I said my sword was a tool of justice. Not used in anger. Not used for vengeance. But now... Now I'm not so sure. And besides, this isn't my sword.

Tag guide / blog navigation 👑
Hello people!
I have gotten a lot of visitors and followers recently, so I thought I'd write a tag guide / blog guide for ease of use.
I tag everything for your convenience😳, use that to your advantage.
Characters are tagged as their first names in reblogs, aka others' content I reblog (such as #godrick #morgott and so on), and as their full names in my self-made content (e.g. #godrick the grafted).
I am a Godrick-heavy blog, but will do posts for other characters too if I'm in the mood.
Besides tumblr, I have a twitter and instagram too, I also post occasionally on reddit and pinterest.
Tags (with links) regarding my own posts:
My art tag is #tarnussyart
My gifsets are tagged as #tarnussygif
My virtual photography is tagged as #tarnussyscr
My memes and shitposts are tagged as #tarussymeme
Everything above is tagged as #mine collectively
Lore talk is tagged as #lore
My videos are tagged as #tarnussyvideo
Others' content I reblog is tagged respectively how you'd tag them sitewide, such as #gif #screenshot #meme etc.
I reblog occasional nsft headcanons / fics, those are tagged as #smut
My Godrick anatomy masterpost can be found here
Not directly Elden Ring content that can still be related to it in my head is tagged as #other
I occasionally reblog my own posts for new followers, those will be tagged as #srb
You can always hit up the blog archive on pc / laptop (aka tumblr web), and see all of my stuff there in one place, sorted by month and / or tags. However, unfortunately not every post shows up in the archive, so your best bet to see everything is just to scroll the actual blog, and click on the hashtags there.
Tumblr media
Thank you for visiting / following!

A starter guide on Ubuntu-Linux, from a non-techie to other non-techies
Preamble (a.k.a. the story/rant before the recipe, feel free to skip or not as you wish)
Several years ago, I got a laptop for college purposes; it ran on Windows 10 with decent reliability for a few years, but then it started getting slower and slower, the bloatware (programs and apps that companies pre-install in your devices that you cannot remove) was just tremendously bothersome, my computer would start updating all of a sudden and be at it for hours, etc, etc.
And so my dad suggested I switched to Ubuntu (he had been using it for a few years himself at that point), and... I'm not going to lie to you. I was scared. Was it going to be too different? Wouldn't it require far more computer knowledge than what I already had? Wouldn't the learning curve be too steep? Wouldn't I be unable to do a lot of the stuff I used to do?
Years later my answer is: I don't miss Windows. The learning curve wasn't nearly as steep as I thought it would be. I got acclimated to the system within a couple weeks. There are parts of Ubuntu itself that aren't that up to date (mainly stuff about medium-advanced audio management, streaming through Discord, and semi-pro to pro levels of photo processing), but I have managed to work around most of it with little difficulty (the image processor I use for making gifsets is proprietary sofware --the code of it is not open for transformation by third parties-- but I can work with it mostly fine through a tool called Wine). If what you do with your computer is mainly internet surfing, document writing, listening to music and playing videos (and similar basic stuff) you are unlikely to have any problems working with Ubuntu. But the best, best, best part of it for me? No bloatware. No 8256754 attempts at getting my personal information or tracking me. My computer is fast, as fast as it was when I first got it (the couple times it broke in the last two years had nothing to do with software: it was first the hard drive, and then the fan). No computer deciding to update and leave me waiting whenever it wants. And honestly, that makes every little inconvenience I have faced in Ubuntu worth it, very much worth it.
Linux has a problem
And it is that a loud section of its userbase is made up by techies who have a very unrealistic notion about how much the average person knows about computers.
A few months ago there was a post making the rounds, where OP explained that you can put ubuntu in a pen drive and carry it with you (yes, it is possible and relatively easy to do) and there was a bunch of people in the notes explaining how much better it is to pick Linux Mint, or use a raspberri pi, as if people who don't know you can carry Ubuntu in a pen drive could understand what they are talking about.
My goal with this post is to explain some of the very basics in an accessible language. I will probably use inacurate and generalized language in it for the sake of explaining simply, and will focus on Ubuntu because it is what I know. If you are a Linux fan who loves Linux Mint or whichever other, go ahead and make your own post.
Definitions, yada, yada
So, what is Linux? in plain terms, it is an operating system (Windows and Mac are operating systems) with several variations called distributions. Think of it as Linux being like a family, and the distributions being the members of the family. Some """famous""" members of the Linux family are Ubuntu, Debian, and Red Hat. One of the main distinctive characteristics of Linux distributions at the basic level is that they are free software: it can be used, modified, and redistributed under certain conditions, by everyone.
Where do you get Ubuntu, and how to install it?
You go to www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop. There you will see two items: the first one is a "LTS" (long term support) and the other isn't. What is the difference?
Ubuntu releases a new version every six months, one in april and one in october. So, for example, the version released in april this year is Ubuntu 22.04, also named Jammy Jellyfish, and the one released in october, Ubuntu 22.10 is called Kinetic Kudu. Every two years, in april, a LTS version is released. Jammy Jellyfish is a LTS release. That means it has a 10 years stay, and is a stable, well tested and tweaked release.
What I'm saying here is, get the LTS release.
When you click download, you will see an ISO file of about 4gb. Save it to your hard drive, and get yourself a 4gb or bigger pen drive that is empty and you don't mean to use for anything else.
To install Ubuntu in that pen drive, follow the instructions here. They are short and simple, and the whole process shouldn't take more than half an hour (probably around 15-20 minutes).
Now that you are in possession of Ubuntu-on-a-stick, you can go ahead and reboot your pc, with the stick still connected. Usually the computer itself will recognize the system and open it, or ask you between the two options of system. This is not installing Ubuntu yet, but you need to be careful.
Next it will show you a menu with two options: to install Ubuntu, or to try it out. DO NOT CLICK ON INSTALL UBUNTU IF YOU STILL HAVE UNBACKED STUFF OR ARE UNSURE YOU WANT UBUNTU YET. It will format your hard drive and all of that will be lost. The try option, on the other hand, works from the stick and does not format your hard drive.
Try Ubuntu will allow you to see how the basic system would look upon installation, and it will also be what you'd use if you were carrying Ubuntu on a stick to use in other computers. You cannot really modify much there, but if you choose to install the system, it is very, very, very customizable. You can tweak it and add and change the position of menus, clock, desktop icons (At first I thought you couldn't have those because they don't appear there by default! But you can! You just need to add them yourself).
To install Ubuntu on your computer, follow the instructions here. The process, again, is described short and simple, it doesn't take long, and the thing itself guides you step by step.
It is possible to make a disk partition, and have Windows in one part of the hard drive, and Ubuntu on the other. I myself have never done this and don't know how it is done. But if you want to try that, there are many tutorials on the internet about how to do it, I just don't have a specific one to recommend.
A couple more things
Once your new system is up and running, and you are customizing it, there are a couple basic things to know that are helpful:
Between the programs that come with the system, there's one called terminal. Terminal allows you to write direct commands to your computer. For example, instead of opening a program from its icon, you can type the name of the program (for example, "VLC") in terminal, and it will open it.
Similarly, you have two ways to install programs: one, like windows, by downloading the package and opening it with double click, the other by writing in the terminal "sudo apt-get install [name of package]". Some packages will already be in the cloud in what is called repositories, and just by typing "sudo apt-get install [name of program]" terminal will download and install it for you.
Like Windows, Ubuntu will give you messages about updates being available; unlike windows, you can install those whenever you want, and they run on the background (you can use your pc while it updates).
Alternatively you can just update your computer whenever you want by opening terminal and writing "sudo apt update" and then "sudo apt upgrade". I myself do that every day.
There are a few programs like get-iplayer (to get stuff from BBC Sounds) and youtube-dl (to get stuff from YT) that work in terminal only.
Terminal is very cool and if you are like me it will make you feel like a hacker in a 90s spy movie.
www.askubuntu.com is a forum that has answers for everything you might face as a problem or challenge while using Ubuntu. It is great.
If you do give Ubuntu a try and have any relatively basic questions I can answer about it, feel free to shoot an ask or message me, and I will help if I can!

Can we talk about the Nick in Chambers please? And how profoundly unfair it is that the series was cancelled? And how much I hate all the adults around Elliot? Seeing those gifsets made me want to rewatch the show and now I'm mad again lol
[reference to some of these gifsets]
Apologies for the delay in answering this - I was on vacation and left my laptop at home so I wasn't tempted to waste all my time on the internet lol... but oh BOY, let's talk about it!
I had never heard of the show before watching Nick's filmography which is such a shame. I wish the show had reached a bigger audience at the time. It has such a perfect amount of horror for me. Also, a leading cast of indigenous/POC actors who are all absolutely fantastic in it. When I was looking up information about the show, apparently it was the first ever show to have Native American leads. in the year of our lord 2019. Talk about a show that really deserved to have a second season for this alone imo.
Speaking specifically to Nick's character: Elliot's arc was so intriguing. I started out thinking he was going to be just a spoiled rich kid. and then we got more darker layers... his performance in episode 5?? Can we talk about that?? especially the scene in the meeting. He was so good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so then I thought okay... maybe this kid is a villain?? but then we get even more layers and realize how much Elliot was put through as a result of these adults around him and this batshit cult.. and by the end I just wanted to wrap him in bubble wrap and make sure no one could harm him again.
Since we got no closure, I'm just going to head canon that he got the fuck out of there with his mom, got a shit load of good therapy, and is happily living somewhere far away... like... New Zealand or something.

life update!!
i finally have some free time and havent properly posted something in so long so i thought id write up something!
first of all i want to say that ive successfully fixed my bingewatch problem in late january!! i hate to say it, but seeing how many movies i saw last year in my letterboxd wrapped really concerned me 🫤 i wanted to make an effort to make use of my time properly (after starting a new job and all) and i thought i wont let myself waste time bingeing horrible b-movies just so i can bump up the percent watched in someones filmography (its kinda tricky doing it so i made a resolution to only watch movies which interests me if i want to see more of someone)
with that said, i ended up not watching anything on weekdays and eventually think that staring at my phone for more than an hour wasnt my thing anymore (at least in the context of doing it EVERYDAY). so that may be one of the reasons why the turnaround for my hyperfixations got slower (which i think is good!).
ALSO, i do want to mention that because ive been watching less films recently i initially thought it would be great for my gif making hobby since i wont feel the pressure of wanting to gif so many movies at one sitting. i tried this in early feb and.. well... lets just say that it takes time for my very old laptop to make gifs (i had it since college during the pandemic so it was really used!). i only screen record scenes i want to gif because i hate having to wait to download AND even if i had hq clips it would take my laptop so long to render. so making something lq and having to wait 30mins just for a single gif wasnt doing it for me (bcs i said i wanted to make more use of my time).. so thats the reason why i havent posted anything lately (I REALLY REALLY wanted to make a gifset of josh whitehouse in valley girl but the quality just ended up stressing me 🫠)
and for my last update, as u can tell from my reblogs on queue, i just saw daisy jones and the six and LOVE josh whitehouse and he really got me playing the guitar again 😭😭 (i still think its a miracle!!!). ive been practicing some old pieces i used to perform when i was in high school during my 5-9's and i just had a bizzare idea of getting into the piano. i only ever played classical before, so i always had a problem doing improvs. i spent some time looking at videos on youtube and found out improvs on the piano were waay easier to play and understand, so im gonna buy a keyboard very very soon (which im so excited for)!!!! learning how to do jazz improvs on keys would probably be my new hobby and making gifs would probably be back until i get a new laptop (which at the moment is very low priority 🥲)
SO THERES THAT! Now heres an audit trail of my jan-feb hyperfixations!
still on a tom blyth high since late december 2023
dom sessa: after watching the holdovers (seriously this time)
sam claflin: i wanted to get out of the coriolanus blackhole so i ended up reading finnick odair fics 😭😭 i found out he was the lead in daisy jones and the six so i watched that! my hyperfixation didnt last tho!! i have love rosie on my watchlist but got side tracked bcs of... *drum roll*
JOSH WHITEHOUSE -i find it crazy how most of my hyperfixations are englishmen. but yes. my sweet pookie. i love him. i will try not to talk much bcs if i start i wont stop. but tldr i didnt binge his filmography so i was on his youtube channel for quite some time and spent 15mins a day there... thats maybe the reason i got into playing the guitar again? love his music videos AND love how he plays flamenco. i play classical on the guitar and am a tarrèga girl so i never bothered to learn flamenco (tarrèga hated it) . but knowing just that made me want to at least remember some pieces i used to play just so i can play again... THEN i found out he has a new movie coming up with...
malcolm mcrae: ngl his pretty face caught my eye (special shoutout to anya! literally the power couple)... my first thoughts were like 'ohh i wonder what his character is like in triton'. but then i found out hes in a band SO i was thinking ok hes in a movie w josh so theres probably gonna be something music in it. i then looked up his band and love their songs!! theyre only a duo which i think is p strong (u dont need that many ppl in a band rly!) and i watched some interviews they had too!
KANE RITCHOTTE: my babygirl. my darling. idk what to say abt him. his songs with malcolm are always so magical. ive been playing gods in the details on repeat since early feb. hes my favorite more* member. the literal musical god. im praying hell sing more songs. ALSO i was suprised he did a cameo in daisy jones and the six with malcolm (they were the one who taught some of them how to play their instruments!! i was in awe bcs malcolm was the literal billy dune. LIKE sam claflin really copied his playing style which is so neat!!)
thats all!! thanks so much if uve read up until this point ily and pls lmk what uve been up to as well 🫶
take care <3

The Sunnydale Herald Newsletter, Thursday, October 26
Buffy: “I was just thinking about the life of a pumpkin. Grow up in the sun, happily entwined with others, then someone comes along, cuts you open and rips your guts out.” Xander: “Okay, and on that happy note, I’ve got a treat for tomorrow nights second annual Halloween screening. People, prepare to have your spines tingled, your gooses bumped by the terrifying... Fantasia! Fantasia?” Oz: “Maybe it’s because of all the horrific things we’ve seen, but hippos wearing tutus just don’t unnerve me the way they used to.”

Hi! Now that I have more than 10 followers, I feel like I should say a few things! I wanna use this blog to post and reblog all kinds of b5 things, like a source for other fans… however, I’m watching the show for the first time with a friend, and we managed to watch two seasons so far. My point (besides yes, this show has taken a huge part of my brain with only 2 seasons) is that as I have seen only 2 seasons, I won’t be making gifs or reblogging from other season for a while. My friend (who has seen the whole thing) insists I try to avoid spoilers, and I trust them!
So, if you have any gif requests for seasons 1 and 2, send them my way!! Have you made a gifset/edit/art of the show that doesn’t include anything from the other seasons? send it to me!!
I’ll update this as I watch more of the show, and look forward to post more!! Thanks for everyone who’s following and reblogging my stuff, I love all 11 of you!!
UPDATE: I finished season 4 and got a new laptop!! so requests are more than welcome

im not sure if its just my screen but your kpop gifs kinda come off as gray 😭😭
it was your last gifset, the mubank one!! it actually might be the whole still getting used to your new laptop thing because it's the only set of yours that look grey (the members' skintones look desaturated from the neck up, i think it's definitely their makeup not helping at all 💀)
firstly,, tysm for getting back to me!! <3 this was super kind of u <3
ok so i'll try to explain this as clearly as i can because i don't want to cause problems sjfs
the video that i used for the gifs has really harsh stage lighting falling right on their face, and that could explain why their faces look paler compared to their neck. secondly, i first coloured joshua's gif, and then placed the same psd everywhere else after randomly brushing the curves (which are always on auto), and that could explain why the colouring isn't consistent (a really bad habit !! i'm aware !! i'll fix it shkjfhs)
both these unfortunately made the jh gif and the first gif a little pale, which i ended up fixing after getting your ask (tysm!) and talking to a moot (ty ngoc ily) abt it!
i also spoke to a lot more mutuals who i think are pretty good at colouring and got some feedback from them, and the lovely @lee-haechan's helped me out in fixing some of my bad habits like these fjhskj
i'm in no ways perfect at what i'm doing, esp when fixing lighting (why would u do that mubank) but i'm trying my best to learn and fix my mistakes while i still choose a specific route to colour gifs! so i'd like to thank u for letting me know what i was doing wrong!

I would love to hear your thoughts on [Unidentified Media]! We can all try to be grownups and survive disagreeing with a person on the Internet if that's what happens
Okay but I really hope you don't care deeply about this to the point of offence, I really don't want to upset anyone, and people really care a lot and I get it!
It's just that, I was requested to watch the latest Stranger Things by my very non-fandom normcore friend and I'd fallen behind since I forgot the netflix password on my laptop, so I saw all the spoilers before external social pressure got to me and got me to make the effort to watch it on the TV.
I just feel like I watched an entirely different show from everyone who'd got really invested in the first half of the season and then got completely crushed by the second half. First of all, no one spoiled ANY of the main story to me. I was more spoiled on the main story by fukkin BBC Newscast interviewing Kate Bush about the belated hit single, than anything I saw on tumblr.
And I casual fan watched this thing with the expectation I needed to be able to talk to my friend about it more than Tumblr, and you'd all be a side benefit where I could get the fandom goods and slyly ship that new ship on the side and it would just be a nice little thing between us who see subtext since my friend has no shipping instinct at all and the most important detail I had to get right was recognising Friendly Orderly (thanks IMDB) as Jace from the Shadow and Bone movie she took me to a few years back.
Anyway I ended up BAWLING over Max and adoring that storyline which absolutely fucking carried the show, and Eleven and her story which was actually riveting and I could see this was something they'd seeded from the start OR had gone back very carefully to explain plotholes/mysteries they'd flagged up from the first season or two. And the whole thing that everyone else was doing was so thematically tight to that.
I did think the WHOLE Russia plot was entirely stupid and fanservice for the Hopper actor guy to watch back later as the core audience and no one else, and the whole thing would have been a normal length if they'd just REMOVED it whole cloth and got the adults out the way another way. Like, the previous season would have been excellent if the russian thing was waaaaay lower scale and borderline imagined/threadbare single rogue actors concluded in a single season, and the American government was jumping at shadows, the kids legit were always a second away from seeming like they'd conjured the whole thing as a prank and there never HAD been russians in Hawkins, and Russia as a whole remained oblivious to this, like, they didn't order it nor did they actually ever have anything to do with it. IDK maybe the russians were operatives trapped in America and trying to get home by a portal if you HAD to send Hopper there. But frankly you shouldn't. But regardless, once they actually got to the finale movie of the damn thing, it was thematically tight and made sense to the story they were telling even if it was entirely stupid and pointless and also grounded in silly tropes, apparently has caused real world harm with the concentration camp appropriating (??? aargh??!?!?!). But like, that's legitimately my only complaint with the entire season/show storywise, taken at face value and just for my enjoyment/quick impressions of what is a good story.
So, to get to the actual point, fandom has completely and utterly made up the Steddie ship because there's legitimately nothing but a few seconds of actor chemistry, like, the 4 gifsets I saw beforehand are IT. Like maybe 3 shippable exchanges of actual dialogue interspersed through 9 MOVIE LENGTH EPISODES, and I don't even think Steve was putting out the vibes that hard. He was genuinely playing as in love with Nancy and permanently distracted by Nancy even when talking to Eddie. The looking at his lips gifset where Eddie looks moments from snogging Steve would be woefully onesided because that's literally the conversation where Eddie confronts him to tell him he's still in love with Nancy and Nancy leaped into the Upside Down after him in a heartbeat.
I loved Eddie. INcredible character. 10/10 would buy again. He and Friendly Orderly were both great characters with minimal IMDB histories who I cannot wait to hopefully be cast in a ton of stuff to continue their careers post-ST and for us to adore.
But that post about how Stranger Things is written as if being a nerd is the greatest oppression one can face? Literally true. Will crying in the car after assuring Mike that his nerdiness will not stop El loving him is THEE pinnacle of this ridiculousness but you have to understand, they Empire Strikes Back'd the whole story, Which means every single plotline they harped on in this first "half" is now set up for the second. I literally can't comment on how grossly they treated Will because while it seems vile so far in a meta sense that's not where they're leaving it, and Jonathan's reassurance to him and genuinely careful writing to make it clear this was all textual stuff and NOT the actors being goofy and putting gay subtext in means that Will is subtextually gay in an INTENTIONAL way. He's been written like this because they are acknowledging his sexuality, making his story about it until he gets back to Hawkins, and very clearly setting up that he's in absolute shambles, personally, in a way that HAS to be addressed later. Him crying like that was his horrible cliffhanger to be resolved that's just as horrible as Max in the hospital: that NEEDS to be fixed but the writing has put him here, not anything the actor did for funsies.
Meanwhile the sound editing on Eddie parading around the lunchroom was ATROCIOUS and I am 100% without reading a single interview or whatever that this is because the actor voluntarily leaped off the table and wandered out of the range of microphones etc and fucked up their sound set up by treating all the cafeteria as a stage, and it was so hecking cool they kept it in and just boosted the sound in a really weird way that made it all muffled and frontloaded in a way that my TV speakers hated. I could see the improv dripping off this lad. So I don't trust a single thing fandom is saying about ANYTHING he does as intentional writing because there's like 3 things per scene he's in that I feel were actually in the script because they're on message to the themes and the rest is all adorable actor bullshit.
What I can see is a character who they wrote as The Alpha Nerd, the Baddest Badass in this very persecuted subgenre, the man who makes it all worthwhile to be a nerd, the pinnacle of the mountain that these dweeby kids might climb. An accumulation of all that makes the younger ones cool all crammed into a single character. Mike's Heart, Dustin's funniness, Will's creativity, like even sass for sass with Lucas's sister??? Metal is the Nerd Music and you know he's in it for the Lord of the Rings references. And he's KIND to these little uns, even when it seems almost overbearing in the cafeteria scene he doesn't make it about bullying them he still manages to be aggressive but turn it around to a positive conclusion so they're not "in trouble" or ostracised for asking for a replacement for Lucas.
In short, I don't think he was actually meant to have as much characterisation as was brought to the role, and so him being written as an aspirational character makes him like. The Gandalf of D&D, and the rest of them the awed Frodo he's mentoring and setting them off on their journey, to a new level of pure geekdom, the untoxic pinnacle of what this personality trait might be, the unbeatable nerd who can't be bullied, who rises above it, who, of course. In the end will be SO cool that his outro is the bassest badass thing a nerd ever did see.
He was DESIGNED for his one true memorial to be a painting airbrushed on the side of a van showing his final concert, a la wizards on vans. That's his vibe, a living breathing Too Metal To Exist painting from the side of a van you smoke weed in.
It's just wildly unfortunate that he was so good at the role everyone adores him, and is always shipping around for ships they like, and he interacted with Steve twice while Steve was in a relationship quandry since his one true love is technically dating someone else still, leaving him single and open to interpretation (ish). Throw in the bananas good chemistry Steve and Robin have on screen and you get so much more character room to flesh him out so of course he is one of the better characters. And fandoms love shipping the two white boys who look at each other once.
I feel genuinely bad that people feel queerbaited and angry at the end of the season, but I think all the characters they feel were slighted (except Eddie) are being set up for a part 2 which lifts them up, while for example Max was an absolute MVP of the season but it looks like she may be getting a rest now for carrying the story after her FANTASTIC work in this half, so now we can maybe explore Will's story some more, for example, because he got so much less. El's the only one who really needs to be super character explored every season and they consistently do that because, well, she's the mainest plot character and fascinating. But this slanting towards one or the other character while leaving out others has helped lift up a sense that it shit all over certain characters, and Eddie counted as a main enough character to even be included in that group.
He never was, he just was a convincing side character who was adorable and badass so of course people want more of him. But it's not like something happened to make the writers just randomly decide to kill him after the first few episodes aired and they didn't put in a ton of queercoding and they didn't write parallels with him that would seriously mean that he was in contention as a love interest - his only major relationship was with Mike and Dustin and since Mike wasn't there, Dustin carried the end of his story alone (and it was lovely, and, again, made me cry but not bitter tears of resentment, just good tears of sad catharsis and loss of a nice character and grief well-written in the aftermath). If anything they said LOOKED like it was a parallel for love interest stuff, it was to boost our understanding of the main characters and to help us relate back to Eddie in turn by shorthand relating him to the ones we were already invested in (though again, so charismatic these are lines the writers only hypothetically needed if he'd been flatly acted XD)
Anyway as you can tell I think he's amazing, I just can't interact with a single post about him because every single one i've seen has severe poisoning with fandom anger, shock, queerbait allegations, intense Steddie shipping and denial and bringing him back to life etc, all of which are valid normal fandom things for any character, except the overnight aspect Netflix gives us and the ENORMOUS vitriol and also everyone's past fandom baggage like, literally overnight made a blorbo who's floating in a cesspool of stuff I don't agree with and don't want to interact with because I fundamentally don't see it that way and there's no dang normal content about him being cute and funny in an environment where he's not fandom's latest martyr on the My Gay Blorbo Deserved Better And You Murdered Him For Being Gay, JUST LOOK AT HOW THEY TREATED WILL, YOU ASSHOLES.
So, um. Having a normal one over here enjoying a show on the surface level while skeptical and not particularly wowed by the writers' deeper messages beyond "friendship good, family good, love good, everyone happy and successful when love and friend and family" which is, the basicest take ever but also guaranteed to make me cry if done with true authentic belief (and it was) but also in no way inspiring to make me go any deeper on fandoming given the weird worldview exposed by psychoanalysing literally anything that a male character who seems to represent an aspect of the writers does that is not clearly actor improv, and yet also having free access to Deep Fandom due to my entire dash posting this stuff :'D

Hey,I just finished watching Strangers from hell and I have SO MANY questions. Also I strongly believes Moonjo didn't die for so many reasons. I also this theory that maybe the entire thing was Jongwoo's novel?Will there be any other season with all the explanations?I really loved this series, so much to the point that I'm sending asks based on it on tumblr lol :P I never did that. Another thing is which episode did Kihyuk talked about Jongwoo to Moonjo? I saw your post on that but can't linkit
Hello~ I hope you're doing well!
First, let me welcome you! It's always nice to meet someone who liked the drama so much that after watching it they still have questions and are creating theories of their own (this is how they get you, and make you stay in this fandom forever XD). I would love to hear your theories about how/why Moonjo survived, by the way, if you ever feel like sharing them (I'm with you in this one! Moonjo is definitely still alive, and the proof is in the drama, for all that look for it to find).
About the idea of the entire thing being Jongwoo's novel, I think it's plausible to imagine that, since Jongwoo could have written it at any point after Eden (a lot of people believe that it's the story he's writing in his laptop at the end of episode 10). Jongwoo could be manipulating the narrative and, naturally, the audience, since he's unreliable (*cough* a liar *cough*).
I don't know about explanations, but, the channel that produced the drama, OCN, announced that there was another season (a prequel) and a movie in their plans (**however, it has been almost a year without any news from them, so we're starting to think of it as a dream/collective hallucination we had once).
To be frank, the sole reason my blog was created in the first place was because I had many thoughts about Strangers From Hell, that I just couldn't keep to myself anymore, so I understand on a personal level what is coming here to do things you never did before watching this drama (actually, the first time I ever received an ask was because of it! I didn't even know I needed to enable the option to receive them in the blogs I had in the past 😅 I learned and did a lot by being part of this fandom. The people here are really nice and have many interesting ideas; I'm certain you'll have a good time if you stick around!).
About Kihyuk talking to Moonjo about Jongwoo... That never happened. I was actually not sure about what you could be referring to, until I remembered the AU I made—not part of canon, just me playing with what ifs and alternative realities. I signalled it in the caption of the gifset, but I understand it could have caused a misunderstanding. I'm sorry that it happened (it would be cool if it was true, though, wouldn't it? ☺).
Well, now... If you have any more questions, wants to ramble about something, or need anything, anything at all, you know where to find me! Know that I'm thrilled to receive you in the family and will fully support you <3
See ya! o/

Beboptober Day 11: Procrastination
Thanks to @thestarlightsymphony for the prompt list! I’ll be honest, I’m not sure this idea makes sense to anyone else but me, but it was fun to write :)
Hey, Maya, says the tiny Jet Black who lives in my head. Shouldn’t you be writing your Beboptober fic for today?
I’ll do it later, I think back. I have work to do. History readings, and studying for my Astronomy midterm, and…
Okay, okay. Jet holds up his (imaginary) hands, smiles and nods approvingly as he exits. Probably a good idea, too, to get your homework done first.
(He doesn’t know I’m going to procrastinate on that too.)
~~~~~
Hey, says the tiny Faye Valentine who lives in my head. Don’t you have Beboptober to do tonight?
Yeah, I say. I stuff another cookie in my mouth, from earlier when I decided I couldn’t possibly write without the proper snacks. But I’ll do it later.
How much later d’you have? asks Faye, giving an idle glance at the clock between drags of her cigarette.
I can submit it a little after midnight and it will still be fine, I say. It’ll still be the same day in the time zones behind mine.
Stands to reason, says Faye, shrugging; I can’t tell if she’s convinced or not. I can’t tell if I’m convinced by myself or not, to be honest.
Then, over my protests, she reaches for one of my cookies. Hey, can I have one of those?
(As if she could have them anyway.)
~~~~~
Beboptober! Beboptober! chants the tiny Ed who lives in my head, whirling and spinning around in my mind’s eye. She likes Beboptober the best of all the characters in my head—she enjoys doing silly little things for me to write down, and she’s generally not the one being put through trauma or getting her neuroses dissected for all of Tumblr to see. The tiny Ein who lives in my head stands next to her and barks.
Yep, I tell her. Beboptober is, in fact, a thing I have to do. And that I will do. I glance at the clock in the upper-right of my computer screen and shake my head. Eventually.
The deadline looms ever-closer! says Ed, wiggling her fingers and injecting her voice with her spookiest vibrato. You must write noooooow!
I’ve got time, I say.
Whatcha doin’ instead? she says, standing on tiptoe and leaning over my shoulder to see my laptop screen.
It’s, er… How on earth am I supposed to explain this? It’s an article, I say. Okay, fine, not an article. A Reddit post. About the hobby drama behind Disney parks and their fans.
Ein gives me a reproachful look at the fact that this is what I’ve been doing instead of Beboptober. That I opened up that tab and have just gotten lost in it—for the past three hours.
And that’s not all. Also on my laptop are the New York Times crossword, a questionably-legal copy of a Sophie Kinsella novel, and a game that’s like 2048 except it’s called “Large Hadron Collider” and the blocks are labelled with the names of subatomic particles.
In my defense, I say, playing that last one kinda helps me think…
But Ed, all thoughts of deadlines and spookiness forgotten, is fascinated by the 2048 knockoff. She avidly watches me as I move the little blocks, every so often suggesting new movements and giggling, and that’s what we do for the next half an hour.
(With no progress made on Beboptober.)
~~~~~
Hey, says the tiny Spike Spiegel who lives in my head. It’s, like, 11 PM. You doing Beboptober anytime soon?
Later, I think back, gritting my teeth, not lifting my eyes from the computer screen—which is not open to my Beboptober doc.
He raises an eyebrow. Y’know, it gets kinda boring just sitting here, in your head, waiting for you to make us do stuff and write about it…
Beboptober Day 23: Sweet Dreams
Thanks to @thestarlightsymphony for the prompt list! Honestly, this is basically the fanfic equivalent of what @yardsards describes here....
First it had been Spike, who’d collapsed on the Bebop’s couch and conked out almost immediately. This hadn’t surprised Jet. Spike slept a lot—more so than was healthy, Jet privately thought—and he’d seemed exhausted after his last hit, even more than usual. He’d stumbled into the Bebop’s living room in the early evening; Jet, from where he’d been parked in the chair across from the couch reading, could see the way his long, lanky frame slumped over in defeat. Now, his limbs lay indiscriminately splayed out across the couch; a cigarette, long snuffed out, trailed the floor from where it dangled from the fingers of his right hand. Despite the bags that still lingered under his closed eyes, his face was relaxed.
Then it had been Ed, who’d let out a big yawn and curled up on the couch in the empty space by Spike’s feet, contorting herself into a ball like a cat without Spike seeming to take any notice. Ein had hopped up next to her shortly thereafter, serenely dozing off with his head on his paws. This hadn’t surprised Jet either. He knew that Ed could sleep any time, anywhere—on the floor, curled up in cabinets, wedged between furniture; he’d even once seen the kid hanging upside down from a ceiling rafter, fast asleep. And something about seeing her napping right here—her manic energy temporarily subdued, a contented smile on her face; Ein filling the space made by the arc of her body, with her arms around him like a teddy bear—just felt right.
Then it had been Faye. She’d walked in and clocked the three other crew members sleeping on the couch together. She’d grinned and made a move towards her mobile phone, probably to take a photo to use as blackmail material forever, when she herself had cracked a huge yawn—not a delicate or dainty one, but long and loud, like she didn’t care who was watching—and sat down on the floor almost before she could help herself. Jet didn’t think she’d noticed him in the room at all. Now she sat asleep with her head falling forward towards her knees.
This had surprised Jet a little. He hadn’t expected her to let herself look so vulnerable in their presence, with her makeup smudged and her headband half coming off. Even turning in this early in the evening was unusual for her. But today she looked fatigued, as if she’d stayed up far too late the night before, her smudged-off foundation revealing the bags under her eyes. She seemed preoccupied. Jet knew the look from his colleagues in the ISSP working late on cases—it was the look of someone who was wearing out the same old grooves on something over and over again, trying to wrench meaning from its endless repetition. It was strangely incongruous to see it on Faye; he wondered what was bothering her. But now her face was soft and uncharacteristically peaceful, not twisted with snark or anger; her long, curled lashes rested on her cheeks, and her breathing was steady and even and soft.
They were all peaceful, relaxed in one another’s presence, not arguing or closed-off or demanding to know what the hell the others were doing there and pushing them away, as Jet knew may happen when they woke up. For now, they were calm, resting from the slings and arrows of the day together, even if they didn’t know it. He half-wondered what was going through their heads, whether they were having sweet dreams. But—not that he’d ever let on to the others—this, right here, was sweeter than anything he could think of.
If he had slightly fewer scruples, he’d be the one taking a picture for blackmail material. Or just to remember this time—this one fleeting moment—when they were happy.
But he wouldn’t. Not now.
Besides, he didn’t have the energy for it anyway. The heavy languor of the room had begun to settle over him, too—he could feel the pace of his breath slowing, his eyelids getting heavy….
Beboptober Day 4: Hitchhiker on the Space Highway
Thanks to @thestarlightsymphony for the prompt list, and to my lovely roommate for, when I was blocked on what the heck to do with this prompt, suggesting the idea of writing something from Faye’s point of view around Session 4! I guess it makes sense, since I’d noticed that the prompts list was loosely organized by episode, which is really cool! In particular, this is set before and during the events of Session 4, “Gateway Shuffle.”
“Hi! Are you there? I just picked up your signal! I’m out of fuel at the moment, and I’d just love it if you could just take me to Ganymede, and I’d—”
Quick as a flash, the ship in front of Faye vanished.
She frowned, wrinkling her nose, both at the stranger’s rudeness—didn’t they know it was bad manners to take off in the middle of a conversation?—and at the situation in which she found herself. She hated having to hitchhike, to be dependent on others. It wasn’t like she was any stranger to manipulating people to get what she wanted, using her feminine wiles (however one defined them), but she at least liked having some choice in the matter, y’know? And that was a luxury she didn’t have right now—when she’d gambled away all the money she’d stolen from those two bounty hunters, Spike and Jet, and had nothing left.
But it wasn’t really so bad. Okay, so maybe her ship was completely out of fuel. Maybe it would take an interminable time of drifting through empty space for her to get to Ganymede, where she could refill it; maybe it was even farther from any Gate locations that would let her hightail it the hell out of here. But her ship had plenty of stores of food, water, and emergency supplies should it come to that. She could survive until she got help—which, would any luck, would hopefully be soon. In the meantime, she’d open up communications with every ship she came across, putting on her perkiest and most alluring voice, and she’d get help in no time.
She was strong. She’d survived worse.
She’d be fine.
~~~~~
“Hel-looo! I just picked up your signal! I, er, have a slight problem. I’m kind of out of fuel right now. So if you could just drop me off at Ganymede, I’d—”
The zoom of the ship flying off. The crackle of static that showed up on her end of the transmission. And then, silence.
Well, maybe she wouldn’t be so fine.
Her outlook on the situation was getting gradually more bleak. She’d been drifting for hours without any success or help. Ship flybys were few and far between in this desolate part of the solar system—pretty much a long, desolate stretch in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, a thought that wasn’t even dispelled by the sight of Jupiter looming grandly above her—and the few people who had flown her way had been too busy, or wary, or absorbed in their own problems, to pick up a poor hitchhiker on the space highway.
She was beginning to run out of rations; she’d eaten many of the freeze-dried, packaged meals she had in reserve. She could probably hold out a little longer with what remained, at least until she made it a good ways to Ganymede on just her ship’s inertia, but she wasn’t getting her hopes up. Her one bright spot, her little stash of chocolate, was long gone—maybe someone with more self-control would have saved it as a treat to eat little by little, but Faye thought that in the situation she was in, she pretty much deserved something sweet immediately. And lots of it.
She wished the spaceship had booze. And that she hadn’t used her last cigarette ages ago. Or that she’d bought more in the casino with the money she didn’t have.
Maybe she could ask someone for one. If anyone bothered. If they weren’t too goddamn selfish—too much so to even give her the time of day.
But annoying as everyone else was being, she’d keep trying. Her woman’s intuition hadn’t failed her yet.
~~~~~
“Hi! I’ve just picked up your signal! I’m having a bit of a problem here. I’m a little out of fuel. So if you could just maybe take me to Ganymede, I’d—”
“Sorry, lady,” came a nasal, querulous voice from the other end of the transmission. “I don’t pick up hitchhikers.”
Without further discussion, the ship zoomed off.
Well. Faye rolled her eyes and sat back in her chair with a sigh. At least that was a conversation.
It had been a while that she’d been drifting, and she was beginning to go stir-crazy. And who wouldn’t be, she reasoned, in her circumstance? Being trapped in a tiny, claustrophobic space surrounded by your own trash floating around you, your sole view the endless blackness of space punctuated only by Jupiter and its moons maddeningly out of reach, with no one to talk to except the occasional ship (and those conversations tended to be pretty one-sided)—well, that could really do a number on you.
She’d been making a perfunctory effort to avoid putting on her spacesuit up until now—somewhere in the back of her mind was the vague idea that it would use up valuable energy, and if a ship passed by while she was out on a spacewalk, she wouldn’t be able to communicate with them until it was too late. (Although she was pretty sure they’d notice someone outside a ship in a spacesuit, jumping up and down and waving their arms frantically). She’d resolved not to use it unless it was absolutely necessary.
Well, it was absolutely necessary now. Absolutely necessary to ensure she didn’t go insane in this teeny-tiny tin can!
As she suited up and performed the spacewalk—a quick one, she promised herself, in case she really did run the risk of missing out on communications and the possibility of being saved—she was amazed at how much better she felt already. Still constrained within her spacesuit, but so much more free. She wasn’t confined to the cockpit of her ship now; she was in…well, she was in the whole of space, really. The entire solar system. Vast and wide and open and…
And with endless miles of drifting along to go before she reached Ganymede. Or any form of civilization.
Dammit. Now this was just depressing.
When she climbed back into her empty cockpit, with no change from before—no new sights, no passing ships—it was almost a relief.
Beboptober Day 18: Don’t Lose Me
Thanks to @thestarlightsymphony for the prompt list! I know, it looks like I’ve skipped Day 17, and...I kinda have (sorry!), but not permanently. I’ve just had the idea for this for a really long time, so I’ve decided to catch up and do Day 17 at some other point during the month, along with another prompt. It will lead to things being a little out of order, but what’s life without a little variety, right?
Oh, and credit where credit’s due—I think I got the idea of Faye keeping a journal at all from Chapter 4 of @beccanoodles’ one-shot collection “With Love, From Bebop” (read it here), although in that one, Ed takes it over!
June 9, 2007
Dear Diary,
Today some of my friends and I found a Betamax tape recorder, and we all decided to use it to record messages to our future selves. It was a little embarrassing at first! I kept getting shy and having to turn the camera off and start again. I guess it was hard to think of things to say to myself ten years from now. At first, all I could say was “Good morning,” and that made everyone laugh. I suppose part of the reason why it was easier for my friends is that they know exactly what they want to be, and they can see their future selves so clearly. Sara wants to be a vetrenarian veterinarian, Mei wants to work on Hyperspace Gates. But it’s hard for me to to imagine my future self.
Ten years from now I’ll be 22, almost 23. That seems so adult! I’ll be a newer version of myself—ten years older, ten years wiser—more mature, I hope. I guess I’ll have graduated from school & university and I’ll have a job, unless I decide to become a doctor or something and have to go to even more school (UGH) and do lots of math (UGGGGHHHH). But I guess my future self knows best—maybe I’d actually be a great doctor and I don’t know it yet. I really have no idea what I’ll be doing with my life that far in the future….For a while I thought maybe I wanted to be an actress, because it sounded like fun. But I sort of gave up on that dream after I was only cast as Villager #3 in the play this year. (Vivien says it’s just because Director Chen doesn’t see my talents, but I think she’s just saying that to make me feel better!) Whatever it is I’m doing in the future, though, I hope it’s something I like, not just something I’m pushed into or anything. I bet I’ll be great at it, especially with 10 more years of experience!
Oh, and I hope that I’ve traveled lots of places and seen lots of new sights by the time I’m 22! I especially want to go to space and see some other planets. I’ve been to a few places on Earth with my family—I told you about that trip to Tokyo earlier in this diary, and we’ve also been to London and New York and a few parts of Beijing—but I’ve never actually been on a rocket, not even one that’s just in orbit. Someday I’d like to see other planets, like Mars or the Moon. (The Moon’s not a planet but whatever.) I bet it will be easier to go there in the future and they’ll have more people and stuff on them, specially with all that Mei says about the new advancing tecknology technology of Hyperspace Gates. It all sounds so exciting!
But there are also some things I hope don’t change. Like I hope that, so far in the future, I still have my friends. I’d be so sad to lose them, even if we just fall out of touch, which Dad says might happen now that we’re all entering our first year of secondary school. Maybe I’ll make new friends, though, in addition to the ones I have already. Maybe ten years from now all of us can watch the tape and laugh and remember how we used to be.
I wonder if I’ll have a boyfriend?
Now that I’m writing this and I’ve recorded the tape, I think, most of all, I hope I don’t change too much—that I don’t lose the things that make me me. Yes, my future self may seem really foren foriegn (dang it) foreign to me now, but she’s really just me, just a little older. I hope she’s still the good things my friends and my parents say I am—compassionate, caring, creative. Plus 10 years of experience and growth and stuff, of course. I hope she’s happy and she has friends, and she’s doing okay. I really want that to look forward to when I’m grown up. When I’m her, I guess.
I thought about this a lot today after my friends left and I did the rest of the recording by myself. I even put on my cheerleading outfit and gave my future self a cheer I’d made up! It’s a little embarrassing, now that I think about it…but I was proud of it. I hope my future self will like it. Or at least that it will make her laugh.
I don’t know what exactly will happen in the future, or what my future self will be like. When she arrives on the scene, I won’t be here anymore. But she won’t totally have lost me. I’m here right now, and even ten years from today I’ll still be there on the tape we recorded today and, I guess, in this diary. And in memories. My future self will know I’m cheering for her, that I love her so much and look up to her (how mature she must be!) and want things to be okay for her. I hope she’s looking back in time and cheering for me, too.
My #1 post of 2022
Sokka is the host of an obscure little radio show for his college's even more obscure little station, 96.1 FM KBRK. It's not always the glamorous work he imagined, but it's a fun way to share some of his tunes, stay connected with his friends, and monologue about his life—like the hot guy who's lately been occupying his mind far more than he'd like.
Zuko is a lonely philosophy student who finds solace in music. He's taken to listening to KBRK as he buries himself in his studies, and he finds himself especially fascinated by the show of one anonymous DJ Boomerang. But why does the mystery DJ keep mentioning his attraction for a guy who sounds a lot like Zuko? And who is the attractive, ponytailed junior who's reached out to Zuko seemingly out of nowhere?
@zukkaweek
A slightly late submission for Zukka Week Day 4, College AU/The Arts! (It’s an ongoing multi-chapter fic, so I’ll be updating even after Zukka Week ends.) Please enjoy, Zukka Nation!
