He makes campfires frequently and invites other guardians to sit with him

He's made friends with a few of the Eliksni who don't try to kill him and thus knows a few basic words in Eliksni

He also shares his campfires with them

He tells the wildest stories to whoever will listen if you get him drunk enough

Some days he still remembers Cas and Mave, however, when he sees new fireteams running around and hogging com channels he can't help but feel hopeful

Maybe one day he'll get a new fireteam

Until then, he helps new lights coming out of the Cosmodrone to reach the city and find their own families

Physical Headcannons

{Fireteam RyoRioRa are all fit. Most guardians are considering they do rigorous physical activity almost daily. But here's more into it.}

Orion works out once a day while he stays at the tower. It's not to get bigger--no, he's plenty big. He does it to relax and keep his form so he can better protect his family and friends. Andromeda (10) and Rigel (7) enjoy helping their father at this. Andromeda because she wants to get strong too and Rigel because it's time spent with his dad. Orion uses his kids as free weights, and they volunteer to hang off his waist as he jogs around the Tower. Family fun. He has no scars really, which is surprising. But then again, the big man is a defender for a reason. He does have the Orion Constellation as a tattoo over his heart. He was revived this way so it was a relic of his lost life.

Auryon is probably the most fit of the three. Being their quick, in and out person she has to be. She generally goes for a jog of the entire wall at least once during her home time, as well as partaking in the world's version of a gym. Other times she spends solely in the practice rage, be it with her guns or her sword. She has yet to out-shoot her Vanguard but came close once. He was having an off day. Auryon too has the Orion Constellation above her heart in tattoo form, and was also revived with it initially. Other than them looking exactly like the boy and girl versions of each other, this was how they concluded they were twins. Auryon's got several scars along her body, mostly bullet wounds from various battles. Serenity (her Ghost) said she could mend them since they were after her revival but Auryon leaves them there as reminders too not get overly reckless. She also has a slash like scar across her back from shoving Sera out of the way of a Knight. She's especially proud of it.

Serafino, while at home, meditates and does yoga to keep form. Often times she can be found working on her aim at the practice range, though Auryon teases her that she only visits because a certain Vanguard shows up fairly frequently. She has no tattoos, but she's covered in freckles. Sera does have claw shaped scars across her left cheek and she's pretty shy about them because they're noticeable. She was revived with them and left to ponder how they got there. Her Ghost, Gilbert, promises they aren't as prominent as they seem but she's still self conscious. Orion's children have never pointed them out in any case, and she's especially grateful for it. While she doesn't run often, she somehow can keep up with Auryon for long distances and she's surprisingly strong.

So, one of my favorite things about the Destiny Tumblr community is the fact that everyone has their own stories and headcannons for their own Guardians. One of the things I remember from early Tumblr times are the massive lists of character creation questions people would create for OCs for whatever fandom they were a part of. Another soft guardian headcannon coming hot off the press-

One of my Titans, an awoken with the spark named Aurelian, was trained by Saint and wears his helmet. Upon finding out that Eliksni used saint’s helmet as a kinda warding thing, he’s dead set on making sure it brings comfort to them. He allows the Eliksni to paint the symbol on his pauldrons and becomes their personal protector. He looks after stray hatchlings, helps out new refugees and helps rig up servitors. When Lakshami let loose the Vex on the quarter, he risked a final death in order to protect them. He cares for all behind his shield, and that includes those who are not human. He does everything’s can you make everyone happy, and tries to redeem for a past covered in splattered Ether. (when his Fireteam tracked down Uldren, he was the only one who couldn’t pull the trigger-)

Hello, I love your Titan 🥺 wow, this is just a whole lot of wholesomeness in one Guardian, can anyone handle this much!!

He sounds so delightful, I bet all the Eliksni kids love him now! Doing what a Guardian is meant to do - help!

Artemis:

Even though she’s the Young wolf, she has no idea what she’s doing

Usually keeps an upbeat attitude but sometimes you just gotta go apeshit, you know?

Sometimes bitter that she usually is the one that does everything then immediately feels guilty for thinking that way since humanity’s counting on her

Completely forgets that her fireteam is there for her and bottles up her emotions a lot

She’s really, really short and mad about it

She has a seemingly endless supply of knives. Where does she get them from? No one knows

Wren-6

As the only braincell of the group, he’s usually very busy stopping everyone from making stupid decisions

He gives the BEST hugs

He’s always there if his friends need a shoulder to cry on

Worries he’s bothering his friends with his problems (He is NOT but he worries anyway :()

Always has a plan for every mission they go on (But sometimes the hunters derail it entirely)

He bakes! He loves baking for his fireteam and remembers everyone’s revival days so he can bake cakes for them (except for Apollo’s for... reasons ;))

Gets along with mostly everyone

Phoenix-8

Phoenix gets distracted easily, but if she’s focused on something, she can sit still for hours.

She’s very handy with guns and is skilled with most types

(Absolutely HATES fusion rifles though)

She hoards things she finds from other planets and keeps them in her ship

her ship is VERY crowded as a result

Doesn’t have many friends, but she’s fine with that Or she says she is

Apollo

Oh boy, this lad’s got angst for days

His first fireteam fell apart when one of their members died in the Great Disaster

Wren took one look at him and went ‘yep, you’re adopted’

He’s sarcastic and suuuper pretty

Most of it is a façade to hide his grief

Someone please hug him already 

He’s the only one that can rival Artemis in knife throwing

Basically a walking heater

Has basically adopted Artemis and Phoenix as his siblings though he has no idea how that happened

Completely head over heels for Wyvern but in denial

Usually the one to call someone out on their stupidity

He’s so tired, could probably use a nap at any point

Will infodump on command

Has knowledge of the weirdest things, and he’ll make it everyone’s problem

When he’s angry, arc energy will run up his arms in the form of lightning

He loves drawing and painting and has painted the walls of his room

Gets frustrated pretty quickly, especially when he’s around Apollo

(He gets less frustrated as time goes on, however)

In love with Apollo but also in denial

Can't help but wonder what a Nightstalker raised child would be like. I've always had a headcannon that NSs were the most lonesome of the guardian ranks, maybe even more jumpy than normal hunters. They hit me as having territories and having a set location they rest in, almost like a den... and the thought of them taking care of a child would mean carrying them on their back as they worked. And cuddles. (If the child was eliksni, how do you think other eliskni would react?)

it’s funny, people tend to think that, but Nightstalkers are honestly big team players. cayde says it himself--

“A lot of us are loners. But that’s not the only path. Some of us know the difference a fireteam makes. Some of us... we touch the void. Make it a part of us. And then we take a name... Nightstalker.”

Nightstalkers are built for working in a team! they’re support! their job is to track and pin down enemies for their allies! recon, marking, area denial, all of those things are pretty much useless alone. 

so a nightstalker would be definitely likely to be eager to raise a kid! they’d get the whole fireteam involved! they’d basically make their fireteam turn into a wolf pack caring for a lil kiddo lmao. their kids would be super well socialized, but also probably a little weird because nightstalkers are also probably really weird with how the void affects them over time

Destiny headcannons

- Hunters are the best at telling jokes

- Warlocks are the best at comebacks

- Titans are the best at hugs

- Because most Guardians wake up, revived, scared and alone, many don't feel comfortable sleeping that way. Sometimes a whole fireteam can be seen curled up together, or a few guardians from the same faction after a very long mission

- If you can make Zavala laugh, the Titans WILL make him buy you a drink. Call it courtesy

- same if you stun Cayde into speechless-ness or if you give Ikora a retort she can't return

- Large, death defying missions always end in one person crying, two people falling in love, and at least one burrito. Guaranteed

- the Guardians collectively don't give a shit who you date, unless you give shit TO your date. Then you're collectively about to eat shit!

- Kids who are born into guardianship are often not just raised by the parents, but EVERYONE who cares about the two. Talk about a huge family reunion!

- Ghosts gossip regularly about their Guardians on fly bys. No secret is safe >:)

- The Guardians will have long mourning ceremonies for those who have been lost... even longer for those whose came home, but their ghosts didn't.

- And finally, if you can't find a family within the Guardians... you're either really socially awkward and they'll help you adapt, or just a fucking asshole and they'll show you the door with a smile

Okay, just doing the main fireteam here cause otherwise this will take all night. XDD

In terms of gender constructs in the Destiny universe- There’s so many heroes and big-name guardians of all sorts and even probably as a lingering effect of the Golden Age, I totally headcannon that no one really puts much division into to what’s considered feminine or masculine. There’s just traits that can be present in anyone regardless of gender, and that extends to how they present/define their gender. (And yes, this is probably because this is how I’d love to see reality be more like that, where anyone can explore and figure out how to best define themselves free from any stigma or repression.)

In terms of beauty standards, Killy and Echo are absolutely on the vain side and do place a degree of importance on looking fiiiiiiine. Gideon just cares about looking respectable, and Stoom thinks it’s all  a big fat waste of time. Skitty  thinks everything looks better with glitter lol.

💥 How easily did/does manipulating light come to you?

Wilhelm: I have to say, that it was easier, than what I’ve heard from most other Guardians.

I was resurrected as a Striker, so you probably have a vague idea of how it went the first time.

Sergeant: Well technically you were a Sunbreaker, but Arc always comes out first when you’re angry.

Wilhelm: Well yes, but...

Wilhelm: Anyway. The first time I used my light was a shoulder charge.

Wilhelm: I was ambushed by Fallen, and after one of the dregs jumped at me and put its Arc knife in my side, a kind of instinct just took charge.

Wilhelm: After we got back into the Tower, we luckily meet 2 other Guardians, a Titan and a Hunter, who offered their help should we ever need it, so the following day, we asked if they could teach us. Well at least teach Volk and me. And they did.

Wilhelm: I still think without them, I wouldn’t have gotten the hang of it as soon as I did, and with the Siva crisis just around the corner, I think we wouldn’t have survived it.

Wilhelm: In short. I use Arc when I‘m angry, solar when I‘m not and it‘s gotten quite easy by now.

🎲 Do you feel like you were chosen by fate, or just coincidence?

Wilhelm: At this point, I think it’s hard to deny that the Traveler actively chose me... With how often it communicates with me, and with how often I am „accidentally“ in the middle of either paracausal entity‘s plans...

Wilhelm: Sometimes I hate him, or her or whatever...

Wilhelm: I hate the Traveler, because he had me go through all of this. There. I do. I really do. I‘ve been here for what? 5 years? I was thrown into the Siva crisis, and somehow „coincidentally“ was chosen, me, a Kinderguardian, with nothing more than a crashcourse in the light and pre-res weapon skills, and then was made the Young Wolf. One of the most powerful symbols in our time. And not a year later...

Wilhelm:

There is an ongoing joke that Orion is a virgin. Never mind that he was married. And has fathered two children. Absolute virgin. All the virgin. Don't mistake though, he was married to a woman, but he absolutely loves men just as much.

Auryon is the biggest virgin ever. So virgin that the only hand holding she's had is totally platonic. Someone help this poor bisexual get laid. Before her jokes make her brother murder her.

Sera has absolutely done the thing. She's very shy on the topic though and prefers NOT to talk about it. Her pansexual ass loves everyone.

Ghost Headcannons

Ghosts that found their guardians very early on having almost as little clue what was going on as they’re guardian, so very old guardians having extremely special bonds with their ghosts since they learnt practically everything together. The inside jokes are endless.On the other side of things the ghosts that are finding the current day guardians knowing everything there is to know from spending countless nights or days where it wasn’t safe to go looking for their guardians studying anything and everything so that they could have whatever there guardian may want or like down pat. Like they’ll know the shops that have the best ratings, the best restaurants in the city, that one random hunter’s birthday that their guardian only met once, how to raise a child, different bands and music, Zavala’s birthday, the date that specific raids were done/areas were captured, how to recite one of Cayde’s fanfics romance books word for word, the best tasting berries found in the EDZ, top 50 teas according to Devrim, really anything.

Ghosts being able to hook up to computers and play video games. Guardians, when first hearing about this, assume that they’re all healers, but in reality, most of them enjoy being a dps or tank because they can’t fulfil those roles out on the field. Some of them started playing tanks or dps because they wanted to know a sliver of what their guardian felt like if they were a hunter or titan. Others wanted to just be able to handle things up front for once.

Ghosts either knowing none of the lore or every last droplet of it. There’s no in between. Ghost groups/parties/fireteams and ghost only guilds/clans.

Guardians/civilians that play the same games that run into the ghosts in the game for the first time assume they would know all of the strats and generally be really good at the game, when in reality they’re just like any other gamer and use the game for an escape from reality where they don’t have to know everything about an enemy.

Headcannon for Ash: Ash had a canine companion during his training in the military. Sadly on one of his missions, something went wrong and his friend saved Ash even if it cost him his life. Since then Ash tends not to get another companion after that tragic event. (@oc-violahuntress2017)

Not a canine specifically, but he did have a close friend in training who was part of his original HK fireteam. There was an accident that killed the original A member (Amber) on CAMO and this girl on Ash’s team, and he was transfered to CAMO as a replacement.

His father DOES have a PTSD dog though. His name is bulwark and hes a Bull Hairy Malamute.
