Having a meeting with my creative writing professor today to give him the first chapter of my book to look over for advice... I know I've been saying this for forever, but hopefully publishing stuff starts soon(ish)...?

Social media gives me serious anxiety. But I wrote this book and I'm pretty proud of myself and I keep getting told that I need to promote it. So here it is (also my dog).
Description (That a stranger told me they liked before buying a book)
Being stabbed in an alley by an enigmatic woman is the least of Ellen’s problems. Her life slowly crumbling after the death of her mentor, Ellen jumps on the chance to track down her attacker. Her journey takes her to a shop of curiosities only she can see, run by an old woman with information about Ellen that no one should know. Coerced into buying a sword she’s not entirely convinced she needs, Ellen leaves, and in a blink of an eye finds herself in a ruined city. With no other option, she wanders into the crumbling wasteland where monsters lurk and the sun seems to stand still.
Her problems? They’re just beginning...

I'm not sure I have any followers that aren't pornbots, but if the cover tickles you I'll be forever appreciative of you check it out.
(Edit: So I'm curious about this Blaze thing and you know what, it's only like twelve bucks. So fuck it, let's do this experiment. As of now this post has been around for a month and has zero notes. Let's see if this does anything.)

I know you tumblr folks get it—that preorders can make or break a book in the weird alchemy of publishing. This is my first fiction novel and I’m nervous as hell because the protagonist is autistic like me. Representation of the life of an ND in extraordinary circumstances—learning to live for herself. Anyhow, if you could give this a bump (or preorder) I would SO appreciate it! Some info:
My New #Mystery novel! A sharp, savvy mystery about an #autistic editor who inherits a crumbling English estate, only to find herself at the center of a #murder investigation when a family portrait vanishes and a dead body turns up.
Jo Jones has always had a little trouble fitting in. As a neurodivergent, hyperlexic book editor and divorced New Yorker transplanted into the English countryside, Jo doesn’t know what stands out more: her Americanisms or her autism.
After losing her job, her mother, and her marriage all in one year, she couldn’t be happier to take possession of a possibly haunted (and clearly unwanted) family estate in North Yorkshire. But when the body of the moody town groundskeeper turns up on her rug with three bullets in his back, Jo finds herself in potential danger—and she’s also a potential suspect. At the same time, a mystifying family portrait vanishes from a secret room in the manor, bearing a strange connection to both the dead body and Jo’s mysterious family history.
With the aid of a Welsh antiques dealer, the morose local detective, and the Irish innkeeper’s wife, Jo embarks on a mission to clear herself of blame and find the missing painting, unearthing a slew of secrets about the town—and herself—along the way. And she’ll have to do it all before the killer strikes again…

yes, among the names of my heroes there are such as Achaenild, Kilhurst, Brychan, etc. and this is just Anglo-Saxon, not Elvish… but it will be hard for readers to accept.
and I don't care.
I just want my own little fantasy world from a mixture of Anglo-Saxon, Celtic and Nordic cultures… don't offend me.

Haunting Ground inspired book
Hello everyone! For 3+ years, I have been working on my own fictional novel called, "The Heir You Made." It is currently on amazon for pre-order and will be out on September 30!
This novel is highly inspired from Demento / Haunting Ground, and I truly hope some of you will check it out! It is more of a thriller / horror / dark academia genre if you're into that.
This is my one and only Magnum Opus! I am still editing and making sure all is well before I officially release it. Since I'm not really on social media much, I suppose here is suffice enough to advertise it.
Thanks guys!

Characters found in the Independent Magician (and the World of Centrallis generally)
The Independent Magician doesn’t have many characters in it.  We have:
Alfie YellowNeckedMouse - a boy with magic, whose parents have taken him into hiding to avoid persecution.
Belle YellowNeckedMouse - Alfie’s new friend, who has lived in the place he has moved to all her life.
Bill Chough - a stout-hearted, sometimes crude bird, who assists the magician of Swallowtail Alley.  Doesn’t have a job but is always busy - tends the elderly, sick, lame and grieving when he is not with the magician.
Magician Sherman MountainTiger - the guardian of Swallowtail Alley, as well as the local physician.  Can never resist a distress call, even when sick, injured or worn out.  Knows and cares for his neighbours as if they were family.
Seen briefly:
Mrs. YellowNeckedMouse (Alfie’s mother).  Aside from her over-protective nature, little is seen of this character.  It was mentioned in passing that she has called Alfie a “culinary nightmare”, however.  Apparently, he can do magic but not cook.
Mr. YellowNeckedMouse (Alfie’s father.  Works long hours, so is seldom seen.  Makes a brief appearance near the end of the book.
Mentioned:
Mrs. Elephant - a young widow, left disabled by the accident which claimed her wife.  Is still in shock and grieving, so Bill and Magician Sherman keep an eye on her.
Mrs. Crocodile, who apparently “isn’t right in the head” (according to Bill) and is only happy when causing drama of some sort.
As I continue to write, more characters will be introduced.
Before anyone gets upset that the only LGBTQ+ character so far has a tragic history, I’d like it to be noted that LGBTQ+ characters have hardly been mentioned yet because being LGBTQ+ isn’t seen as odd in Centrallis. It isn’t a thing that leads to marginalisation or persecution.  I haven’t even decided whether there would be labels for characters who are not cis/het/allo, or what those labels would be.
The point is, Mrs. Elephant only gets mentioned in passing by Sherman because she needs support, not because she was married to a woman.  Are there other queer characters in Swallowtail Alley, that the magician knows about? Probably.  There just isn’t any reason for him to tell anyone.

Hello all! My very first novel is finally completed! Check it out, see if you like it, and give it a review! It was highly inspired by the game Haunting Ground by Capcom. It's a horror / thriller / fantasy. Please be mindful of the warnings before reading, as it could trigger some people. Thanks!

Finishing one final novel edit (I promise it's the last one this time), and I really feel like rambling about my book and Frev stuff in general, so if anyone is willing to send me asks to ramble about, that would be awesome!

This is super short notice (my digital anxiety will always be my worst enemy... along with the tumblr app not wanting to post my photos) but I'm tabling at a small art show in Calgary Alberta that features a lot of unique artists that might not get an opportunity to show their stuff otherwise.
I make handmade dice and various other dice related things, also with sketchbooks and scratchpads made out of 90s trading cards. I'll also be selling my novel, My Life in (the) Ruins, as well some merch from my pretend publishing company.
If any of this interests you, stop on by and see some fabulous art and awesome music.

Writing isn’t a hobby, it’s a calling
I’m excited and I can’t wait to share my first ever novel. I see myself smiling while writing it, that’s how much I can relate to it. I have been overthinking a lot these past few days and hurting myself with fake scenarios why not write it. I’m glad that I’m doing this and this has been a huge help with my recovery.

This my first book and I’m not ready to publish just yet because I want more people to read and give me feedback. This is a very dark psychological horror/ thriller (or very close to it)
