because let’s fucking talk about it for a second! in DotFP the foreshadowing is immaculate. then the build up in Apocalypse?? *cheff’s kiss*
and you go to watch DP fully expecting the storyline to go further. to see them have the talk or acknowledge the whole thing in the slightest- and they just.. don’t

resisted writing my time travel peter maximoff fic for one singular day WIP
A/N: For the purposes of this fic i am ignoring Dark Phoenix because this is based off a really detailed dream i had
When Magneto had joined the X-Men (as coined by Raven) after the events of Apocalypse, Peter had thought “this might be my chance to tell him. But as the weeks passed, and Erik stayed, Peter’s confidence plummeted. He stopped thinking, “is this the right moment to tell him?” and started thinking “what if he asks why I waited so long to tell him?”. Ororo and Raven both tried to nudge him into action, but their pushes only made him curl up tighter into his metaphorical shell. It didn’t help that Erik signed up to be a teacher, and help out with the children, and Raven must have told Charles something because Peter found his schedule included Erik’s class. He hadn’t even agreed to go to school there. As far as Peter was concerned, his days of school were over. He’s just a grown man living in his mom’s basement, occasionally saving the world. Except now he had a class schedule where his father was his teacher, he had a room of his own at Charles’s mansion, and someone must’ve told his mom because she actually called him to let him know that she was so proud that he was “pursuing further education”.
Great. Just great.
Having Erik as a teacher was surprisingly…. normal. Erik was teaching history, of all things, but Peter held back from cracking any joke relating age to knowledge of history. He was trying to make his dad like him, first. And Erik was a good teacher; he was encouraging, he didn’t lash out, though he rarely gave much more than a tight-lipped smile when anyone answered a question right.
Peter soaked up any time with Erik like a sponge. He didn’t attend the X-Men training, so all Peter had was class and the times after class, during mealtimes that Peter normally would’ve rushed off after cleaning his plate. Instead, Peter found himself even loitering outside Erik’s class during study hours, scuffing the ground with his shoe. If the wooden floor was worn down outside Erik’s door, no one would know it was because of Peter. Except, you know, Charles. And probably Raven. And maybe Hank because Raven told Hank everything. And Ororo. And Jean. And Scott because Jean tells Scott everything. And Kurt because Scott can’t keep his mouth shut. And-
The point was, if Erik had any suspicions about Peter spending a lot of time outside his door, he didn’t let on. He treated Peter almost like any other student, save for more tight-lipped smiles. It was probably because he remembered Peter broke him out of the Pentagon, or something, but the almost unnoticeable special treatment gave Peter hope. Not enough hope to do anything about it, though.
Peter kept loitering around Erik. Raven kept pushing him. Nothing came out of Peter’s mouth.
They were fighting a villain when it all came to a head. It was a dangerous mutant, more powerful than the average mutant, one who had been attacking other mutants in some sort of lashing-out moment, furious at their own differences and taking it out on their people instead of the humans. It wouldn’t have mattered who the mutant was lashing out about, as the X-Men would’ve come to save the day either way. But the mutant was strong, strong enough to take out Scott in a single hit, so Magneto and Raven were even on their side to help take down the villain. Or “A misunderstood, hurting individual,” as the Charles in Peter’s head chides. Not the real Charles, mind you, just Peter’s interpretation of what Charles might say in this moment. God, he must drive Charles up the walls every time the telepath takes a peek inside the speedster’s head.
They were fighting the villain, Scott was down and thus Jean was preoccupied. Ororo was cooking up a storm and Raven was planning something with Hank, but whatever their plan was, it wasn’t happening fast enough. It was essentially Erik and Peter alone against the villain.
“What a duo we make, huh?” Peter tried to say as he dodged the mutant’s blows with ease. He wasn’t really sure what the mutant’s powers were. Super strength, for sure, but there was something else there that made the telepaths useless.
“Less talking, more taking down the threat,” Erik snapped back, summoning metal to throw at the man with a curl of his fingers. Right. Right right right.
Peter threw a hit at the mutant and then bounced away as the mutant released some sort of force field that would’ve blown him backward if Peter hadn’t been out of range already.
“We’ve got something, just buy us some time!” Raven shouts into the earpiece over comms. What were they even doing before then, if not buying time? Peter wonders sarcastically, but keeps the snark to himself. He lands another two hits on the mutant, but it’s hard to get up close to the villain as Erik is shooting metal from all directions at the mutant.
“Got it!” Raven barks, and the mutant jerks his head in the direction of the blue duo. Peter takes advantage of the distraction to leap forward and land another hit.
“Peter look out!” Erik barks suddenly, and Peter turns to see Raven pointing some sort of mechanical contraption, no doubt built by Hank, at the mutant. Which means, by extension, it was pointed at Peter. He steps backward, alarmed, but he trips over some debris and goes down.
“Are you fucking kidding me-” Peter starts to say, just as the machine blasts a beam that surrounds him. It’s bright, too bright, and he closes ihs eyes against the blinding light as pain consumes him. He lets out a shout, and Erik lunges forward, but Peter is already gone.

Peter Maximoff headcannons because im bored and I just love my boy so much:
There are pillows+blankets thrown seemingly randomly around the manor at all times in case (and it’s very often true) Peter forgets to eat for more than three hours, which, because he has a SUPER heightened metabolism will cause his body to just shut down if he doesn’t get the correct calorie intake with very little room for error. Hence after the third or fourth time Charles got a student sprinting into his office in a panic explaining how “Mr. Peter just collapsed sir! We don’t know what’s wrong!” He consulted with the staff and decided to put “nap spots” all around the house in case Peter had an accident and needed to sleep somewhere comfortable until Hank had measured whatever was wrong.
Conversely this has led to the X-Men taking tallies for how many times they’ve had to catch Peter when he stood up too fast or skipped his required afternoon snack. Charles caught him twice, once when they first met in the museum (Peter hadn’t had time to grab breakfast before the big jailbreak) and again during a meeting, Peter had been unusually quiet during the whole of the meeting and kept looking around with glazed eyes. Charles had mentally asked him whether he was alright, Peter had merely nodded and looked back down. When the meeting ended Peter had stood up and his knees immediately buckled, Charles had only caught him because he’d been sitting right next to him at the time.
Kurt caught him once (he had nearly fallen off the roof during a party because he’d passed out too close to the edge, Kurt caught him before he’d passed the second floor)
Storm once barely saved him by wildly grabbing the edge of his harness as his eyes rolled back in his head at the top of the main staircase. (She NEVER let him live that one down, and every time he scaled the stairs afterward she’d ask him whether he was planning on fainting again or whether he could go up the stairs like a big kid now) He usually responds by snorting and/or flipping her off.
Jean caught him once in the garden, he had been walking across the grounds with a group of first-years talking about the school when he had trailed off and she very clearly heard him murmur “oh, shit.”
He had stumbled forward, already completely unconscious and she had caught him with her powers, careful to not let his head hit the stone slates on the path. There were no major injuries, just a headache and a gaggle of terrified first years. (Peter had insisted on seeing them when he woke up a few moments later, Hanks “nutrient IV” already hooked up to his arm. He didn’t want them to be scared, they should know he was fine.) Jean had just laughed and told him he could see them when Hank had finished running the medical diagnostics for todays “nap attack.”
Scott’s only incident was early on in their friendship, Peter had been walking down the hallway the opposite direction as Scott. They’d nodded, exchanged a quick high-five and continued walking, or at least Scott had. Peter had crumpled backwards into Scott’s back, knocking them both to the ground and knocking the wind out of Scott. “Musta been some high-five” Scott had joked later in the medbay, Hank was clucking indignantly at Peter for skipping his lunch. Peter had smiled apologetically at Scott, and something in his heart fully went out to this weird, weird kid.
Raven had caught him only once, and it had been more of a redirection than a proper interception. It had been during a training session, she was standing next to him in line when he’d simply vaulted sideways, she had automatically rolled to the side, leaving him to fall to the ground, his head rolling listlessly to the side as Kurt rushed forward. “She didn’t even TRY to catch you man” Scott had howled next to him later that day. Peter had crossed in arms in front of him in annoyance “Yeah, she shouldn’t HAVE too! Once I get this sorted out I swear to you-“ He had been interrupted by a packet of peanut butter crackers sailing through the air to strike him in the side of the head. Hank had merely gestured at them and smirked.
With Erik it was…different. He’d arguably caught Peter the most times out of anybody, always catching onto the metal in his harness or jacket with his powers before the kid fell. But the first time it had been quite different from any of the other incidents. For one thing, they had been in the middle of an actual mission when it had happened.
In Peter’s defense, he really HADN’T skipped any meals that day. None. He just wasn’t expecting to have as much strain put on him as he ended up getting, namely in the shape of 20-odd men armed with automatic rifles opening fire on his team, no, FAMILY.
He had acted instantly, all Erik saw was a blur darting all around then, little more than a haze as it circled them. He heard the gunshots, felt the metal cutting towards them, he also felt the bullets being knocked out of the air one by one, falling to the ground with a sound like pebbles on sheet metal.
When it was over there Peter had stood, his face grey and pale, wheezing slightly as he stood there. On his cheek was a single crimson-red line that leaked a thin stream of blood that ran down his face into his uniform. He had raised a shaking hand and touched the wound, barley reacting as he made contact. He raised his now-bloody hand and his gaze shifted unsteadily back to Erik, a hollow smile spreading across his face.
“…guess I missed one, huh?”
Then Peter Maximoff had crumpled to the ground lifelessly in front of Erik’s eyes.
Erik had caught him of course, he stopped his upper body from contacting the ground, grabbing onto the metal he had never been more thankful for in Peter’s harness. Peters head had tilted listlessly backwards at the motion, his face uncharacteristic devoid of any emotion.
It made Erik feel strangely ill, seeing Peter like this, still.
Peter was NEVER still, at least not completely. He was perpetually bouncing his leg or excitedly talking about whatever new thing he’d discovered in the world, fidgeting mindlessly with his hands as he spoke or running his fingers through his hair. Now he was doing none of those things and the only indication Erik had that he was even alive was the dull rasping of Peter’s breathing.
When Peter woke up in the medbay, surrounded by machines and IV’s and scared-looking mutants Erik wasn’t among them. He never spoke to Peter about that day again. Merely nodding to him stiffly in the halls when he saw him. Never exchanging more than a few words. Nonetheless, sometimes when Peter was blinking blearily awake, the familiar pinch of an IV needle embedded in his left arm, he’d feel a weak tugging at the necklace he always wore around his neck. And though he never asked or told anyone about it, Peter always suspected he knew who was checking in on him in their own strange way.

So did you ever wrote down where Peter was when Cuba happened. I know obviously Erik would never bring him on a dangerous mission. So...did they find a babysitter?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just looking at what happened in Cuba dangerous is an understatement...Um I don't think I did. But I would assume he's still at the Mansion under guard someone has to be looking after the place. Growing up traveling with Erik, like Peter is used to being alone. It isn't like Shaw knows where they are.
As shown the crisis didn't really last all that long (the critical point where the Shaw and the X-Men came in was October 25ish). Speaking of which the X-Jet had to get there pretty damn quick from New York to Cuba its like an eight hour flight; I would say that they got there in under two hours.
Could you imagine like Peter sneaking his way on to the X-Jet and it was Peter who got shot in the leg and therefore no beach divorce? I don't know Charles loses his ability to walk b/c of a spinal degenerative disease or something and the stress of it all is what does it; stress like does bad things to the body and makes thing so much worse.

Summary:
"It had only taken Erik seconds to realize why his son is twenty and doesn’t have a license or even know how to drive. But he had the idea and Pietro had been excited for his father to teach him. Erik missed teaching him to ride a bike, but driving a car was something he could be there for." - Erik decides to teach Pietro how to drive. It ends up a disaster. Because that would never, ever happen in real life...right?

Writer's note: I miss Dadneto. We were robbed. Also love Charles Xavier as Peter's unofficial father figure. Also the gif isn't mine.
It wasn't Peter's first time in police cell, and he was sure it won't be his last. Peter Maximoff sat alone in his cell, bored out of his mind.
He was caught for stealing. Again. Yes, he could've just escaped like usual but he didn't want to really be on the run forever.
"Mr. Maximoff, your mother is not picking up the phone. Is there any other adult that we may call? Your father perhaps?" The officer says, holding a phone in his hand.
Peter bites his cheeks. His father... Erik Lehnsherr. No, he didn't even know Peter was his son. It would be a terrible time to break the news. 'Hey Erik, fun fact! I'm your son! Now can you bail me out of prison?' It would absolutely tarnish his relationship with the man.
"Uh, yeah," Peter says. "I guess you can call uh Charles Xavier. He's not my dad, but... he's close enough."
"Splendid," The officer says, smiling at the boy. “What’s the number?”
~
"I see... Of course... I'll be there... Thank you."
Charles Xavier run's his hand through his hair, putting the phone down. He sighs.
"What was that all about?" Erik asks, moving his chess piece.
"It was Peter, he's currently detained. I need to bail him out," Charles says, putting on a brown coat. "Guess, we'll have to continues this later, Erik."
Erik looks back at Charles. His mind reeling. Peter was detained? Whatever for?
For stealing
The voice rung in Erik's head. Erik glares at Charles who only smiles at him. Amusement lacing his face. "Well then, I'll just follow you," Erik says, standing up and getting his leather coat.
Charles purses his lips. He didn't know if that would be the best course of action. Especially since Erik was Peter’s father. But how else would be deny Erik.
“Come on, we better hurry. I would rather Peter not be stuck in that cell for any longer,” Erik says, summoning his keys and patting Charles on the shoulder. Charles nods.
~ “Your legal guardian in here Mr. Maximoff.”
“Legal guardian?” Peter says, looking up.
“Uh, no, I’m sorry, i’m not his legal guardian,” Charles says, smiling awkwardly to the officer.
“How did you get yourself into this situation now, Peter?” Erik asks, touching the cold metal bars. He wanted nothing more than to bend it, but alas, Charles would’ve scold him for it. Peter freezes, noticing Erik who was smiling softly at him. A lump forms in his throat. Why was he here? Peter didn’t answer Erik, only looking down at the grey floor.
“I see… Alright, thank you so much,” Charles says to the officer who opens the door of the cell. Peter quickly scampers out of the cell.
~
“We’ll be off now. Thank you officer!” Charles says, waving as he goes into the passenger seat of the car in which both Erik and Peter already were sat in.
Peter nervously fidgets in his seat. He always hated car rides. They were too slow in his opinion. And now he was stuck with Erik Lehnsherr. The one man he had been avoiding for all his life.
You should tell him the truth.
Peter purses his lips, looking up to see Charles staring at him, Charles nods at him. Gesturing for him to do it. Peter bites the inside of his cheek.
If you don’t, I will. Trust me Peter, He’ll be accepting.
Peter sighs, hearing Charles’ voice ring through his head. He clears his throat. “So, uh Erik, I have something I wanted to uh, share, with you…”
“Oh? And what is that?” Erik says, focused on the road. Peter looks at Charles who gives him a reassuring look.
“Well, uh… imyourson.”
“Pardon? I didn’t catch that.”
“I’m… I’m your son,” Peter repeats, letting the words leave his mouth slowly and clearly. The car comes to an abrupt stop. No- I know I shouldn’t have done that-
“I- Your my son? Why… Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Erik says, turning back to look at Peter.
“Well I- I just- I didn’t know how you would react…” Peter admits, not daring to look his father in the eyes. Erik’s face softens.
“Oh Peter. Why would I be anything but overjoyed?” Erik says. Peter’s eyes widen as he looks back up to see Erik smiling, genuinely, at him. Erik turns back and starts driving.
Peter sits speechless, glancing at Charles who looks at him with an ‘I told you so’ look on his face. Peter scoffs, smiling at him.
“I guess we have a lot to catch up on then,” Erik says, breaking the silence.
“Son.”
