So Much Just Happened but i need to talk about that moment with fjord and essek though because never has fjord’s character been so crystallized in my mind and i have never loved fjord more than in that moment.

the person that went to comfort essek when he stalked off was not caleb, his narrative foil, or jester, the first person to unabashedly break through his every barrier, or caduceus, the typical comforter. fjord and essek really haven’t had any stand out moments besides maybe some fun jokey moments (you floaty fuck!) or That One Moment With The Rangers, we’ve never really had insight into what fjord thinks of essek, there was absolutely nothing to indicate that fjord would be the person to go over and console essek. of all the characters we expected to make a beautiful speech to essek, we were not expecting fjord.

the fact that it was fjord, who knew his grieving friends had each other to cry on, who decided to put on the strong face and walk to the solitary figure of essek, speaks to the truest crystallization of fjord as a leader. fjord’s been such a paladin force of positivity and protection throughout this whole arc, oscillating between comic relief and a brave face who refuses to accept anything other than hope, and it came to such a beautiful head here. he decided to reach out to someone on his team for no other reason than essek is on his team and this is the kind of leader fjord is. he didn’t need any other reason to be kind to essek than that simple fact, and i've never been prouder of him.
