Black Women and Maturity
Have you ever noticed how shocked people are when young Black Women are mature and intelligent? I’ve seen interviews with Yara Shahidi and other young Black Women and the interviewers are so shocked that we can be.............smart????
I’ve even experienced it with......guess who?
Cops.
A lot adults that expect me to be....I don’t even know. Ghetto? Using slang every other word? Did y’all ever take a second to think that we’re so mature because we’ve been through hardship?
Follow some young, Black, female activists:
Mari Copeny
Kheris Rogers
Naomi Wadler
Vanessa Nakate
You may remember Vanessa Nakate (a climate change activist) from being EDITED OUT OF A FUCKING PHOTO:
Yup racism is even in climate change activism, yayyyy
( More info about these ladies )
We have brains, y’all.
Don’t be shocked.

Me, earlier today, after a good shower, taking care of my hair and face.
With everything going on around us, taking pleasure in the small things that maybe didn’t have as much significance in the past.
I legitimately was in the shower and thinking how blessed it is to have running water and stores open, being able to just walk down the street, is a blessing.
I dont like ANY of this. Life has changed a lot but one thing is for sure, the blessing of waking up hasn’t.

One of the best things about the level of representation in Black Panther is seeing black people of all shades from all over the world loving themselves. Being proud of their skin and their glory and their beauty and their gift. Especially seeing beautiful black kings and queens with darker skin who have been made to feel self conscious or less because of their melanin showcased as strong leads. They're not props, there's no exploitation of their color, it's a celebration of it. They're not in minor roles, they're the whole damn film. You don't realize how much you CRAVE representation until something like this comes along. I can't even put into words how happy and proud that film makes me. If you haven't seen it, please do.
