Steve jumped out of the room like the floor was on fire, his confusion only growing. “Whose room is that FRIDAY?”

“Boss has not permitted me to answer that question.”

The Rogue Avengers have been pardoned, returning home for the first time after a year and a half on the run. Steve expects for things to be the same as how he left but it seems that everything has changed. Apparently Tony now had a kid.

Broken Soul - Chapter 1 sneakpeak

A/N: a little tidbit from my Din Djarin book on AO3 and Wattpad, Broken Soul. I plan on posting bits and pieces throughout my story to get y'all invested hehehe enjoy

Enjoy some angst between my Jedi OC and Mando as they work through their first meeting. Maybe one day this angst will grow into something beautiful 😏

You jump from branch to branch, grabbing hanging branches when you see them, and climbing when necessary. You can hear him below you, armor clanging as he runs to keep up. A blaster bolt whizzes by the branch you're on and you gasp in surprise, haltering for a moment when the heat of it singes the air around you. 

Your breathing gets heavy as you run and the exertion of jumping is taking its toll. While you used the Force to help you along the way, the activity is tiring nonetheless. You start to notice that the branches you're on are gradually getting lower to the forest floor. 

Closer to him. 

In your peripheral vision, you see him raise his blaster again, and you jump down right as he shoots. You slam into the ground and roll forwards in order to save yourself from injury and keeping yourself in motion. Taking a sharp left, you move deeper into the forest, and slide under a low branch, hoping it'll get in his way. Your heart is banging in your ears and your adrenaline screaming through your veins. You haven't felt this way in years.

Quickly you jump up to grab a branch again, just as he reaches out to grab your cloak, and swing yourself onto another tree - narrowly avoiding his grasp. You hadn't realized he was so close.

I guess he found a way around the branch.

In your distraction, you hear one last blaster shot, and the branch below you shatters.

You fall to the forest floor and are immediately tackled by the Mandalorian. You feel a sharp pain in your side when you hit the floor. You struggle against him as you roll onto your back to try to push him off. You don't have your weapon in your hand so the struggle was the equivalent of an arm-wrestling match. He's grunting in the effort of keeping you restrained and you can hear muffled bits of his voice through his helmet's modulator.

"Stop... struggling."

You feel a spark on your neck as you realize he's trying to stun you to keep you still. You scream in anger and kick up into his stomach, throwing him off of you. He rolls some ways away from you and you can tell you knocked the wind out of him from the wheezing breath that is coming through his modulator. Scrambling to stand, you draw your blaster on him while backing up. You bite back the pain in your side as you stare at the bounty hunter. He's still trying to stand when you start to yell at him.

"What do you want from me?"

His helmet looks over at you, as he stands. "What do you think?"

You pause and observe him, tensing and preparing to throw yourself in an attack at any moment. "... You're a Mandalorian."

"... Yes." He seems annoyed by the statement.

"Are you a bounty hunter?"

You see the slightest movement in his helmet as he sighs, "Yes."

You glance at his hands and see the fob that's blinking aggressively in his palm.

Your eyes narrow at the fob, "Who sent you?"

He just stands there silently, looking at you. You start to take a step back, but he quickly takes out a blaster at the motion. You both quickly aim for one another and freeze in that position, staring down the barrels of your guns.

"I hope you realize that you won't be getting that bounty," you say as calmly as possible. Your breathing is still erratic and you're trying get it under control.

"I think I will. There are two options here for you."

"And what are those, may I ask?" you retort.

"Well... I can bring you in warm... Or I can bring you in cold... it's up to you."

"I bet you say that to all the ladies," you snap. Adjusting your grip on the blaster, you can see him reach for the cuffs on his belt slowly, as if he was trying not to spook an animal. "I asked you who sent you."

He pauses and tilts his helmet. "That's none of your concern."

You laugh incredulously in shock at his words. "I most definitely think that it is. You want to bring me in, for who knows what reason. To sell me off to some old near-dead warlord or politician that either wants me dead or to have as a prize. So yes, it is my concern. I didn't move out to a place of isolation just to be berated by some bounty hunter."

You can see him processing your words, not knowing how to respond. He hasn't mentioned the reason for your bounty, but you doubt that he truly knows who you are. To him, you're simply a target. The next notch on his belt.

Soltó un pequeño suspiro hace poco que Asher había llegado a esa ciudad. Sus padres adoptivos no estaban mucho de acuerdo pero había notado como tenían miedo de él. Siempre se preguntó porque era diferente a los demás, sus padres siempre le dijeron que no era diferente solo especial pero el siempre sospechó que no era así. Se sentía muy diferente sobretodo cuando veía a otros niños sangrar a veces sentía unas ganas terribles de chupar, le asustaba y por ello se alejaba de las personas.

ㅡ Nuevo comienzo, nueva vida.

Se dijo mientras ingresaba a su nuevo departamento, no tenía mucho dinero y tenía que buscar un nuevo trabajo, sus ahorros le ayudarían a sobrevivir un par de semanas pero no quería quedarse sin dinero para la renta. Pensar en eso solo le estresaba, le hacía pensar que era mejor regresar con aquellos padres adoptivos pero cada vez que recordaba aquellos ojos agitados y asustados sabía que lo mejor era mantener esta distancia.

Tenía que ir a comprar los víveres de esa semana por lo que dejó su mochila sobre aquel sofá y regresó a la puerta para ir al supermercado más cercano. No tardó mucho en hacer las compras, era un flojo que casi no cocinaba así que sus comidas eran sencillas o prefería comer en algún restaurante, aunque por estos días tendría que abstenerse a hacerlo.

Estaba cerca de casa cuando un sonido llamó su atención, Asher procuraba no hacer caso y solo seguir su camino pero algo en ese sonido le hizo caminar a la fuente, cada vez que se iba acercando era más claro y un sonido, o más bien un maullido se hacían presentes. Una pequeña sonrisa se hizo presente.

ㅡ Hola pequeñín.

Dijo poco después acercándose a una caja donde se encontraba un gato negro, por su tamaño no parecía ser un cachorro pero se sorprendió al ver que estaba algo herido.

ㅡ Vamos, te llevaré a casa para curarte.

Dijo sin pensarlo mucho, tomó con cuidado a aquel gato antes de poder regresar apresurado a casa, tenía que darle un buen baño y curar las heridas, pensaba llevarlo al veterinario pero era algo tarde y no estaba seguro de si estuviera abierto por lo que solo curaria lo que pudiera antes de poder llevarlo con un especialista.

Asher se sentía extrañamente preocupado por aquel gato, nunca antes le había interesado cuidar a otro ser vivo por lo que ahora era extraño. Cuando llegó a su departamento dejó en la entrada las compras y corrió a su baño para atender al gato. Se sorprendió a ver que aquel gato era muy manso, quiso pensar que era por sus heridas que se dejaba atender, tiempo después lo dejó sobre su cama para que desansara y él fue a la cocina para prepararse algo de cenar. Nunca pensó que al regresar para descansar encontraría a un extraño en su cama, justo donde se suponía que el gato estuviese.

ㅡ ¡Pero que mierda!

Gritó muy sorprendido por aquello, pero la persona no se movía, estaba muy dormido y tenía algunos rasguños, bueno más que rasguños donde se supone que el gato debía tener sus heridas. No entendía nada y estaba muy sorprendido.

Chatter about Mattie’s latest readings, Maggie Andersson’s leaky roof, Rebecca Teivel’s spinsterhood. Had she heard that Ruthie’s pa was shacking up with someone else? 

The walk up Abbott Street was spent bickering over whether they should be talking who was shacking up at all. 

Passing buy Leo’s had dusted up the matter of Fanny and Simon’s marriage which brought them to Front Street and– 

“Opal’s gonna wear her mama’s dress.” A sigh. “It’s such a waste, because they could pay a penny for something a sight nicer. It’s not as if they’re poor.” 

Sallie’s jaw set. “We ain’t poor, Rosie.”

“Well we ain’t rich either. I think she should wear velvet. It should be off white because she’s already pale as an egg.” 

“Rosie–”

“And I reckon she’s gonna look like an egg already. Some people are saying it’s high time they tied that knot, but other people are saying it’s all ‘cause Opal has a bun in the oven, which is funny since–”

Rosie stopped short in front of Wolgemuth’s (10% off salt– shore up your circle!) and for just a moment, granted the gift of silence. 

But it was, after all, only a moment.
