Preparing for the shoot

To ensure everything goes smoothly on the day of the shoot we have prepared written storyboards and shot-lists. To make sure I am prepared to record sound on the shoot I have printed sound recording sheets so I am prepared to organise the sound files for the edit. I am excited to work with new actors and equipment I have never used before.

Film Narrative 2 update (April 2022)

In our first shoot, it was quite hectic. We had to wait until it was dark, giving up limited time to shoot as we had to be out by 10pm. We got what we really needed but no extras which then created a struggle for the editor.

However, after our first shoot at the beginning of March we realised due to camera issues we were going to have to reshoot.

 It wasn’t the best case scenario but we were a lot more organised going into our second shoot, only issue being that we didn't have the LEDs from last time but luckily we had a friend on the course who kindly lent us them for the night. It wasn't exact to before but we liked it and thought it matched our mood board well. 

With timing, it went a lot smoother. We were packed up and out by 10pm having done priority shots, including shots given to do through feedback and a few extra to give variety.

It is currently in the editing stage and is looking good so far, we have no issues with the footage.

I didn't end up liking the Moonlander keyboard, but the one thing I did love from it was the "Caps Word" feature: it's like caps lock, but it automatically exits when you type space or enter. This turns out to be super useful for programming, and I figured out how to cobble it together on the UHK:

1. Make a new Fn2 layer that has every alphabet key like normal, but with shift held down. (you can tune this to your preference. I left numbers as they are but had the dash/underscore key type underscore while Caps Word is on)

2. Make a macro for Caps Word and assign it the toggleLayer fn2 command, map that to the key or combo of your choice on the base layer

3. Create a macro that types <space> and then runs unToggleLayer, assign this to <space> on the Fn2 layer, similar thing goes for Enter
