Boundaries of Earth

Ever wondered about the true scale, context, and dynamics of our spatial geography?
The world was once borderless, then civilizations, countries, came to be and borders were made.
In those boundaries there are mountains, hills, valleys, steep slopes, clear straight roads, etc.
Till now this was sufficient information to make up the average person’s knowledge of earth’s geography.
However, mankind is embarking on living wholly in the third dimension.
Space exploration missions, and commercializing travel in lower space orbit, and even making “space hotels” with possibly artificial gravity.
Is going to fundamentally change our perception of the dimensions we have inhabited and the higher dimensions humanity might soon have casual access to.
To get to my point let’s visualize earth first on a superficial level.
Think Flat Earthers, in their flat earth theory we live on a disc shaped earth, and the spherical earth scientists speak of is a conspiracy.
It appears Flat Earthers have never looked at every single planet and star visible to us. Each of which is spherical. Why would earth be different?
They would have had little argument to their “Flat” theory if instead of earth they had said GALAXIES are flat disc shaped.
Ironically, we live on a round earth in a flat galaxy.
Now that we have established earth on a superficial level looks flat but is not. Imagine it again this time with the invisible dynamics that holds us on earth – Gravity.
Think Albert Einstein – Theories of Special and General Relativity.
The late Astronomer Carl Sagan, had once demonstrated in a video the connection with dimensions and gravity with the story of ‘Flatland’ a book by Edwin Abbott, a Victorian scholar.
In Flatland shapes live in two dimensions. They have length and width but no height and are absolutely flat.
As Sagan showed when an apple (a spherical object) from the third dimension (space or anywhere with height) descended into Flatland, the flat shapes over there could only perceive flat prints made from the apple’s landing parts.
Sagan made the parallel between us living on earth finding it difficult to visualize it as round, when everything looks flat, because we cannot perceive the whole earth.
In the universe the earth’s first picture taken from a distant satellite as Carl Sagan described was a humbling experience, to see earth looking no bigger than a blue dot.
However, unlike the Flatelanders we do have height and can get into planes and even space. This making us able to inhabit the third dimensions wholly.
Einstein had classified ‘time’ as a fourth dimension. Saying that if we want to go somewhere we travel in time forward and of course in our geological space.
Astro Physicist Neil Degrasse Tyson says If you want to meet someone somewhere you have to give them location coordinates (length, width, 2 dimensions – 3rd dimension height coordinate if it’s a building, and the fourth dimension ‘time’) to meet up at.
So do we now understand our three dimensions at least? Can we see the bigger picture?
What about gravity? What about micro dimensions?
Theoretical Physicist Brian Greene has spoken often about dimensions and the different shapes they exist in.
Interestingly, the premise of String Theory raises a rather unusual question…So history repeats itself? Does the universe repeat itself too?
Let me explain: Every time they split a particle, they find it to contain another particle. Or particles. The highly sophisticated technology we presently have cannot split quarks – tiniest particles. So there is a theory (String Theory) are there yet even tinier particles in quarks or is there a filament that vibrates into different shapes, producing different particles.
I draw a parallel between the splitting of particles and our body in the universe – like particles every planet and star is round, they are in motion, they have some form of energy. Compared to the universe we are tiny like the particles in atoms. So could it be that the universe infinitely contains…. spheres within spheres… within spheres…within spheres? But galaxies are flat clusters in the infinite vastness of space. Could this vastness really be the shapeless fourth dimension? Apart from time. Could there be some giant unknown shaped being looking at the flat galaxies?
So dear readers let’s stop here and go back to earth and its immediate boundary into space.
Remember the hills, mountains, slopes, I mentioned within earthy boundaries, they exist in space too in a sense – it’s Einstien’s Field Equations.
The variation in gravity depends on the flow of time (light - not the 4th dimension kind of time. Think atomic clocks) and the mass it interacts with. This produces invisible valleys, slopes, with outer shapes like mountains or hills. These are Non-Euclidean shapes and need calculus to calculate the area within them.
Physics is clearly the new frontier with space exploration and commercialization of the space industry.
An unfair disadvantage to brilliant young minds is to not teach Albert Einstein’s theories with Sir Isaac Newton’s version of gravity.
The sun which is light and not mass like rocks or planets is holding the planets in our solar system in steady motion. Space or gravity is in General Relativity described as a “fabric” even light bends in this fabric as it does in water. Planets are in orbit in the fabric.
Could it be that light on the quantum level like the connection of particles in quantum entanglement interact with mass of the planets to make this fabric?
