Part of my Flowers series, here is Levi in his Nara Kingyo Museum outfit. For Levi’s flower, I picked Diphylleia Grayi [the skeleton flower]. This flower symbolizes the revelation of one’s true self, clarity and honesty. They are characterized by their ability to change form when it rains, becoming like a crystalline glass flower from white petals as water touches it and revealing its internal structure. This is the first flower I’ve chosen for the brothers where it goes beyond applied symbolism to matching the characteristics of who he is as a person; for Levi, who is shy and lonely, still craving the ability to be seen despite hiding himself away because he thinks he’s not worth it, who is reticent but still passionate, this flower truly represents his duality. Will you become the rain that touches his skin?

Chaswyn - Iris
The Iris represents faith, courage, valour, hope and wisdom.
It matches Chaswyn perfectly, he's very wise and despite being shy, he blooms under the right circumstances. He's currently winning as the favorite character of most DS readers! And rightfully so, it's hard not to love him <3 You can learn more about Chas in @skaylanphear's wonderful book "Deathborne", the first from the Dragon Seer series.

Nobuyoshi Araki
Shijyo Tokyo - Marketplace of emotions
Edited by Zdenek Felix  Texts by Zdenek Felix and Ulf Erdmann Xiegker
Edition Stemmle, Zurich 1998, 136 pages, 23 x 33 cm., ISBN  978-3908161219
euro 120,00

When artist Nan Goldin asked Araki why he thinks that the smell of death is attached to photography, he answered, "Photography has always been associated with death. Reality is colorful, yet early photography always took the color out of reality and made it black-and-white. Color is life; black-and-white is death". Araki's statement serves as a fitting motto for this publication. Under the title of Shijyo -- freely translated as Marketplace of Emotions -- the book presents 200 photographs arranged in a sequence of contrasting pairs. As in his previous books and exhibitions, Araki employs a combination method, presenting photos that relate to differing themes. The scintillating color of the "Flower Series" stands in strange contrast to the dark mood of the black-and-white series, called "Death Reality". The latter images are the remains of an old movie Araki made in the 1970s. Stored improperly for many years, the film shows severe damage. It is streaky and bears traces of smoke or soot, as if subjected to violent treatment -- a sign of mortality in Araki's eyes.

Part of my Flowers series, here is Beel in his Nara Kingyo Museum outfit. His design was the easiest for me to replicate (and honestly, that umbrella is hella sexy); however, I had a difficult time picking a flower for him. The game leans so much into his hunger that I had to rake my mind to see who he is without that. In the end, I picked violets for him because they symbolize loyalty, faithfulness, remembrance, and enduring love. Grief and loss leave permanent marks, but he remains strong to support others even as he keeps painful memories close, knowing that he cannot change what happened. He cares so much about the people around him that he becomes a rock for them; a constant reminder that although they don’t have everybody, they still have each other.
