing "Tonia please don't believe what he said, he's just teasing" Tonia then reply " Really?" Childe then said smilling" Yes" Tonia looking childe at in the eyes "Then I trust you" Childe then looks at Diluc smiling, Diluc hiccup thinking' Aahh I'm in trouble'. "Now then Tonia, me and his highness has something to dicuss ok" getting Diluc on a firefighter carry,Diluc waving Tonia while smiling nervously because he knows his in trouble disappearing on Childe's room.

Anyways Author don't get pressured on childe's introduction I'm merely sharing my idea I just wanted to share I think yours is more beneficial because it's your story. Looking forward to future updates lots of loves.

Because I can totally see Diluc becoming Tonia's favorite partly because he's a Prince partly because he's really nice and somehow??? likes her stinky older brother. And now he's giving her these beautiful dresses and helping her with make-up and looking pretty. And I just honestly think she and Diluc (no matter au or canon. I think Diluc would have always wanted a little sister) would really get along.

Of course, nothing warms Childe's heart more than seeing Diluc get along with his family.
