The fact that flozmin and monsam(sammon? Freenbecky? Not sure which one it is. I mean Gap the series) never really got the be trending in tumblr is really sad.

I think both ships where really amazing with great chemistry and in flozmin’s case a perfect storyline. I’m yet to see any other ship that has reach all the check boxes that some lists could have around representation and it was almost never important in here.

Luimelia was the Bomb I love their chemistry and the raw emotions that come out of their scenes together, especially the time where Amelia was forcibly committed to a mental institution and when they were broken up but still in love with each other. They can't seem to catch a break, idk if it's typical of telenovas where everyone has to be suffering but it's so stressful to watch it sometimes. I didn't know you were also into them, only knew you through NCISHI. Too bad that fandom was extremely toxic.

Way back when I realized I was gay I loved pepa and silvia of los hombres de paco. And then during the pandemic I started watching a TON of telenovelas featuring wlw! I also started learning Spanish for the first time as a result which gave me such a huge sense of purpose during a challenging time.

But yeah I ADORE luimelia. I think they're both so funny and I love how neither of them can hide their passion and love for each other. Lots of courage, lots of sass, lots of love between them. Have you seen #Luimelia? It's a modern spinoff focusing on their characters. It has two seasons--definitely thought the first season was the best, but in general it's a really creative, thoughtful show. It's on atres player premium with english subs afaik.

Also, I really wasn't an active participant in fandom until kacy got me talking with lots of awesome people. But I have lurked and been in fandom spaces for over a decade at this point. My point being, I didn't really engage with luimelia fans beyond just looking at gifsets and reading comments on youtube videos...sucks that it ended up being toxic tho!

hiiiii, two questions. Are you re-watching all of las estrellas or Flozmin scenes? In spanish or english? because i have been in search for a good link to rewatch with my partner

I'm rewatching just Flozmin's scenes. They're all in Spanish with English subs.

The Flozmin playlist only has 1-100, but you can easily swap over to the video list to get 101-150. Some of the videos are a little mixed up, but it's nothing major.

Plus, all of the videos have English subs now! Back in my day ("tell us more, grandma"), only 1-93 had English subs due to the backlog. We had to watch 94-150 with a Spanish-to-English dictionary and a prayer.

I really felt like you said that nothing can do it like soaps! It’s been ages since I had a ship in a soap but you mentioned Otalia and I remembered just how much I loved them once.

Just the sheer screentime they get! Didn't both Flozmin and Jasanni's respective edits top 20 hours each?

Looking at the Otalia compilation someone's been putting together, it's also at 23 hours and not even complete yet! And I'm sure it doesn't include all the character defining previous scenes over many years of Olivia's FIVE marriages to pivotal Guiding Light men. Like, it does elevate her relationship with Natalia to know what a maneater and shark she was before and how hard won and meaningful the change with and for Natalia was. Obviously you see that even at the start of Otalia clips, and she never fully stops being a bitch, thank god, but it's just different when it's not a simple prologue or timeskip but actual years lived out on screen.

I was discussing another soap with my friend and how they might not go for the f/f plot after all, how the brief foray into bisexual curiosity was just to fill time, and it made me think, soaps are literally just about filling time; for all that people miss fillers in regular scripted TV and all the casual character and relationship development they bring, soaps are just that all the time.

Some are more sensational than others, lol, but when they tackle certain topics, they can be so much more authentic than other media. I'm still watching but Chloe's Huntington's plot on Neighbours was really well done, and like, it may be a very typical soap premise to have Olivia receive the heart of Natalia's previous big love, but seeing her struggling for months after with the heart transplant recovery isn't something you'd see anywhere else, and it dovetailed perfectly with the other main goal to have her reluctantly rely on Natalia who then responded to that vulnerability.

If you're in the mood, you should check them out again! The second part, or skipping a couple of hours in, maybe, in the playlist above are where the good stuff starts.

I have such respect for people that know more than one language honestly. It feels like most native English speakers in North America don't care all that much about expanding their knowledge in that area. I don't know. For me other than German the only other language i've actually wanted to fully learn was Spanish, but all I know are the very, very basics. I would've loved to have taken it in high school but it wasn't an option, so I took French, which at the time I didn't care about so I haven't retained much of it at all.

I'll be honest tho, my motivation for learning Spanish back then was pretty straight forward 😅 My first gf was Hispanic and I really wanted to be able to speak Spanish with her. You get it lol But I already know far more German than French and Spanish combined.

Question, when speaking with someone you've never met before should you always speak formally? Would people get offended if you didn't?

i guess here in Europe it's quite common to know several languages, because we're all so close to each other. we're in a constant cultural exchange anyway. and I only wanted to learn more Spanish because I watched Juliantina and Flozmin 😂 only gay reasons too 🌈

and regarding your question: it's quite heavily dependent on age. young people like university students always use "du" with each other. with older people or with superiors at work or with strangers we use "Sie". honestly, in my field as a social worker we mostly use "du" with each other, even with the people who work for the ministry. so it all depends a bit on context. since you'll have an accent when speaking i don't think anyone would be offended when you address them with the informal you :)

Latin American telenovelas are doing so much with so little.

Like I'm aware there's so much couples to mention, but Flozmin, Juliantina and Julia are so amazing in their own way.

Amar a muerte, Las Estrellas and Las Aparicio are so good.

The casting, the performance, the storylines(even the complicated parts), the fact that ALL of the novelas hace specific scores/tunes in their soundtrack for the couples.

Is the pining. That yearning is so great.

Seriously, the latin american telenovelas and kdramas are the best to create romantic yearning.

And that's the best part of any queer relationship.

Jaz in the elena era is almost indefensible even if you accept that Flor is struggling with her queerness in a way that beats against Jaz's feelings.

And it's kind of the point right? Everything she doesn't want to be she becomes: deceitful and callous. How many speeches are their against lies? How many times does she chastise Dani about hurting Flor? Now she's no different.

Jaz is a version of herself that is unrecognizable to her characterization in the first 1/3. (It's almost as if she's not supposed to be with Elena). Rightly Flor calls her out about promising to be patient with her and leaving. Working her old emotional damage from Elena out with a highly vulnerable Flor in the blast radius is so so awful. Flor develops multiple tics and devolves into depression, which Jaz sees all of. In fact she has a front seat because Flor never hides her pain.

The show does do a good job of showing, the way they did during Dani, that Jaz keeps choosing Flor. The millisecond Flor was ready to be with her, the audience knew who she'd choose.

While true, that arc is incredibly hard to watch. Flor does finally get the clarity that Jaz lacks. The dynamic flips. And I love every single time she finds the strength to tell Jaz what she feels or tells her off. By the end she won't wait for Jaz to choose. Florencia Estrella is crazy brave. It cannot be said enough

I love Soljiwan (on the kdrama Nevertheless) and they definitely made the most of the time they got, it just wasn't a lot of time overall! Would I recommend it to someone looking specifically for a slow burn or well developed f/f? That's tough to say.

It's hard to separate, now, how much the weekly wait contributed to the slow burn and eventual payoff. Would it feel the same if someone watched a cut now? Would I recommend someone watch the whole show for just them to experience that same build?? I guess I'd say, if you come in with the right expectations, knowing this is a side couple, it could make for a fun little watch.

Someone else suggested Flozmin in the replies and while I've still not watched it, that is definitely quiiiite a lot of screentime to be getting. :P

yeah of course I've heard of it, I am German 😂 and because of that i know exactly how GZSZ works: two people become a couple and after a few months there has to be drama so they break up again. Happens over and over again, that's how daily soaps work. I mean last time I fell for the trap on Alles was zählt with Chiara and Ina, Chiara got back with a man and Ina left the show. i am happy you enjoy them so much anon and I might check out the videos, but I won't really get invested before I know their story ends happily. when it comes to daily soaps Juliantina and Flozmin are my go to couples ❤
