I had an Ikea lamp that I just wasn't using because the blue matched nothing else I own, so I decided to try and do something to it that would cost £0 and hopefully make me want to use it.
I think I succeded? I'm excited to find somewhere to put it now. It's not my most... robust DIY I've ever done, I learned that paper parcel tape actually kind of hates taking paint even with gesso, and one layer of tissue really isn't going to get that glasslike rigidity even with glue. But I didn't want to buy any extra supplies for this one.
It looks really pretty lit up, although it would be better if it was a lamp with a bulb that gave out light on all sides. I'm happy with it though, much better than the point halfway through where I was like 'I have Wrecked a Perfectly Good Lamp'

there's three green leaves with foxes on them and nine white ones with squirrels

Sometimes
We are the string of lights
Twisted wire and a battery pack switched off
Sometimes
We are wax
Burning in the darkness
Dripped and melted and soft under fingernails
Sometimes
We are the glass in windows
Throwing refracted coloured shadows on the walls
Sometimes we are the sun
Big and bright and unkind
Sometimes we are the sun
Held in the palm
Kind
