The SkyStar Observation Wheel at Fisherman’s Wharf has been a success after its initial six-month run and Mayor London Breed announced plans to extend it for an additional 18 months. City officials said that the Ferris wheel has welcomed more than 90,000 riders since making its move to the waterfront this past fall. Ridership since then has doubled in comparison to the same time in 2022, they added.

Souvenir shops and stalls selling crab and clam chowder in sourdough bread bowls appear at every turn, as do postcard views of the bay, Golden Gate and Alcatraz. There’s also a colony of sea lions to see and historic ships to tour. At Ghirardelli Square, boutiques and eateries reside in the famed former chocolate factory.

a cold wind is just about the worst sensory experience possible for me. i think this is part of why i despise winter so much. if i’m outside and it’s cold and the wind is blowing on top of that, i nearly cannot think straight, because my entire nervous system is being overwhelmed with feelings of complete misery. cold winds are DEEPLY uncomfortable for me.
