Nico: Here’s the thing. Thomas’ sides encompass pretty much everything there is in any functional adult. Like, morals, logic, creativity (good and bad), anxiety, lying, rage, all of the sides I know represent traits that I also have, but I think they’d be split up differently. Like, ok, rage and anxiety. In my case, I doubt they’d be two separate… eh, you used facet, so let’s use the word facets. Oh Flores Facets, that’s cute. Anyway, to me, they’d probably just be one side representing emotions I usually dislike feeling, like sorrow. Actually, scratch that. It’d be all my emotions, and my morality would be in there too. So think Patton + Virgil + Cyrus as all one side… but like, me. And my inner child would not be my morality, it would be my creativity… whatever form that would take.

I knew I would love THE LESBIANA’S GUIDE TO CATHOLIC SCHOOL from the moment I saw the table of contents, which features hilarious, faux “commandment”-style chapter titles. Author Sonora Reyes does a fantastic job of establishing Yamilet’s many facets right from the start. Yami is a funny and insightful narrator, and it is heart wrenching watching her navigate the conflicts between who she feels she has to pretend to be and who she actually is.

One of the things Reyes did exceptionally well was capturing just how much everything can be when you’re a teenager and what it’s like as you become increasingly aware of the weight of your current and future responsibilities. Yami has so much on her plate, from keeping an eye on her brother at their new school to finding a part-time job.

On the more lighthearted side of how much, it was a delight to follow Yami on her rollercoaster adventure of falling for Bo. There were so many great moments between them, both while Yami was in denial and after she finally admitted her feelings to herself. I loved how they opened up to each other, bit by bit—one of my favorite scenes was when Bo talked to Yami about her parents’ décor. I spent the entire book rooting for them to get together.

I also enjoyed the focus on Yami’s dynamics with the various members of her family, especially as everything changed over the course of the book. Many of the major subplots center on Yami’s family, so I don’t want to spoil too much, but I will say that Yami’s relationship with her younger brother, Cesar, was particularly great. I liked how they played off each other, from their banter to their fights to the times they had each other's backs. The Flores family felt real, in their conflicts, celebrations, and disappointments.

Recommendation: Buy it now, especially if you like contemporary romance! THE LESBIANA’S GUIDE TO CATHOLIC SCHOOL is a delightful young adult book that sensitively tackles what it’s like to be a lesbian first-generation Mexican American teen trying to fly under the radar at a largely white Catholic high school. Yami’s relationships with her family and the girl she has a crush on create a solid emotional foundation for a compelling novel.

After a flash of liqueur-like aldehydes, Porter Sa Peau settles into a musky, fuzzy, pollen-y yellow floral of narcissus and ylang-ylang.

if Oeilleres (the other Roberto Greco perfume) was like zooming in on a single facet of an older woody chypre like Mystere or Aromatics Elixir, Porter sa Peau is the same trick of zooming in, but on a classic spring floral chypre like Chamade. we don’t get the trill of flowers, just the fuzzy skin musk and the slightly dusky, breathy scent of narcissus.

it’s deliciously comfortable, and feels like an extension of my person. Porter sa Peau is one of those musky, beige “second skin” scents, same category as Kiehl’s Musk and Muscs Koublai Khan, but a little less sweet and more floral than either. An introverted, soft, daydreamy musk.

(if you like narcissus and musks but you want a complex, multi-stage “feature film” of a fragrance rather than Porter sa Peau’s minimalist monochrome “vibe reel”, Papillon Hera and Masque Milano Romanza are also amazing.)

"So who's this person we're supposed to be meeting?"

Vesper looked up from their phone, peering around the Santa Monica pier. Even this late and at the end of the pier it was crowded with locals and tourists alike. They looked back down at the text message Miya had sent xem. A string of messages about an anonymous user attacking the site and garnering her private information. Only to leave her with the pier and a time.

"I don't know." They answered honestly, pocketing the device as they looked towards the other two. Having an inkling would have made this far less concerning. But it was only getting later, a full thirty minutes after the allotted meeting time. Lumio sighed, stretching his arms upwards as he turned to look out at the dark water. As much as they enjoyed thieving, waiting around wasn't as appreciated.

Umbra's ears twitched as quick light steps approached, it's head tilting up to look at someone quickly approaching. A voice yelled out and- "s-sorry." The figure slowed some, still quickly walking towards them. Vesper straightened out as the person approached, they seemed skittish, incredibly skittish. The person exhaled deeply once they stopped in front of the group.

"Hey."

"Hi there. You are exactly as she described.."

"So you're the one that hacked the site?"

"Something about him seems off to me.."

"A cat? Cute. That'd be me. I'm Alee Destan. And I need you to unlock my heart."

He spoke quietly, but with conviction, like he knew exactly what he was after. Vesper narrowed xyr eyes as xe looked at him. He was wearing a dark red hoodie with a black jacket zipped up over it. Dark jeans tucked into old worn combat boots. He wore a black mask that covered the lower half of his face, actually.. Vesper made note of the scarf around his neck too, and the gloves. As little skin showed as possible.

Just long black hair that spilled out from under his hood and a piercing red gaze hidden somewhat behind frames that, at this angle, reflected some of the pier's bright lights. Vesper wondered if he was naturally that pale or perhaps the mask meant he was ill. Still..

"Does he mean he wants us to steal his heart?"

"Uh." Mieran rubbed the back of his neck, the request catching him somewhat off guard. Alee turned his head to look at the man, tilting his head somewhat. "Sorry, it's just the first time we've been asked by the person themself." This didn't seem to deter him though, the man giving a quick nod of understanding. "Can we even.." Mieran's voice dropped to a quiet whisper, one only Umbra could hear. "He doesn't seem evil to me.. Would he even have a palace or a Treasure for that matter..?"

"Of course he could. Palaces are just places formed by distorted desires. Most of those whom are warped do tend to be evil. But not always, not necessarily."

"You hacked the website, right?"

Lumio spoke up to distract Alee from Mieran talking to Umbra to garner more information. "Hm? I did." Alee played with the hem of his sleeve, averting his eyes to look at the wooden planks of the pier. "I really just needed to reverse track the site's originating IP address.. It led to a personal device which made things much easier for me. If it hadn't been a personal device I was just going to hack the domain purchasing records.."

"Smart… You're really smart."

Alee sighed, pushing his glasses up as he lifted his head once more. He met xyr eyes, and Vesper felt something akin to a chill run down xyr spine. "Please, an idiot could do that. Now ya gonna agree to my terms or not?" He crossed his arms over his chest, seeming to realise something, he reached into his jacket pocket. "I.. I even brought money. It isn't much but, it's something at least." He pulled out a small stack of 10s.

"I think we should help him. Having a hacker on our side would be useful. Especially with those recent threats.."

Something about him brought a deep sadness into xyr heart. One xe couldn't exactly describe with words. Just a feeling. "No need for money." Vesper shook xyr head. They gave a glance to each member of the group. A unanimous decision. They could judge by the look on Mieran's face, that xe wasn't the only one to sense that level of distorted emotion. An affirmative nod from both him and Lumio. "We don't do this for profit. It'll be done." They gave Alee a nod.

"How do you afford sup- you know what, whatever. I don't care." Alee rubbed his arm, looking around then at the pier, at the people. Like he was looking for somebody. Xe also looked around, nobody was paying them any mind. No more than usual, at least. "Just don't contact me, not at the email I used or any other you may find for me." He looked back at who he'd easily sussed out to be the leader.

"Wait, we need to find out more about him. That last name is kind of weird, right?"

"We'll see. I have a few questions first though."

Alee seemed uneased at that, he pulled his phone from his pocket, taking a quick glance at the time. He seemed to hesitate, pivoting awkwardly, his boots dug into the wooden planks. "Just.. Make it quick, I can't be out for long." He slid the phone back into his pocket, resigning himself to the questioning.

"Your last name. Are you from here?"

"What kind of question.. I'm not, no. I'm from Canada. I just chose to come here." He averted his gaze, like he had more to say but chose not to.

"Do you like California?"

"I don't go out much. But.." He looked around them. The pier. The lights, the crowds, the rides, food, the people.. The crashing of the waves against the pillars. "It is nice, isn't it?" He looked back at xem, and xe swore xe could see a small smile outlined on his mask.

"Alee Destan.. California.. We just need the distortion now."

"And how do you vi-"

Alee's phone rang. He froze momentarily, red eyes widening. Before Umbra could get out a comment on his skittish behaviour, he pulled his phone from his pocket. His gaze hardened as he read the caller ID. His phone loudly rang. The sound almost hurt its ears. "...Mm. I must leave immediately. Good luck, thieves." And he was gone, disappearing into the crowds of tourists.

what do you want nico to be ike in the seris and what do you think hed actaully be like?

Honestly I just hope he’s developed beyond the Love Interest character. I think it would be fantastic to see a Nico-Centric episode (perhaps the spin off of Flores Facets?), but based on the real trajectory of the series I don’t think that’s going to happen. Character wise I hope he’ll be developed as a great complemet to c!Thomas- maybe more extroverted, maybe just as kind, hopefully a little silly, too! I just hope that whatever direction Thomas+CO take his character will be a good one.

Hi. Can you explain how Medalion Rahimi can work as Wanda Maximoff? I read the tags and I am very curious about Mizhari Jews and Romani people. I don't know if I understand correctly.

hi! so first and foremost, i am open to criticism and correction on this absolutely as i am not rroma nor am i jewish, but basically comics!wanda is mixed jewish/rroma, her parents met in a concentration camp. mcu retconned her parenthood but also white and christianwashed her lol? (cross in her room during ca:cw and also elizabeth olsen being straight up. northern european)

anyway, so rroma people are a nomadic people group who are ethnically related to north indians but have been nomadic for several centuries now and have a distinct culture from north india. i initially used alba flores as wanda, because she is spanish-romani, and then continued to use aaron taylor-johnson for pietro because he's jewish and there aren't, to my knowledge, any romani-jewish faceclaims. so in that sense, i was able to represent both facets of the maximoffs' identities.

there's nothing wrong with alba flores, she just has limited material for me to pull from. i'm considering switching to medalion rahimi because she's mizrahi jewish, which refers to jewish people who are southwest asian (also "middle eastern" but that term to me is geographically nonsensical so i don't use it lol), north african, and also, oftentimes, central asian.

so the majority of romani people live in europe, but there's a large population of romani people that live in central asia as well, largely in former parts of the soviet union. my pitch for why medalion works is because she's jewish and belongs to a group of jewish people who overlap significantly with the ethnic origins of romani people, but also because her father is iranian-russian, and both of those places are home to a significant diasporic population of romani people. also, indo-persian synthesis means that there's a significant amount of cultural and migratory exchange between the two countries.

she's not perfect, but i thinks she's an improvement on elizabeth olsen, and just personally more accessible to me given the lack of material available for alba.

Whoever thought that the coin conversion rate stayed consistent between universes? It saved Maisie Doscedar from the uncomfortable sweat at her nape. Despite spending countless nights and days poring over tomes and scrolls to initiate transdimensional travel, little consideration was given to the practicalities of functioning in a new world. Neither she nor her accomplice had contemplated what would come after their success. But, as always, there was a silver lining, or perhaps just pure stupid luck and chance, that things would work out.

The tavern, a haven amidst the untamed wilderness, welcomed the welted feet and encumbered bodies of the weary travelers. Though the pub owner could not consolidate four beds for four travelers, two beds and a couch were available. After three hours of settling in, sleeping arrangements were still being finalized.

Seeking solace from the mounting tension, Maisie retreated to one of the rooms. It wasn't hers to claim but offered a temporary respite from the chaos. Here, she could review the map and strategize for the challenges ahead. Potential allies had emerged during their travels, but nothing was certain with the tension in the air. The dogmatic and relentless were not known for their willingness to compromise.
